Last year I was able to attend Cathe’s Road Trip in Glassboro for the first time. It was an amazing experience and one that I’ll always treasure. While there, I was able to meet so many wonderful women who shared the same interests and love of fitness that I do. Upon returning, several of us who shared the discontent of not being where we wanted to be physically created a social group on the forum called “Cathletes Gettin’ To Goal & Beyond”. These women have become very dear to me and have been a great source of support and encouragement. Four of us will meet again this year when we travel to New Jersey for RT 2010. They are such a fun group, and though we vary in age we share a bond that has grown stronger over this last year. I feel the need to mention my Ya Ya friends, as well, because they have always been a great source of support. My family likes to kid me about my Cathlete and Ya Ya friends.
In January I knew that I had to get serious if I was ever going to lose this extra weight. I started a 12-week challenge of cleaning up my eating and doing a STS rotation. This is the second rotation for me and I chose an undulating one this time through. I used Cathe’s Shock Cardio workouts for the cardio portion of my rotation. I would occasionally throw in a workout by a different instructor or a different cardio workout by Cathe, but Shock Cardio workouts were my primary source of cardio. STS is an outstanding program and one that I can see myself using over and over. I love the variety that it offers by doing a different DVD each day. And although some are similar, it still feels different. I was never bored or thought about quitting and that’s unusual for me. STS challenged me to push myself, got me out of my comfort zone, and had me lifting heavier than I normally would.
I just wanted others to know that it is possible to lose weight while doing STS. Initially, I was going to give up sugar for the 12 weeks but that didn’t last long. ☺ I knew that this wouldn’t work for me. In the end, I chose a calorie range that worked for me and ate in moderation while trying to make healthy choices most of the time. I lost 17 lbs in the 3 months that I did STS and I’m thrilled. I didn’t make my goal during the challenge but have since met it. I still have about 5 pounds to lose and hope to have this accomplished by the Road Trip. I’ve not only lost weight but I’ve gained strength, energy, and self confidence along the way. At 51, I feel great ! I’m thrilled with my results and plan on doing a rotation again before the year ends.
As many of you will notice, the pictures are taken in capris like Cathe wore in one of her Shock Cardio videos. I loved them and just had to have them when I found out they were available for purchase. ☺ I remember laughing when I pulled them from their package. They were one-size-fits-all and so tiny that I didn’t think I would be able to pull the bottoms up over my hips. I look forward to wearing them at the Road Trip and will be curious to see who else just had to have them as well. I have a long way to go before I can rock them like the girls in the workout, but I’ve come a long way and it’s so exciting to see the difference. Thank you Cathe for STS
