Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for February 2022!!

Hello- I did a 40 minute ride this morning with Ashliegh McIvor on IFit. It was hill climbing. I have one more and then I'm finished with the Whistler Endurance Series.

Debbie - no- I didn't have any problems with the seated one arm rows in Power Splits - I use that move a lot to train for Kayaking in the summers (similar seating pulling action) so it doesn't bother me.

Cam - that Tracey Steen looks like a good one - I'll have to look for it on YT.

Good workouts everyone!

Today I walked for 2 miles on my TM and then did 100 reps of Chest Press using 12# DB's. Yes, my Triceps are talking to me today after yesterday's workout. I suppose my chest will be sore tomorrow and I am not sad about it. My back and Sciatic Nerve are doing much better, but I am going for a checkup tomorrow to see if everything stayed in place and if there is anything else I need to address so this does not come back! I think after tomorrow I will be on my way to full recovery.

Debbie, great job on the walk and ab workout today. Burr, it is cold in your neck of the woods today. I have never done shrugs and I do not work my traps because I run into issues as well. I do not think we need to do much of that type of exercises anymore, maybe just upright rows?

Roxie, I do not know what to take for Migraine headaches, but it would not hurt to supplement Magnesium, this is a missing mineral in most people's diets, and it can do some serious damage if not supplemented. I like to use a powder called CALM, you can get it at Sprouts or online, I take it every day.

Cam, the workout you did last night sounds great, I will have to check it out!

Doreen, nice ride this morning, that sounds like a fun way to workout.

BBL to read the posts for the day. No workout tomorrow, but I hope to be back and ready to go on Friday.

Hi,

today I did Legs.

Diane - how are you doing?

Debbie - that is cold. I can't believe I started week 7. Time flies. If your traps bordering you, shrugs are probably not a good idea. Hope you feel better.

Great job everyone.

Today I did one I wasn't expecting to do. I did 40 min. DC Fitt Upper Body Strength and Cardio Super Sets. She hit all upper body muscles and what I really liked was that it was mostly standing, as I am getting a little planked out lately. Each superset alternates an upper body for 30 sec./cardio 30 sec. Repeated 3x. Her voice gets a little annoying so I turn her down and my music up. Anyway, I did 15's for biceps, which is good for me. I haven't gone beyond 12's.

I am hoping to just walk and stretch tomorrow. It is supposed to get up to 50 degrees, but rainy and windy later in the day, turning to snow with 0 - 6 inch accumulation in the evening. How do you like that forecast? So basically a crap shoot tomorrow!

Debbie, glad your knee is doing better. I am no help for aches and pains. Hope the trap feels better. Maybe some dry needling would help?

Jolie, glad you are feeling better. Good workout!

Doreen, good workout!

Belinda, good workout!

Today was my day for not doing PT so I decided I would start slowly and do a little work on the off days, but let the shoulders recover. I go in in the morning this time. So I will do that at 11. This morning I did 21 minutes on the spin bike, 5 miles, 174 calories. I did not get the heart rate as I just did it and entered the stats and named the exercise. Actually the bike had me at 183 calories, but Garmin said differently. Not much , but something. I still keep up my stretches and stuff for my neck and lower body. I had planned on doing some tread climber when dh got up, but he got up early and we went to pick up his laptop from the repair shop and I never got back to it. They wiped his computer so we were getting the pass codes and keys to put things back on it.
PT yesterday was rough and added a bit more difficulty to it. I left feeling like the shoulders were really spasming, but by the time I got home they started settling down and last night I felt good. Got a few chores done. This morning it hurt some and I iced again. I always come home and ice. It has been a bit on and off again. He tries to get the stretches a bit deeper each time and holds it there for a bit. It loosens up those places all around the shoulders and seems to help with the traps as well as the scapular area, suspraspinatus and deltoids after the strengthening parts. I am not sure if I will have PT Thursday or not. I think snow is supposed to come in. I tried to change to Friday, but they were leaving at 9. It will be 8 weeks tomorrow. They have initials on the protocol plan for my therapy and I am not sure what all mean. I think RTC is rotator cuff. Not sure what UEB is as it says mid phase on the 6-12 weeks. Last phase will get in some weighted strengthening as right now I am using pullies and tubing. I sort of laughed when I looked at the last phase and it has coordination ball toss and body blade. I have never been good at ball tosses. My dog has been hit by the ball when she heads out to get it, or it completely goes up and lands back near me. They are in trouble on that one.
They are working on homes right behind us now and my dog ran out this morning, looked at the concrete truck and back hoes and headed back in the house whining. Dust is flying everywhere as it is really windy.

