It’s true the older you get, the faster time seems to fly by. Last year, I decided that I could do nothing and stay on the fast track to obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease or I could do something different. The year was going to fly by regardless of how I spent my time.
I joined an online community of support for people striving to make better food choices and incorporate exercise into their daily lives. There was a team in that community called Cathe Fans. Hmmm…that name had a familiar ring. Several years ago, I had purchased a step (the teal one with the purple risers) and it came with a DVD (Basic Step) that was taught by Cathe Friedrich. I saw that step peeking out from under the bed from time to time but I rarely pulled it out and used it. These Cathe fans talked about how much they enjoyed her workouts. Well, I decided to give the Step
another try.
I am so glad I did. Once the Basic Step DVD became less challenging, I moved on to Low-Impact Step then to Kick,Punch and Crunch, Slow and Heavy strength training and Cardio Fusion. I am so grateful to Cathe for making these great fitness tools. I finally found cardio that I enjoy.
Cathe also showed me that I could do push-ups. I saw her and her entire crew doing them and I got this crazy idea that I could do them, too. So, I did.
I went from almost 190 pounds in May of 2010 to 132 today. I went from a size 18W to a current size 8. The before-after picture is that same pair of 18W jeans. According to the BMI charts, I was obese a year ago and now I am in the healthy range. Even more important that all that, I feel like I have my life back! I am almost 50 years old and am in much better shape than I was 20 years ago. Thank you Cathe and crew.
