Getting Our Licks In!

Back from vacation. I took a break from work, working out, and checking in. Three days with no exercise except washing the boat on Friday and walking Ripken (which is light exercise at best). Back to it this morning with Muscle Max. I was supposed to do Crossfire but just didn't feel THAT motivated, so I opted for Muscle Max. Felt good to exercise but now I feel like I'm out of the "zone" I was in. Oh well, I will get back to it--no excuses.

Laura: sorry I missed you over the past few days. Hope that Misty is feeling better.

Janie and ReneeP: you guys have kept moving right along while I've been away. You are helping to motivate me to get "reengaged" with the July rotation.

Michelle will u be checking in during the road trip? Id love to hear what's going on.I can live it threw u! Oh I know what you mean about the zone! That is y I'm afraid to take to much time off ..it takes me so darn long to get back into it. Muscle max is great. I just don't know if ur supose to go really heavy on weights or a moderate weight. I end up over doing it In some areas and not enough in others.
Well yesterday I did ttm low impact premix. Still very tuff workout.
 
Did disc 16 chest/shoulders and triceps. Couldn"t reach the poundage I had the last time. For chest it was 55#'s. Oh well.

ReneeP, Great job on LI TTM. Yep, I agree, it must still be a very hard workout. Good for you.

Michelle, Great job with MM. I love that one, an oldie but a goodie.

Janie wow that is still great weight on the chest ! So proud you are such an inspiration! I hope I can get there. Right now just concentrating on losing weight then ill concentrate on heavier lifting .. I lift as heavy as I can but not the goal yet.
Rest day yesterday.npt sure if I'm gonna do legs today or cycle or I got a dvd from Kelly coffey 30 minutes step boxing or her muscle definition one. Has anyone of youguys tried her stuff? I thought id give her a try since I need some workouts less intense yet still makes me sweat. Or should I do crossfire? Hmm I may save it for tomorrow my day off from work. I must do a weight work for legs this week. Maybe tomorrow ill do cross fire and legs n gluts? ? Confused lol.

CROSSFIRE! And I'm so glad I did CF this morning. I feel like I'm right back in my "Cathe Groove" again. I don't know what it is about these new workouts, but they are really inspiring me to push harder. I wanted to do the Core bonus but didnt' have enough time this morning. Next time, I will try to allow the extra time to get the core work in.

Janie: 55 pound chest presses are nothing to sneeze at. So, you had a bit of an off day--the important thing is that you are lifting weights and still doing a great job.

ReneeP: so obviously I'm in the Crossfire camp today. Let us know what you decided. Checking in from the Roadtrip can be a challenge just because we are constantly doing stuff. Might be more doable since I have a smartphone this year. Chris and the crew also will stream the workouts on the web when they are happening.

That is wonderful Michelle on CF, in the MORNING?! Id say you do have your "Cathe Groove" again. The new workouts are inspiring, I cant explain it either but they are so awesome! I know you are happy. I always love having something to look forward to and i have to say I look forward to anything Cathe does.. Well I think the new ones even more! The music in it is awesome.
It is okay if you cant get to posting stuff on RT, I just get excited about it like im there lol. I understand if i was there i probly would not post alot either to busy to enjoy the time!
I did not do Crossfire today i will do it tomorrow! I have more time. I decided on 30 minutes definition from KCM she isnt bad! I think it was the perfect amount of reps for the weight i used. I usualy cannot do all the reps but with KC I can do the reps and feel like im succeeding. I think ill have the right amount of DOMS.

I think i tend to over due stuff. Like on days i do weights i still feel like i have to do cardio and then i wonder why im tired all the time. Well anyway im gonna try to do weights two times a week and cardio 3 or 4 times. The cardio im going to have high intensity type two times and the other one or two cardios will be low impact or low intensity and see how that goes for awhile. I will do cycle max on thursday i probly will need to do it to rest my foot after Crossfire. It is hurting some today. we will see how it goes tomorrow.

Late check in, but I'm here. This morning I did Yoga Relax. I sure did feel better after doing that yoga practice. Helped ease the DOMs from doing Crossfire yesterday. Still very hot. We are supposed to have a cool front push through complete with thunderstorms this evening--hope it doesn't cause a rain delay for the Nationals/Mets baseball game.