Debbie, I mentioned those traps and neck area to the therapist and he said it is the traps. They have felt like two swollen bumps on my back a lot through all of this. I use the therapy balls on the wall and do some stretching, but I cannot get my left arm overhead yet, and am just working on being able to reach it behind my back. That hurts. I read that the way to fix trap issues is posture work and strengthening those muscles. Rolling is a temporary release. I wish I could find the solution as it does not make sense.

Belinda, nice work getting legs done. I am getting better. Feels so much better out of the immobilizer sling.

Jolie, I hope things are okay for you. I read that you went to see your chiropractor.

Cam, we have had some beautiful days here since that snow, but tomorrow it is supposed to get below freezing in the evening and it is supposed to rain and turn into some snow. You never know though. My husband said rain would be good to settle all of this dust.

Feeling better today, I've been heating my traps and they are pretty good today. I am just going to continue this week as a recovery week, I needed one anyways. Knee seems about back to normal but still feels weird when I try to bring my foot back and do a quad stretch. The knee feels tight but no pain. Really weird. Wonder what I did there?

This morning I did a walk on my treadmill again, this time for about 1.25 miles. The Garmin is WAY OFF with mileage. The Garmin says I hit 1 mile when my treadmill is at .75 miles. My FB used to be pretty exact with my treadmill. Weird how each device is different. I still like the Garmin more than the FB. I especially love the app and all the stuff it shows you. FB charges a monthly fee for all that information.

I also did CDorner's Neck and Shoulder stretch again. I've been working a lot on my computer at work and I think that is contributing to the tightness again. I hate that I have to sit all day in front of a computer.

Jolie - I think I have to agree with you about shrugs. I used to LOVE doing shrugs back in the day. I did them heavy too. Not sure why my traps gives me so much trouble now. Very frustrating. Good job on your 2 mile walk and the chest work. Yikes!!

Doreen - I'm glad that one arm row exercise didn't bother you. I need to make sure I do something different when doing that workout. I really liked that workout.

Belinda - Good job with your leg workout!!

Cam - It is supposed to be 50 here today and tomorrow with a lot of wind as well. Tomorrow we will get 50's in the morning and afternoon and then the temps drop rapidly to the 20's. What a mess the roads will be! Hope I get home by the time that happens. Good job with your workout!

Diane - That is good new all the way around for you! You are getting there! Good job with the bike workout, at least now you can get stuff like that in. Good for you! Yea, I'm not sure what to do about my traps. They have been good until I did the seated one arm rows, I won't be doing that again. I also did 20# hammer curls and even though I tried not to tense up my traps, I know I did. 20# might be a bit much but that really bums me out because I could curl that with no problem. It's the traps that always get me. Everything seems to point to posture. That is a challenge I can't seem to overcome. I try so hard to sit up straight but once I get into my computer work, forget it.

Hope you all have a great day!

This morning I did a workout by Hannah Eden on Ifit - her's are better than some of the other trainers - no so much standing around talking. It was AMRAP circuits for 5 minutes, 20 mintues total. Then becuase the dog had not gotten a walk yesterday I took him out for jog/walk for about 15 minutes.

We're forecasted to get some snow this evening too.

Good Afternoon,

We are expecting 3-6” of snow tonight but it’s been in 60’s all day. I did Cathe Live PHA training from 9/17/2020 I haven’t done a Cathe workout in a long time forgot how out of breath I get from her workouts. No word from Ulta going back in on Friday to drop off my resume I would do it tomorrow but not with snow and ice. Headache is better today and it has felt like have had something in my left eye since Monday and yesterday it was all crusty.

