Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for February 2022!!

No workout this morning - I ended up taking the dog on two walks yesterday, one with my daughter who was off school for the snow and one with my husband. It snowed but was nice so we wanted to get him out to play in the snow. And no one else was out so he got to run around off-leash. My husband lets him chase deer so he did a bit of that. It makes me nervous to let him chase deer but he eventually comes back to us. I had the remote collar on him and he does pretty well recalling with a couple beeps.

So I worked during my workout time this morning to try to play catchup.

Usually Friday is a rest day, but since it decided to snow after work, I did Tracy Steen 40 min. Winter Chill Cardio Fire. It was a good cardio workout and an appropriate title for today. I had to come up with some lower impact subs for a few, but it wss a good cardio challenge.

Belinda, I almost did that one today but my abs are sore from yesterday's Glutes & Core and I didn't feel like more ab work. That looks like a good one.

Debbie, good idea to rest the knee.

Doreen, my dog always chases deer in our yard, but she can't catch them. The other day I was out with her and the deer were in our driveway. Thankfully, she didn't see them. I distracted her. I was scared she would run into the road and into yards.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Nothing to really report here. This Wednesday is 7 weeks since surgery. I did not get to see my surgeon yesterday, and no PT Wednesday and Thursday. I have missed PT a lot the last two weeks. Only got in one day last week and missed the whole week the week before as I was coughing like crazy and husband got covid so we were both out of it. I never ran a fever or anything myself. Just the usual allergy symptoms and I did not test, but my daughter bought over her last two home tests and tested my husband and it was negative. She told him to wait 48 hours and test again and it was a fast positive. He had all of the symptoms. I just stayed away from PT for 10 days and changed up allergy meds to sort of shock the system and it has helped. Snow and roads here. It started melting a little yesterday. My surgery doctor's office called the night before and said they were not in the office and said they might not be for my appointment. She called in the morning to say they were coming in for two hours, but it would have been difficult for me to get ready and get there as it is a ways to drive. My husband drives me and he had just come home from work and gone to bed, so we rescheduled for when he is off again this upcoming Friday. I am still doing some of the PT that I can do at home. Although I think that all just gets me ready for the hands on stuff. The hands on seems to loosen up and get range of motion a bit further. It is pretty painful. He is going to drop a few of the easier things and start me on some new stuff. The last change was using pullies. I pull sith the good arm to lift up the surgery arm. He is also working some slightly different angles. Who would have thought this was going to be so rough. He did say once I can get out of the immobilizer sling more and get a bit more functional the pain will lesson. I do like my Pt and he is the only one there and his receptionist so he really pays attention and writes everything down. He knows how much further I have gotten from one visit to another. Also nice that he is only 2 and a half miles away. My husband takes me and runs errands or goes home and vacuums and does chores and comes back to pick me up.
I am hoping he will say I can do a little bit of exercise. I did read some surgeons only allowing walking and stationary bike. No elliptical or anything with climbing, no treadmill which seemed odd to me. I just need to see what the doctor says.

This morning I did Vera LaRo Dumbbell Full Body Supersets. That was an awesome workout! I subscribed. I actually feel like my core is getting stronger. Her plank pike and knee-ins with the sliders are so much more doable at a slower pace. Cathe tends to go to fast and I'm scared I will injure myself. Anyway I was sweating and breathing pretty hard. Loved it. I highly recommend her for weightlifting.

Diane, we posted at the same time. Hope you feel better. Everyone here has been sick. I haven't had a sniffle since covid and have lived with family with it and a friend had it. I have been lucky so far. Those home tests are unreliable. Yeah, listen to your doctor. I found he let me do more than what I was reading. But you had an intensive surgery so don't push it. It's hard for us fitness minded people to not want to exercise. You'll get there. Glad you checked in. Your husband sounds like a great guy. That makes things better. Take care of yourself.

Speaking of knees, mine have been bothering me with all of the sitting, and with them up on the recliner and over a wedge. I get up and walk around and try to move them in circles to get the joints lubricated. Also spend some time in a yogi squat to loosen the hips. My neck bothers me after therapy sessions, because the stretching and pulling pulls on the rear delts, and traps. I try to work on those also and I use the therapy balls on the traps as PT said I could do that area. This is standing. It is too hard to lie flat.

My dog has come in all happy like she is showing me she had snow on her. It was so cold yesterday morning though and she went out and came right back in whining.

