Getting Our Licks In!

Tonight was disc 30, shoulder, biceps and triceps. Whew! Upped those weights too. This is so cool!

Went to a UPick farm today and picked 30 pounds of pickling cukes. I had no idea really now much I had until I was preparing them for fermentation. Wow! I think some might be for Christmas presents this year. LOL;)

Tomorrow is blackberry picking. Then the garden needs to be weeded and put back to shape since I neglected it this year. Can't go back to the beach until all is done. My incentive to get this done, and my reward is the beach house. Will be leaving for Vegas earlier than expected so don't have much time left for the ocean.:(

ReneeP, You can come walk with us any time.:) So glad to hear your father is doing better. My Dad and I joke around too. I think you are right, it's a survival thing. Great job on SM, I love that one.

Laura, Proud of you for getting back into exercise. You are going to look fabulous in a few days. Nice smooth skin. I've never had one done, but I can imagine how great it will look. Good for you. Here's a link to the recipe I use.

Good Food Day LA and Lady Caraway Kraut | The Cultivated Life

I use Himalayan Salt, but kosher salt or sea salt is just fine (don't use table salt). Lots of people use 3 T. per 5 pounds of cabbage. To top it off (need to make sure cabbage is covered in brine) use 1 t. sea salt in 1 cup of water.

It's really good. Yea, I'm so glad someone is doing Paleo with me. When will you be starting? As you know, I'm tweaking it a bit, and including Steal cut oats in the morning and then this fermenting food. It is really helping me with my reflux disease. I use it as a condiment or a very small side dish because of the salt. At least this is what I'm learning to do. I've always had to watch my portion sizes.

ReneeP, Oh No, I'm so sorry to hear your Dad is in pain. (Prayers and hugs for both of you). Great job on Turbo Barre and SM. Good for you. Keep us posted on your Dad.

Michelle, How ya doing?

Take care,

Janie

Thanks Janie! I will check it out!

Renee: sorry to hear about your father! Are you able to go see him soon? I hope so?

I've decided not to do the second round of Meso Cycle 2 Legs and to go ahead and start my rest week. My thighs are very well developed and starting to look bulky and I worked them real hard this week in my classes and switching to ski conditioning soon so they are going to get plenty of work. I am going to focus on cardio for this week and maybe circuits next week before starting Meso Cycle 3. Ive been having a hard time getting my cardio in.....

HI everyone. I was on travel to Camp Lejeune in NC this week. Got back yesterday evening. Wednesday I finished up week 3 of sts meso1. Thursday was slide and glide cardio and stretch premix, and Friday was my rest day. Today, I started week 4 of meso 1. Yeah! STS disc 10 is done, just a few more to go and then an active recovery week. Looking forward to that.

ReneeP: How's your dad doing? Reading the threads it sounds like he had his surgery. Did the post-surgical bleeding stop? Is that normal? Sending (((((HUGS))))) and prayers to you and your daddy. I'm glad to hear that you are sticking with your exercise as you go through this time with your family. Can only help to make you stronger.

Laura: No exercise for two days after a facial. I have never heard that. But I can understand that you don't want to undo the expense.

Janie: mmmm, I can smell all your cooking clear across the country. Good for the body and for the soul. We are finally getting some rain here today. I don't care if it is the weekend, I am happy for the rain. I might be able to weed my garden a bit later this week since the ground won't be hard as a brick anymore.

Hope everyone has a peaceful and restful weekend.
Michelle

Another rainy day here in Virginia. We are not minding it very much. It rains real good for an hour or so then it stops and the ground has enough time to soak up the standing water and then it rains again. It's been a pretty dry month, so our yard is loving the moisture. Grass is actually starting to green up. Crossfire today. I went lighter (3 lbs) on the weights for the circuits since I'm doing STS. Seem to work out okay. I'm thinking HITT 40/20 and Athletic Step for my cardios the rest of this week. Trying to keep the intensity up, looking forward to the first active recovery week, next week. Not much else going on. Did some light housecleaning today. Have some ironing to do after I finish typing here. Maybe get a little walk in with Ripken before it rains again. Hope everyone is doing well.
Michelle

Well dad isn't doing well right now when they changed the bandage it bled really bad they had to give him some blood. My sister said it hurt him when thry changed the bandage And he actually cried. Daddy never cries in front of anyone. I hate this. They cut more of foot then they Thought and it may have scared him. This time next week I'm going to b with him. I hope I can stay the night in his room with him.

