Lurkers Invitation For The Holidays

Joey and I did TBS, abs work and stretches. I plan on taking Rolly out today, but the weather looks grim. If I can't, will be on the treadmill for 30 min. or about 2 miles.

Julie, Love it when a husband supports his wife by spotting. How cool is that? You did great on Thanksgiving day exercising. I made a point not to. Also I overate and back into the exercises. It feels soooooo gooooood.

Pam, I'm looking forward to the new DVD's and the premixes. WooHoo!

Great job on Intensity and High Reps. A Butt-Kicker you say? LOL Looking forward to it. Good for you maintaining your weight over Thanksgiving. I didn't fair well at all. Gained, Gained, Gained! UG!

I love Mindy! I have to agree, her workouts are enjoyable. She kinda reminds me of a chihuahua, very hyper. Love her a lot. Let us know how LBB is. I bet it will be awesome.

Have a good day everyone,

Janie

I did Step, Jump, Pump today. This was only my 2nd time doing it. The first time, I didn’t really like it that much but this time I liked it better. Also, did my pushups. Gotta keep up on those for fear of losing it!

Pam Great job on your workout! I haven’t done any other instructors since probably May. Not sure if I miss it or if I am just stuck in a rut. Might be because Cathe has so much variety and it is just too easy to pick out a rotation and follow it. Let us know how Lower Body Blast is. I just got my copy of it in the mail yesterday but probably won’t be doing it for awhile. Hopefully Cathe tells us how much weight she uses in LBB. I like having that too as a guide.

Janie Great job on TBS, ab work, and stretches! Hope you got your walk in either way. Our weather finally turned for the worse. We had been really lucky with Fall temps and no snow. Last night we got our first snow flurries and they are already sticking to the ground. Yuck! I guess Winter is here now!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Before I went to bed last night I did 35 min. of stair climbing. Today I plan on doing a cardio. Have to digest breakfast first of steal cut oats banana and 2 egg whites cooked in coconut oil. Yummy:p. (Only the eggs were cooked in coconut oil LOL):D

Julie, Great job on SJ&P. OOOOO, I like that one! Oh yes, maintain the great job on those push ups, makes me want to do them now. See what you started? LOL:D So sorry about the snow. What ever you do be warm and safe out there.

Have a good one everyone, see you later in hopes to catch you later on.

Janie

Janie Great job on TBS, abs, stretches AND stairmaster. Wow! You had an awesome workout day! Great job! It sounds like you are also doing some nice healthy eating. I am having a bad eating day so far today. I had a meatloaf sandwich and 2 iced shortbread cookies for lunch  My normal lunch is a salad and a couple of pieces of dark chocolate.
Oh yes, Intensity is a major butt-kicker. You're gonna love it! :p
Sorry to hear that you gained over Thanksgiving, but it sounds like you are right back into the swing of things now so keep up the good work!
I laughed out loud at your comparison of Mindy to a chihuahua! So funny but your're right! She has so much energy and sometimes says the silliest things! I love her workouts though. Not sure if I already mentioned to you guys that I just ordered 2 of her new workouts. She has a sale going on so they are $15 each. I got one called guns, guts and glutes that someone was praising on the open discussion forum and then another cardio one that has 3 different workouts with 2 hours of cardio total. I can't wait to try them!

Julie Glad to hear that you liked SJP better the second time. I really love that one. Great job on the pushups too. You inspired me so I did some this morning. I was happy to pull off the first 16 on my toes. I'll take it!
I agree that is it easy to pick out a rotation and just stick with it, but I do like doing some of my other favorites in between. You definitely can get all the variety you need just sticking with Cathe though.
Cathe didn't tell us how much weight she is using in LBB :(. It wasn't such a big issue though because for the most part the weights are on the lighter side and she just uses one weight on the barbell the whole time. It looks pretty light (I was guessing 25 pounds), but hard to say. I guess I will have to ask in the Ask Cathe forum.
Sorry about your snow - ick. It was 70 here yesterday and this morning but is supposed to be getting steadily colder throughout the day and we are supposed to have a low of 29 tonight!