Diane - I am so sorry about you not able to go to your PT. Can you do a virtual one? Sorry about your husband coming down with covid. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

I forgot to check in yesterday, I went for a 4.6 mile walk outside and burned 808 calories. Today I went for a 4.2 mile walk and burned 788 calories. I went through the hills on both days and boy oh boy are my calves and hamstrings sore, it is time for a good stretch. It is so beautiful here lately; it is going to be close to 80 degrees all week, so I plan on getting some great walks in for my workouts. I wonder why my heart rate is so high when I am walking? I know I am going up steep hills, but it gets high like it would if I was running. I am going to get a Lifeline Screening done in a week in a half to make sure I am in tip top shape. Heart disease runs in my family so I want to address anything I can early, not wait till something out of the blue happens. I get to have 5 major tests done for $150. My doctor will not do any type of test until you have symptoms and then it could be too late. This way, if need be, I can address any circumstance naturally.

Diane Sue, I am so glad that you checked in with us. I would go out for a nice walk every single day just to get moving and the blood flowing. Blood flow will help you heal faster!

Roselyn, I am just doing Caroline Girvan and Vera Laro's weightlifting workouts right now along with some Powerstrike. Cathe Live seems like every workout is the same, I got bored and unsubscribed, but I know I will go back to it again.

Great job with the workouts this weekend.

Today I did a Michelle Briehler 50 min. Cardio PiYO workout. It was good. A little bit of everything which is what I was looking for. I worked up a good sweat. I like the quick pace of cardio and yoga moves.

I have never subscribed to a paid streaming service, for the reason Jolie stated. It becomes a lot of the same. I am enjoying trying out different instructors and getting a variety of workouts. I have a lot of Cathe dvds and, at least for now, I am content with my dvds and YT. Someday I may subscribe.

Good workouts everyone! A nice winter day so I am planning on taking a walk.

Tomorrow I work a long day, so it will be a rest day.

Today is a rest day, my legs are tired and so am I! One thing about walking, it sure makes you sleep well! All of the fresh air and exercise makes for a good night sleep.

Debbie, nice calorie burns on the workout today! My knees are not too happy lately either, they are much better when it warms up, but the cold weather really makes me stiff.

Belinda, wow on the weights today! Very impressive. I am glad that you can pick up heavier weights again, I bet that feels good.

Cam, great workout yesterday!

BBL to read the posts for the day.

I did a 30 minute endurance style ride (in that no intervals) this morning with Ashliegh McIvor on Ifit... ok- that girl is kicking my butt somedays - today was 30 minutes of pretty much just climbing an uphill route near Pemberton CA. I wanted to add on some weights but the dog wanted to go out so I just ended there.

This morning I did RAW Heavy Bag/Shadow Boxing again, this is the one with Kelly's son, Zach, in it. He is funny. This one has some really good music, especially in the middle of the workout. There is a violin thing goin on and it is simply awesome. Other than the guitar, the violin is my favorite instrument. I love this workout, it is fun and challenging. I used my 2# dumbbells.

Workout was 40 minutes, burned 322 calories, did 3078 steps and HR was 145/177.

I am Scheduling for Solo & Ensemble and I have 582 kids to make sure aren't doubled up with scheduled times if they are doing more than 1 performance. I also have to make sure accompanists aren't double booked as well. My head is spinning but I love doing this stuff.

Belinda - You sure are killing it with your workouts. Good for you!! Nothing stops you, my friend!! Glad you are lifting again, just be careful!!

Jolie - Hope you enjoyed your rest day. I'm sure your knees hate all those hills you are doing. I don't know if mine could put up with that for long!! Nice job with your walk!!

Doreen - Those workouts sound very challenging, nice job!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Today when I woke up, I could not move my left leg, Sciatica at its finest. It took me over 30 minutes to get out of bed and get to the bathroom where my phone was to call my husband downstairs to come and help me. Wow, the pain is unbearable. I did do some pressure on where the pain starts, and I can now move my leg, but it is painful. I am going to try to get into a Chiro down the street from my house since my regular doctor is out of town. This happened sleeping, not working out. I am starting to get a firm understanding on what is causing these issues and how to address them.

Great job on the workouts today, I am sure I will be able to at least walk in a few days if not tomorrow. I went on YouTube and got some stretches to do so hopefully that helps me today.

Debbie, walking really doesn't hurt my knees or body at all, it is just painful on my feet where I have had numerous surgeries.

Make it a great day!
