Getting Our Licks In!

Hi everyone. Got back home late Friday night, about an hour before the storms blew through the Washington DC area. We were very fortunate in my neighborhood, we did not lose our electricity. Some neighbors have trees down but no real damage. Not so elsewhere in the region. Sister lost electricity in SW VA about 9 pm Friday night and they still have no electric. Ick. My parents have a generator so Renee and my older sister took their frozen food over to my parents. Unfortunately, their generator gave out last night. So, this morning my older sister and dad were standing in line at Lowes to get one of 50 generators. Renee says it is just absolutely miserable and of course, she can't pop in a dvd to exercise either.:( Fortunately, everyone is safe and healthy, but I sure hope that at least one of them gets their electricity back on today but I'm not too optimistic about that given that electricity is out in all of Lynchburg and Forest. UGH!

Got my new Cathe dvds--they were waiting for me when I got home on Friday. Have not previewed them yet. I'm a little afraid after watching the clips that SNM posted. Yikes! Yesterday's exercise was Low Impact Challenge from the Low Impact series. Today is Slide and Glide. I've got to put the workout shoes that I used yesterday in the "don't use" for exercise anymore pile. Maybe I can use them for walking, but this morning my feet were letting me know that the aerobic life has completely left the shoes I wore yesterday.

Janie: sounds like you are having a wonderful time getting the BH set up just the way you want it. Isn't nice to have all the rehab work done? So sweet of you to send ReneeP some jewelry. I know that she will love it. I get so many complements on the pieces when I wear them. Cholesterol is a tricky thing. Look on the bright side, your overall number went down.

Hi to Laura and ReneeP.

Michelle nice job on ur workouts.. I have never tried slide and glide yet..got it but when I try to do disk I'm not good at it so never felt like doing the whole thing of disks. Lol.

Janie hope u r doing well. R u still at beach house?

So if anyone does the new dvds let me know how ots going.I got them just can't do them just yet. I did do rachel mcleash weight training workout ... then I did a kama movement dvd that is strecthing and pelvic floor strengthners. And get this today DH told me to go get a bike! I got a spin bike and I got a warrenty on it. It is a gold gym one from Walmart. Not to bad now if I can get some music or cathe cyclemax for sale. I went to amazon and its same price there as cathes so I guess ill wait for something. It came with a dvd but its kind of boring ..no music! I may look into cardio coach. I am hoping the foot will heal since ill b doing this bike thing. Then its to the max!

Yea! I just weighed myself and now way 129 pounds. I feel so good today! Today is my Joey's (hubby) birthday and tonight for dinner is Paleo. Shish kabobs with shrimp, butternut squash and tomatoes with a vegie salad and avocado dressing. For his desert is Paleo banana bread with yogurt and strawberries on top. May sweeten it with date sugar. Yesterday was a 90 minute interval on the beach with walking, jogging and running. You all have inspired me to run this time. I loved it! Today Did HiiT 30/30 and felt really good with all that sweating. LOL:D

Michelle, So glad you made it home safely and so glad someone was watching over you during the storm. Poor Renee with no electricity. Did they get a generator for to keep their food from thawing out? I feel for her.:( Yea! I'm so glad you got the new DVD's. Let ws know how you like them. Great job on yesterday's LIC and S&G for today.

ReneeP, Nice to hear from you again. Hope everything is OK. We are still at the bh but will leave tomorrow for fun with our kids and the 4th of July. Great job on Rachel McLeash weight training. I'm not familiar with her. Then also for Kama movement. Don't know this one either. Yea! Congrats for getting a spin bike! It's really neat to have one.

Take care ladies,

Janie

HI everyone. Busy week and it's only Tuesday. First the good news: sister's electricity is back on as of 9 pm last night. This morning she was cleaning out her refrigerator, cleaning it good, and then going grocery shopping. I was up early for a meeting a Quantico. Probably not going to get exercise in today. That is the way it goes. So busy I will be working through the holiday. DH is not happy with me. Hoping I can take off next week.

ReneeP: good news about your spin bike. Sounds like you have a plan to help your foot/feet get better and you still get to sweat--SWEET!

Janie: happy birthday to Joey and congratulations to you on the weight loss. YEAH!

So--yesterday I worked at home because my office had no electricity and no phone service. Power was restored to my office building late yesterday (still no phone service) so they were open today. I had my Tuesday meeting at Quantico and then opted to work at home because I didn't want to deal with traffic this evening. 12:30 this afternoon, they lost electricity at my office again. It's been an on-off struggle ever since. So glad I stayed home to work. Getting this region back up and running after the storms last Friday seems to be quite the struggle. It's just crazy.

Hope everyone has a safe holiday.
Michelle

Did Athletic Step and Stability-Ball Abs (with modifications). Played a little on the spinning bike while viewing the new DVD's. It's so exciting! I was ready to call it an evening. So tired, it must be catching up with me. I may take a break tomorrow, maybe. Great workouts though. Will be going to our son's for dinner and fireworks tomorrow. I wished Joey Happy Birthday from everyone. He says thank you.