I was really afraid of Lower Body Blast this morning because there was a lot of discussion about it on Facebook, but it really wasn't so bad. I think the plyo leg workouts in STS are harder. She does a LOT of one legged lunges though and those were killers. She also does some outer thigh work on the floor with a band at the end that has you screaming, but it is doable. I think I'll be feeling it in my outer thighs tomorrow. I really liked this one though. I'd say my order of preference for the new workouts is: Intensity, LBB, STS Total body and then High Reps. In true Cathe style though they are all great workouts. I'm also seeing a lot of people saying high reps is their favorite, so I think it depends on whether you are more of a cardio or a weights person and I am definitely a cardio junkie.

Cheryl and Helen I hope you are both doing well! We miss you!
Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Pam

OMG! Cathe's DVD's arrived! I decided to do the premix Step Only for 36.30 min. OMG! Towards the better part of the end, I was modifying and just tried to keep moving. It is such a challenge for me! Love It! Something to work into. I burned calories on that one. Tonight I will also do some more stair climbing and tomorrow, don't know yet. Have to review them before I decide. The high reps looks really good to Joey, so maybe that one.

Pam, Don't worry about the lunch, we will eventually get back to where we need to be. Especially after the holidays. I will continue, bad or good on my behavior to keep up the good work.

Mindy's new workouts does sound awesome, I'll have to check into that. She is such a fun character.

Great job on LBB, as you know those I need to do the most because they are so darn hard on me.

Have a great rest of the day everyone,

Janie

I got my Total Body dvd on Monday and previewed it on Monday evening. Since it's total body, I'm not sure where to fit it in, or what to substitute it for. It looks like it will be another favorite.

What do you all think about doing it once a week in place of a different STS resistance workout each week?

My progress toward my Christmas weight loss goal has stalled. I haven't been sleeping well for the last several nights and just feel so completely exhausted. My hair even feels tired!! :p:p I'm not giving up, though.

I don't think I'll be working tomorrow, so maybe I can sleep in until 6:00 and get my workout in at around 8:00 after I get my daughter off to school.

I admire all of you who do the step workouts. I just cannot get my feet and brain to communicate properly and end up tripping all over the place. As Janie says, though, something to work toward.:D

Hello to everyone. It's only 7:30 p.m. here and I already feel like I could go to bed and sleep all night! Tempting...

Helen

This morning was Imax 2. I always have so much fun with this one and it seems to go by so fast!

Janie Good job on 35 min of stair climbing! Sounds tough to me! :p Steel cut oats sound so good. I think I may have to make some Saturday when we are supposed to get snow. Great job on doing the Step Only premix. From what I hear, Intensity is a doozy and certainly one that will require working up to.

Pam Great job on LBB! I really can’t wait to try it. I got my copy but haven’t previewed it yet. I was thinking of you today when I did the Jeannie hops in Imax 2. ;) I have to say I don’t have as much trouble with the actual hops as moving into the box jumps afterward. And of course plie jacks are always killers in my opinion! Great job on doing 16 pushups on your toes. When I first started, I think I got 12 in before going to my knees. Hope you stayed warm last night! It is still below freezing here. Spring can’t come soon enough!

Helen Glad to hear from you but sorry about the sleeping. I used to have a lot of trouble sleeping but then I started taking a Melatonin and Valerian supplement. Seems to help some. BTW I do not see any problem with going to bed at 7:30! :D That is my normal bedtime! Hope you slept better last night! And try not to worry about your weight loss stalling. Just remember it is normal for everyone to plateau and you will get back to losing in no time!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Janie CONGRATUATIONS on getting your new DVDs!!! The step part of Intensity is the hardest part for sure and is definitely a calorie burner! Despite my big lunch yesterday I was down a little on the scale this morning so that made me feel better! I need to stay away from those cookies today though!
I am not going to be able to do another Mindy workout without thinking about her as a chihuahua now! :p I am still laughing about that one!

Helen That is a great question about subbing in the total body DVD with your STS rotation. I definitely think you could do that, but then of course the question would be which day to sub for. Maybe you could rotate which workouts that you sub it for?
Sorry to hear your progress has stalled :( I'd say just keep your focus though and you will be right badk to making progress. It is so hard though when you aren't getting the sleep that you need. I was really tired all of last week and just yesterday felt normal again. I hope you were able to sleep in this morning and that that will help. Sometimes it's a good thing to go to bed at 7:30!

