Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for May 2023

Good morning :) Today I had an excellent workout; I tried a new Cathe Live workout that I have never done before, and I really enjoyed it. Workout was 2 rounds of each body part circuit before moving on to the next muscle group. Workout was 1 hour, I had to pause a lot to write the workout done, and I burned 452 calories. What does everyone have planned for Mother's Day? I have a Birthday party and a Mother's Day BBQ planned on Saturday, my dad turns 90 years old today! I called him this morning and he was going to workout first thing; I love that he can do that at his age. He has worked out his entire life and he looks like he is 75 years young! Also, he has never taken a prescription drug except for an antibiotic or pain pill after his hip replacements. Way to go is what I say!

Belinda, good luck with your MRI and CT Scan!!!!!! I hate those things and nice job on the Barre workout today.

Diane Sue, great job on the workout yesterday. I do not like the one leg deadlifts, I somehow tweak my back when I do them, so I sub it out to regular deadlifts. What are you doing for Mother's Day? We are having a Mediterranean Greek spread with Chicken and Steak with all of the fixings. I am trying to keep it healthy. I love Tucker because he always laughs at all of the establishment idiots, hilarious :)

Cam, way to go on the news from your doctor. I hate long distance running too, I also was in track in field short distance. Nice workout yesterday! I do not watch the news much at night anymore either, it is so negative and I cannot sleep after watching it.

Roselyn, great job on the workout yesterday. Which trainer are you using right now?

Debbie, I hope you are feeling better today and the same goes for your mother. Keep us posted, I know you are super busy with school right now before it lets out for the summer.

Doreen, have a good workout today.

Make it a great day.

Today I did CDorner Cardio Mash Up Hi/or Low Impact, 44 minutes, heart rate 143/162,239 calories, 3,393 steps. I then started CDorner Arms and Abs with bands, but after 8 minutes, I stopped. I did push ups, rows with extra heavy loop band and side bends with same band) She was moving on to a plank and my ribs are hurting after yesterday so I did not want to make it worse. I burned 32 calories. I then decided to get in some yoga so did Yoga with Adriene Upper Back Love and portions of a couple of other ones that ended up having me in plank again. This was 38 minutes, 41 calories. I am not sure how much I like her workouts. There is a huge variety of yoga stuff. I don't like the breathing stuff and one of the workouts started right out seated on feet kneeling and my knee hurt and toes cramped. I think I will stick with what I was doing before. Chris Kresser mentioned her in one of his e mails and I thought I would give it a try. Total time spent was 90 minutes, 312 calories.
Hopefully my arthritis doctor can help figure out the rib pain otherwise I will be calling my primary to go ahead and set up the x-ray. I hurt all night and had taken Advil before I went to bed. Nothing else was helping.

Belinda, I hope your appointment goes well today. Nice work with Suzanne Bowen this morning. You do better than I do as I just do not work out if I have an appointment.

Jolie, great workout. Chris of CDorner is always giving form pointers for things like the deadlifts which have helped with me. She did single leg deadlift with a split stance as she had something going on with her knee and the guest did it balancing. Right now, the balance on one leg makes my knee hurt.
That is amazing that your Dad has reached ninety and not taken any meds other than for the surgery. It is great that he can still work out. I hope to do that. Not working out sounds miserable to me.
I still do not have plans for Mother's Day on the actual day. Family will be here a week later, and we will do birthdays and I am guessing Mother's Day will fit in there. No idea what we will do for dinner that day. Usually they provide when it is my birthday or Mother's Day
Your dinner plans for Mother's Day sounds delicious.
Tucker's laugh is so funny when he is making fun of so many ignorant people. It seems like they would realize how stupid they are.

Where is Debbie? How are you and your mom doing?

I just came home from all my appointments. Now I have to wait for the results. Hopefully soon.

Diane - my first appointment wasn't until 1:30 pm the other was before 6 pm. I had plenty time to squeeze in a workout. Plus, it helps with the stress. You need to get that rip pain checked out. I hope you feel better soon. Great job on your workouts.

Julie - thank you. I almost fell asleep on the MRI. I usually have ear plugs and headphones on. I used to hate them too. I had quite a few lately. Great job on your workout.

I have an early appointment with the cardiology tomorrow. I will not check in until later tomorrow.

Good night. I have to get up really early.

Hi all. I am not doing very well and am going to see my doctor today. I am having real issues with my blood pressure being so high and my head has been in a fog. I finally was able to get an appointment. Ridiculous that you can't just see your doctor when you need to. So I'm going at 11:30 and I'd like you to say a prayer for me. I'm hoping it's just stress but I've never had anything like this happen before. I hope I won't have to go to the hospital for tests, but I actually might.

My mom is doing well, she says she feels great.

