Getting Our Licks In!

I actually did post last night, but all of a sudden my cursor didn't work, and that was towards the end of all the messages. Joey seemed to have fixed it, so here it goes again. Joey and I did TBS, abs and stretches. I walked Rolly for about 30 min. I haven't seen the neighbor dogs for about a week. Very quite around here. Found out yesterday, the huge gray one called Boo was sick. Her intestines twisted inside her and she passed away Monday. She was the one that protected me most when I was in the woods and a stranger with a truck came by. Still have Russel who all he does is barks and Rosie my old favorite. RIP Boo.

Have a good day everyone,

Janie

Yesterday was busy and I just didn't get to post. Yesterday was HIIT 40/20--a major huff-n-puff workout. Today was supposed to be Kick, Punch, and Crunch, but I had to be up and out early for meetings, so no KPC. Ripken and I did get in our 2 mile walk though. Beautiful weather and Ripken helped me talked through some work items. He is such a good listener.

Janie: so sorry to hear that Boo passed away. Twisted stomachs/intestines are an issue for large dogs and if you don't recognize what has happened immediately and get them to a vet, they usually don't make it. So sad. Poor pup. I bet she was in terrible pain. Don't even want to think about it.

Laura: I have the same issue with AS. It really takes all my cardio endurance to get through it. I've gotten a little better with it over the past few months as I've upped the intensity of my cardio--but it's right up there with Intensity and the IMAX workouts as far as I'm concerned.

Hope everyone is doing well and getting their workouts in.

Happy Friday everyone! So, I decided to skip KPC and go ahead and do Body Max 2 today. I couldn't remember the last time I did BM2, so I started looking at my calendar in the workout manager. I got back to Dec 2010 and didn't see it listed on any day and then decided--it's definitely been a while since I've done BM2--at least 8 months--probably longer. So, I popped that puppy in the dvd player and I commenced to sweating, and sweating, and sweating. Good long workout. Lots of good licks for Ripken.

We are having some real nice weather right now. Will be heading over to the boat later this afternoon. Hope everyone is having a great day.
Michelle

Walked Rolly about 40 min. in the woods. Met an ex wife of my neighbor (the man that I quarrel with). Pat is 58 years old. Literally looks like she is my Joey's age. 73. She says she is trying to stop smoking. So invited her to walk with Rolly and me and she said yes. Of course she was huffing and buffing, but did better than I thought she would. As we walked, found out she has had a very hard life, and Bert (the quarreling one) took her in under his wing. I suppose after his love died, he go very lonely, and it seems (as far as I can tell) that they have a second chance together. Joey and I also was talking and think she must have also been a heavy drinker to look the way she does. I think she is honestly drying to be a better person. We'll see. In the meantime, she may walk with Rolly and I occasionally.

Michelle, Thank you for your sentiments on Boo. Poor doggie, makes my heart sad that she may have had a lot of pain. (tears) How can they (animals) make you fall in love with them so easily? Great job on 40/20 and the 2 mile walk with Ripken. I find too, that Rolly listens to me as well. LOL:D. My Joey thinks I talk to myself, (which I do) but doesn't realize sometimes I'm talking to Rolly. However, I don't answer myself.

Great job on BM2. I do believe you when you say Ripen had a licking good time.:D When I own so many DVD's , I too can't seem to get to a lot of them for awhile. Keeps things interesting and new. My toe will be officially healed on Monday, but I'm going to start off tomorrow with RS. Can't wait! Then I'm working on a rotation still, should be done very soon. Will post it tonight. Have a good time on the boat.

Janie

Starting Sunday: Knowing this rotation will have to be modified for this partial month and early next month, but I'm ready to do that. Not nearly as strong as I want to be, but, will push through even with all the modifications that will be needed. The only thing I can think of is go for it and push my way to the end. The great thing about this is that at the end of this rotation, I'll be up to par (hopefully). Then a week of active recovery, which will be fun. It will contain a lot of dancing which helps in life and yoga which calms and helps with balance. Here's the rotation if anyone is interested:

Walking Rolly everyday come rain or shine.

