Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for February 2023

Today I had an excellent workout, I did Les Mills Combat #90, 45 minutes long and I burned 405 calories. I used my 1# weighted gloves and I did really well with the workout. I have my collarbone and shoulder taped and it is amazing how well it supports an injury. I had my last PT appointment yesterday and she told me to go ahead and workout, but to listen to my body. There is no point of doing nothing if they cannot find one thing wrong except for inflammation of the joint and the collarbone is higher on that side. Since I have taped the injury, the swelling of the joint has gone done and I sleep better. I do believe there is a nerve issue as well as Myofascial issues but other than that who knows.

Debbie, my dumb Ortho has yet called me to explain my MRI! What an idiot. From what I can understand from the report I have what I said above, inflammation in the joint, but what is causing it? Why is my left Clavicle higher than the right? Right now, I am going ahead as usual, it has been 6 full months, and no one has come up with anything except for me! Debbie, you should get infrared therapy on your area of the knee that needs to heal that is red, it will help get rid of any infection. My mom had to do it on herself, but doctors cannot tell you to do it even though they know it works so well. That is what her doctor said to her. You should ask your doctor about it. It will dry right up and take all the red away.

Doreen, great job with the lower body workout today. It is cold here today, but it is sunny :) We get a couple of warmer days and then next week shows 5 days of rain!!!

Diane Sue, I am so glad that you got 9.5 hours of sleep the other night, that is amazing for you!!!!!!!!! Mayber you are feeling low energy because you just need a break, listen to your body. Take a week off and just do stretching and see how you feel.

Belinda, good luck with your knee, back and hip. Holy smokes you are really having a tough time of it. Thank God for wine!

Cam, nice job on the Penny workout.

Make it a great day. My Bowflex Max trainer is supposed to come tomorrow!!!! On Sunday my hubby will put it together for me :) I am excited for something new to do instead of my TM.

Hi everyone,

I walked over 2 miles today. I got caught in the rain. It wasn't suppose to rain.

Jolie - great job on Les Mills Combat #90 today. Thank you! I do have a lot of health problems going on. I need a break. I am on so many meds, I can't have wine. Enjoy on for me!

Doreen - great job this morning.

Have a great day and workout everyone.

Today I did all CDorner workouts. I started with Cardio Tabata Step 31 minutes, heart rate 119/145,142 calories, 2029 steps. This was not too bad for impact. I subbed a step(tada) for a jump on the box move and the thruster with a walk back, otherwise I did what they did. There is a timer for 20/10 on the tabatas of two moves done 4 times, a bonus 2-minute fast feet like football, and ending with a two-move ab tabata.
I then did Low Impact Basic Step Aerobics workout for beginners, 31 minutes, heart rate 130/162, 165 calories, 2,812 steps. This was # 167-A. I did the 167-B Intermediate before which has a few different movements to it. She does these sometimes with progressions in each till you get to the Advanced C one. I should try 167-C, but she has Michael in it and he kind of annoys me for some reason. The beginner one did well keeping the heart rate up today. I was warmed up from the first workout though so that helped. I finished with CDorner20 minute easy back stretch/lower back refresh routine. 17 minutes, 28 calories, heart rate 78/99. This is an older one and the moves are all ones I have used it lots of stretches, but she holds the stretches longer with a timer. It really helped because my back hurt this morning. I think those windmills with the dumbbells yesterday and another move that I did make it achy. I slept with my wedge under my knees last night to help my back.
It was a busy morning as my husband got up after a couple of hours of sleep needing to get his new Jeep Rubicon truck into the shop. It is crazy as he has 2,000 miles on it and 4 times now when stopped at a light or drive through it just decides to surge and jerk forward till my husband slams hard on the brakes. It did it in the garage when we had been out the other day and I am glad the garage door was not coming down. I read on line that some other people have had it happen and one said his Jeep met his workbench in his garage. We were in a Braums pick up line and it surged forward past the window. Any way I monitored his phone so he could go back to bed because the dealership was trying to find a loaner car so they can try to get the Jeep Truck in as soon as possible.

