Recently I was admitted to the ER for GI/heartburn issues. The doctors wanted me to stay for 24 hour observation to be sure that the minor issues faced did not relate to any heart, blood, or lung issues.
Thankfully, all is well. Actually, I did not discover how well my body was until several observational tests were done. I’ve discovered that my heart is actually stronger than I have imagined with an average resting heart rate of 38-45 bmp. My lung capacity is comparable to that of a swimmer. My blood work showed great health.
In reflection of these results, I have Cathe and her various programs to be thankful for. I’ve been using Cathe DVDs since 2005, currently and continually doing STS weights and cardio. (On a side note: I never thought i’d be disciplined enough with the weighted program and the new STS Cardio is an unspeakable challenge that thankfully my body will probably NEVER get used to!)
We are all motivated to have a great exterior body, and for most of us that’s motivation enough! But, what happens internally is even a greater reward. Being a personal trainer myself, I am constantly assessing clients’ progress, never really taking the time to measure my own, unless it involves a mirror. But what a great discovery to find out just how much strength and progress is going on inside the body aside from a strong core or decent triceps.
Every Cathe DVD has challenged me. Even when I think I have an “easy” day to look forward to ( i.e. a non-plyo day 😉 , I put in any DVD and Cathe’s energy and wisdom quickly puts me into focus and encouragement. Trainers need trainers, I always say. And I am thankful, but , most importantly, newly motivated by knowing regardless of the goals I have to accomplish a six-pack or larger biceps, that my heart, lungs, and all that really matters are being conditioned to make me feel like Superman…even though, when winded, I am more like Clark Kent 🙂
Even when struggling to get to an ideal waist line or shape, and hitting a plateau is making you want to give up; always remember that no matter how frustrated you may become at times, the heart always gets stronger when you hang in there: physically and emotionally.
