Lurkers Invitation For The Holidays

I did Muscle Max last night and Kick, Punch, Crunch this morning. I also did some pushups. I am now up to 17 on my toes!

Helen Good job on STS Legs and CSB (I love upper body workouts-makes me feel so strong)! Looks like you got to spend your birthday doing some fun things: working out, watching movies, ordering more Cathe DVDs!! Hope you enjoyed your birthday! :D

Janie Great job on Supersets and your walk! Yes it felt good to sleep in yesterday but today it felt good to get up and work, work! That’s double work: one for KPC :) and one for actual work :(!

Cheryl Great job on STS! Yep I got MM in last night. I think resting helped me improve on this one. I didn’t increase my weights this time but I felt really strong and was able to complete all reps at full intensity. Guess I will be bumping up the weights next time!

Happy Tuesday!

Rolly and I went for a walk around the driveway for about 30. min. Here is his new sweater, that I made from a sleeve of my sweater. I was going to toss it out anyway. He's not use to it, it's only been minutes since I put it on. He started protesting, even though nothing was wrong with him. We strutted around for awhile and he is now tolerating it. This will be nice and warm for him when he is out and about in cold weather.

Cheryl, I guess we had a huge storm last night. Winds around 60 mile per hour. Wow, Joey and I slept right through it. YUM, those butter tarts sound wonderful.:p You have great will power, good for you. Great job on STS Disc 7. I love that one.

Julie, Great job on MM and KP&C. Push ups too? You are great and building muscle as we speak. Well done!

Well I was going to do HiiT DWP this morning but it didn't happen. I took some Nyquil last night because I could feel a sore throat coming and I guess it really wiped me out. I did go to my workout room to try but I knew I was still too groggy from the Nyquil. Bummer, I will try again tomorrow.

Julie Good for you in getting Muscle Max in last night and KPC this morning. You are getting stronger on those push ups too. STS Meso 1 will be a breeze for you when you do it :D.

Janie Rolly looks so cute in his sweater. It takes them a while to get used to something. I know when we put collars on our cats for the first time they went wild trying to get it off for a few minutes and then they were fine.
That was quite the storm last night and I slept through it too. The winds were the same for us as well and it lasted throughout the day. I almost got knocked off my feet by the wind trying to walk to my office building this morning.

Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Cheryl

Last night I got my Turbo Tower.:eek: Of course, I had to put it together right away (so easy to do) and play a little. I can tell it is going to take a lot of work to be able to do a pull up but I’m game for it! I also got on the treadmill and did a 45 minute interval run (probably more of a jog to most people because I am just not that fast!)!

This morning I did Drill Max. I love that workout! It is so much fun and goes by so fast. I ran out of time and didn’t get any pushups in so hopefully I can do them tonight.

Janie How ingenious to make a sweater from your old sweater!! Rolly is so adorable! I just want to scoop him up and squeeze him to bits! :p It might take him awhile but he will get used to the sweater and probably even look forward to wearing it when it gets really cold.

Cheryl Hope you are feeling better today. Nyquil knocks me flat out too. I try not to take it on a weeknight when I have to get up for work the next day because if I do I am dragging the whole day. I don’t know about Meso 1 being a breeze. I can do regular pushups on toes but this morning during Drill Max, I couldn’t do the core pushups to save my life and the dive bomber pushups were not fluid at all. Oh well, we can’t be good at everything; all we can do is give it our best!

Have a wonderful Wednesday! My day is chock full of meetings and I have a presentation to give that I am being recorded on. Yuck! :(

Well our servers are down at work here so I thought I would post. At least I can get into the internet. I didn't sleep well at all last night. I didn't take the Nyquil but my throat was scratchy and it kept me up most of the night so I didn't get up early to workout.....bummer again.

Julie I am jealous that you have the tower. It will take a bit to be able to do a pull up but you will get it. At least you can do the easier positions and work up to the harder ones. Good job on your workouts. Core Pushups I think are harder to do than the regular ones. I struggle with those as well as the diver bomber push ups too. You are right that we can only do our best, there are going to be some things that we can do better than others. You are being recorded on your presentation!!!!! It is so weird to hear how your voice sounds.....