Week One:
Rhythmic Step
High Step Challenge
Wedding video
Muscle Max
Step Jam
Super Sets
Step Heat

Week Two:
High Step Training
Athletic Step
Muscle Endurance
Step Max
Push Pull
Step Moves

Week Three:
30/30
Power Max
40/20
Step Fit
Double Wave Pyramid
Step Works

Week Four:
STS Total Body
Step Blast
Low Impact Circuit
IMax 1
High Reps
Rhythmic Step

Have a good evening everyone. I'm going to view RS.

Startijng week 2 of Cathe's August rotation. It's 4 Day Split week plus RS at then end. Should be fun--goodness knows that High Intensity Step was just the ticket this morning. Ripken stuck with me for a while, but wandered into the bathroom to nap on the cool tile floor. He came out during the cool down after the cardio to get a few licks in and then went back to nap. I was on my own for the stretch after the weight work. Guess the weekend of napping on the boat wore the dog out. LOL!

Janie: Looks like you have put together a good rotation. It ought to get you back in the groove. I'm tempted to join you but I'm into the second week of Cathe's August rotation and once I start a rotation, I get fixated on going through the whole thing. It's good if you can get your neighbor to walk with you. It sounds like she needs the exercise and maybe needs a friend too--or least someone to talk to from time to time.

Hope everyone has a good week. Hoping we see some of the old gang checking back in soon.

I did MM and walked Rolly for 40 min.

Went to the board meeting the other day, (took me awhile to get my composer back) in order to talk about it. I apologized to my neighbor (the one that him and I don't see I to I about dogs) and told him that I was sorry about telling the broad members and the people there about my problems and told him I may have been able to handle it a different way. I was very emotional at the time. He said "I don't want to be the center of you attaching me anymore" or something to that effect. I said I agree, but I needed to tell everyone what was happening.

There still is much fear (about dogs) in delivery people delivering our packages and I wanted to help them out by reporting different news to the board members. One was a Fedex guy and was frightened by Bert's dogs especially Boo (she is so big and the male, who is even bigger). After that our mail lady also complained about the dogs, not only Bert's but dogs all up and down the street. She to is frightened and concerned about being able to do her job. I brought this up with the president of the board and he told me to get it writing from them (delivery persons) and present it to the board this last Sat. I did and Bert left (in the middle of my talk) on purpose to make his point that he is still angry. He later was asked to come in for other subjects. What a turd. I'm thinking I really don't need this in my life and weighing on not being reelected. I needed to vent and need this person out of my life. I think I just talked myself out of being involved in our community.

Michelle, Great job on High Intensity Step this morning. Ripken is changing. Hope Ripken gets his needed rest from the boat weekend. Bet he had good memories though. It's nice that you were tempted to join me. I wouldn't want to stop in the middle of a rotation either. I think if anyone decides in the middle of the month to do a rotation, then, they won't have to wait for the beginning of the month and instead jump right in this rotation. I suppose you can do this with any rotation, but heck shared it anyway.

Oh I have been so bad about checking in. Our Internet is still down so it makes it much more difficult to check in, plus I have been really busy so when I do get a chance to get on line I tend to just have time to get through my emails.

Sunday I went for a great hike to Heart Lake, which is 9 miles round trip. I posted pics on FB if you want to check it out. The wild flowers were the best I have ever seen! It has motivated me to hike as much as I can before the snow flies, but the long hikes are hard to do often because it does really take a whole day.

Monday was Pilates and Boot Camp. I felt stiff and tiered from the hike.

Just finished teaching my Tuesday morning Beginner Pilates Class, which I tend to teach more than do, so I can make sure people are doing the moves right. I will do some type of cardio later, not sure what yet though.

Now I am going to go catch up on you guys!!

Taking a little break from work to clear my head before I move on to the next thing. We have gotten a bit of rain here over the past few days, but today is very nice--warm and clear, no humidity. Ripken and I took a long walk this morning. He loves his walks but they seem to poop him out a bit more--guess my pup is just feeling his age a bit. DH cautions me about walking him too much--but the exercise is good for him and when the weather is just right and not too hot and humid, Ripken really does want to walk. Trust me, we are not tearing up the sidewalks--our speed is slow and steady, with breaks for sniffs and such.

After the morning walkabout, I did 4DS Lower Intensity Step. I thought the workout was just over 60 minutes, but it was closer to 70, which was okay too. The first set of shoulder exercises (pyramid up) was a doozie. After that, the remaining 4 shoulder sets seemed not as hard. For some reason, the core work really got me today. I was like, okay, when do we get to the last thing. Cathe just kept going and going. When she finally said, planks--I was like okay, this is the last exercise then a stretch, WHEW!

