Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for May 2023

Storms all night and my dog came in my room for safety. She does not like thunder and it was loud and woke me up anyway. Then the rain was coming down hard. So not much sleep. Then my phone rang through my watch at 8 and woke me and it was some crazy number I deleted about storm insurance. I have call block but those things get through sometimes. I felt sort of weak when I got up and am mainly tired. I needed to make an eye appointment for the arthritis doctor and got that done and had problems sending the blood work to my doctor. I finally got it. Their website is not working. I mentioned it to the guy because I had not been able to get into my portal and then it was just gone. He said it was a mess because their web person got sick and then died and things are all a mess getting the stuff he had. Yikes! Anyway I finally got that done. and went on to deal with the yard people but can't reach them due to them closing because of the weather.
Finally, I did Kelly's new Raw Box, Bands, and Abs 52 minutes (due to writing it down)
233 calories, heart rate 120/172, 1,116 steps. I liked this one. No impact at all and it works different muscle groups. I did a bit of stretching on my own to loosen up but did not count them in my time. At first I was worried when I saw the step with 3 risers, but then read the description which I am glad Kelly does and she said it is not needed. Last set of abs is done on the floor as planks anyway.
Kelly also did a Box 4 Your Waistline Workout and a Raw Rebound and Box.

RAW Box, Bands, and Abs 43:30 minutes
3 rounds of moves 30 seconds work
uses a fabric loop, latex loop tied (me a latex heavy loop), and optional step for abs, plus egg weights if using
each round changes moves

jab/cross/hook/upper cut all right
jab/ cross/hook/uppercut all left
repeat
jab/cross/hook/up facing forward right
jab/cross/hook/up facing forward left
repeat
fabric loop pulse squat out 4 sets
crunches on step hands holding onto step knee pulls 4 sets

boxing high/low/high/single hook 4 sets
hook/hook upper/upper 4 times
squat out fabric band 2 sets each side
squat up down in 2 sets each side
abs on step holding top reverse crunches 4 sets

boxing inside/up/cross 2 sets each side
upper cut/cross/hook/back knee 2 sets each side
latex loop around ankles wide step out alternating with arm pulls
latex loop tap out side 4 times and in with arm pulls alternating sides
low plank knee in and up behind knee in 4 sets

stretch

Belinda, thank you. I am better today. Just mainly tired.

Debbie, I am glad you are doing better. I am glad that your cardiologist changed your meds. It seems like your doctor would have wanted to change your med you were taking if it was affecting you badly. That is too bad you were experiencing all of those side effects. I seem to have side effects for a lot of meds. I always start slow with them because of that. But, you really needed help with your BP. I hope they can get your mother's bp up so that she can have her energy back.
I told my daughter there was a lady standing by me waiting to get in the one bathroom in the waiting area that was obviously sick. When she got in you could hear her vomiting flushing and vomiting some more. When she came out she left the building. I had thought maybe it was medicine or she had had an infusion at the time. I guess you can catch some viruses that quick, but not often. The arthritis center needs better restrooms anyway. Everyone uses one at the medical end and one at the pharmacy and lab end. Not even modern touch free stuff. My husband said he thinks I had what he had a while back. It sure hit me suddenly. My doctor made a note on my labs about the low white count about watching it and thinks it is due to the inflammation and arthritis.

This morning I did Michelle Briehler 55 min. Intense Full Body Strength & Cardio. That was definitely killer but I made it through. The last couple days I took the dog on 2 mile walks. My husband is on a fishing trip and she pouts. The walks are a good distraction. She's been sleeping by the door at night waiting for him. Sad. But I am getting good sleep. Ha! He'll be home tomorrow.

We should get Cathe's dvds next week. Yay! I am looking forward to new weight work. The weather here is gorgeous and its supposed to be beautiful all next week. I think I may do 30 min workouts and walks. Penny has a 30 min Strong weight program from her April calendar that I may embark on.

Have a great weekend!

Today I started CDorner Vertical Step 80's music and did 13 minutes(lots and off the step top only turns and was not in the mood), so went to her 80's step workout #291 31 minutes, both combined was 44 minutes, heart rate 132/168, 234 calories, and approximately 4000 calories since I forgot to check my watch before I started. I finished with her Morning Stretch 20 minutes, 20 calories. Total time was 64 minutes, 254 calories.

Cam, nice work with Michelle Breihler Intense full body strength and cardio today. My dog is like that when something changes in the schedule. She whines and whimpers at me like I am supposed to make something happen. I am looking forward to the new workouts. I purchased a folder for the work sheets and manual when it is ready. I have one for each set.