Anyway I was just told that the servers are back up so I should get to work. Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Cheryl

Janie: There's not much cuter than a dog in a sweater. And you made it out of your own sweater sleeve! Very resourceful! And I don't make a big deal out of my birthday to anyone. My kids...that's a different story. Their birthdays seem to go on for days! :p

Julie: I bought the tower at the same time I bought STS. It is a really good piece of equipment and stays out of the way nicely when I don't need it. I think you'll find it to be very helpful in lots of ways.

Cheryl: Yes, my family left me alone on my birthday.:( But it's okay...that only happens once every 7 years or so. :) They're leaving me again this weekend, and it's my husband and my 23rd wedding anniversary on Sunday. This will be only the 2nd time we've been apart for our anniversary, so I'm not complaining, and they'll be home on Sunday evening, so we can have a nice dinner. :)

I can't remember if I posted it here or not, but, on my birthday last Saturday, I made a commitment to lose 15 pounds by Christmas Day. No small task. I decided to try to go sugar and salt free to start off the process. I have not had a single grain of sugar or any added salt since last Friday evening. I got on the scale this morning and I am already 5 pounds lighter than I was on Saturday. Maybe it's water weight, but I don't care. :) More important than the number on the scale, is the fact that I have been able to follow through in every way (workouts and nutrition) for the last 5 days.

Also important, I don't feel the urge to "celebrate" that small accomplishment with a glass (or 2) of wine with dinner, or "just a taste" of something that will set me back. I feel very focused and dialed in on what I want to do. It's a great feeling! :)

Today's workout: Disc 5 - Back & Triceps. Also a great feeling! I love it when Cathe says, "I won't lie, this one's gonna sting a little." And then says, "I told you it would sting!" when it's over. :)

Tomorrow will be Core Synergistics from P90X and then I'll round out the week on Friday and Saturday with Disc 6 - Legs and MMA Boxing, respectively.

Have a great evening, everyone!
Helen

Did an upper ball exercise with Joey. Thought I would try a different instructor using the big balls. He doesn't like anything but TBS. Will have to think of something to do differently next time. He seems to not be able to get out of this rut. Well, maybe for me it's a rut. I love variety, I get bored so easily.:(

Cheryl, I know how it goes, trying to get better, but what you take to help that was worse. So sorry you had to miss your workout, but, tomorrow is another day. Take care of your self and hope you are not catching anything. The winds died down by the time we got up. Thank goodness. No more wind today, it was rainy though.

Julie, How exciting to get your Turbo Tower. You are going to LOVE IT! Great job on your treadmill workout and Drill Max. Love that one too.;) I bet you do well on your presentation.

Helen, Congratulations on losing 5 pounds and sticking with a nutrition program. You can do this, you go girl! I think it's great to do this during the holiday season. What better time is there? Keep up the good work! Great job on Back and Triceps today.

Janie

I got my pushups in last night and did Stretch Max 3. It felt so good to stretch! This morning I got on the treadmill for a 60 minutes steady state run and then did my pushups. I struggled to push myself to do 18 in a row before dropping to my knees but I did it!

Cheryl Yep I was recorded. I don’t have the DVD yet but sure can’t wait to watch it! It was a class at work that is supposed to help you improve your presentation skills. I got good feedback both on things I did well and things I can improve on. One thing they said is that my face is very animated and I like to talk with my hands. That should be fun to see on DVD! Hope you got a better night’s sleep last night!

Helen Good job on your workouts. Good luck on your weight loss. It seems like you have a good plan and are committed which means you are already in the right mindset. I too watch my salt intake because high blood pressure runs in my family. So far, I don’t have problems and I want to keep it that way! My DH has a heavy hand with the salt shaker and it drives me crazy! I just wish he would understand I want him to be healthy so we can live a long and happy life together!