Janie: I didn't realize that the dog issues were more pervasive in your neighborhood. Sometimes it's the little things that are closest to home that can drive you a little crazy. I think that in the end, you came to a good place in making peace with your neighbor dogs. I'm not sure your neighbor has done as well as you in adjusting to the situation. I can understand why you feel discouraged, but I think you should be happy with and proud of your own personal growth on the matter.

Laura: I forgot that you've been having internet issues. What a drag. Life does seem to have become a bit more hectic these days. It's good to hear from you and that you have kept up with your exercise. Gosh--it will be back to school time soon for the girls. Time is flying by.

Did the Wedding Video and walked Rolly 40 min.

I made the choice not to have anything to do with any meetings concerning our Home Association. I feel good about the decision, should be no more stress. It actually made my Joey very upset every time this thing about dogs come up. I better stay far away from him for awhile. I don't blame him at all, I'm upset too. But on the bright side, if at all possible, I won't have anything to do with dog situations. My only reason to get involved in the first place was because of Joey's constant complaint. I figured why complain, instead do something. But, as you can see, nothing can be done. Once the dust settles everything will turn back to normal. Whatever that is. LOL:) Gee-sh.

Laura, When you can, it's always nice to hear from you. Wow, a 9 mile hike. Sounds so beautiful. Amazing and pictures! Great job for Monday's Pilates and BC and today's Pilates Class.

Michelle, Great job on the long walk this morning and 4DS LIS. That is a long workout. You did good. I agree, Ripken loves his walks, and since he enjoys them so much, there is no reason not to. Enjoy those days, you know. Thank you so much for making me feel good about myself. I did grow I think to be a better person over this dog thing. But, over here (the home front) right now it's not appreciated. Damned if I do and damned if I don't.:( We'll get over it, we always do.

Good morning. Another great weather morning and Ripken and I took advantage of it with another long walk. It's August and goodness knows, the heat and humidity will be back, but these less humid, cooler mornings put a bounce back in my pup's step. Not sure about the bounce in my step. Work has been hectic and it's only Wednesday and I'm feeling totally worn out. I'll have to be sure to stay hydrated today.

After our walkabout, I did 4DS Kickbox. Love the cardio part, grinned and beared the leg work (ugh!)--and was happy to move on to the core work. Another great Cathe workout in the finished column!

Janie: I completely understand how you feel about being damned if you do and damned if you don't. My DH takes the same approach with me sometimes. Do you think this is a guy thing? I don't know. But it sure can make you feel like you're nuts. I still think you should focus on the positive and let it go. Easier said than done, I am sure. You're sticking with your rotation--so I guess things are getting back to normal. ;)

Yesterday evening at dusk, we had two deer hanging out in our front yard. There's not much to eat in my garden so they moved over to the neignbor's house and munched over there for a while before disappearing around the back of our house. Something a bit novel in our neighborhood since I live in suburbia--but the deer are everywhere. I think they've gotten used to coexisting with development.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Did a lot of walking on the beach with Joey and Rolly. You should have seen Rolly. When I took his leash off, it took a few minutes to figure out that he was free. When he found out that the leash wasn't holding him back, I swear he smiled from end to end. He jumped, speed raced in circles, played the game catch me if you can...it was so much fun to see him have fun. LOL:D He's never been able to be released like that before, because of all the people and dogs on the beach. But, there was hardly anyone there today. When we got home I did Step Jam.

Michelle, great job with a wonderful long walk with Ripken. Sorry to hear that work for you is hectic today. Yep, drink lots of water and get plenty of rest. Great job with 4DS Kickbox. You know, I think it is a man thing. I don't see women doing that at all. Joey did say he was sorry, that he was so frustrated by the whole thing and there is never a solvable solution. That part is sad, trying so hard to fix a problem and no matter what you do, nothing becomes of it. But, we have his beautiful piece of heaven, that I now can walk around in, hot tub...I can go on forever how lucky we are. Just can't share it with anyone but ourselves. That's OK. I love the site of deer. They are so beautiful.