Well I jogged and walk today. I decided to try walking up the hills and shuffle on flat ground so it was lower impact. Using hr monitor to keep hr up and still get the "runners high " as if I jogged the whole time. Then I did thirty pushups. 30 situps. Then yoga to unwind. I hope my method works lol we will see tomorrow if I hurt my foot.

Well I had a very productive Sunday, although exercise wasn't happening! I am going through each room of my house and cleaning it top to bottom and organizing as I go! Two rooms got finished today. I also made a chicken salad and a chicken stock from the left over Rotessire chicken and had two clients. I even touched up the paint in the rooms where the walls were scoffed up. I should realll repaint the rooms but trying to stay realistic! Tomorrow is my 3 classes so not to worried about the exercise!

Michelle: sounds like your flying through STS! You might even finish it before i do!

Renee: ((((( hugs))))) losing an appendage is pretty huge I can't even imagine! I hope you can stay with your dad too! Thoughts and prayers to you and your family!

Today was cardio in the garden. I kept lifting and pulling those heavy loads of weeds and my heartbeat was a going. Also Rolly and I went on our forest walk for about 45 min. Got the sauerkraut in the fridge and now can ferment slowly. There was a lot of juice left and I had a large green cabbage, so I used the juice to ferment that one too. Don't want to waste that benefiting pro biotic juice. Pickles are bubbling away and fermenting as we speak. Smells so good in my kitchen! O My.:D My blackberry brambles all have been destroyed. I don't know why people do that. I'll have to do some looking around for another place to pick. I did get 4 sandwich bags full of berries though. Usually I get at least a couple of buckets full.

Michelle, Hope your travels went well. Congrats for finishing up on STS week 3 meso 1. Great job on Thurs. S&G cardio and stretch prem. and Friday's rest day. I'm glad you took that one. Also great job on for starting wk 4 of meso 1 (disc 10) What will you do for your active recovery?

I love the Summer rains, just so nice to cool off and it smells wonderful. Great job on CF today. Also good job on cleanmax.

ReneeP, I'm so sorry to hear that your Dad is having pain. Gosh Darn It! Makes me so sad. I'm glad you will be with him soon. (prayers your way and your Dad's way too.)

Laura, Once you get everything cleaned and put away you are going to feel really good. I think I need to do the same thing. While working with food lots of things are out of place. I need to organize and dust. You sure have a lot of energy. Good going.

Take care,

Janie

STS disc 11 is in the books. Just one more to go (disc 12 legs, "oh no"). I've decided to do HIIT 40/20 plus STS stability abs tomorrow, disc 12 is on Wednesday, and Athletic Step on Thursday. Essentially, I'm picking up two of the cardios from the fourth week of Cathe's August rotation.

Janie: do you have any idea how the blackberry brambles were destroyed? Did somebody just pull them up? Sounds like it would be alot of effort to me.

ReneeP: prayers and (((((HUGS))))) to you and your dad. What an ordeal!

Laura: I like the sound of fall cleaning. I did a little of that last week, but I only got through one closet and all the stuff I cleaned out is now sitting on the spare bed waiting to be boxed up and taken to Goodwill. I'll get it done, eventually.

Can ya'll believe that September is almost here. The summer has gone by so quickly. Special plans for the labor day weekend anyone? Or just hanging out at home?

~michelle

Laura I thiink that sounds great! I want to do that whenn I get back from wv...clean with music up and open some windows to puut some fall smell in the house! Yum.

Janie gardening iis a workout!

Not sure what ill do today. Its supose to be weights but my hands are aching n bruised geelling atiff. I think its atheist giving me a fit.. see this is scary I know I have arthritis already just feels reall painful I keep hoping it doesn't develope into RA.

Ok anyway I may do my fav push pull or I may try supersets that way not to much weight in hands.
Have great day all
..