Doreen, nice work on the lower body metcom. Thankfully no snow here, just really cold.

Belinda, I hope the mri is helpful. It seems insurance usually insists on X Rays first before mri's. Sorry it rained on you when you got out for your walk. I hope the bleeding is getting better.

Jolie, nice work with Les Mills #90. How long did you sign up for? You should call the Ortho. It seems there has to be some reason for the inflammation. I am glad the swelling is doing better with the taping.
I have a planned rest next month when my husband and I go out of state for a few days on our 50th anniversary. My vet swears by infrared and uses it on animals to help them heal faster and sometimes he says it takes care of things without doing anything else. I have wanted the Tommy Copper Infrared wrap that can go around the low back or wrapped around other areas. Sometimes they have good sales. I think it makes a difference on the specs and how much they give. I did research on them.
I know that you have to be excited about the Max Trainer coming.

Forgot to check in yesterday. I did Michelle No Equipment 55 min Bodyweight Met Con. I really liked it and ir was a sweaty low impact workout. Tonight I did a Penny 50 min Strength & Cardio Supersets Hiit. I loved this. 8 sets of a strength/cardio move 40 sec/15 sec. strength, followed by a 30 sec/15 cardio. 2 rounds. It was very thorough.

Debbie, I always bang my knee into my desk. I can imagine how much that hurt. Hope you are doing better.

Good workouts everyone! We got about 8 inches of snow today. It just ended

Hi all! I am doing better today and the incision seems to be drying up finally. So glad to see that!! The swelling hasn't been as bad either so I hope that keeps up.

Jolie - I CANNOT believe you have not heard the results from your MRI. What is you doctor doing for goodness sakes? I had an appointment the same day I had my MRI for the follow up. After I hear about what some of you go through to get medical treatments, I am blessed to have such great medical facilities here in Ohio. Sometimes other states sound like they are running medical facilities like Canada and the like do. That isn't right. I'd be calling the Ortho place and I'd be bugging them until the doctor gave me some answers. That is ridiculous. The infrared idea is a good one, I've heard of that as well. It seems to be healing finally so I am happy about that. So cool on your Max Trainer! You will love that thing but don't get discourage. Really, it is HARD! Watch some Youtube videos on getting started. The first time I got on mine I thought, no freakin' way can I do that!! I can't wait to get back on mine!!!

Belinda - Yuck on getting rained on! Sorry that happened to you. Yes, I need to get those books downloaded. I have until August, I think. I won't order anymore bundles, though. I do want to get the two cookbooks the Well Your World guy has. I love his recipes. My birthday is coming up so I will ask someone to get them for me. LOL!

Diane - Yes, I have to go see my surgeon again on March 10. Then they will let me know what I can or cannot do. I do think I'm going to try Box Fit next week and possibly some upper body work. I can't stand not working out, drives me crazy. I sleep with a pillow between my legs every night, it's the only way I can sleep. My low back hurts if I don't. That is ridiculous about your husband's Jeep. They better do something to fix it. Geez!!!

Cam - I will look up that DC Fitt and see what kind of workouts she has. Thank you for letting me know about her again. I forgot to answer you about recovery time - the doctor said my knee should be about back to normal within 4-6 months - which shocked me. But I guess that is about typical with surgeries. They said I could still have swelling a year on. Yikes, I hope not!! Great job on your workouts!!

Well, you all have a wonderful weekend! I'm hoping to be able to do something on Monday. We'll see...

Debbie - get those books download. You will regret it. The new bundle had Kiki's Plentiful Wholesome ebook and Well Your World Vol. 1. I am excited about those are almost the price of the bundle. Dillon had 4 cooking classes in the last bundle, I had to contact him about the links. He sent them to me. He is very nice! Glad you doing great and healing.

