Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for May 2023

Cathlete
Good morning,

Yesterday it rained all day long. Saw a break this morning and went for a walk. I am thinking getting something else done today. I am falling apart.

My son and DIL are here for my birthday this week. Still haven't heard from the cardiology.

I will be back later.

This morning I did RAW 4 Day Split Shoulders and Legs. Love this workout, it really gets in there good. I haven't done the leg part in a long time, but I did it this morning and it was awesome!!

1 minute each exercise with 10 second rest

LEGS
Heel Front Squats
: 10's
Deadlift Down, Squat Up: 10's
BSS: 10# (I did static lunges, my knee didn't like being up high behind me)
Repeat

SHOULDERS
Shoulder Press
: 10's
Lateral Raise: 8's
Front Raise: 8's
Bent Over Lateral Raise: 5's (30 seconds)
Repeat

Workout was 26 minutes, burned 205 calories.

I then walked on my treadmill just to get a good burn in the legs. I will feel this tomorrow.

Total workout time was 43 minutes, burned 394 calories, did .75 miles and HR was 139/179.

Has anyone downloaded Caroline's app yet? I want to, but I'm not sure if the 14 days starts the day you download it or the day you start the program? I'm also sort of bummed this app isn't on Roku, that means I have to use my tablet or laptop to do her workouts. Not sure I want to do that. I suppose I could hook my laptop to my TV but that is such a pain. I'll wait to see if any of you do her workouts.

Have a great day everyone, I need to get going.

Debbie - I will sign up once I know what workouts I can do. I miss working out. I think the 14 day starts the day you do the program. I am sure, you have to sign up and put all your info/CC into the app before you start the free 14 day's. Great job on your workout.

Today I was short on time after getting out of bed late. I didn't have much energy so I pulled out on old one, RIPT90 Fit and did the chest and arms workout. This really burned out my biceps! Its lunch and my arms are a bit shakey now!

Today I did CDorner Step and Strike, 47 minutes, 247 calories, heart rate 131/168, 3,966 steps. This had good music and alternated 5 minutes step and 5 minutes kickboxing. I then did an older CDorner workout that Chris posted for Sunday, All Standing Toned Arms, 23 minutes, 65 calories, heart rate 98/125. I finished with Yoga with Adriene Yoga for Spinal Health Day 12 of a 30 day program, 18 minutes, 33 calories, heart rate 81/93. Total time was 88 minutes, 345 calories, 4,265 steps.

All Standing Toned Arms
runs through all moves with no weight for a warm up
Each move is done for 1 minute
Chris uses light weights as this is geared for beginners, at 8# and a lighte pair. I went heavier

Alternating Hammer Curls 15# dbs
kickbacks 10# dumbbell right
lateral raise (side raise) 8# dbs
curls with a twist 15# dbs
kickbacks left 10# db
front raise 8# dbs
Iso biceps lowers alternating 10# dbs
overhead triceps extension one or two dumbbells I used 15# dumbbell
lateral/front raise alternating 8# bs
side curls (W curls) 10# dbs
twisting kickbacks 8# dbs
overhead press or option front raise alternating which I chose 8# dbs

Jolie, that is so nice that you are able to spend the time with your parents. They sound amazing. Great workout yesterday.

Cam, nice work on the last day of your rotation and I am sure that you liked the stretch.

Belinda, I am glad you got out for a walk today while there was a rain break. That is nice that your son and dil are coming for your birthday this week. It will be a diversion while you are waiting for results to know what you can do.

Debbie, great job on 4 Day Split legs and shoulders today. I don't blame you for switching from the BSS.. I have heard they are safer for the knee, but I am not sure about that. Right now my knee that had the torn meniscus and other surgery is bothering me. I am okay with straight on moves, but things that twist and turn or put full body pressure on it hurt. It reminds me of my torn meniscus so will have to have it checked out I guess. As we age the meniscus gets weaker and more susceptible. If it is frayed they can usually not do a repair. They may just remove part of it. I am trying not to worry; I have an appointment with my primary for yearly Thursday and in a couple of weeks with the Arthritis doctor.
Does Caroline have her App on Fire TV? I really like my Fire TV and use it more than the Roku for working out. I do have both. Fire TV is less costly as it is only a stick, but works well. I have Cathe on both devices.