Well today kicked my arse and then some! :)

6:45am yoga which i did as well as taught.. Had a new girl who just loved it and raved about it! That made me happy! I love the sunrises on the way tonyoga... Its hard to get up but I surly cant complain about the commute!

Pilates followed by a true blue boot camp that had the class collapsed on the floor! I am beat....

Janie: yummy! I can imagine how good your kitchen smells... Brings back memories of my father canning and pickling from his garden this time of year! Those blackberries do get out of hand up in your neck of the woods! Nothing like a 'farmers' workout! Reminds me of a biggest loser episode where a woman was sent home to her Texas Ranch with Bob and he worked her to the ground just doing ranch stuff and she ended up winning that weeks weigh in challenge!

Michelle: you are being a rock star with those workouts! Good job! Yup actually doing that final step of getting the stuff out of the house is always the hardest part isnt it?

Renee: ugh! Sorry about the hands! Arthritis is a killer! I have clients that really suffer from that.... Hope the work out went well! I opened the windows as i cleaned the rooms... Felt so nice and yes the radio was cranking!

Tomorrow is the girls last day of summer so i got a sub for my morning class so i can spend the day with them uninterrupted... I hope to take a hike with them or something if the weather is nice...

Did disc 31 chest and back, upped the weight to 90%. It was good. barbell rows was 75#'s, chest press using (2) 25# dumbells , flys using (2) 25# and deadlifts were 65#'s. Tomorrow will do garden cardio again.;)

RennP, Which exercise did you decide do?

Michelle, Great job on disc 11. Forgive me, when I pick out a public place to pick blackberries I seem to make it my own. It's not on our property, but in a public place. Sorry about that. Hanging out at home come Labor day weekend.

Laura, Great job on yoga, Pilates and BC. I bet you are beat. Would love to someday take your classes.

Take care,

Janie

Janie I had to do a rest day.. unplanned really...hope today is better. Wow 90% is great! U r so just it amazes. Me I can't even think of what to. Say! Crazy weight lifting 75# on barbell rows? Awesome I am 43 in a week and I feel ashamed! Ido only 30# because lower back but I keep thinking ill go beaver soon. Never get to.. I'm falling apart and it kinda excuse my language but pisses me off at myself I have become weak. I am stronger then people who do nothing but I have one sister who never does do anything n if she walks she hurts or so she says yet she looks Skinner or whatever I on the other hand work my butt off and look "normal is all I can pull off. I am stronger then I look lol yet not where I should b. Lol

Laura 3classes! Wow that is awesome in so many ways! Lol I hope you and your girls enjoy the day!

Michelle it sounds like u are really doing some working out! Are u feeling a difference? I was wondering what results you r getting.

Well I'm not sure whhat to do today. I jjogged n did pushups on Sunday and rest day yesterday... what's yoou all opinion? Weight workout or cardio or both. Keep in mind I'm chunky trying to lose some weight lol.
I. Hope the weather is clear for my trip to wv on Friday! My son will go with me so I can't have company and help me drive. I used to love travel now I hate it. Sitting that long is nuts hate it.
I can hear my butt. Spreading with each mile!

This morning was HIIT 40/20 and STS ab circuits with the stability ball. I need to do that one more often. I end up rolling of the ball on those j-curl ins with the leg extended. I just need to try doing them slow and not worry about keeping up with Cathe. Then maybe I could get in one or two good quality reps on each side. And one-legged inverted pikes--can anybody do those? I have a hard enough time with the two-legged inverted pikes.

ReneeP: I suggest lots of breaks when driving and getting some stretches in when you do take a break. I can sit for about 2 hours max when driving and then my hip flexors and glutes start to scream. I hear you on your lower back concerns. I had my back go out on me a couple of years ago so I am very careful with my back. Don't feel peezy about 30 pound rows--better to do them correctly and build up those muscles rather than pushing yourself to injury.

Laura: sounds like a great day of exercise classes. Enjoy the last day of summer with the twins. What grade are they in this year?

Janie: public berry bushes are the best. It's great that you live in an area where you find berry bushes just "out there."