Diane - thank you. I hope they can figure out what is going on with my right knee. I debating if I want to take a change on walking today? Great job yesterday.

Today is rest day #2 for the week. I finally spoke with my Ortho last night but the phone quality was so bad I could barely hear him. I emailed him this morning to email me the MRI results in a language that I can understand so I can do some investigative work to find a solution to my problem. He said the good news is that I have NO tumor or mass, that was my biggest concern. I do have severe arthritis in the joint, that does not surprise me at all since the issue has bothered me for so long. He wants to give me a Cortisone shot but I told him no, I get bad reactions to the steroid, and it doesn't solve any issue, it just masks the problem and he agreed. I spoke to him about PRP Plasma therapy and told him I would go elsewhere to have it done, but he agreed to do it for me. Thank God, because it is a very expense treatment. I also stated in the email that I want a meeting face to face to discuss all of my options, so I look forward to his response. I also know that Prolotherapy works very well for this condition, and it is something that I would definitely do, I have had a lot of success with it in my spine, feet and knees in the past. I will get to the bottom of this issue if it is the last thing that I do!

Debbie, I am so glad to hear that your knee is doing better!!!!!! How has it been for you mentally, not being able to work out? This issue I have is really doing a number on my mind, not being able to do what you want when you want is frustrating right! I have lost almost all of my muscle mass and I feel so depressed about it. However, I fit into my cloths much better now :) I know that Max Trainer is going to kill me, but I am willing to try it LOL. Alot of people use it for in-between sets to keep the heart rate up, like I do with my rowing machine, and to work the legs while doing upper body. I love to alternate cardio with weights, it burns the fat so good.

Cam, great job on the workout and wow on the snow!

Diane Sue, bummer about the Jeep issues for your husband, that should not happen with a new vehicle. Way to go on the workout yesterday, that was a doozy. Why do you think the inflammation will not go away in my joint? This is very frustrating for me. It does go way down if I do not use my arm much but that is impossible to make happen with just everyday life. As soon as I use my arm it flares up again. They say not to stop using your arm because I need to build up the muscle and tendons to support the issue. It is a catch 22. I cannot believe that you have been married 50 years!!!!!!!!! Way to go, you are an inspiration to everyone!

Belinda, can you not drink wine because of the meds, or does it cause inflammation? I stopped walking on the TM and my knee is doing better. I think changing up what we do daily helps with overuse injuries. I ordered the Max Trainer because it is an entirely different movement and that gives me a break from walking on the TM. Hopefully my knee will settle down as well as yours.

Make it a great day.

Hi,

No walk outside today, it's too windy. I did Caroline G. standing shoulder with light weights. I am easing back into my weight workouts. I probably will do only upper body until I get the MRI.

Jolie - it's a combination of both. I am trying really hard to learn as much as I can about autoimmune diseases and what causes inflammation. I agree, switching up your routine. I can't do anything except walking for my knee right now. My right knee is so swollen, I haven't done any LB weight workouts before my surgery. My knees are getting lots of rest. I walk very slow too. I am not going for speed, only get some movement. I am sure you will enjoy the Max Trainer. I am in the progress of downsizing. Plus, I don't have any room in my basement gym. I don't like it to look cluttered. I used the Max Trainer in the gym in Germany, loved it. I am sure, they are better and newer than what we had at the gym.

That's it for me today.

Today I did CDorner Lower Body Workout for Toned Booty. 52 minutes, uses fabric band and dumbbells, 118 calories, heart rate 90/117, 1,423 steps. I then did CDorner Tabata Style Kickbox, 30 minutes, 184 calories, heart rate 142/169, 1,595 steps. I finished with her Stretch after Step, 19 minutes, 35 calories, heart rate 80/106. Total time was 1 hour 41 minutes, 337 calories, 3,018 steps.