Jolie- I started taking my magnesium at night this week my restless leg syndrome is back

Belinda- how do you put the live workouts in the workout manager it doesn’t list them

Hi,

DH and I went for a short walk with Sadie today. That's all I had time for before saw my Orthodontist today. She found a small infection when she took a pano. I had a root canal a few years ago. I will see an endodonist next week. This will obviously further interrupt my treatment.

Diane - I am so happy for you. You will get there soon.

Debbie - glad you are feeling better with your traps and knees. Keep stretching and modify when you need to.

Cam - good job on your workout.

Roxie - you can't put Cathe's live workouts into the WM, only her dvd's. Not sure, why they are not adding the Live workouts to the WM?

Good night.

Today I just did a Heather yoga fusion and CDorner Mobility Stretch. Just what I needed today. I really liked the mobility stretch, but I just wish she would zip it. The constant chatter ruins it for me.

Sounds like some of the same weather. It was 45 but felt colder. It has been rainy and really windy today. Not sure if we are getting snow. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Good workouts everyone! Gotta run.

Real quick checkin, I do not have time for much else today.

Walked on my treadmill for 1.75 miles and did some stretching. My knee is 100% better, I can now walk down stairs without a stabbing pain. Hopefully next week I'll be able to do some cardio.

Nice job with your workouts yesterday!! Hope you all have a wonderful day!!!

Today I did Tracy 40 min. Brutal Lower Body & Cardio. Brutal it is. This is one of my favorite lower body workouts of hers. I like that the cardio is doable except for box jumps. Hell no. My legs ard wobbly.

Thankfully the snow missed us. Just really cold.

Belinda, how was the Trisets workout? That one looked good.

Debbie, glad your knee is healed. You probably just twisted it. Smart for giving it time to heal so you don't cause further damage. I know what you mean about working on the computer. I always have to remind myself of good posture when I am at my desk. I got a standing desk and use that pretty regularly.

Diane, sounds like you are making progress and healing nicely.

Doreen, good workout. You had a quick travel time to work! Ha!

Jolie, hope you ard feeling good!

Tomorrow is my rest day, but I may do another mobility stretch. I need to add in more stretching to my workout week. I felt great today after yesterday's stretch.

Goodnight!

I still have have not got in another workout. PT has been longer and harder. Yesterday was harder. He gave me heavier tubing for the rotator pull two directions and the shoulder squeezes. More reps on some of it. We did it in a different order. Also had me add lifting my arms up like I was going to make a rainbow from the sides, but not really as right arm only makes it to shoulder level. The other stops to wait LOL. I pushed to do better hoping to get through this faster. Only thing is, I went home with lots of Spasms. It still has been painful today, plus it kicked up the neck pain and I had a terrible headache. I called and told them I was hurting and would not be in. I scheduled next week and this time I got an appointment for Friday early at 9 rather than the back to back Wed and Thurs so I have a recovery day. I have been icing several times a day. My husband got me one of those gel ice packs that wraps around my shoulders and neck and snaps. The Physical therapist urged me to start doing usual daily things without the sling. He says the healing will go faster. I am just not supposed to push off of anything. That is one of the reasons for care with what I do for some cardio activity. All of the strengthening so far seems to keep the arm from pushing. The left arm helps move the right arm. Can't wait till I can do step and boxing again. Mainly I want to feel normal again.

Debbie, Everything I read shows the exercises to strengthen muscles in work on posture for the traps, but we do those things. It has to be something else we are doing wrong. I don't get it.

Cam, I really like CDorner's mobility workouts. LOL on the Zip it. I don't mind most of the time. It depends on what the chatter is about.

Belinda, sorry you have to get a root canal. I have not had to have one in a few years now. Too much time in the dental chair. I still have a whole lot of things I have to get done and another dental is one of them. I think I am going to have to move some things next month. I do not want to as I have had to put them off already. I still do not know if I will be able to do the bone scan and mammogram The first part of March. I already changed it twice. It depends if I can hold my arm up there that high. I have my cardiovascular appointment in March as well and an ultrasound. I cancelled and never made another Arthritis doc appointment and still need the field vision test. Too many things and I am afraid these will lead to more appointments.