Belinda, I am glad that you got your walk and yoga in this morning. I am feeling much better and not hurting so bad. I am surprised because in the past it has taken quite a while for a steroid to really show effectiveness. Or maybe the forced rest helped.

Good morning,

Walk is done. I will do some yoga later. Tomorrow I have the CT scan. I will check in afterwards.

Diane - glad you feeling better. Steroids usually work very quickly for me too. Glad it helped.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sorry I have been MIA the last few days, just really busy and time got away from me. Friday was my second rest day for the week. Saturday, I walked outside for 3 miles, 58 minutes and burned 445 calories. Today, my husband and I went for a walk at the beach, the first one for the summer. Walk was 1 hour 56 minutes, traveled 6 miles and I burned 951 calories.

Great job on the workouts the past few days everyone. I am excited to hear about the new STS workouts when you get them and try them. I will then buy a few of them based off your reviews and recommendations.

Happy Sunday.

This morning I did Michelle 30 min. Soul Fusion No Equip. Full Body Cardio Strength & Mobility. A great workout for today. I relaxed and read most of the afternoon outside. Such a gorgeous day. Last night I walked my dog over 2 miles. The stinker wants to keep walking when her buddy is away. No walk tonight, though. I am not in the mood. My daughter gave her a long walk and she has been outside all afternoon with DH. She was so happy to see him. Now I am chopped liver. Ha!

Hello everyone! I am feeling so much better! I cannot believe what the original BP meds I was on were making me feel like. It's like night and day. My BP is normal, sometimes too low now, but I can deal. I did workout this morning but only had time for a treadmill walk. I had to be at work early for my music directors meeting. Tomorrow I plan to do Kelly's new RAW workout! Can't wait!

Workout today was 25 minutes, burned 213 calories, went 1.25 miles, did 2929 steps and HR was 129/157.

I have another meeting in 15 minutes so I have to go. Hopefully tomorrow I can do personals.

Have a great day everyone!!

Today I had a great workout, CL#382 Wicked Upper Body, 51 minutes and I burned 442 calories. I also added the Max Trainer at the end of the workout on manual mode for 8 minutes. I love this machine; you can work the front of the quads and the glutes if you lean forward and the hamstrings and glutes if you stand upright. My endurance is getting much better now, I incorporate it into my workouts between sets to get a better calorie burn and my legs benefit as well. I also took my puppy for a walk before my workout, 1.5 miles and I burned 274 calories walking through the hills.

Debbie, I am so happy that you are feeling better. My mom went through the same thing with her blood pressure meds, and finally she is off of them and feels even better. I guess it is all trial and error, you have to find what works best for you.

Cam, great job on the workouts this weekend. I would have loved to sit in the sun, but now sunshine here, only May Grey at the beach.

Belinda, I hope your CT scan goes well for you.

Doreen, Have a great workout today if you get one.

Roselyn, I think you said you are on vacation, have a great time.

Diane Sue, I hope you have a great workout today.

Happy Monday, but I can say that I am not feeling it today! Mondays are always a bummer for me for whatever reason. I guess it is the long week ahead and all of the things that need to be accomplished.

Evening,

My appointment was at 11 am. I left Radiology after 3 pm. Long day. One of their CT scans wasn't working. . Everyone in Radiology was very nice and explained everything. The procedure it self didn't take long, the set up took the longest. He radiologist couldn't find a vain to put the IV in. I was dehydrated by the time I was in the scan. They also had a doctor on side, in case something happened. He went over everything with me. The scan was quick.I was suppose to go over the results with my Cardiologist after the scan. I hope to get the results tomorrow. My head hurts and I am tired.

I will be back tomorrow.

Posting my workout and heading to bed. Sleep has not been good lately and things I have to be up for. Yesterday was family birthdays and mother's day celebrations:) I had people out to take care of spraying the yard since it rained when they were supposed to do it Friday. It is supposed to rain tonight again. Nothing has a chance to dry out and mosquitos are ridiculous.
I did CDorner Full Body with Dumbbells and Stability Ball with an added 6 minute extra warm up, 57 minutes, heart rate 103/142, 162 calories, 1,265 steps. I then did Raw Box 4 Your Waistline, 30 minutes, heart rate 133/169, 166 calories, 909 steps. This one was fun, music was good. They used egg weights and I used a pair of shoe weights that weigh 1#. They are like little sandbags. I forgot that I had them. Total time was 87 minutes, 328 calories, 2,174 steps.