ReneeP, Great job riding your bike for 35 min. and Cathe's bonus core work. 336 calories is a good burn. Good for you. I'm glad you are going to rest your foot and concentrate on other things for 4 weeks.

Michelle, Yea! So glad Renee got back power. Sorry to hear you will be working through the holiday.:( Must be frustrating you have to go through all the power on one moment and then the power off the next. Hang in there Kido. (hug to ya).

Have a great Holiday everyone,

Janie

Here are a few photos of the Beach House. One that is truly extraordinary in Westport on Pirate's Day.

This fabulous horse is made from beach driftwood.

There's more, but I think you can get an idea what our little place looks like.

Have a good one everyone,

Happy fourth of July. The Nationals had an early baseball game and DH and I enjoyed watching them beat the SF Giants. GO NATS! I've done a little work on my paper but took a break to exercise.

Today, I was feeling adventurous so I decided to give To the Max a go. Oh boy--what a workout. I was reading on one of the threads how folks are going through multiple towels on these workouts. No kidding. I managed to live through the first 30 or so minutes of cardio. The 4 minutes of tabata (thankfully toward the beginning) go fast and were fun. It's the HIITs that really get you. I got through the first two HIIT segments and thought "how many more?" And Cathe answered: two more! And I'm thinking: OMG, will my legs make it? The last couple of HIITs were tough going but I survived. Next up were the compound leg exercises, which I though wouldn't be too tough until I realized that my legs were a bit shakey from the first 30 minutes of cardio. By the time I got to the core segment, I was on "automatic." Just listening to Cathe and willing my body to keep going. Fortunately, Ripken wandered in the room and provided some puppy love support and inspiration and helped get me to the stretch. Feeling inspired to try Crossfire this weekend. I'm thinking that I better get "used" to these workouts by the end of the month because I have a feeling Cathe will be incorporating them into the roadtrip.

Janie: love the pictures. The horse is absolutely amazing. Somebody sure was talented and patient to make that. I bet finding the right pieces of driftwood to fit together was mindboggling. Sister and I were recently discussing Athletic Step. I think that it is one of Cathe's hardest step workouts. It winds me like crazy--how about you?

Super hot here in the mid-Atlantic. There are still lots of folks with no power and it is supposed to be hotter tomorrow through Saturday. UGH! Hope all of you are staying cool, exercising hard, and having a happy fourth of July!

Tonight after the great family, company, fun and eats I did Cardio Core Circuit. I was very sweaty, just the way I like it.:) aw ha, aw ha.

Michelle, Fantastic job on To The Max! Now I'm scared. Yet I can't wait to do one and see what it will do to me. AS had to be modified by me, but I keep thinking there is lots of room for improvement. I get very winded from that workout as well. A toughie for sure. Sometimes I just have to stop and move on my own until I catch my breath and start in again. My heart goes out to those with their power out when it is so darn hot outside. It seems the storms know exactly when to reek havoc to make people endure the most.:(

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July,

Janie

One day after To the Max--feeling some good DOMs today particularly from the core work at the end. Did Total Body Trisets Upper from the LIS series. Hopefully will get in the additional core work later today. I'm going to try to follow Cathe's July rotation so I can become more comfortable with the new workouts before the roadtrip. I have recommended to sister that she do the same. And the moves are very easy to modify or take down a notch if you need to (which I did at different points in the workout).

Janie: I was scared of To the Max too. But it really is quite doable. I looked at the chapters for Crossfire this morning--that one looks scarey too. But it's really about not knowing the workout. Once you preview and do it, it's really not scarey. Plus, I have to remind myself that Cathe would never produce a workout that is scarey.

Very-very-very hot here in the Mid-Atlantic. Looking at 3 days of 100+ degree weather. DH and Ripken have instructions from moi to stay indoors and take it easy today. I can hear Rippy snoring from my office in Alexandria.

Keep cool my friends.

Way to guys on the new workouts!
Cant wait to try them. Not muchr too add I havnt gotten any morei news. Foot still hurting so I teying not to say much. I dont want to be negitive. SO im trying to stay possitive. Well still spinning did 45 mints today. I did push pull upper body premix yesterday.

Love the pics Janie. Nice job!

Tonight was Circuit Blast Cardio Only and Cardio: MMA Boxing-Heavy Bag.

Michelle, Congrats on the DOM's. Great job on TB risets Upper from the LIS series. Preparing for Cathe before the roadtrip is probably a good thing. LOL:D. I'll take your word for To The Mac being doeable. I'll do it soon, just have to find where to put it in my rotation. Any suggestions? Anywhere there is cardio perhaps? Hope the awful hot weather gets cooler for you.

