This is such a horrible sad day today. I was at one of my sisters house spending the night and at about 2:30 am we got a call from her daughter telling her that her son died. (autopsy is being done now) We were sobbing and trying to catch our breaths, holding each other trying to believe it's not true. Reality hit and then the numbness. Which I think is a blessing for now.

My poor sissy. Her life has not been a good one at all. When she was pregnant for her second child she went to two different doctors for morning sickness pill. Each one gave her the kind that don't mix because they didn't consult each other. Her daughter is now 45 years old with a mental capacity of maybe a 3 or 5 year old. She had 3 children all together. Her oldest was Paul then Tracy (mental problems) and then Mary from a second marriage. Both marriages failed. Also I believe she has Alzheimer. Only a strong person could deal with that much grief in one life time. My heart is sick for her. She is such a loving, kind and try to do good for others and believes in God, (Catholic). I don't understand why so much hardship for one person to bare.

If you believe in God or a higher power, perhaps you can tap into that and have whoever is up there bring down some calmness into my sisters life. She so deserves it. It's so SAD!

Oh my Janie this is so so sad. I'm sorry for ur pain and ur sisters pain and ur nieces. I will pray for comfort and peice beyond understanding. It sure doesn't seem fair at all.
I know there's a plan but can't ever see or understand it. I pray ur sister and her daughter can see it given some time.

I also feel I will pray for her to get a brake from sadness.. confusion ...hardships. I never can say y things happen but I'm sending a hug ur way! Be strong for them at least for now. When its over then u can unravail on DH. But until then they need that strength from u that I feel is there through the vibes I get from ur post. I feel ur strength they can to. They need it moore now then ever. I'm thinking of u tonight. {Hugs} to you my friend!

Today I did Step Fit. Forgot how wonderful this workout is. Loved every 71 min. of it. Needed to use up some energy and sweat. Will get back to STS starting again tomorrow. Burned about 640 calories. Whew! Memorial Services for my nephew is on Sat.

Yes, Step Fit is one of Cathe's workouts. And a very good one. It's up there with all the other hiits. Fantastic cuing too.

Recovering from the Cathe Roadtrip. Yesterday I did Body Fusion, today I did Total Body Stretching. Trying to keep things light this week before starting a new rotation that is yet to be determined.

Janie: happy to have you home. Exercise is a good way to release tension and sadness. Helps reinforce the "life" connection particularly when you are feeling dispirited.Your sister is lucky that she will have you as a strong, reaffirming energy source to help get her through this period. More(((((HUGS)))))) to you and your family. It helps to hug and kiss our pups too. I'm sure Rolly is helping to be a comfort to you.

ReneeP: love Cathe's yoga workouts. They are just my speed. How is your foot doing?

More in the sad news department: one of my former young colleagues passed away last month in a mountain climbing accident in Peru. The young man's name was Ben Horne (if you google his name, you will find articles about the search for him and his climbing friend and the accident). He was the son of another former colleagueand friend of mine. Ben worked at CNA with me for about a year after finishing a tour with the Peace Corps. He left here, worked at the World Bank for a year, and then attended UC San Diego to get his Ph.D. in economics. He was finishing his degree this year. Ben was an exceptionally bright, intelligent, inquisitive, and spiritual young man. A very rare combination of qualities in a young person these days. He also had an adventurous streak and loved hiking and mountain climbing. Just a very sad event. His faith though was deep and his family shares the same commitment to God. So while we grieve for their loss, I also know that they will pull through this in a positive way. That probably sounds strange, but....what can I say?

Hi ladies
I had rest day yesterday and today ttm low impact premix and yoga. I think it seems to be getting harder! Lol when I first did it I thought oh this isn't to bad! It wad hard but doable. Today was HARD! I almost threw up... two times! But me and son ate on omelet before that...it was greasy so that may be why. I don't normaly eat greasy foods. Hmm wont do that again.. lol

Michelle so sorry to hear about your friend. That's terrible. Seems like so much stuff is going on.
Yes my foot still hurts ... but more after I hadn't been on it. Weird but I'm living with it.

Tonight was disc 20, only I didn't have the disc here, it's back at the beach house. But, believe you me, I worked all areas of the legs until I just couldn't do anymore and then some more. I'm saying I did disc 20, but I didn't, (I put it into the workout blender) it is the same equivalent as if I did. Used the Marcy machine too to get really down and dirty on those hamstrings and quads. Also did lunges with a twist using a band, side leg raises and squats with heavy weight. Also plie (for inner thighs) and calf work with weight. I'm already feeling DOM's (especially when I get up from sitting), at least I think I am even when I don't normally get them. I'll tell ya tomorrow for sure. All my STS workouts are at the Beach House.:( Will improvise when needed though.

Michelle, Great job on BF yesterday and today's TBS. Wonder if Cathe will have time to post an August rotation. Hope so. I'm so sorry to here (and for your loss) about your colleague passing in a mountain climbing accident. Such a shame all these wonderful people have to die so young. Seems so unfair. I agree that there is a positive something or another in that mix. Or at least a lesson to be learned.