Doreen, nice work getting in RIPT90 Fit chest and biceps while short on time. My arms were sore like that after I did Caroline Biceps and Triceps.

Roselyn, nice job on Beast Mode back and biceps.

I did Penny 60 min. Strength & Cardio Supersets. 14 supersets. Each superset was 1 strength for 50/15 followed by a cardio/bodyweight 35/15. Repeated 2X. This is one of my faves. Super sweaty. I decided on a longer workout since it is rainy, windy and cold out. This weather has majorly sucked. I think Thursday the sun and warmer temps return.

Looks like STS2.0 is almost here. Looking forward to new strength workouts.

Good workouts today!

Still have that damn knot in my upper back. It was feeling better but now it's back. Sick of it.

This morning I did RAW Boxing & Drills, this one is on the step with one riser doing cardio moves and then some boxing mixed in. Each exercise was 30 seconds and I had a great workout. I haven't done this workout in ages. My knee is doing very well.

Workout was 30 minutes, burned 272 calories and HR was 138/177.

Then I did RAW Ab Circuits. This is one I love that Kelly and Sammie do together. 3 circuits of 8 moves. I did 2 circuits because I ran out of time.

Workout was 12 minutes, burned 104 calories, HR was131/151.

Jolie - So glad to hear your parents are doing so well. I worry about my mom, she seems to get more frail every time Isee her. She will be 86 this July. She still lives on her own and does all that she needs to do but she seems to get so tired so quickly. :( Great job on your workout.

Belinda - Hope you hear from the Cardiologist soon. I'm going to wait to see how Caroline's workouts are. I know I've done a few of her workouts but I never really clicked with her. I'd like to download the app just to look around. I suppose I could, like you said, they will ask for a CC and if they do I'll just cancel out.

Diane - The Step and Strike workouts sounds like fun, was it high in intensity? I'd like to try it if it isn't too jumpy. I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with that knee again. I'm glad you are getting it looked at. I have no idea if you can get Caroline's app anywhere else. I don't have a Fire stick, I only have Roku. I will search Roku but I don't think it's on there.

Have a great day everyone! Hope your workouts ROCK!!

This morning was a 30 minute mountain scenic ride on my spin bike. I did the adjustment for incline and resistance manually so it would feel more like when I am biking outside (ie harder - I think IFit sets incline/restance easier than the actual effort the trainer puts in)

Today I did CDorner Low Impact or High at home cardio, (low for me), 31 minutes, 143 calories, heart rate 120/147,2004 steps. This one is several different styles. Started with kickbox, then dance, tabata, and last was cardio mobility. She shows low options and I used those as the tabatas were partly on the floor. I then did BOss Loops timesaver #3 floorwork, glutes and core 36 minutes, 92 calories, heart rate 91/127, 367 steps. I finished with CDorner's latest stretch mobility 15 or 30 minute with a chair (option no chair) She does the first half using a chair for if someone is at work can do. I think it seems to be upper first half then lower. I did 19 minutes, 24 calories. I think from what I have read about the knee is I need to strengthen the glutes and back of the thighs rather than the quads right now. Total time was 86 minutes, 259 calories, 2,371 steps.

Cam, nice work with Penny Strength and Cardio Supersets. I hope you get some nice weather soon.

Debbie, I was thinking about the Boxing and Drills workout. I forget it because it is near the start of the Raw Cardio workouts. I like that one. CDorner Step and boxing did have a few jacks with low options. The step is basic for the most part and Chris usually does not do jumping on the step. She turns the step vertical for the last step segment then puts it out of the way to finish off with the final kickbox segment. There is kicking in it. I am sorry that knot is still there. Maybe when school is out it will improve?

Today I did Penny 30 min. Powerful Bodyweight Hiit. She sure knows how to make the most out of 30 min.

Debbie, I would consider a massage if I were you. It will really help.

Good workouts Ladies!

