Getting Our Licks In!

Hi gang. Sorry about being MIA the last few days. I did 4DS kickbox on Wednesday (why am I always surprised at how much fun the cardio is?) and 4DS LIS yesterday. Today I will be doing cardiofusion step premix, I think. I am ashamed to say that I have not made a doc's appt yet for my vertigo. It comes and goes. Learning to deal with it. I know that's not necessarily the answer.

Janie: just got a text from sister. She is not feeling well either. Hers is a stomach thing though. Hrumph. Hope you are feeling better.

ReneeP:good job on 15 pound flys. I go back and forth between 15 and 20 pounds on flys--depends on how fast the reps are. If the reps are slow, I can go with 20; if faster tempo, then usually 15. You probably are finding the same. Making the jump from 15 to 20 or from 20 to 25 is like a huge deal. Per our missing Shadowpup's recommendation, I asked my DH for a set of pace weights either for my birthday or Christmas a couple of years ago. Pace weights are half pound magnetic weights that you put on your dumbbells that allow you to up your weight amounts much more manageably. They are available online. If you google pace weights, you will find the link. Word of warning though; they are not cheap--that's why I asked my DH to get them for me as a gift because I knew I was too cheap to splurge on myself. LOL!

Laura: good to have you drop in. Know that you are one busy, busy lady.
Will ya'll be heading south anytime this summer?

Laura well I don't do a rotation I just do a DVD or jog whatever I feel like I do try to do weight two or three times a week. I do step or jog three four times. I get overwhelmed at times cause if I have a rest day...well I think I have to make it back up and can't think should I start back weight or cardio so sometimes I do both if I can. As far as diet I am on myfitness pals counting calories and hate to say but I gained 5 pound ..I don't think I do good on that. If I put in calories I burn for excercise it says o can eat more. O think its wrong. So I have cut out peanut butter. I guess I'm doing trial an error. Along time ago I lost 70 pounds by eating low fat and exercise but hard to find low fat now. It sounds like u r doing great on paleontology!

Michelle you sound busy to! Missed you. Hope sis gets better soon!

Laura, I don't know where you got your information from but you can't eat bacon or it's grease. It's to Fatty! It takes me only about 15-30 min. using the microwave to cook a perfect Paleo meal. I use The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain, Ph.D. I'll give you a great link of the list of foods where you can get started right away the right way. Also don't eat prepared or processed foods. NO! It's so easy to make your own. There are condiment recipes in the Loren Cordain book. Also you will need to add vitamins.

Paleodiet Foods

In this list it says you can eat beans (green beans, peas, snow peas...), but you can't, other than that it's a really good list. Also you can tweak the diet that matches you but lean towards more of a Paleo Diet. When you eat meat get cuts that are very very very lean. You poor thing, if you keep going the way you are you will gain weight and be in poor health.

Cooking meat can be done in the oven, microwave, steamer, crock pot...then fresh or steamed vegetables and your fresh fruit. Then to add good oil use olive, coconut, flax seed, nuts and seeds, avocado, coconut milk...read the list. Shouldn't take you long to get a meal together in fact on a moments notice you should be able to prepare a meal right away. In the next 10 days while you are cleansing, take some time to read up on this diet.

Great job on yoga from your training. If you have any more questions about the Paleo Diet I'm here to help.

Tonight was Low Intensity Step with weight work on shoulders, calves and abs. I got through the Step workout with modification because of the choreography, but only went through 4 rounds on the shoulder weight work. My strength zapped out when it came time for calves and abs. There was no way.:( On the good side, I went food shopping and wore my size 6's today. Just a tad snug, but that's OK. Yeah! I lost another pound, sure is confusing how weight loss occurs, but hey, I'll take it!:D

Michelle, Great job on 4DS Kickbox on Wed. I love the cardio too in this one.:) And also on 4DS LIS yesterday. Please go see a doctor about your vertigo OK? It should have worked itself out already. Time to do that for yourself. Tell Renee hope she's feeling better soon.

ReneeP, Some people (I'm one of them) can't eat as many calories as reccommened so we have to eat less. When you eat more meat and less vegies and fruit, you are not as hungry. Might want to try that. And really try to control portion size and eat 3 meals a day. Portion size is a lot smaller than you think. But like I said, the meat will keep you from getting hungry. You can do it.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Great job.. 6! Wooohooo!
I know u r happy.LOL. great job on the workouts!
Michelle hope u do either get better or see a doctor. That's scary.