Lower Body For a toned Booty
wall squat with abduction using heavy fabric band
heel elevated squat small dumbbells for heels wearing band and 20# dbs
wearing band single leg deadlift 20# db
lying prone with band lift legs up off floor (I did the suggested alternate lift because I could barely get my feet off the floor)
Repeat
skater Tabata 8 rnds 20/10
3 pulse lunge with single leg dead lift15# cross back lunge 12# db into leg lift
repeat on other side
Hands and knees wearing band leg lift
stretch

Cam, nice work with Michelle Met Com and Penny Strength and Cardio Supersets.

Debbie, I have found positions that really make a difference for sleep. It has to be on my back, hands down to my sides, knees slightly elevated and the large wedge makes my knees hurt. The pillow that works is pretty flat, not real soft with a rounded area for the neck and I have to have my shoulders on it a bit. That takes care of the neck. I start feeling better and try something else and am usually sorry. I would love to have a soft pillow, but last time I tried my small my pillow my neck and shoulders hurt.
I think it was more like 4 months before my knee felt entirely normal. I was doing some workouts that did not involve heavy lifting and jumping. I think I used some premixes on Kelly's Trim and Tone Intervals quite a bit while still healing.

Belinda, nice work today on Caroline's standing shoulder work with light weights. I am always trying to adjust things to lower inflammation. I have the Practical Paleo book and it has nutrition for auto immune and recipes and foods are altered for what you are trying to work on. It talks about exercise and not raising cortisol levels. I have never really thought about working on that. Diet does help.

Jolie, I am glad your surgeon finally talked to you and is going to help with the Prolotherapy. I think the steroid injection can make a person feel more confident and workout too hard which can make things worse. Maybe it can give certain things a chance to heal though. I know my arthritis is not going to heal. There is not a cure. I am sorry your knee is so swollen. I hope that that is taken care of soon for you.

Today I had a good workout, I did Chest, Shoulders and ABS. I used lite weights, and I did fine since my collarbone is taped. I am going to continue to tape it down, it really helps it stay in place and then there is little swelling. I did not wear my fitness watch so I have no idea what kind of calorie burn I had today. I think I may not get a new watch because pushing myself to burn calories might be why I have had so many issues in the past with injuries. Before when I had no watch, I was not so into what calories I had burned, and I just focused on my workout. Might sound dumb, but I think there is something to it for me. Also, the watches never last long, they are very expensive, and I know I work out hard enough anyway.

Chest Press- 15's x 12, x 12, x 12
Chest Flys- 10's x 12, x 12, x 12
Incline Chest Press- 15's x 12, x 12, x 12

Seated Overhead Press- 15's x 12, x 12, x 12
Lateral Raises- 8's x 12, x 12, x 12
Rear Flys- 5's x 12, x 12, x 12
Upright Rows- 10's x 12, x 12, x 12

ABS- 4 exercises to failure.

Diane Sue, nice job with the workout yesterday. I find it so hard to sleep lately, every position hurts something, either my trap area, neck, collarbone or knees. I hate it but I look forward to getting myself back healthy and pain free. I hope that it is in my future, we shall see.

Belinda, I hate to say it, but meds cause inflammation, so it is a catch 22 for you with your Autoimmune issue. I would go on high doses of Colostrum, get Bovine and I bet you would see a huge difference. Also, Grapeseed Extract and MSM along with Collagen would help. None of these supplements would interfere with meds. Have you tried Infrared or Cool laser therapy? All natural and all safe. Doctors do not push natural remedies; I would go to a natural path for help. Just my opinion but you do you. If I listened to my doctors I would be no where fast.

I hope you all have a good day today.

Checking in with Tracy 40 min 4 Quadrant Strength & Cardio No Repeat. Good workout for today. 10 min. Lower Body, then Upper, Cardio and last, abs.

Jolie, I really think those watches are gimmicky. I just don't believe they are accurate. My daughter had problems with hers too. I have thought about getting one myself and I also know I workout pretty hard. I figure my body tells me whether I am burning a lot of calories or not just by the way my clothes fit. Good workout today.