Ripken went to the groomer today. I know it makes him tired, but I told him just because he has cancer doesn't mean he can be a dirty dog. We still have to pay attention to his grooming and in this humidity of late, his fur was really looking nappy. Doesn't seem to matter how much I comb him out. Plus, he knows he looks extra handsome after going to the groomer and he puts a little extra flair in his stride. Probably comes from the showdog genes in his line, even though we never showed him.

ReneeP: I always work out first thing in the morning on a work day; if I don't, it sure won't happen when I get home. That means I'm usually exercising by 6:30, but I know there are lots of folks here on the forums who work out earlier than that. On weekends though, I usually work out about mid-day. I don't know why you feel like just doing a weight workout isn't enough but I can understand why you feel tired after you do a cardio and a weight workout. Whew! That's alot.

I don't know y I think I have to do both either ..may be before when I worked out that was how it was done wed do cardio for 40 minutes then weights 20 minutes for toning everyday lol. But I think the work outs r harder now..not because I'm older but cause they are. So I have to try it like I said see how that works.
I did crossfire today! Fun I did low impact and I still burned 2 more calories then doing the regular workout. Yeah.

Oh gawd! I have to add DH put down his beer this evening to do cathes cycle max. Whoo hooo! I hope he liikes it or hates it in a good way. I put hom on express mix since he hasn't done it before! Can you guys believe it? ! Thankuou Cathe!
 
Sorry about the MIA, we had power problems. Someone slammed into a telephone pole. Poor people, seems it happens a lot here (beach). Couldn't do legs yesterday from power outage so walked (around the neighborhood and beach) 4 hours with Rolly. Got caught in the tide and had to climb on rocks (30-45 min.) to get to the other side. An adventure. Found out why I didn't lift as heavy as I'd like the last time. To make a long story short I messed up on weight from the Marcy Machine. The weight is not marked on this pole size thingy that you put the weight onto, to do the presses. I was told it weighed something that it wasn't, so I'm pressing instead of 68 #'s, 55#'s. Darn! I was wondering why everyone oooood and awed. LOL:rolleyes: Super older person I am not. It did however burst my bubble. Today is cardio and Joey wants to get our bikes out. Will update post later.

Renee, I think you are doing what you can and I'm very proud of you. You are not giving up and that's the most important thing.;)

Michelle, Fantastic job on CF. It feels really cool to be back the groove, good for you! Also great job on Yoga Relax. I need to do that one too. Did you guys get cooled off? Ripken, what can I say, what a guy. Precious.

ReneeP, That is so awesome that your honey did CM. See the influence you have? Whoo Hoo indeed! You must be very proud of him. Yea!

Sluggish day. That is I have felt sluggish all day. Rolled out of bed and thought: oh yick, time to get up. Usually by the time Ripken and I finish our walk, I'm awake and ready to roll but not today. Just felt hot and unmotivated. Did Gym Style back, shoulders, and biceps. Still felt like a slug--has gotten slightly better this afternoon, but I guess it's just one of those days where my get up and go got up and left.

ReneeP: wow, you got your DH to do CM. How did you ever do that? I've tried to encourage my DH to think about maybe doing a cathe weight workout, but to no avail. What is your secret?

Janie: 55 pounds, 68 pounds. Neither one is anything to sneeze at. That's the problem: we get hooked on Cathe and next thing you know we're over-achievers. LOL. A bike ride sounds fun. I keep eyeing my bike that is just sitting in the basement. One of these days, I'm going to pull that puppy out and give it a whirl.

Speaking of puppies: Ripken is a beautiful clean pup again. His groomer put a red baseball scarf around his neck, so he was sporting that last night while we watched the Nationals game. But he really is slowing down. I don't know if it's the heat, the cancer or both. It is supposed to be cooler this weekend so I'm going to pay extra close attention to his energy level. Of course, he is still pretty animated when I come home but after we take our walk and he eats his dinner, he just wants to lay down and watch t.v. Of course, that's about all I want to do at the end of the day as well-LOL!

Hope everyone is having a great day. This time next week, sister and I will be packing for the Cathe roadtrip. WooHoo!

Joey and I road the bikes today. The weather was so beautiful! I would say about an hour. Tonight I did the Wedding Video first part. When I stumbled on the riser I figured I was pretty fatigued and felt I better quit while I was ahead.