I jogged today did two miles walked one. Tried to work on speed today. I may do something else later. Got to keep painting.. LOL

Today I finished my shoulders, calves and abs. Yesterday Joey and I took our huge couch apart and packed it to take to the beach house. I had a surprise waiting for me when I got up this morning. Joey unpacked my spinning bike and was putting it together. I was so excited. Tonight was trying to get acquainted with the bike and could only do a steady state for about 20 min. Man, it's a lot harder than I expected. Whew! It's also because I'm still a little sick and getting better. Also didn't do the cardio part of BC but did do biceps and triceps. Was a lot of strength work, and little cardio, but will catch up on it tomorrow. I'm pooped. Joey will go to the beach house tomorrow and when he's done doing some work will call for me to come over. Will move our kitty and a few other things and will stay there for a much longer period of time. Will also move some weight over and stuff like that so I can workout like I do here.

ReneeP, Great job on two miles of jogging and one mile on walking. You go so much farther than I do I think. When I'm at the beach I go longer.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Oh my Gawd congratulations on bike! What kind if you don't mind me asking. I hope I get one soon.
Gonna do 4 DS his. Trying the June rotation.
Trying to see if I feel like doing church this morning. I know I should ... I just never like leaving the house anymore. I go to work and that is it and church. What wrong with me. Lol

Well, the past couple of days the vertigo seems better. I know I should probably go see a doctor but at this point I'm not sure what a doctor woudl do for me other than tell me that I've had/have vertigo and it seems to be slowly going away. I'm noticing that when I get 8 or more hours of sleep at night, it is much less noticeable. I was supposed to do yoga relax yesterday and a day break today, but I took a 2 day break. Unless I decide to do the yoga later today. This week on the June rotation looks like a challenge. Cathe is doubling up some days on weight work and cardio. For example, tomorrow is upper body pyramid and HIIT 40/20--THAT will be a challenge.

Little Rippy is doing pretty good. He is such a sweet, sweet dog. Can you love a dog too much? I just don't think so. He is stretched out here in the salon in front of his fan getting a good snooze. Living "the life of Ripken" as we like to say.

Paleo Diet: so I get the basic idea of the paleo diet--and it sounds good, but I find that if I just avoid things like sweets, chips, and processed food and try to eat smaller portions, in general, that I do okay with my weight. DH always says that if he wasn't around, I probably wouldn't eat. He is right, because I probably would just skip dinner at night, although I would have my breakfast and lunch. Alcohol is the one thing that seems to throw my metabolism off. I'm not much of a drinker but I will have an occasional rum and coke or glass of wine. I probably average two drinks a week over the course of the summer and then nothing in the fall, winter, and spring.

ReneeP: Welcome to the June rotation. I think you will enjoy it. I know that you are not typically a "rotation" person, so I'll be interested to hear how you feel about the experience.

Janie: what a nice surprise from Joey--putting together your spin bike. The only time I do spin (twice to date) is during the Cathe roadtrip. She has a great spinbike instructor. Did you get Cathe's spin workout? I have it, but have not tried it although it has gotten great reviews on the forum.

Watching the Nationals baseball game with my two boys and just hanging on the boat. Happy weekend.

Hello ladies
II did 4DS HIS ...man I don't remember that one being so tricky when I first did it. LOL. Loved the chest and weight workout. Yes michelle I'm hoping I can stick to the rotation. I don't have a lot of what's on there so I may have to flub some.
Have great evening guys. Oh my foot was hurting some not to bad. I hate saying every thing that is hurting LOL. I don't want to whine to much.

Tonight was 4DS HIS with weight on back and chest. I managed to equal with Cathe all the way through the weight work. Cardio was another matter. I fudged a lot of it but was able to keep going for the entire time. Got my heart rate up and sweated.

ReneeP, The bike is a ProForm. I love it, hope you get one too. Great job on 4DS HIS. The step workout is challenging for sure. Congrats on getting a rotation to do. I hope you will like it. Subbing is good. Hope your foot gets better sweetie, glad it's not hurting so much this time.

Michelle, Enjoy your two day break. It should also help with the vertigo I think. I don't think you can love a dog to much. I feel that way with my dear animals too. I do have Cathe's CycleMax and watched it. I'm not ready for that yet! WOW, I need to break myself into it first. LOL:)

Take care,

Janie

Today is rest day per the rotation LOL. And it is a normal rest day neat how it worked out.
Great job Janie on the weight dang! LOL. You Making me feel weak! Jk.

No u can't love ur dog to much. I so love my animals. One in perticular she just minds so well and she looks at me. Like she knows what I'm saying. She makes me smile just to look at her. I hold her and gently kiss the side of her head and she actually leans her head into me and closes her eyes. LOL shell do that till I stop kisses and she brings head up to look at me LOL then ill start to kiss and she leans her head into my lips. People seen her do it and its so cute ..