Janie Hopefully Joey will get out of his rut of wanting to only do TBS soon. I am like you, I love variety and get bored easily. That is why I love Cathe; so many options! I do love how easy the TT is to take apart and store the base separate from the top. Since I don’t have a lot of room, it is nice to be able to take it apart and store it upright against the wall. I did ok on my presentation. This was really an opportunity to get feedback on what I do well and what I can work on for future presentations.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone (almost the weekend!!!)

Well this cold is doing me in with the workouts. I think I can right this week off and start again next week.

Helen Happy Anniversary. Not being together only twice in 23 years is really good. Enjoy your dinner. Congratulations on your committment to lose 15 pounds before Christmas. It is doable and losing the first 5 pounds is a good start. Who cares if it is water weight. I have found that cutting out the salt and sugar has helped me lose some weight and I am hoping to keep it off.

Janie I am with you in wanting variety but some people like knowing exactly what they are going to do and don't want anything that will throw them off. Good for you to do TBS so much.

Julie You know I don't think I could watch myself. I know I talk a lot with my hands too. Good job with your workouts. The push ups are coming along.

Well they are calling for snow here for the weekend. I am glad we got our snow tires put on yesterday so now we are ready. I am going grocery shopping right after work tomorrow to get it out of the way. Even with snow tires I don't want to be out unless I have to.

Have a great Friday.

Cheryl

Good morning!

Thank you all for the encouragement. Sometimes I feel like I've bitten off more than I can chew (pun intended :p ) when I set my sights on a weight loss goal. This time feels very different. I enjoy a challenge and I think the challenge of staying on track during the holidays is just what I need.

Today I am six days into my quest to lose 15 pounds by Christmas. As of this morning, I have lost 6 pounds. All this tells me is that I had it in me all along. In no way do I think the coming weeks will be easy, but I know I can do it.

Today's workout: Disc 6 - Legs. I used to dread leg workouts. Big (weak) muscles getting fatigued well before the rep count was supposed to be done; soreness from my butt all the way down to my ankles. Now I look forward to working my legs and I gauge a good leg workout by how easy or difficult it is to get on and off the toilet!

I got my Ab Circuits dvd in the mail yesterday and previewed it last night. I'm going to give Yoga Based Abs a shot tomorrow. Abs are my weakest area...I just don't work them enough.

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend, everyone! :D Helen

Whew! I am so glad today is over! It was super busy at work today and I even got to bring some home with me to do over the weekend! What joy!

My day actually started good. I did Butts & Guts. Even though it is pretty hard I just love doing that one! That is until the last bit of floor work right before abs. All those leg lifts, pizza presses, fire hydrants, etc. kill me.

Cheryl Oh I am so sorry you came down with a cold. :( I do hope you get better soon. Try to keep drinking plenty of fluids to flush the virus out. So far we have been safe from the snow but that can only last so long. I hate driving in it so I hope it is a decent winter.

Helen Good job on your workout and continued eating success! Last year I did really well over the holidays and lost weight. This year my goal is to maintain but right now I am not doing so well. I have been eating more than usual and I can definitely feel it in my clothes. I am going to have to tighten up my eating and pay more attention. Oh and I am right there with on gauging my leg workout with the toilet test! I am hoping I have problems tomorrow after Butts & Guts today! :p

Hope everyone had a good Friday!

Did a Firm workout today with Joey, then we did one of All Abs and a Stretch by Cathe. Glad it wasn't TBS.:) Used treadmill for 30 min tonight.

Julie, Great job on reaching your push up goal and stretching. Treadmill is a life saver, isn't it? 60 min., wow, I can't do that yet.

Cheryl, Aw, I know how it is when you are sick. Do nothing but sit around, drink plenty of water and more rest. That's the only way to get better. Hope you feel better soon.

I do cherish my Joey working out with me, even if I complain to you all that he loves just one workout. I would rather do this over and over again, cause I love him. I think I'm convincing him that he needs variety and it only takes 2 or 3 times to get use to another DVD. Soon I hope to do more of Cathe. Of course I can do TBS and then another DVD, but man that's a lot of time. Will do it if I need to.

Snow this weekend? I better go to the store too then. First thing tomorrow morning.