I think with all the working out we have done over the years, its inevitable that we all have arthritis. I know my ortho told me after my surgery that I have arthritis in my cervical spine and I will still have aches and pains in my neck and shoulder. I haven't had any real issues yet, but I have a feeling its coming.

Good workouts Diane and Belinda.

Time to run errands. Have a good weekend.

This morning I did CDorner step aerobics Int/Adv 63 minutes, heart rate 118/155,270 calories. This was fun and challenging on some of the choreography,. I have done enough of Chris' stuff that they are not doo difficult. She had some flubs on her part which threw me off on the last one and it took me a round of stumbling before I was back on track. She had two other women with her today celebrating Amanda's birthday. I actually did the first part with warm up for 8 minutes with the yoga setting , so just changed the name to cardio, so this was another 8 minutes and 39, 98/108 heart. calories as I started over with the cardio setting. I finished off with Coffey Fit Raw Roll it Out. I Was worried with this as she did moves backward over the on her lower back and also from lower back over into a pow. I did not do that I just rolled out my traps and shoulders on the tight spots. My lower back is fine today, I am not trying something that I have read is not a good idea. Also she rolled through the entire back to hips and I try not to roll up and down the spine like that. I am disappointed and checked a couple of places like Cleveland Clinic and think it was a good idea not to go that far into it. Chris always finds the knots and says to lay on them to loosen them where they have the knots. FOam Rolling with a couple minutes extra time was 16 minutes 25 calories.
Total time spent was 87 minutes, 334 calories, 5,901 steps.

I have had bad stomach issues the last 4 days and went over my newest supplements and I think the new brand of Beta sitosterol may be too strong. It was Horbach and 1200 mg capsules fast release. The thing is one of the ingredients is also in the proteolytic enzymes that I am taking in the morning. So far so good today other than when I first got up. I use digestive enzymes occasionally when I get reflux with my coughing and allergies. I was reading about the proteolytic enzymes and decided to try them out.

Jolie, you definitely work out hard enough. I had to really work on sleeping comfort and pain when I had the shoulder surgery. That is when I learned to sleep on my back and became aware that sleeping on my side caused me neck pain on the side that has a nerve issue. It has just been trying things till I found what works. The only thing is I would not necessarily say it is comfortable to me, but it works for pain. I would love to use a nice soft fluffy pillow. Keep working on it and I am sure you can get back to health. I am feeling good today with no pain other than a bit with my foot arthritis. I got another good night's sleep with 8 hrs and 15 minutes. It helps when I do not wake up a ton of times at night.

Cam, nice workout with Tracy today. I have had arthritis for a lot of years. I remember when the doctor told me I had osteopenia when my children were still in school and suggested calcium, avoidance of any carbonated drinks including the Perrier I drank a lot of and stay away from spinach. I worked out exceptionally hard several hours a day back then. It is amazing how long it was before I started having the pain and later diagnosis which came after joints started changing. Also the spinal space in my neck area, I am sure that is why it hurts a lot down my spine just from sitting in a chair.

Checking in with CDorner 30 min Step Hiit. Loved it. No repeat and fun moves. I especially enjoyed the rock music. I prefer rock instead of electronic pop crap.

Plan to take a walk later. It's a beautiful day.

I'm off today for President's Day. Nice to have a 3 day weekend! Well, I did a workout today and it felt GREAT! I did RAW Box Sit and even though I was really careful with my knee, had a good workout. This one has more knee movements than I remember so I just did what I could. It felt good to get the knee movement. The swelling is about gone and the only thing that is difficult is going up the stairs but I can do it if I take my time. So I'm on my way. I plan to workout Wednesday and Friday this week and then hopefully next week I'll workout all week.

Workout was 30 minutes, burned 270 calories, did 1998 steps and HR was 137/170.