Gosh I hope I make it through this week of the June rotation. This morning was HIIT 40/20 and pyramid upper body. I ran into some technical difficulties with my PUB dvd; it just wouldn't load in the dvd player. So I did HIIT first and then finally gave the dvd a nice wash with warm soapy water. THAT did the trick and the dvd played. However, I was running short on time so I just did the pyramid up premix. I was determined to do 10/12/15 pound dbs on the bicep hammer curls and regular curls and I DID! Those 15 pound curls are hard, but I sucked it up and got em done. WooWEE!

I heard on the news that taking calcium tablets now has risks. It can cause heart attacks and strokes...I looked up the research they did and it's true.:( The researchers had these results from last year! Even asked my doctor if this is true, she said there are studies who support it. Dang!

We talked about a diet with 1200 mg of calcium in the food. Been struggling to balance this into my diet, (yogurt, collards black strap molasses, sesame seeds...) but found out today that I'm back to 133 pounds. Will have to cut down to find the right portion for me and still have enough calcium to protect my bones. I think it was the yogurt that got me into trouble and/or perhaps the greens and will cut them in half to see what happens.

In the mornings I do take a multivitamin that has 200 mg of calcium in it. May have to take an extra 1/4 of a calcium chew in the middle of the day so I don't go overboard on the eating. Been on these things for years and years and do feel their effects. Heart palpitations, itchy skin especially around the feet and a little around the hands...some of the symptoms of calcium intake. What surprised me is that my hands and feet last night were itchy from plant based calcium. Hmmmm. I'll figure it out.

Hypochondriac me I guess. "The idea is to die young as late as possible." I truly believe in that quote from Ashley Montagu. Once I reach my weight goal, will again put it in my signature.

Planning on a HiiT tonight to try and lose that extra weight I gained. Tomorrow will be my rest day.

ReneeP, Animals, especially dogs (I think), have the most wonderful knowledge/instinct of knowing if a person is good or not. She seems to love you so with all that affection she is showing towards you. She is so unique! Enjoy your rest day and your little dog too. LOL;)

Michelle, Great job on HiiT 40/20 and PU Prem. I never thought about washing dvd's with soap and water. Thanks for the tip. Congratulations on doing 10/12/15 pounds dumb bells on the bicep hammer and regular curls. Yea!!!!!!!

Take care ladies,

Janie

Oh my Gawd! Michelle that is awesome!
Janie. I take calcium suppliment to for osteopnea now I am a Med assistant and I thought about that.. calcium in the blood isn't good. And I know the doc thought I am crazy but really.. I kept taking it. But I kept thinking if MT body :Sentnal absorbing calcium like it should and I keep taking these ..isn't there a chance it can be dangerous. I am constently trying to figure it out! Mad really. That's like every year they change stuff up. On the fitness front and vitamins. Then they go back to an older way of doing it. Like chicken soup... it does not help colds they said for years. Then all of the sudden oh studies show grandma was right! It does help shorten colds! LOL. Grrr

Wow I thought I was doing better about checking in.... But turn out I missed quite a lot again, I did just read all the posts since my last post the past Thursday, so I've caught up on all y'all

Now for my check in

Friday I did an online yoga class (beginner so not strenuous) and also a 45 minute Pilates on line class. Strange how over an hour of exercise didn't feel like much, but it's ok not to go full throttle all the time right?

Saturday was the girls1st day of summer and my rest day. A big going away party for one of the families from he girls class that evening in Boulder.

Sunday I did STS Meso 2 week 1 back & bi's and 4DS LIS (had to do some 4DS hearing about it from yall it's some of my favorite short cardio ever!!). So much fun & even though I hadn't done it in ages the choreography is so familiar I could just dive right in! :)

Today 2 yoga classes this morning (taught don't do). And Privates and Pilates & Boot camp(did those) and shuffling kids about Ned dealing with the house painter.... So I'm wiped out!!!

Michelle: wow that rotation sounds like a TAWANDA workout! I'll have to check it out! I feel like I'll never get through STS with all these extra classes I'm subbing this summer, I need to be careful about over training and repetitive use injuries....and of course you can never love that sweet pup to much!

Renee: so you are doing the June rotation? Cool!! Sorry your foot hurts again. It does seem you post it hurts post runs ....is that your experience? I hope it stops bothering you soon! Tat sounds cute with your pet!