~Michelle

Mellow day at home with the girls! Had thought we would do something fun, but we all just wanted to hang! They downloaded the audio book of the last of the Twilight series, i have made them wait for the last one as it has a little more adult content but the move is finally coming out so i wanted them to 'read' the book first. Basically we listened to it all day. It is a captivating story! Guess it is good to rest and relax while we can, goodness knows its going to be a very busy fall!

I did do Low Max. I only did 6 inches on the risers though since my legs are pretty sore and tight and thank goodness too because i forgotten how leg intensive those low impact blasts are!! What a great workout! I had forgotten this one entirely!

Since I don't have time for my usual cardio summer activities hiking and biking which takes up to half a day I decided to focus on more cardio DVD's... Better than nothing right!? Between my husband working so much and having the kids who I am not yet comfortable leaving more than I have to yet I just haven't had the chance to get out as much as I would like too...

Janie good job on upping your weights! I love working my chest! It makes me feel strong and powerful! Plus it does wonders for the chest's appearance, don't you think?

Renee: its good to rest! I had a hard time taking rest days at first but now I really believe in them for preventing injury, recouping the body, building muscle and getting stronger! Keep at it and you will be lifting more than you ever thought possible.

Michelle I couldn''t do the single leg pikes the last time I tried them either! Frustrating! I haven't tried them in a long while, I should give them ago again sometime. Are you on your active recovery week now? How is your sister doing? Tellher we miss hearing from het! ;-)

Laura I LOVE lowmax! Just had to add that. Also this one was my first Cathe dvd and fell in love. It took awhile to get the hang id never done a step workout quite like that before. I was so into it I was determined I was gonna get it. I end up on one of the spin over the top or may have been backwards v. I ended up falling on my tale bone! I was hurt for a week.. aaaannddd then I had to try again. Still love that one hum I might do it tomorrow. Lol

STS disc 12-done--and Mesocycle one is in the books. Just have Athletic Step tomorrow and then I'm into the active-recovery week. Looking forward to it. Weather was nice this morning and Ripken wanted to walk so we did our "medium" walk. He loves his walkabouts so much; I want to indulge him and have him get as much exercise as possible. Right now he is at the groomer. Otherwise, just a regular work day. Hope everyone is doing well.
Michelle

Hi Michelle, I KNOW you r happy to have accomplished finishing meso 1. Ome day I'm gonna start a rotation and finish! Lol u give me inspiration!
Oh I was wondering how ripken was doing.. so he isn't acting as if he is starting to have pain is he? I'm glad he still likes the walks that is a good sign.
Oh I did step moves and a premix of kickmax today. I never did that one before so I did step moves first incase I didn't like it kickmax I wouldn't feel bad if I stopped in the middle of it. Well I did fast forward threw some stuff lol. I. Think I'm gonna try the kickbox bootcamp premix I think is what it said. I burn 770 some calories from both of them sm was 320 km was 450 for 50 minutes. That tells you I fast forwarded a lot. Lol.

Dad is getting antsee at hospital now and cranky... he can not hear at all hardly, the doc is foreign so accent is heavy.. dad does not know the meaning of a lot of words either..(he has a 4 grade education). So if they tell him stuff he has no clue what they are saying. So he gets mad.. I told them to use plan words, loud and sometimes u have to get up close to his ear.
He called my sister who was down stairs to come back up there...they had him naked to take a bath and left him sitting there naked! He was waiting on them to bath him so my sis had to run up there amd cover him. He said he dozed off and dreamed two times waiting on them! Poor little man!

Another beautiful sunrise on the way to AM yoga, i really am enjoying them because i know soon enough it will be pitch dark Nd freezing cold! The class is picking up again which is nice. I know its a gawd awful time to get to a class....i. Came home and did only the step from the Low Impact Challenge, which was around 30 min.Tonight i did a weight lifting class, so a nice blanced day...a little yoga, a little cardio and a lift. None of them to strenous.

Michelle: glad to hear Ripkin was feeling peppy today! And now i am sure he is all pretty looking from his 'spa' day! Good job on round one of STS.

Renee that sounds like a long workout! Yeah i didnt get all the combos down flawlessly either but i just kept moving, sometimes if i have the time and patience i will rewind and rewind until i get it down, other times i just keep moving! I am so sorry that happened to your father! That is really unacceptable!