Julie Love love love Imax 2 (well, except those genie hops! :D) I'm not sure what it is about them, maybe just the fact that she does so many of them. I agree, the plie jacks are always tough, but I don't mind doing them as much as the hops (even though they are harder  ) strange...
My cat likes to go and hang out on the screened in porch every morning after my workout. I knew it was really cold this morning when he wanted in after about 2 minutes! Usually I have to go chase him in when it's time to leave for work! BRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr!

This morning I did circuit max. I haven't done it in so long and it was my very favorite for quite awhile. I enjoyed it. Then I did my push ups, only 15 on the toes today. Probably because I had already done some upper body work. I'm trying to decide whether to start Cathe's November or December rotation next week. The December rotation has all of the new workouts every week, but I thought it was strange that she didn't include any of the pre-mixes. If I decide to do that one I may mix it up with some of the premixes. I hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Pam

Did HR with Joey today. As usual he complained all the way through it. Well, when I turn 72 I'm sure I would complain too. We decided to do only two rounds of working all the body parts, then abs at the end. Very proud of my Joey, just wish he keep his comments to himself. Will be walking Rolly in the fog later today. Haven't done that with Rolly yet, something new.

Helen, I think using STS TB as you suggested is a great idea. If your hair is tired, then something is coming. Hopefully not the flu. Try to take it easy. My Joey is the same way about stepping. He just can't do it. I do it without him. Once you get going on it and do it for awhile, it will come to you. Oh, Joey goes to bed every night at 7:30 or 8:00 pm. You are not alone.

Julie, Great job on IMAX 2. It is a fun workout.:D The Intensity Step was so hard! Once my body gets use to, it will be fine. It will take awhile though. LOL;)

Pam, Congratulations on losing some weight. Your exercises program is working. Yeah! I made some cookies last night, I don't know what got into me and ate some of them this morning instead of my Steel Cut Oats. i better do Intensity for sure Saturday. You do know I love chihuahuas right, just like I love Mindy. But yes, she is full on energy.LOL:D Great job on CM and push ups. What ever rotation you do, Have fun with them!

Thought I'd post a couple of pics your way to maybe enhance a smile. I know Christmas coming can be a stressful time.

Jamie How did you and Joey like HR? (Besides the complaining of course :p) Did you and Rolly enjoy your walk in the fog? He is looking very stylish in his sweater!
Oh cookies for breakfast - that is one of my favorite things to do! I am in the danger zone today because I'm working at home and those frosted shortbreads keep calling my name. They are sooo good but soooo bad!

Julie I'm guessing our posts might cross this morning as I am earlier than usual. Hope you are doing well.

Cheryl We haven't heard from you in awhile, I hope everything is ok and you aren't working too hard.

This morning I did Tracey Staehle High Intensity Step mix. I just love this workout, it is my favorite of hers. I will probably do some abs later, although my abs are still sore from CM on Wednesday night  I hope everyone has a great Friday! TGIF!

Pam

Well...I did STS Total Body yesterday morning (finished at about 9:30 a.m.) I skipped the ab portion at the end...I was spent! By 3:00 yesterday afternoon, my entire body was feeling that workout. Today, even though I didn't do the ab portion, my abs are sore. I plan on doing those ab exercises in just a few minutes. It's a really good, fast paced workout. My heart rate got up to 178 at one point and stayed pretty much in the high 150's for most of the workout.

Pam: I think I'll sub Total Body on Monday next week, Wednesday the following week, and Friday the week after that. That way, I'll be sure to let muscles rest that need rest and work the ones that need work. Push ups...When I started working out about 4 years ago, I could barely do 5 push ups from my knees. I steadily worked my way up and was able to do 35 full body push ups withing a year. Shoulder injuries have hampered me some, and I've had to modify for the last year or so. I think of your determination whenever push ups are on my agenda. Thanks!:)

Janie: Thank goodness I'm not coming down with the flu or a cold, or anything else. I think I was just really, really tired from my early a.m. workouts and then spending all day (for the last week or so) in the classroom with special ed kids. The kids aren't bad, but they require a LOT more patience and a LOT more repetition. I did not have to work yesterday and I'm off today, too, so I've caught up on my rest and am feeling better. You little pooch has more sweaters than I do! :)