This morning I walked on my treadmill and then tried to work the knot out and now my tricep is hurting again. I think it all ties in together. It feels better today but I know how that goes. After I sit all day it will be back in full force.

Today's workout was 42 minutes, burned 350 calories, went 2.08 miles, did 4828 steps and HR was 130/159.

Cam - I've had this knot issue for years. The very first time it happened I had a massage and the lady dug so deep inside the tissue that my entire arm when numb. Then months afterwards I was in a sling. I won't do that again. My DH used the massage gun to work on the knot on Sunday and by Tuesday it was hurting really bad. I just don't know what will work to make this go away quickly. The only thing that works is stopping my workout and just letting it rest. But I'm tired of getting side-lined with my workouts, it happens way too often. So anyways, that's the story of the one and only massage I have ever received.

Diane - Great job on your workouts! You've been doing a lot of CDorner workouts. I can't seem to get past her talking and laughing all the time. I just like to do a workout without outside interferance. She has some great workouts but that really turns me off doing them with her. Oh well. I love Kelly and love her workouts. I'm thinking of doing Caroline's workouts but I want to wait and see what others say after they do it.

Have a great day everyone!

Sorry I have been MIA the last two days but Monday I went to the Chiro first thing in the morning and yesterday I just went for a walk with my dogs. The walk I have been doing with my dogs is a 2 mile hill walk and I push the baby jogger with my 16 year old dog in it and walk the puppy and get a great workout in going up the steep hills. My dog is 15#'s and the jogger is 20#'s so I push that up steep hills and boy do my legs have to work hard to get to the top. The walk is 1.5 miles and I burn 326 calories in 36 minutes. I have been doing this every day on top of my workouts each day and I am getting in some good workouts.

Today I did the dog walk like yesterday and then did CL # 382 Wicked Upper Body and had a fantastic workout. I did go up in some weights since two weeks ago since this is the second time I have done the workout. Now I know what I should be lifting for each exercise. Workout was 58 minutes and I burned 428 calories. Total workout time was 1hour 36 minutes including the walk and I burned 754 calories. We are supposed to get rain tomorrow!!!

Debbie, great job on the workouts the past few days. I am so sorry that you are having issues with that knot again, it is like my collarbone, an ongoing issue but I seem to have it under control now. Maybe look on YouTube to find a solution. What I have found on my issue has helped me more than any doctor or Chiro could come up with and I think that is ridiculous. I think a Myofascial release specialist would do wonders for your knot!

Cam, great job on the workouts the past few days. How is your weather lately? We have sunny days and then it rains, this is unheard of in California at this time of the year. I am ready for some sunny days and some beach walks!

Diane, Great job on the workouts over the past few days. What are you doing for Mother's Day? I will be hosting my parents to celebrate both my dad's Birthday and Mother's Day. Hopefully, the weather cooperates because it can be cold at the beach in May.

Doreen, great job on your Ript90 workout, those are great! I have not done them in some time, I should pull them out and do them again.

Belinda, I hope you hear from Cardiology soon and I hope you feel better. I wish could workout but I get it when your body does not feel well.

Make it a wonderful day. May we all be pain free today!

Hi,

Walked this morning before it started to rain. I need sunshine soon.

Debbie - let me know how you like Caroline G. new workouts/app. All my X-rays are suppose to be under review with the Cardiology. Great job on your workouts.

Diane - I am glad my kids are here. It helps keeping my mind of things. It's the unknown that drives me crazy. Great job on your workouts.

Jolie - thank you. I hope to hear from the Cardiology soon too. It's driving me nuts not to know.

Good night.

Today I did CDorner Cardio to the Beat/low impact/standing, 31 minutes, 189 calories, heart rate 144/170, 3,446 steps. I them did Raw Back, 22 minutes, 84 calories, heart rate 109/128. I finished with CDorner Stretch and mobility chair from yesterday doing all but the final relaxation on the floor, 23 minutes, 38 calories. Total time 76 minutes, 311 calories, 3,879 steps. I will probably take the day off tomorrow as I have my yearly doctor visit in the morning and they sent a message saying to come 30 minutes early so I am going to be battling work and school traffic. Generally by the time I get home and find something to eat since I have to go fasted for blood work I am not wanting to work out.