Have a terrific evening,

Janie

Didn't get a chance to check in yesterday--but did have a nice walk with Ripken and did RS. Today, it's Saturday and time to take it easy. Did stretch max and giving my body a little rest before hitting this next week of Cathe's August rotation which looks like another challenging week.

We didn't go to the boat this weekend. I had to go into work yesterday, instead of telecommute, and got home late and DH just didn't feel like a one night trip for the weekend. So, I'm catching up around the house and relaxing. Our local hospital where DH gets his lab work done installed a new billing system that they then couldn't get to produce bills for 6 months. All of a sudden, we got a bunch of copay bills but they were not itemized by date and service. DH called the hospital and requested itemized bills which we now have, so I spent part of today sorting through insurance claims on-line, the itemized bills, and figuring out what we owe. Now, I get to write the check--ick.

Otherwise a nice quiet day. Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday. Pup just wandered up to my office, maybe we'll take a little walk.
Michelle

Walked Rolly for 40 min. in the woods. It was really nice.

Michelle, excellent job on walking Ripken an RS. To me a toughie but a goody. I'm glad you did Stretch Max, workouts that you've done deserve it. Good luck with August Rotation, it does look challenging. Even though you missed the boat, at least you got caught up on everything else.

Take care,

Janie

Today was plyo legs, STS disc 26. Boy, what a tough workout. I upped my weight amounts on a few of the exercises and I'm sure that contributed to my huffing and puffing. I was definitely in Darth Vader breathing mode by the end of the workout. This is going to be an interesting workout week because I have one workout that I've never done (cardio kicks tomorrow) and then another that I don't do very often because it kicks my butt big time: maximum intensity cardio (later in the week). We'll see how this week goes. I was feeling very rested--physically and mentally--today, so the workout while tough seemed a bit more fun. By the end of the week when I am more mentally drained (just because it's the end of the work week), I am sure it will be a different story.

Talked to my mom this morning. She said that Renee saw the ortho surgeon again this past week and he was happy with her progress. She is done with physical therapy but now he wants her to start a pilates class. Sister is not a great big fan of yoga/pilates/stretching--so that gave me a little bit of a giggle. But it will be good for her. First day of school for her tomorrow with the kids. I am sure her knee will be feeling tired before the day is over. Takes time to build back the endurance.

Hope everyone is having a peaceful and restful Sunday.

Hi all! I'm waiting for a taxi, due on five minutes, and thought I'd use them here :)

This week, I'm finally getting a better handle on workouts. I was able to do four short ones: a cardio coach, a Kelly C-M kickbox, and 20 minutes of kettlebells twice. That's not all that impressive and I was pretty tired after, but it is a good start! The main thing is to be moving forward again. I'm bringing my ipod so hopefully there will be cardio coach time during this trip (to California).

It's a thunderstorm-y day out, and looks like my Dulles flight is delayed, so wish me luck on that.

I've also been adopted by a local cat in this complex, who is called Pumpkin by the other residents here. She spotted me right off the bat as a human being who needed a kitty to own her, and now she has me feeding her Fancy Feast in the evenings. She appears to have three or four of us under her wing. Pumpkin is a marmelade-orange and white kitty, looks to be about two years old, and seems pretty healthy despite her outdoors/unattended lifestyle. It's nice to have her around. Still, worrying ... part of me wants to scoop her up and send her back home to DH, but she's too skittish to pick up, and I'm afraid it will scare her too much. So, for now, I'm just obediently feeding her, and petting her on the stairs in the morning and at night. She watches for my car and escorts me upstairs at night.

The taxi is about here ... so that is all for now ... miss you all! I do hope to get the check-ins going again. It just takes awhile to re-establish all of my good habits in such a new environment.

Best wishes to everyone!

Today was Step Heat. Love that one! Sweaty headband indeed.

Michelle, Great job on plyo legs disc 26. You are improving by leaps and bounds. You better be very proud of yourself. Cant' wait to hear from her one day, that youga/pilates/stretching did wonders for her. She will build endurance, no doubt in my mind. Tell her hi for me, and know that I'm cheering her on.

Deborah, Great job on on those 4 short workouts. That's impressive to me. Glad you are back on the road of health and fitness. Very proud of you. You have animal magnetism. Animals know who to trust and who not to trust. You are a good person. The kitty that adopted you knows. It's kind that you are making friends with her. She must be a doll baby.

Take care,

Janie