Julie: My weight loss stalling isn't concerning me yet. I still have 3 weeks until Christmas and 9 lbs. to lose to reach my goal of 15 lbs. I'm still feeling confident.:) All of the positive talk I've found here is only boosting my confidence! I prefer weights to cardio, but I love it when I get a combination of both like I did yesterday! :)

Have a good day, everyone.
Helen

Did the Wedding Video today. Nice and sweaty I was. LOL Walked Rolly on a trail for 30 min. He was in 7th heaven.

Pam, I loved HR, and today have DOM's. It's just Joey, he's getting set in his ways, and he's old. Rolly loved the fog, never new what was coming around the next corner. He's so cute.

I don't know why, but everything bad is calling my name as well. So very tempting, but I'll stay true today.

Great job on Tracie's workout. I'll have to see if I have that one, just to see what you did. Can't remember off hand.

Helen, Great job on STS TB, I can't wait to do that one.:)

So glad you didn't get the flu, and just needed some rest. Whew!

Have a really good rest day today.

See you all later,

Janie

Helen I really like that STS total body workout too. Funny that your abs were sore even though you didn't do the ab section, but obviously you were working them anyway! I think your plan to sub it in on alternating days is perfect.
Wow, 35 full push ups! I'm not sure I'll ever get there, but I did do 18 this morning, by most ever so I was happy about that! We've all been encouraging each other with these pesky pushups. Any time I'm thinking I'll skip them I think about coming here and checking in and that Julie will have done hers and that gives me the motivation! :)
I can only imagine how exhausting it must be working with special needs kids. I'm sure you have to have a ton of patience but it must be very rewarding. You should really be proud of yourself!
I'm glad to hear you were able to get rested up and are feeling better.

JanieGreat job on the wedding video and getting in a good sweat! Very cute that Rolly loved the fog!
I didn't resist those cookies yesterday but stuck with only 1 1/2 instead of 2  Sadly that felt like an accomplishment! Maybe I'll be stronger today!

Cheryl I'm getting worried about you since we haven't heard from you in awhile. I hope everything is ok.
Julie Hope you are doing well also!

This morning I did Lower Body Blast with the bonus standing leg work at the end. Ouch, my legs are sore and felt like noodles when I was walking downstairs afterwards. Yesterday afternoon I also was feeling guilty about those cookies so I did the Boot camp bonus section from intensity followed by Core Max balanced core premix. The boot camp bonus is a nice little add on. It's 12 minutes and goes by so fast. Now it's time to start dragging out the Christmas decorations. Ugh, I hate doing it but love it when it's done! Have a great Saturday everyone!

Pam

Yesterday was a busy day so I didn’t get a chance to check-in. I did get Leaner Legs done and then shampooed my carpet, gave both dogs a bath, and then went shopping. Today I did the Cardio Power Premix from 4 Day Split. I love that one! I also did my pushups. I’m up to 25 on my toes. Of course, that last one is always more like a ½ pushup but still!

Pam Great job on Circuit Max! I have the same issue with my pushups. Some days I do more and then the next day less. I think this check-in is what is pushing me to keep up on my pushups too. I feel like if I don’t get them in, I will be letting all of you down for some reason. Weird I know; but whatever keeps me going, I guess!

Janie Good job on HR! Can’t wait to try that one (someday)! Rolly is sooo cute!!! Great job with the walk. We finally got our snow! I think we got 6-7” last night and it is still coming down today. Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

Helen Good job on STS TB! I was thinking of you today when my DOMS from Leaner Legs (LL) kicked in today. I was remembering your comment about measuring your workout by how hard it is to sit on the toilet. LL was a killer apparently! That is amazing that you substitute special ed kids. I always admire people who do that.

Cheryl Please check in soon! Like Pam, I am starting to get worried too!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Hi everyone I am back. Thanks for thinking about me. I am fine I think I was just really tired last week. I felt like what Helen said in one of her posts even my hair was tired. So I went to bed really early and didn't get a chance on the computer until today. On the bright side I got my DVD's yesterday WOO HOO..... I did High Reps this mornings. Wow that one does move really fast. I liked it but it was the first one that I have done so far. I think I am going to need yoga tomorrow ouch.... It looks like everyone is doing great with their workouts.