CDorner Fill Body workout from today
3 rounds of all moves 2 rnds are 60 sec each move last rnd is 30 sec each move
Forearm plank on stability ball
crossback lunge pulse alternating sides 15# dumbbell
chest press on ball 12# dbs (this was an increase for m e)
glute bridge on ball 12# db rnd 1, 15# db rnd 2, 20# db rnd 3
ball cross reach crunch alternating sides
deadrow 17.5# dbs rnd 1, 20# dbs rnd 2 and 3 (I do not know why, but 20# feels easier than the 17.5 Bowflex weights
pullover on stability ball 15# db
reverse lunge twisting curl 15# dbs, rnd 2 side curls, and 3 hammer curls
wide squat overhead triceps extension 15# db
floor stability ball pass (used my Bosu Ball for added weight)

Belinda, your CT scan appointment sounds like a mess. Glad you got it done. Get some rest and hopefully they will let you know how it came out soon.

Debbie, glad that you are able to do some workouts and blood pressure is down. I have had a few times I was worried mine was too low. I find though that even though my blood pressure monitor is the upper arm type it is usually lower than the doctors are so I don't worry too much. Although the doctors offices use a variety of blood pressure monitors to check. I make a not when I go in and add it to my app so I can compare how much difference there is.

Cam, my dog hangs around me when I am cooking and when my husband is gone. Otherwise he is the best because he coddles her big time. She can tell him that I need to give her food or let her out. Seriously funny at times.

Jolie, the beach walks sound nice. It is nice that you and your husband can do that together. Nice workout today.

Good morning,

I have a giant headache and stomach cramping this morning. They said it was normal. I will go for a walk to see if it helps. Looks like STS 2.0 downloads will be released today, I probably will do one later.

Diane - I am glad the test is over. One of the CT scans wasn't working, they were backed up. Didn't help my situations. Glad it's done.

BBL

Today's workout was a 1 hour walk outside, traveled 3.3 miles and burned 447 calories. I did more flat land walking today, I am sick of hills LOL! I have to say, walking the hills really gets the calorie burn up there compared to walking and flat ground. If my puppy does not get in at least 3 miles of walking per day, he is a nightmare and in up to so much mischief and getting into everything.

Diane Sue, sorry you are so tired lately, but I am glad your weekend went well! Nice job on getting in a workout even though you were tired, I bet it will help you sleep better.

Belinda, great job on the walk today. I am going to look into the STS Downloads, but I am waiting for some feedback from everyone to see which ones are worth purchasing if not all of them.

I hope you all have great workouts today.

This morning I did RAW Boxing, Bands & Abs. I loved the workout but hated the music. What is it with Kelly and this crazy young music? I just don't like it at all. But the workout was really fun and went by really fast.

Workout was 43 minutes, burned 345 calories, did 2341 steps and HR was 130/171.

Jolie - Great job with your workout yesterday (Wicked Upper) and today's walk. I think I remember the Wicked workout, is that the one where Cathe and crew are dressed in halloween costumes? Yes, my BP meds that I was on should not be on the market and I don't know why my general doctor kept prescribing them even though I complained about them. I am in the process of looking for a new general practitioner. Sick of her and I haven't been happy with her for some time. Anyways, I'm hoping to get on my Max Trainer soon!! My knee is almost to 100%!!!

Belinda - OMG your appointment yesterday sounds awful. I hate waiting for doctors let alone the equipment to work! I feel so bad for you having to do all these tests. I sure hope there is an end in sight! I hope your head and stomach are better, what caused that? Hugs...

Diane - Good job with your workouts! I just purchased a new BP monitor and I like it. I'm hoping it's fairly accurate. I see my cardiologist next week so when I do I plan on taking mine with me so we can compare. I don't think mine has an app with it, it's just a basic pump model with a digital readout. I like it.

Hi to Cam, Roselyn, Roxie and Doreen!! Have a great day everyone!!!

Hi,

Awww....they just released the STS 2 downloads. Oh well! I am meeting my son in DC for dinner. He is here on business until Friday. I had to get a workout, I decided to Lite UB. I will do STS 2 in the morning.

Debbie - it was horrible especially the wait. The scan was easier than I thought and read about. I hate waiting for hours, especially since they told me not to eat or drink anything. I missed all my meds yesterday too. I can't take prednisone late in the evening. It will keep you up all night long. I was told the radiation and the meds the doc sprayed in my mouth to highlight my arteries can cause headaches and stomach cramping. He told to get get some caffeine. Drinking a ton of water helped. I am feeling a lot better. I am sorry you are going through so much with your BP. Glad the new meds are helping.