ReneeP, Rest days are so nice, aren't they? Hope you enjoyed it. OOO nice job on LI prem. and yoga. Oh my, it was that hard that you almost puked? Ewwww. If I eat and do an exercise afterwords, I get sick too. I wait at least 2-3 hours.

((((((( HUGS)))))))). Janie I am so sorry to hear about your nephew! I am so proud of you for keeping up with your exercising and your posting. I hope the memorial went as well as so things can go.... My thoughts are with you and yes it does seem like things are plain falling apart lately.....I have heard so many tragic things lately it is just to much to handle....sometimes I am so thankful for my workouts to have something to focus on and it make me feel better

((((hugs))))) Michelle such a sad story about your colleague and friend it sounds like the world could have benefited from a young ,an like that....on a positive note I would love to hear about the road trip!
 
Watching the Olympics gymnastics and I am so amazed by these amazing young athletes both in body and spirit!

Sunday I did IMAX 2 which I haven't done in a long time, I tend to avoid these! Now I remember why...

Monday yoga, Pilates, boot camp

Tuesday subbed cardio burn than pilates(just taught) so I did a Rodney Yee power yoga DVD

Wednesday yoga, STS Meso 2 week 3 c,s,& Tri's & total tone where I did bar work and core

Thursday (today) subbed cardio burn and took kids & mom up to Mitchell Lake for a picnic (easy mike walk in)
 
Yesterday was a hiit on the spinning bike for about a half hour. Today was back and biceps. Used the Marcy Machine, weight, bands, stability ball and did exercises for the back and biceps. Oh, yesterday I had very little if any DOM's from that heavy leg workout. Today none. I just don't get them. Later will take Rolly out for a nice walk in the forest.

ReneeP, Sorry about you almost puking no matter what workout you did. You poor thing. Enjoy your workout today.

Laura, I don't have any hook ups to watch the Olympics on TV.:( I'm missing soooo much. I tried watching them on the computer but haven't figured it out yet. I'll keep trying. So very proud of you for your week of exercises. Woo Hoo! Keep it going. How was the picnic on Thursday?

Hi jane you must have misunderstood ....I only felt like puking during ToThe Max workout. I just ate some grossy greasy an hour before plus it was harder for me tjat day. I think it has a lot to do with what u eat.lol I thrn did yoga relax to feel better and better I did feel! Tjat yoga is so relaxing once u get onto it.
Now yesterday I did push pull. That is my style of weight lifting.I'm not advanced at all on that. So this workout felt perfect for me. I'm gonna do it at least once or twice a week. That way I can gauge my progress. The way it is now I do so many different stuff I can't gauge to well. Today I did step blast. I love that one too.. I'm gonna incorperate this one in every week as well. I did it the first time and completely got her done but the other times I did it I only got to the end of the second blast after the challenge. So I'm gonna do it again next. Week to try and learn it.

Hi gang. Been a low key week on exercise. Taking it easy after the roadtrip last weekend. Wednesday I did total body stretching and yesterday I did Step Jam. I'm probably not going to get any exercise in today--just the way it goes sometimes. Looks like sister and I are starting STS tomorrow. I'm thinking that I'm going to take the cardios the Cathe has in the August rotation and mix them in with STS. See how that goes.

The roadtrip was lots of fun and very tiring. I felt prepared for the classes since I'd been doing To The Max and Crossfire through the month of July. It also seemed like Cathe was a little easier on us this year in the Sunday morning workout. That one is usually the toughest because it's at the end of the weekend and the body is worn out. Been a rough week exercise-wise but I think that it because I haven't felt completely rested after a night of sleep. So hopefully, I can get over that issue tonight and be fresh for STS.

Sounds like everyone is staying true to their exercise regime. I have to admit I'm feeling a little burned out--but I think it's because I need a full week of vacation with absolutely no work. Maybe later in the month or the week after Labor Day which is when the marina gets quiet because summer vacation is over for the kids and the weather is not as hot.

Hi Michelle! I'm glad to hear from you! I think traveling takes a lot out of you as well! Maybe once u start On Sts it will get u out of bunout. Or take a couple mors days off. I hear it is good for you. I was looking for you and your sister! I don't know if u were in the pics or where u were at during the classes! I was hoping to put a face on you. Your profile pic I can't see good. Lol I wanted to see what fun you were having. Also it seems from what I could tell everyone is. Ice a d gets along great! It was so fun to watch!
 
Started STS today. Disc 1 is in the history books. Updated my weight amounts. It's kind of neat to see how they have increased over time. But there are still some things like reverse curls that I know I have to be careful on. I am sure that I will be making good use of my paceweights this time around with STS.

ReneeP: Sister and I tended to stay on the left side of Cathe's gym about the third line from the front during the large group exercises. I'm not sure that really helps because they did the live stream different this year. John, who takes the video, was moving all over the place and I'm guessing that those watching may not be able to get the total room orientation. My mother's one comment: you have your hair cut short.

Other than exercise and some housecleaning--a low key day. DH just went to the grocery store and I may stretch out for a nap.;)