Besides working all week and getting depressed and tired because it is dark by 4:30 we took two of our cats into the vet today for their checkups. Tango cried the whole way in and Tigger just made the occasional cry. Tango is doing great but Tigger needed to get his blood sugar checked for Diabeties. He is a big cat but I am hoping that everything is fine.

I will get back to the regular check ins too. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Cheryl

Wow I can't believe the weekend is over already. Went to yoga this morning. It was harder because it is now starting at 8:30 instead of 9:30. They changed the time because the mall is now opening an hour earlier so they had to change the time for yoga. The vet also called us this morning regarding Tigger. He doesn't have diabeties but his white blood cell count is high and he is low on potassium. So we had to go back to the vet today to get some potassium powder to put into his food. We also have to get a urine sample from him so they can check it regarding is liver. That will be fun to do . So when we were leaving the vet DH asked if we could go downtown because there was a video store he wanted to go to. No problem I said forgetting that the Santa Claus parade was today :(. So we get downtown and the police have some of the streets closed off and traffic was not nice. Anyway I did find a place to park and DH could go to his store. I decided to wander around and it was just crazy with all of the people. I could hardly wait to get home. Anyway enough of my babbling, I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Have a great Monday.

Cheryl

Saturday I did Intensity premix Step only again. Still had to modify during it but, managed to go a little longer. Took a rest day today. Walked Rolly 30 min. He was very happy.

Pam, You are doing fine! It's the holidays and only comes around once a year. Enjoy every now and then, a little bit.

Great job on LBB, the bonus standing leg work and the boot camp bonus section and Core Max balanced core premix. Wow. No more cookies for you, my gosh, there won't be anything left of ya.;)

Would love to see pictures when the decorating is done.

Julie, Great job on LL and CPP. Well done. 25 push up on your toes is amazing! You are awesome.:D Enjoy your snow and play in it.

I will get back to the regular check ins too. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Cheryl, Great job on HR and yoga. I'm glad Tiger isn't diabetic. One of our cats, Winkle, is diabetic and needs two shots a day. He will never get use to it, but he's doing fine and living a good life other than the shots. What happens with low potassium?

Maybe you can try a light that helps with loner evenings. Have you tried one?

Shopping during this time is so hectic. Hope you get done with it soon.

Have a great day everyone,

Janie

This morning I wanted to sleep in so bad but decided to get up and do Low Impact Circuit. I am happy I got up and did it because now it is done and I can relax when I get home but, man, am I tired. I also did pushups but only got 19 on my toes. That is way less than last time but I think it was because I was so tired and there were 3 sets of pushups in the circuit.

Cheryl Good to hear from you! I completely understand about being tired and not wanting to get on the computer. I feel lucky to be able to post on here during work time because when I get home, the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Great job on HR and yoga! I hope everything is ok with Tigger. We are going through an issue with Oscar right now too and not knowing what is going on but having to get all these tests done is making me a nervous wreck. Hopefully we will find out something soon on both our babies (yours and mine).

Janie Great job on Intensity step and your walk! You are such a good mommy to take Rolly for walks in the cold. I am horrible about taking Oscar and Maggie out when it is below 40! I know it isn’t fair to them but I just can’t talk myself into it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!

Cheryl Glad to see you back. I'm glad to hear tha tyou are fine, but not that you were so tired last week. I hope you were able to get caught up over the weekend! Congratulations on getting the new workouts, I tihink you are going to really like them!
I hate it getting dark so early too! It always seems so much later than it is because of it and it's so depressing during the week to leave home in the dark and come home after work in the dark too!
I hate taking the cats to the vet. Sorry to hear about Tigger, although it sounds like it will be a little easier dealing with low potassium than diabetes. The liver issue sounds scary though, I hope that comes out ok. Janie, don't you have a diabetic kitty?
Your Sunday sounds like a frustrating day. Good thing you were able to start off with your yoga to help you relax through it! I went out shopping on Saturday and it was a mad house out there. Ick. I think I'll try to do as much online shopping as possible!