Helen, I'm with you on losing weight. My goal will be to lose pounds before the New Year. I think I need to do that too. Here it goes. I'll eat right and lots of workouts to make this happen. You are such a great inspiration. Thank you! I've been slipping a bit and the pounds are starting to creep up. Time to nip it at the bud.

Great job on legs today. LOL:eek: about you gauging a good workout! To Funny. You are going to love Ab Circuits. Very challenging.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Janie

Well another day off, I am going to try to do something tomorrow. I can feel that I haven't worked out for a few days now. Got the grocery shopping done tonight. They are still calling for snow and I can see the snow line on the mountains is really low so I know we are next. I think by Tuesday they say it will be down to -7 C that is somewhere around 28 - 29 F

Helen Just think you are almost half way there to your weight loss goal. I think when we really make a committment we can do what we set out to do. You are going to catch up to me with the STS rotation. I think I am going to start week 3 again on Monday since I have missed so much this week. I like that.......how easy it is to get off the toilet :D. And since the toilet seat is hard and cold how much it hurts just to sit there . Yoga based abs is hard but good. You will enjoy that one.

Julie Lucky you to have to work on the weekend. Hopefully it won't take you too long to get it done. The floor work in Butts and Guts get me too. The fire hydrants really kill me. We are suppose to have a nasty winter this year. Last year our winter was the warmest on record and of course it had to be the year we hosted the Olympics

Have a great Saturday everyone. I may be shoveling snow....

Cheryl

I did Low Max today and the 2 set upper body only premix from Push/Pull. After that, I had to work a little and now I can relax for awhile.

Janie Glad you got to work out to something other than TBS!! I am still working up to 60 minutes on the treadmill. I can do it but then later my hip flexors are paying the price.

Cheryl Sounds like you might be getting a little better if you are talking about working out tomorrow. Hope you got it in!

Have a wonderful weekend!

hi ladies, I'm back! It looks like you have all been doing a great job with your workouts. Helen Congratulations on your weight loss! Wow, you are doing amazing! Cheryl I hope you are feeling better today!

My workouts for the last week consisting of packing and hauling, but I am happy to say that we got it all done! Got the place cleaned out, got to bring back everything that my mom really wanted, met the new owners and they were wonderful, got the closing documents signed made it back home in one piece! I was worried about the number of visitors that were stopping in at first, but that turned out to be a good thing because they would keep my mother busy and not trying to lug things around! We gave away all kinds of furniture and other items to neighbors and relatives and goodwill and the Canadian Diabetes association. The trash folks there will take ANYTHING you put out, so everything else went to the road. They even took our mattresses!

I really missed all of you and Cathe though! We got home Friday afternoon and I slept in and didn't workout yesterday, but this morning did 40/20 and medicine ball abs. It was hard but felt really good! Now it's time to start preparing for all of the in-laws to start arriving on Tuesday! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Pam

I completely lost my post. Frustrating! Rolly and I went to a trail and walked 30 min. in the snow. It's so beautiful. Saw two of the dogs today that are now getting familiar and gave them treats. Why didn't I do this years ago?

Cheryl, Are you feeling any better today? Are you shoveling snow? Be well.

Pam, I sure did miss you. So glad everything went like clockwork moving your Mom. I'm so happy for all of you. I know it must have been a lot of work. I don't envy anyone moving.

Take care everyone and be safe.

Janie

I didn't workout yesterday but I went to yoga this morning. I will get back into it tomorrow.

Julie You got a good workout in yesterday. I took some Nyquil Friday night so even though I did try to workout I still felt the effects of the Nyquil so it just wasn't happening. Tomorrow I will get back into it since I am feeling better and don't need the Nyquil now.

Pam Glad to see you back. You did have a busy week but now it is all done. How is your mom doing now that it is all over? That is nice that the trash people took everything that you put out. That really helps.

Janie It is fustrating to lose your post, I did that once. How much snow did you get? We were supposed to get snow but for our area it never happened (not that I am complaining). It is really cold here though, it is below freezing and it is supposed to stay this way until at least Wednesday. Have you introduced Rolly to the dogs yet?