I have to get ready to meet my son. BBL

This morning I did CDorner Step Aerobics #293 Latin Flair, 30 minutes, 147 calories, heart rate 126/148, 2,686 steps. I then did some of her Kickboxing she did today, 16 minutes, heart rate 130/173, 87 calories, 1,773 steps. I finished off with CDorner Hip Mobility from today, 33 minutes, 59 calories. Total time today was 74 minutes, 293 calories, 4,507 steps.
I need some energy and motivation. It takes me forever to decide to get up and do something. I have too many projects. Plus, I keep looking at Amazon trying to decide what I want to get the most with my Amazon gift cards. It is easier if someone else picks LOL, but fun, nonetheless.

Belinda, I have only had one CT scan with contrast and it was not pleasant. That one was for the headaches I constantly had. I am glad the walk helped. I did not get downloads this time. I realize I have only used a couple of them in the past and that was while waiting to get the dvds and once when we had no power and I had some on my tablet. My dvds are expected to arrive on Thursday. If it is USPS they might get here before I work out. Spending time with your son is nice. The downloads will still be there later.

Jolie, great job on the hill walking. I think most pups need something to expend some of that energy they have. I am sure those walks help a lot. I keep trying to get outside to get in some work and and a bit of sunshine which helps sleep. It was raining for a while this morning. I went out with my dog this morning and then it started raining. Now the sun is out. Maybe I can get outside after dinner and change batteries in all of the solar lights around the fence.

Debbie, I was just okay with the music on the boxing and bands, as it was better than some of the music. I think you might like the Box 4 your waistline music better. I think it is better anyway. Not like some of our older music favorites, but recognizable.
When I chose my BP monitor I researched and it was at the top recommended by doctors for patients. Plus I already had the Withings Bluetooth scale. So with the App I get my blood pressure and heart info as well as weight, bodyfat and everything in one spot. My Withings stats also sync with MFP on my weight. According to my app today I checked I have gained some muscle and a tiny bit of weight which is my goal to gain muscle while trying to gain some weight. I can do cardio with the app, but I find it does not work so well. I used to try it occasionally and use MMF along with my bluetooth watch or even tried the fitbit. I looks like a scattered bunch of scribbles on the screen and it wants to use Google FIt for steps. Too complicated and I just have not looked further into it. I don't need that. I suppose a Withings watch would work.
If I remember right my daughter brought over her stuff to check my blood pressure and it was pretty close. My cardiologist was good with it.
I hope yours works well for you.

Quick update. My cardiologist called earlier letting me know I don't have coronary artery disease. The chest pain I was experiencing were caused by the high doses of prednisone. He said I probably can't get off the prednisone to control my RP, he wants me to talk to my Rheumatologist about it. I have an appointment with my Rheum tomorrow. I have very minimal plaque for my age, which is very good. He still wants me to stay on the statin (if I want) to prevent further plaque buildup/or breakage in the future and to bring down my LDL. He thinks that prednisone is causing my LDL elevated. I still have an enlarged artery (pulmonary hypertension). He wants to wait until I get the cardioechogram to see what is going on with that artery on June 8m.That will give a clear picture of PH. If I do have PH, he will come up with a plan with me.. He compared PH like having high blood pressure in your arteries. I am glad my heart is fine considering heart disease runs in my family.

Diane - sorry your CT scan wasn't pleasant. The 2 Radiologist trying to find a artery wasn't pleasant. The headache and stomach cramping was the worst. I been drinking lots of water since yesterday and I still have headaches throughout the day and my stomach. I am so sensitive to meds. I got downloads and DVD's. It was only $15 difference. I usually use the downloads when we are on vacation or staying at DD condo. I will do a workout tomorrow. My dvd's are coming tomorrow. Nice mix of workouts. Oh, I got the ok from the cardiologist to workout, lol. I told him, I was working out the entire time, I needed it as a stress reliever.

Good night.

Good morning,

STS 2 Giant Sets is done. I really liked it. Cathe did 2 Giant sets 10 reps, then you repeat all the exercises doing 8 reps. Very good workout. The music is good too.

I have to get ready for my Rheum appointment. BBL

This morning I did RAW Burnout: Upper Body. I had a great workout but changed some of the moves because I don't like what Kelly chose to do. I also went a bit light since it's been forever since I've lifted. It felt GREAT!!!

Total workout was 43 minutes, burned 251 calories, and HR was 114/149.

Belinda - I hope you are feeling better today. I'm so happy to hear you do not have coronary artery diseast, that is really great news!! Hopefully they can work with you with the issues you are dealing with. I'm jealous that you did an STS 2 workout. Still on the fence on buying them.

Diane - Technology is amazing with all this stuff they have for our health. I love that I can see my HR on my Garmin, that has really helped me knowing that the HR wasn't going up when I had my BP going up. My BP is now almost too low but not dangerously low. I am keeping an eye on it. Great job with your workout yesterday!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!