Julie Sounds like you had quite the busy day on Friday, but very productive! I love it when I feel like I've accomplished something at the end of a busy day! All I can say about your push ups is WOW! I'm so impressed! I got 16 1/2 this morning. I haven't made it past 17 yet but you are giving me hope!

Janie Great job onthe Intensity step pre-mix. It is so much fun but SOOO hard!
It's a good thing the holidays only come around once a year, otherwise I think I'd be a round ball  I'm actually usually pretty good about resisting sweets, but these cookies are a real weakness for me. I just need to learn not to have them in the house. The good news is that there is only 1 left
We did get the decorating almost done so I will have to get some pictures. The tree still needs to be finished. DH had to go out of town and the kids weren't with us this weekend, so he put the tree up and then had to leave. I put the lights and some of the decorations on it, but it isn't much fun decorating the tree alone :(. Then last night I was sitting in the kitchen looking at it and wondering how it got to be so far away from the window. That was when I noticed it had a big lean going on  YIKES! It looks like the leaning tower of pisa. I called DH and he told me to try to straighten it but as soon as I let go and went right back to the big lean. I was too embarrassed to call the neighbors to come help so I just went to bed with my fingers crossed. It looked about the same this morning so hopefully it will make it through the day and DH gets home tonight. You need 2 people to straighten/tighten it. Ay yi yi

Julie I felt the same way this morning, I just didn't want to get out of bed. I hit the snooze alarm a couple of times but then finally got up and got to my workouts. I'm like you, always so happy that I made myself get up and do it. I always have a hard time with pushups on days when I do weights too, and 19 on your toes is nothing to sneeze at so you should be proud of yourself!

This morning was 40/20 and weights and plates abs. My pushups were hard after all of that plank/plate work in W&P but I did get 16 1/2 on my toes so I was happy with that. We got some very sad news over the weekend. One of my girlfriends was just diagnosed with metastatic cancer in her hip, lung and sternum. It is so bad in her hip that she can't put any weight on it because her Dr is afraid it will break. This a week after news that another friend has cancer in his lung and kidney. His is somewhat better news as it is only stage 1 and they believe that they can take care of it with surgery alone and no chemo or radiation. So just a reminder my friends to be thankful for your good health and live each day to it's fullest since we never know what tomorrow may bring. On that downer note, I hope everyone has a good Monday.

Pam

Well last night I woke up around midnight just starving . I thought I had enough at dinner but I guess I didn't. I didn't get up to eat anything either, I was hoping that my growlies would go away but it took hours to fall back asleep. I thought I would do Intensity this evening, I tried but I didn't have the energy for it. Man I wanted to try that one too.

Janie Good job in doing the premixes for Intensity. That workout is named correctly. I am glad that Tigger isn't diabetic too. I am not sure what happens with low potassium actually. All I know is Tigger loves the powder mixed with his food. He gobbles it up but we have to make sure that the other two don't eat it. I have one of those day lights but I really only use it on the weekends. During the work week it seems I only have 5 minutes to sit down to eat breakfast. If I get up earlier I could do it. You should sit in front of it for at least 15 minutes.

Julie Good for you in getting up to do your workout even if you were tired. I used to be able to push myself to do that but it seems that I can't anymore. If I try to do that I just feel even more tired. I wish I could post when I was at work but we are so busy right now there is no time. I hope Oscar is going to be OK too. I hate it when they have to take tests because you never know what they will find. With Tigger we also found out that he needs his teeth cleaned and it looks like one tooth is infected and may need to be extracted. That is going to cost a small fortune :(.

Pam I think I am going to like the new workouts too. I just wish I could have done Intensity today. Well it is in the rotation for Monday next week, maybe I will have more dinner Sunday night so I don't wake up starving :D. I checked my post and I did say it was Tigger's liver oops it is really his kidneys. Hopefully we caught it soon so all we may have to do is to change up his diet. I need to get a urine sample from him, that will be soooo much fun. I think on-line shopping is the way to go this time of the year. It is just crazy out there.
Was your tree still standing when you got home? That has happened to us several times, I think we had a crappy stand. So we don't put up a tree anymore.
I am sorry to hear about your friends. Cancer is a scary thing to get.

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

Cheryl