I'll keep you all updated when I can.

Debbie - I will keep you. in my thoughts and prayers. Glad your mom is doing well. I hope your doc will figure out what is causing your high blood pressure.

Hi,

I had the cardiology appointment this morning plus a ton of blood work that the Dr. ordered. He wants me to get a coronary CT scan and get a Echocardiogram to check my arteries. I can't make the appointments until Monday. My LDL is high, he started me on statin. He believes the prednisone is causing cardiovascular disease like plaque in the arteries. He also ordered 7 day zio cardiac monitor which I should get next week.

I went for a walk today.

Have a great day and workout everyone.

Today I did CDorner All Standing Cardio no jumping low impact, 31 minutes, heart rate 144/176, 4,385 steps. I then did CDorner Toned arms with dumbbells, quick, 23 minutes 81 calories, heart rate 104/122, 85 steps. I finished off with a much needed stretch, CDorner Full Body Stretch/static meant for post workout, 31 minutes, 44 calories. Chris holds the stretches for a while. Total time today was 85 minutes, 314 calories, 4,490 steps.

Quick Upper Toned Arms
3 rounds with the 3rd round being 15 sec work and 15 sec iso hold
each exercise is done for 30 seconds
Lateral Raise 8# dbs
front raise 12# db
alternating Arnold press 10# dbs
wide bent over row 10# dbs
alternating twisting biceps curl 10# dbs 12# dbs rnd 2 and 3
side biceps curls 12# dbs dropping to 10# dbs round 2 and 3
right arm overhead triceps extension 8# db
left arm overhead triceps extension 8# db

Debbie, praying for you. I hope they can figure that out and help you. I am glad that your mother is okay.

Belinda, I hate waiting on the results after testing. I do not like mri's after all of the neck and shoulder stuff. I did fall asleep once with one for my knee in the past. I wish they offered some music or something at the arthritis center. If I asked for something to help relax I would have to have someone go with me and I do not want to try to find someone who is not working to do that. My ribs are still hurting. I keep trying to lift up tall and press them outward to take the pressure off . I don't know what is going on. On a good note my knee is feeling good.
I hope they can do something for you if the prednisone is causing artery plaque. Those meds are important for you to keep you in remission. I wish it didn't have to lead to even more meds. My doctor said my cholesterol was up a bit. It is upsetting when I try so hard to track and my cholesterol in my food is actually really low as I track it.

Diane - I do wonder why they don't offer music? The noises used to border me, not any more. I guess, I had too many MRI's done, lol. I don't think they allow someone else to be in the room. Sorry you still experiencing so much pain. Wished I had an answer, but I don't. I do modify when I need to. The prednisone can also raise your cholesterol. I am a vegan ( no oil, no salt, no refined sugar) I just started eating a little meat once a week or every other week. It's not from the food. I am very frustrated with all this. I will take the meds to see if it will lower my LDL. My Rheum told me my cholesterol was a little high, he wasn't to concerned. The cardiologist wanted me on the meds especially with the pulmonary hypertension and my LDL being high. I do have an enlarged artery. I really hope after all the tests I don't have pulmonary hypertension. I need a break. One of my meds for RP isn't working? I do agree, I need to get off prednisone. It's causing to much other problems. I will see my Rheum in 2 weeks.

I will be back later.

ITs been cold and rainy here and I twinged my shoulder and ribs playing tug with the dog so I've been taking it kinda easy. Yesterday I did hop on the spin bike and did a 30 minute ride. This morning I did a beginner 30 minute total body workout on IFIT that just released. It was good movement patterns to not overdo my shoulder issue while it heals up.

Good work everyone on your workouts. Good luck on all the medical testing!

I'll be out most of next week too- heading to Santa Fe tomorrow for the partner's retreat so I don't know what working out will look like. I don't see that the hotel has workout facilities - it a small local touristy type hotel spot in downtown Santa Fe.

So I'm doing a lot better. My doctor put me on an additional BP med and it has lowered my BP pretty well. I don't feel like the walking dead anymore. I had a lipid blood test and I already received my results and everything is perfectly normal. I would think if something major is wrong my red and white blood counts would be bad. So I'm happy about that. My doctor wants me to go to my cardiologist to have a couple tests done so I will do that when they schedule it just to be sure all is good.

I think I am just very stressed with my mom and everything. Work has been so crazy busy and I'm so happy my last event is Wednesday. My mom is doing ok, but she took a fall a couple days ago and didn't tell me. She told me she walked into her door when she went to the bathroom during the night. It was much worse than that. I'm glad she is going to see her doctor Friday. Her BP is low now so I hope he fixes that problem.

Anyways, sorry about going on about this but thanks for listening! You guys are doing great with your workouts. I miss working out. Hopefully I'll feel like it on Monday.