Raw Back 4 sets of 3 moves
set 1
seated rows 20# dbs 10 reps
pullover 15# db 10 reps
1 arm row using step 20# db 10 reps
set 2-4
seated rows 20# dbs 10 reps
pullover 15# db 10 reps
1 arm row 25# db 10 reps
finisher 10# dbs run row seated and scap squeeze 10# dbs

Cam, nice job on Penny Powerful Body weight Hiit workout.

Debbie, I am hope you can work out what is making the knot and now triceps hurt. I have pain in those areas when I do too much boxing. I love boxing, but like everything else I guess, overdoing it causes me problems. Too much step and I get knee issues. I get tired of trying to work around those things. Same goes with overhead stuff. I have to work on my upper back and shoulders every day and lately my left arm gets a cramp in my triceps when I reach overhead to stretch. It is weird.
I do not mind Chris chatter most of the time. Just some of the stories that I have to hear over and over when doing the workouts I like a lot. I like Kelly a lot, but sure wish she would quit using a high step for workouts. Even though they are not jumping and that sort of thing it is not comfortable on the knees. I keep hoping for something else.

Doreen, I hear you on the RWH Plyo work. I used to do them as Cathe does. Later though I did modify things like squat thrusts and used my rebounder for some of it.

Jolie, it sounds like you have found a good way to get in a fantastic workout and enjoy the walk with your dogs. It is nice once you know what to expect from a workout and you know what weights you can use. Nice workouts! I am not sure what we are doing on mother's day. I imagine I may hear from some family, but we generally always do special days on the third Sunday of the months. We have 3 birthdays this month as well as Mother's day. The advantage is they usually bring the food on Mothers day. I will probably make cake unless my dil and granddaughter decide to. They have been making a lot of the desserts. My husband just got me all of the items in my Amazon wish list :) New tops, workout clothes and some Jessica Simpson slacks I had on it. Oh, and some earrings and Jane Iredale eyeshadow. I hope the weather cooperates for your plans with your parents. I keep telling myself to appreciate the rain. It was sprinkling this morning and I was worried I was going to be making the trip to my doctor appointment tomorrow in the rain.

Today I did a Tracy Steen 45 min Upper Body Strength w/Low Impact cardio. She alternated 3 sets of an arm exercise followed by 3 sets of a low impact cardio move with light weights. 30/10. That was tough. Low impact cardio with a set of 5lbs really fatigued me. It was a fun workout, though.

Debbie, yeah, I wouldn't get a massage again either if that happened to me. I had a similar experience with a chiropractor. That guy screwed up my neck when I was i my 20's. I swore I would never go to a chiropractor again and I haven't. I was in pain. Nope not for me. Sometimes arthritis in the neck can cause tight achy muscles in the upper back and shoulder area.

Jolie, the weather is getting better. Sunny and 60 today. I hope we get a break from rain. Good workout today.

Diane, good workouts today. I really like Chris's stretches.

Well, time to walk the dog. We sleep better when she has 2 walks per day. Otherwise she is restless at night and wakes me up. She shakes, licks and moves all over the room. The nighttime walk helps.

Cam, that workout with Tracy Steen sound good. Does she just do arm exercises or throw in shoulders with it? So many instructors seem to throw shoulders in with arms.

Speaking of massages, I had my only one when we were on vacation in Jamaica and the woman pulled on my toes when massaging. I could hardly walk the rest of the vacation as it really hurt. I am afraid to try one again. Several years ago, when doing PT for my shoulders, neck and upper back they massaged and pressed the knots in my upper back, and I always went home knowing I was going to have more pain and would end up taking Advil expecting to go home and have the pain hit.

Belinda, nice that got a walk in before the rain started.

Roselyn, nice work with fitness kay kay boxing and shoulder work.

Good morning,

Today is my 60th birthday. Getting old. Not sure, what my family planed today. I know one thing, I have to be ready at 10::30 am. I hope I get walk in today.

Nice job ladies on your workouts. BBL