ReneeP, Great job on spinning for 45 mnin. and the PP upper body prem. yesterday.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Another hot, hot day. Ick. Ripken and I just stick to our short walks. This heat is supposed to break by Monday--then maybe we can do some longer walks. Haven't exercised yet. Planning on Low Impact Step today--a little cardio before tackling Crossfire tomorrow. Sister did Crossfire today and indicated that it was quite challenging. Sounds like might be the more intense (and this is all relative) of the two new workouts. I let you know what I think tomorrow.

Janie: To the Max is definitely in the cardio/endurance category.

Don't know if ya'll are baseball fans, but I have to say that last night Nationals/Giants game was one heck of a game. Happy that my Nats won--but either way, it was one heck of a game. Very exciting right to the very end.

Hello all.. Just wanted to ask.. Did up see cathe is talking about another10 dvd seris! Omg I want it! Even if I cant do alot...lol. I did spin again did a hiit workout I got from itunes. I only burned 270 calories for 31 mints. I was sweating bad so I was dissapointed then calories burn wasnt higher.
Janie how is then dizziness? I hope your gettn better.
Michelle ripken is probly hating the weather. M poor lab is. I have to bring him inside for a while.
I went to see Magic Mike today with my niece! Lol

Rest day today. Will start STS Meso 2 the day after tomorrow.

Michelle, Glad you enjoyed the baseball game. Glad to hear the heat will subside on Monday and then back to normal routines. I'm going to try To The Max tomorrow.

ReneeP, I did see the posts about her new up coming DVD's. I'm very excited! My dizziness is gone, it was because I didn't eat before the cholesterol test. All is good now.

Take care,

Janie

I can't believe Cathe is already planning the next set of workouts. The woman is unbelievable and an inspiration. Speaking of new workouts, I did CrossFire today. I'm going out on a limb here, but I think CrossFire is just a tad more intense than To The Max--mind you, neither one of these workouts is a walk in the park. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being up there, these are like 15 and 16. I have to say that I experienced a moment in each when I just thought: you've got to be kidding--how am I supposed to keep going? Kind of a mental/physical hump that I hit. Somehow I think Cathe knows when she pushes you to that limit in a workout because she gives you just a little more rest and an exercise set that is not as intense.

Janie: looking forward to hearing how you feel about the new workouts. Will you mix them in with STS?

ReneeP: you are doing great keeping the exercise to activities that are not putting stress on your feet. I know this has got to be majorly frustrating, but in the long run, better to heal. How do you keep count of how many calories you burn when you exercise? I'm always looking at those cardio monitors but not sure how good they are.

Just in case anyone is wondering: temperature in Stafford, VA is 104 degrees at 3 pm. I don't know how the Nationals are going to play baseball in an hour. UGH!
~michelle

Michelle I am frustrated but im glad I have they spin bike. I like ur commentary on the workouts! At least I have them so one day ... Yes it is strange but if im on foot to much it feels like it is braking.. But my back hurts when I sit to long. Oh well. I am waiting 4th weeks but it seem like its been 4th wks already. But its only been two weeks! Grrr

Hello ladies!!

Im so stoked !! I did To the max to day! All of it! No premixes, I did the regular workout, it is fun went by fast, I felt great today and my foot was not bothering me this morning, so i thought okay ill try just 10 minutes, then i was still feeling good no pain in foot yet. If it came to jumping i jumped but lightly and not high, or i modified where i knew how to. I dig squat digs no jumping and so forth. I staddle jumped but not over the step it was on the floor. the step taps was done on the end of the bench! I am so so happy I burned 432 calories in 45 minutes! WHAT? LOL that is according to my HRM.. When i wanted to quit the song Stronger came on and it gave me even MORE energy to keep going. It can be modified and i can make it harder even, This workout is really a great workout becaue it will push you, yet you get out of it what you put in and it I can grow into even with the way to make it harder as time goes on. Oh yes i did have to take a breather on the HIIT like instead of 30 sec all out i did 25 sec then rested so on. I used lighter weights as well so i will have room to grow. Love love the music!

Last night was To The Max. Very challenging for me and a lot of room for growth. How can people get all the way through that without modifying? Used less risers. Man I need to get stronger! I was sweating buckets! Will do it on a regular bases to get stronger and hopefully add risers equal to Cathe and crew, someday. Can't wait to do CrossFire in two or three days. Will post later tonight for STS weight training.

Michelle
, I'm so excited about the new DVD's cmming up! Does she ever slow down? I sent Cathe a pair of earrings and a necklace and made them from her 2012 calendar from month of March, for her birthday coming up next week. Do you think she might like them? I noticed her Gym is purple so I tried to find the purple beads and made them that color. I did this because she changed mine and Joey's life forever for the good. Like you.;) Oh yes! I'm going to use these new workouts on my cardio days with STS (easier said then done). I start STS weight training tonight. Terrific job on CrossFire. If it's more intense than To The Max, then I better get my game face on. You describing the new workouts is exactly how I feel. That heat has got to be getting on nerves and bodies. I feel for you all! How did the Nationals do in it?

ReneeP, Fantastic job on To The Max! Good for you! Love your review on the new workout.

Take care everyone,

Janie