Doreen, I bet you are busy with work this time of year. Nice you can still get a workout in.

Roselyn, nice work with shoulders, bis and tris.

We got the rain, ice and snow and roads were treacherous this morning. I went in an hour later and the roads were just ok, at least passable. I hate winter, this has been a really crappy one. Can't wait for spring.

My knee is great now, I can walk down the stairs like normal with not a twinge of pain. It still feels weird to do a quad stretch, though, not sure why. I don't even try to bend down on it, I just somehow know that isn't going to feel good. Not sure what is causing that? Shoulders and neck are pretty good, hopefully next week I'll be lifting again. I think I need to not go over 15# dumbbells, I run into trouble the minute I touch those 20's. For chest presses maybe, but not for hammer curls.

Walked on my treadmill today for about 36 minutes, started a bit late so I didn't do anything after that. I needed this recovery week, hopefully with two more total rest days, I'll be good to go.

Belinda - Nice job with your workout yesterday, how many days is that series you are doing? I thought it was only 30 days? That sucks about the root canal. I have had a few of those in my day. Hope it goes well and easy for you.

Doreen - Nice workout!! Nice job completing that iFit series!

Cam - I always feel like I'm sitting straight most of the time. As the day goes by, though, I know I am slumping forward. Hate that. Nice job with your workout!! Sounds like a fun one.

Diane - I'm sorry you are still in such pain, I really thought by now you would be almost pain free. Sometimes I think PT causes more issues that necessary. Maybe you should set up your appointments in advance so you can get a day or two between them. That's what I did when I was going to PT, I just scheduled them all on Thursday's at 4 for the 2 months I went and it worked out great. I don't think you should be doing PT two days in a row. Even every 2 days is a bit much. I'm no PT therapist, though, I'm sure they know what they are doing.

Jolie - Hope you are ok, how is the sciatic nerve doing? Are you still in pain?

Roxie - Did you ever go back to Ulta? What did they say?

Roselyn - Hope you are doing well!

Take care everyone! I am off from work on Monday for Presidents Day so I have 3 days off to look forward to! Yay!!!

I did NML Full Body Hiit Strong on YT this morning - loved the moves and the combos but i only did 20 minutes of it before the puppy wanted out - so we bundled up and went for a jog/walk for about 20 minutes. I marked this workout to come back to it - it was really well put together IMO.

Good Morning,

I did a kickboxing workout this morning by some besides Kelly and it was awful the instructor kept forgetting what we were doing I was ahead of her most of the time and the combo just didn’t flow. part of our area got 5” of snow but on our side of town we got about inch.

Debbie-no I haven’t gone back in Tuesday I had some in my eye so I couldn’t wear eyeshadow for a couple days then the weather yesterday was not fit to go out in and today it’s only supposed to be in the 40’s with 40 mph wind gusts. They start selling Fenty on February 27th and they have a cream bronzer that is raved about and there lip balms are al rated #1

Yesterday I walked for 3.2 miles on the TM and burned 401 calories. Afterwards my back started to spasm again, so I am in a bit a pain again today. I did what I was told to do, being sedentary is really bad for Sciatic Nerve pain. I really think it happens when I sleep, every position makes my pain in the left hip and leg hurt so it is so hard to find a position to sleep. I have not slept well in 10 nights. I am wearing a back brace right now and it really helps. It must take some pressure off the never so I will wear it as much as possible. My back issue has never lasted this long without getting better, but it was better until yesterday. I take so much Magnesium that it has given me an upset stomach, but it helps with the spasm. I am now using my Infrared light to see if that helps it settle down. Damn, I am so sick of this! I have NO muscles left; it is amazing at 55 years of age how fast it goes away! I still feel strong, I just do not have much definition anymore.

I hope you all have a great weekend. I am praying to the Lord Jesus above for some help and guidance on how to move forward with this situation I have found myself in once again!

Happy Saturday.