Jolie - I've been good mentally with this knee issue. It has actually been nice to rest from workouts for a while. I missed it but didn't get depressed about it. I rarely if ever have gotten depressed about anything. I do get frustrated but that's all. I know eventually I will be 100% and then I can do my Max Trainer and step workouts again. Looking forward to that! You should get the Garmin. That is how I was with my Fitbit and then I took it off for a month because my holistic doctor thought that was what was causing my triceps issue. It wasn't causing that issue but while I wasn't wearing my FB anymore I realized it isn't a big deal about calorie burn or steps in a day. We know we are active so what is the big deal? So when I got my Garmin I don't obsess about getting 10,000 steps and my calories burns have been better than ever. So I am happy with it. I think you should get it, they give us great information on other things as well, not just calorie burn or steps.

Belinda - Are you getting knee surgery? I hope you are feeling better now, you have been going through so much. I am proud of you for keeping active, I know how hard that is to do when you just feel beat down. And with all the stuff you are going through, I'm sure you feel beat down sometimes. Hugs to you!

Diane - They did tell me that it wil take 4-6 months to get back to 100%. I am good with that if I can just do workouts again, which I know I'll be able to. I'll just have to hold off on leg workout until summer. I will check out Kelly's Trim and Tone, not sure I have that one. I'll order it if it's not on RAW. Thanks! I want to try the instructor Cam mentioned as well. I plan on looking at her Youtube channel to see what she has. How's your stomach?

Cam - Great job on your workouts! I agree, staying in shape has it's consequences. Worn out tendons, strained muscles, arthritis. But I wouldn't change anything knowing and going through this. My workouts have kept me lean, mentally stable and happy. That is so important to me! :)

Have a great day everyone!!

I did a Tracy Steen Back and Biceps workout this morning. When I first started following her chanel I thought she was too easy and boring. Now I appreciate her format and lifting workouts!!! Funny how my idea of fitness has changed over the years!

I got my Max Trainer set up and Jesus, what a killer workout!!!! I did 6 minutes yesterday on the easiest resistance and thought I would damn near die!!! I mean, I was having a hard time catching my breath. In 6 minutes I burned 62 calories, and that was coming from the machine with me using the heart rate monitor. This machine makes me use muscles I never use, even with weight lifting, I am so excited to have it for my leg workouts. Today I walked on the TM, 45 minutes uphill and traveled 2.5 miles. Next, I got on the Max Trainer and did 6 minutes through Italy, it was so pretty, and the machine said I burned 65 calories. I used the manual mode because I need to work up to using the higher intensity programs. Next, I did BACK. All in all, I had a great workout today. Total calories burned was 437. I found the charger that I had lost to one of my older watches so I used that today. I think the calorie burn is way off though.

Wide Grip Cable Pull Downs- 40# x 12, x 12, x 12 Reps
Narrow Grip Cable Pull Downs- 50# x 12, x 12, x 12
Cable Pullovers- 30# x 12, x 12, x 12
BB Rows- 30# x 12, x 12, x 12
1 Arm Rows- 15# x 12, x 12, x 12
BB Deadlifts- 25# x 12, x 12, x 12

Debbie, way to go on the workout today! I am so glad your knee is doing well. I will get the fitness watch you have; I have to wait till I can afford it after buying the Max Trainer and all. If I can find one on sale, I will pull the trigger. I just found my charger to my cheap watch I got on Amazon so I will use that in the meantime. How in God's name did you do the Max Trainer for over 10 minutes?! Wow, I cannot wait to get my legs in good shape, this thing will do it for sure. :)

Doreen, nice job with the Back and Biceps workout today.

Good job on the workouts yesterday everyone. I will be back later to read the posts for the day.

Hi,

I walked outside and did STS 14.

Debbie - thank you for your kind words. I do feel beat down sometimes, I try to stay positive. When I stay active, I will normal. It means a lot to me. When I saw the orthopedic last week, he ordered MR'sI on my back/hip and knee. I hope I don't need surgery. I am so glad you feeling better. Nicely done with your workout today.

I will be back later.