Janie: I got that from a Paleo website.... Coconut oil, olive oil, flaxseed oil, AND any kind of rendered fat.....I have lost 6 lbs already, but it does just seem wrong to cook in bacon fat but oh so yummy!!! 4lbs till my 10 lb goal but I think I'll keep on going!
Thats so sweet Joey putting your bike together for you! Your so lucky he s so supportive of your fitness goals

My goodness Laura! Do u ever get tired! I love your energy and pep!
I think it hurts after step and I have to do something different so I do a light jog. I can't do a lot of turns and jumps but ill do it for two days then jog. Then I'm hurting but I feel it after step.
I think myself I am addicted to this web site. LOL I love reading all the post and then I gotta post. Have a good night.

Yesterday instead of 30/30 Rolly and I went for a walk in the woods for about 40 min. Sickness seems to be gone. Did HiiT 30/30 with less modifications. Love improving, so powerful to me. Sweaty mess. Yea! I think I've got the calcium thing understood now. Not taking any more supplements with calcium in them at all (found lots of foods that are rich in calcium and all the vit. you need in a multi-vit. tablet) and relying and tweaking just a bit, yet again the Paleo Diet to include Calcium rich foods. Have to watch portion size but I think I've got it! I'm so grateful. This diet and nutrition thing (along with new research in the news) is such a challenge, love to solve the puzzles with lots of help from here, the forums and internet searches. Whew! Ordered two fig trees for the property and also a vegetable called komatsuna or another name is Japanese mustered spinach, both very very rich in calcium. Found out that dates also has a lot of calcium in them. I use it along with the Black strap molasses to sweeten things. Hmmmmmm I'm having fun and the worry wort in me is over.:D What drama will I come up with next! LOL

ReneeP, I'm glad they are doing research on things and I know sometimes it's a drag, but I like to be informed one way or another. Keeps us updated. LOL:D

Laura, I think you are doing great with your exercises last week. I also enjoy 4DS except maybe HIS cardio. That one is tough for me, the choreography anyhoo. For short cardio's I like the HiiT's better than that one.LOL:D Congratulations for losing 6 pounds. Isn't it a great feeling! Yes, my Joey is the man.:DHe spoils me sometimes.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Hi! Yesterday I subbed two classes, a cardio sculpt class & a yoga class then I went to Boulder t get my hair done. I like it! It seems so expensive to get your hair done these days! I am trying to go less frequently so last month I just got a cut and yesterday I did partial high lights and a bang trim so hopefully I don't have to go for awhile......

Today I taught my early bird yoga and actually had 5 peeps ! :)))))) then I went to Boulder (again) to do a private and en my mom took me and the girls to a birthday lunch for me and an end of elementary school celebration for the girls. I got dressed up and it was very nice then back up to the Rec center to teach another class!! Phew! I am beat! With my two new yoga classes and subbing for two teachers I have been teaching 6 more classes a week than my 'normal' schedule throw in the last week of school and all he extra events and going away parties, and my mom being out of town it has been beyond crazy! I haven't really had a chance to do my own workouts other than the one I posted last time!

Janie; yeah 6 lbs makes a big difference! I have had so many compliments I love IT! I can't believe I even tried to start Paleo right now with everything going on in my schedule! Today I dd have a yummy chocolate truffle for desert!!!! :)))

Renee: oh yeah I bet step can bother your foot! It is intense on he for/ankles al that jumping and twisting and leaping about! I love Cathe's step though I wish I had more time to do it

Tonight was 4DS Kickbox. Was able to keep up with Cathe except I took longer breaks in the 5 riser leg presses. Also I couldn't do abs. Will do them tomorrow. Truly my legs are just like jello. OMG! Wonderful workout.

Laura, Happy Birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to Laura, Happy Birthday to you, And many more!!!!!!!!!!!

You were amazing with all the classes you did yesterday! Good job on pampering yourself and getting your hair done. Great job on teaching today's early birds and a private session. So glad you enjoyed your dressed up birthday luncheon with your girls and mom and celebrating end of elementary school. Wow! And after all that taught yet another class. Like I said, you are amazing! I don't think you have to worry about doing your regular exercises with all the classes you are teaching. My goodness. Hmmmmm I love chocolate truffles, one of my downfalls. Enjoy it birthday girl.

Janie

Laura happy birthday! I thought I posted that. Oops.

Jane good job on Kickboxing. I am supose to do "that I think. I hope my foot holds up. I'm getting so so mad. I think I am gonna try a chiropractors! Have apt today.. orthopedic had said meds then surgery. I'm gonna c what chiropractic can do! Gawd I want to be normal again. I did the bootcamp the other night alleluia the jumps made something pop! So so confused why is it I can't just exercise long enough to at least lose a few pounds. I guess I have to barely eat.! I'm sorry I sound so negitive but I feel I'm falling apart. My back ...elbow...foot! . I'm to young for this. And I do have a high pain tolerance! So frustrated.