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday.

Cheryl

This morning I got on the treadmill for 60 minutes. I really wasn’t looking forward to it at first but by the time I was about done, I was so happy I did it! I also did pushups today. I could only do 17 on my toes this time. I really tried to get that 18th but I just couldn’t do it! :(

Pam So nice to see you are back and that everything went well for you last week. We missed you too! Great job on 40/20 and mb abs especially after a week off. I don't have anyone coming to stay with me so I can't relate there; but, every night this week, I will be trying to make 1 or 2 things for Thanksgiving so I don't have as much to do on Thursday.

Janie I bet your walk in the snow was beautiful. You are a braver woman than I walking in the snow. I just can’t talk myself into walking outside during the winter since I get so cold so easily (even though I know I will warm up-it is still hard for me to do). ;) Glad to hear it is still going well with the dogs.

Cheryl Good to hear you are getting better. Great job on doing yoga! That is a great way to ease your way back into working out from being sick. I hope you were able to get your workout in today. I know it must be frustrating to have to have taken off so long but you did what is right for you to get better. :)

Happy Monday everyone!

Janie That is so frustrating when you lose a post! I don't know about you, but it always takes me longer to write these than I think it should! Wow, snow  I was very happy not to see any of that while we were up north! It was sunny and in the 70's here all weekend , that was great to come home to! I'm so glad that you are making friends with at least 2 of the dogs, I bet that is a big relief!

Cheryl I know what you mean about the Nyquil - I feel so groggy the next day after taking it. I'm glad you are feeling better and don't need it anymore though.
My mom is actually not doing great, but it's not because of the clean out. She was really happy to go and do that and bring back the things that she really wanted. However, on the way up she was talking about how the back of her knee was hurting. By Tuesday one of her legs was very badly swollen. She refused to go see a Doctor up there so my goal became to get packed up and out of there as quickly as possible and I had my sister make her a Dr appt here for as soon as we got back. We were planning to head home on Friday morning but left Thursday afternoon and drove halfway and then got home around 2:30 on Friday. She was admitted to the hospital on Saturday but they still aren't quite sure what is going on. They were sure she had a blood clot but couldn't find any, so then they started treating her for cellulitis. Yesterday when the Dr looked at it he said it looked more like trauma and that was the first time she thought to mention to him that she had been in a car accident a few weeks ago! Now they think it is a hematoma and the trauma surgeon is supposed to see her today to make sure it isn't an enlarging hematoma which apparently can be quite dangerous. Of course she kept telling me that she was a nurse so she knows what to do and that she just needed to exercise it, even though she could hardly walk! Hopefully they will get it figured out today. She is beside herself because she wants to go home because she has 'things to do'.

Julie Good for you sticking to your workout when you didn't feel like it. Those are the days that I always feel good about having done it. I haven't been doing my pushups since going up north, but will probably start again next week.

This morning was pyramid upper body. Such a good one but boy that stability ball work at the end was tough! I could not do all of the pikes though :( Have a great Monday everyone!

Pam

Will be doing some kind of cardio later on today and during the week. Will also take a week off from weight lifting until after Thanksgiving. Then we'll start fresh again, hopefully with the new workouts.

Here's a picture just out side our back door looking onto the deck today. Snowing!

393557159.jpg

Cheryl, Great job on yoga today. We are at 32 degrees F. It's really coming down right now. Don't know when it will stop. I think it's time to build a snowman soon. The dogs seem to stay at home when it's rainy or snowing. But am looking forward to introduce Rolly sometime in the near future.

Julie, I'm thinking about building a snowman today for my cardio. We'll see how much more snow we get before I do it. Great job on your 60 min. treadmill. The weather has been either rainy or snowy, seems the dogs don't come out during those times.

Pam, Great job on PUB. That one is a challenge for me with the ball too. I have to modify. Your poor Mom. I sure hope they figure out what is going on with her. (((((prayers and hugs))))). "So many changes and so many things that need to be done", (those ideas must be rolling in her head).

Take care everyone,

Janie