Michelle, Great job on GS back, shoulders and biceps. I get into those kinds of days too. Maybe a rest is needed? You know just what to say to me to make me feel better about myself. Thank you for that. Do try to get the bike ride in when you can. Sooooooooo much fun. Ripkin, I can never tire of that precious boy of yours. He's a Godsend, you know. I bet he's is a handsome lad, and he knows it. I know you are worried about your boy, but keep him close and love him like you do. That's all any of us really wants. You are doing great with him.(hugs to you). Wish I could be at the Roadtrip, but I'll see it through your eyes and Renee's. Can't Wait!

Worked at home. Got yet another paper done and delivered. Whew, what a month! Once I clicked send on the email delivering the latest paper to the Marine Corps, I did To The Max in my new Ryka Transition sneakers. Boy, these Rykas feel like you are walking on air. They are extremely light weight. Held up well to the workout. Feel much better today, by the way. Think it had something to do with a really good night's sleep. :):)

Janie: Pup and I will be heading around the Circle for a walk as soon as I finish typing my check-in. I have a spare day on my workouts next week, maybe I will add in the wedding video--that's such a fun workout. I've yet to do the weight work. When you do the wedding video, do you do the whole thing or just the cardio?

My sweet boy just came in to see if I'm ready to go for our walk. Guess I need to get my walking shoes on and head out with my pup.

Oh i am thinking of getting the rykas! I am not sure what one is more cushiony though that is what i need and stabiltiy for the shuttle runs and side to side movements.
So Have you tried Asics and how does the rykas compare to them. I have asics i think upshots the white and champain color they are nice but i feel the cushion is waring out and I think it could have been more cushy in my opinion lol. So do you think id like the rykas?

Janie i hope you are doing well! more walking on the beach? Man did you get scared when the tide came in? id have been afraid to get stuck on the rocks lol

Well I did MM upper body yesterday and......so did DH! But he said was to embarrassed to do it in front of me. Lol he said when he gets better hell do it with lol. Ill Take it. I did peek in on him every once in a while he was doing well!
I did athletic step today. That is only the second time I've done that and I think it FEELS higher impact then, Ttm! Hurt my feet during that one, I wonder y? Hmm. Have good weekend!
 
Bummer of bummers! I have a summer cold caught from my daughters so haven't worked out for two days! :-(


I did get two STS workouts & two step workouts in and one hike though in addition to my classes in earlier in the week though.

The girls have their first swim meet tomorrow and they have to be ready to go at 7 am and it's an hour away so I need to get up crazy early.

Michele: lol! I hear you about the mirrors! Something about Pilates and yoga do seem to make people very self conscious about their weight! More so than other exercise classes!! I am glad you found the solution (turning around). And stuck with yoga and have come to love it! :)!!

Janie haven't done cross fire yet! Can't wait to try it!

Renee are you and Michelle road tripping it right now??? Please post pics,

Michelle, Great job working from home, it must be nice to be able to do that. Also on TTM in your Ryka Transition sneakers. I need new ones. Hmmm will check those out. A good nights sleep does make a person feel better. Dong the Wedding Video is cardio for me. I on occasion will do the workout. Have a nice walk with Ripken.

ReneeP, I was a little nervous climbing those rocks and the tide was coming in much faster than I thought. Had to stay calm and of course made it. Will look at tide tables before I do that again.:confused: Great job on on MM upper body and your honey as well? Good for him!. Also great job on AS.

Laura, Oh No! I hate Summer colds. They are the worst. I think because it's such active months and trying to recoup is impatient for me. hope you feel better soon. Great job on the Two STS workouts and two step workouts in, hiking and classes. That's a lot of workouts. Now try and get some rest please. Sorry you can't sleep in, but the girls will have fun with their swimming. Maybe you can catch up on some much needed sleep later. When you get CF, let me know what you think.:)

Well crap I had a headache yesterday tried everything to get rid of it. I did athletic step... to get oxygen flowing drank water yoga and bath still hurt it did ease up. Then woke up this morning headache again..sick of them! I have already beeen to dooctor before they did mri ..nothing so once again I feel stupid. I know my head hurts it feels like it burns. The only thing. That ever helped was excedrine migrane.. I can't find any. I hear its discontinued! What?
Well I did yoga for a healthy back by I forrgot the name it did help release muscle tension so I decided to try and go on like normal. Stated vacuuming and power goes off! I'm on phone posting. Anyhow it. Stormed awhile but power still off. I was hoping to do a workout but well see. If nothing else I have spin bike an ear phones. I'm gonna read a book for now til power comes back on. I hope it does soon.