This morning I did Flex Train. I loved it last time I did it, but this time, not so much. I forgot that it doesn't have any weighted leg work. The upper body work is pretty good, though and I did get a good fatigue going.

Debbie, so glad to hear you are doing better.

Sounds like everyone is on the mend. Hope all of you feel better soon.

Hope everyone enjoys their Mother's Day! My daughter's and I are going to bring lunch to my mom. It was such a nice day today, and it would be nice if we could get my mom outside tomorrow, but its supposed to be cool and rainy. Oh joy!

Today I did CDorner Advanced Step from today first part, 23 minutes, heart rate 116/138, 102 calories. I stopped as I was just not feeling the choreography today. I then did CDorner All Standing to the Beat cardio low impact (favorite with fun music) and also added on 12 minutes of All Standing Low Impact Walking workout, 42 minutes, 234 calories, heart rate 138/161. I finished off with Raw Athletic Stretch 2 29 minutes, 29 calories. Total time 94 minutes, 338 calories, 5,844 steps.
My ribs are still sore. I don't get why.

Debbie, I am glad you are doing better, and the blood lipid test was normal. Hopefully the tests the cardiologist does are good, and it is just stress for the most part.
Maybe they need to adjust your mother's blood pressure medication. My Dad had way too thin blood when he fell and was in the hospital. My brother said my Dad had a tendency to forget he already took his meds and would take it again. I am sorry that your mother had a fall. I hope she is okay when she sees the doctor. I bet you will be glad when Wednesday is over.

Belinda, mri's did not used to bother me. I just think it is the bad experience that I had at the arthritis center, it hurt so bad and my neck was in a device so I could not move along with the pounding and then the second one with the painful shoulder trapped in its worst position. There was no relaxing. I tried to sing and pray in my head. I have had breast ones and knee ones that did not hurt at all.
That is odd about the LDL cholesterol when you don't eat fat. The body needs some cholesterol to make vitamin D and cells and stuff. I think some good non saturated fats are okay. No one should eat tons of it though. You are good at using fresh foods and not a bunch of prepackaged stuff. I bet it is some of your meds. I hope that you do not have pulmonary hypertension. You have enough problems.

Doreen, we have been having some rain almost every day here. Nice work on the 30 minute spin bike ride yesterday and the ifit total boy work today.

Roselyn good job on the workouts.

Cam, nice work with Flex Train. I have not done it in a long time. Somehow, I just remember squat press and lots of upper body work. Have a nice day with your daughters and your mother.

Happy Mothers Day!!! I took the last two days off from working out, I hosted my Dad and Mom at my house and it is so much work that I just do not have time for a workout. I needed a rest anyway, I have been lifting heavy weights lately and I am feeling it :) Today I had an excellent workout, I did Cathe Live # 382, Wicked Upper Body, this is such a great workout. I seemed weaker today, but I had poor sleep last night so that is probably why this workout seemed harder today than usual. Workout was 58 minutes and I burned 409 calories. My husband is taking me to a Jumper Horse show today, I am so excited to get into my old stomping grounds. I am an equestrian at heart and miss riding so much.

Great job with the workouts the past few days everyone!

Debbie, I am glad your blood work came out good and your blood pressure is down. Take it easy, this too shall pass...

Make it a great day.

Happy Mother's Day!!

Yesterday I ended up doing an hour barre workout.

Diane - I am sorry your had a bad experience at the arthritis center. My knee hurt laying still in the MRI. The cardiologist thinks the prednisone is causing my cholesterol being high. I will call my Rheum for advice and call the cardiologist.

Debbie - I am glad to hear you doing better. Hopefully you get your stress down.

I will be back later.

Walk outside is done. I walked for 3.5 miles. I needed that walk today.

I will do a light lower barre workout shortly.

Hope you all having a great day and workout.

Today I am sore, so I decided to walk a lot, getting some steps in for the day. I started with an uphill walk with my puppy, 31 minutes, 1.6 miles and burned 197 calories. Next, I walked uphill on the TM for 46 minutes, traveled 2.5 miles and burned 447 calories. At the end, I decided to do Cathe's Power Hour, Biceps only and boy I forgot how long and hard this BB Bicep workout is, I was dying. Total calories burned with biceps was 729.

I hope you all had a nice Mother's Day. Our weather was better than it was on Saturday so that made for a nice day. My husband surprised me with Equestrian Grand Prix Jumper Show tickets and I had the best time, we took our dogs and it was so much fun. Riders from all over the world showed and most were Olympic Riders.

I hope you all have nice workouts today.

Yesterday I did a new morning stretch with CDorner that she did outdoors. I liked it and it is a nice wake up and move stretch. It rained a lot yesterday and still off and on today.
