Lurkers Invitation 2010

Pam that's funny I like to watch food channel my DH say change channel or its going to be a very expensive grocery bill, with all your crazy recipes, oh yeah but he loved it too specially all the sweet stuff.:p some times we watch this together!!
I love kick boxing because I get a good core workout, the crunch based core its easy, but I kind of get distracted and I loose the contraction of the belly:confused:
Do you do your own hair? when I was living in Virginia I was working so I did afford to get my hair done in a salon but now no way its so expensive so my hair is like a bunch of samples in one head Lol!!
Morning workout the best, everyone its still sleeping in, no body around I can think about my self and that's it I love it! after noon I get lasy...
so sad when people don't understand us but there is when you get to know the real friends!! Good for you Pam that you don't see that people any more, bad for them they don't have you as a friend..
No Pam she cannot work legally until she get her residence, I just hope everything gets fix, I don't have alternative but support her and keep talking to her, she might get some of everything I say...
Yeah! I will be fine for this coming rotation until I get all of my stuff pack, we get to have a shipment with some essential to carry on us while we get everything else, I was telling DH can I pack my step and my DVDs? No? that's essential and very important, right?!! No I don't think so:( I'm gonna have to wait.
Thanks Pam I'll be thinking about you every time I wear shorts, shorts!!

Don't laugh to much Pam! Mmmm those baby back ribs sound so yummy!! What can get better then that, skiing, yummy ribs, dinner under the storm, Mmmmm nice!!:D

Chery I haven't check the July rotation very well I don't even remember whats on it but for what you say looks like its going to be a tough one.. good I like that;) I haven't even check my weight I know is hard to loose some pounds but I take what I have, I get what you say Cheryl some times I do think the same, I would like to eat everything I want and just have a big fat ass, and then again no way I want to age gracefully!!
How are you doing with your sleep? Oh my DD I hope everything get better she is on one of those stage of life when I don't even want to see her! but she'll be fine hopefully.
One more week off yayayyy!!!!! that's good news I thought that you was going back to work this coming Monday:D have fun and enjoy the rest of it!

Janie welcome back!! and don't do the same I did I went back to workout to fast and hard that I was on pain for a while I couldn't even move when I was sleeping:confused:

Looks like you have a lot to do too!! take care!

Today I got up early it was hard when I look at DH sleeping I just wanted to stay on bed, but NOT I got up and did Kick Max it was pretty good its been so hot this past few days that even 8:00 am its pretty hot already I was driping on sweat I had to change my top before I did biceps hot, hot, hot, but it felt good to see that I was sweating from head to toes:D I think I'll take Sunday off so I'll be ready for Monday workout.. I'll see you Pam we have a date get ready to sweat!!!
Have a good weekend everyone!!

Went for a 45 min. speed walk with Rolly. Did an hour of yoga. It was so great to be back doing what I love. Getting healthy!

Went from in the 100's to 58 degrees here in the Pac. NW. this morning. Love it, perfect for speed walking outside. But what a difference from where I was. Wow.

Eunice, Thank you for the advice. I promise I won't get into the exercises too fast. I wouldn't want to disturb my sleep at any cost if possible.LOL:D;)

Good job on Kick Max. Now try to stay cool.

Janie

Cheryl I can't remember the last time I did Body Max 2 all the way through! Normally I do the cardio part and the intervals and then I do the weights separately. I don't often have 90 minutes to spend on my workout so we'll see how it goes.
It really is nice to see that mortgage balance going down. With the amount of the payment that usually goes to interest it can be frustrating when it seems like the principle is never dropping but you're right that at least at the end you own it.
I also look at some of the people I know who never work out and they aren't very heavy and it makes me wonder if all the work is worth it or if it's really doing anything. Not that I could ever give up my workouts because I love them. I get very cranky if I'm not able to work out for awhile! :p It does seem like with all of the working out I should be able to eat more though!
I'm wondering where my lottery earnings are too, but I guess you have to buy tickets if you want to win, huh? ;)
I know what you mean about the cats becoming like kids. They are just such a part of the family. I had an 18 year old that we lost 3 years ago. He was just the sweetest thing and it was so hard when we knew the end was close. I agonized over whether to take him in and have him put down, but he didn't seem to be in pain and he hated riding in the car, so we decided not to put him through that. The night before he died my DH sat up all night with him on his lap on the screened porch because he couldn't go to sleep. :( Hopefully you will have all 3 of yours for many many more years.

Janie Welcome home!! I know you are excited to be back and anxious to get back to your routine. It sounds like you had a great day planned. Do you make all of Rolly's food?! I hope you are getting rested up. We missed you around here too!
It's quite the temperature change for you! It's nice that you are able to get out and enjoy those walks now without worrying about getting heat stroke. It's good for your sole getting back to the things that you love so good for you!

Eunice Your DH sounds like mine. He kind've complains about the food network but he really likes that I like to cook and loves all of the fun new recipes.
I keep trying to like kick boxing but it just isn't my thing I'll do it every once in awhile for a change, but as you know, it's not one I will reach for by choice.

I don't do my own hair. I go to a salon and I love the woman who does my hair and she is pretty reasonably priced, but I don't like having to color my hair so often now I used to only color it every othe time. Now I have to have it done every time and I really need it sooner than I get it done.

You are so sweet to say bad for those people that they don't have me as a friend :) I guess that makes sense the DD can't work until she gets her residence - what a hassle. Was she born outside the US? I'm sure that some of what you are saying to her is sinking in, but at that age it's pretty common to think that you know it all. I hope that things work out for you with her soon.
I would say that your step and DVDs are definitely essentials!!! Do you know when you have to send your non-essentials? We will enjoy the rotation until that happens. I haven't looked at the calendar yet for tomorrow's workout, but I'm thinking that it's the original Imax. :eek:That's the attitude with those shorts! :D And good for you getting up and doing KickMax. It always feels so good when the workout is finished doesn't it?!

Yesterday we went to the lake and it was really windy. It makes it really hard to ski when the water is rough like that but we just looked at it as a workout. We had to leave after just one set (we usually do 2) because there was thunder and lightening. We were glad that we decided not to try to wait it out because we ended up having one storm after another all day and evening. We were so happy though because we needed the rain so badly The water in our lake was getting realloy low and then you have to start worrying about stumps, but all the rain yesterday filled it right back up :D We went this morning and skiied a couple of sets I tweaked my lower back though  so I need to do some stretching this evening and hopefully I'll be able to work it out. I fell like I'm falling apart all of a sudden with the ankle and the back  It didn't keep me from skiing my second set though and I'm determined that it won't keep me from my workout in the morning! have a great Sunday everyone!!

Pam

Janie Welcome back. The mornings in the Pacific Northwest are great aren't they. I love that it cools down a lot in the evenings so you can sleep and then it is nice during the day. I know I can't do 100 degrees. Glad that you can also get your exercising in. You really do miss it when you don't do it.

Pam It had been a long time for me doing Body Max 2 all the way through too. I don't normally have that much time to workout but since I have been on vacation I don't have to cram so much other stuff in on the weekend.
I know what you mean with people who don't workout and aren't heavy at all. But I think they are still unhealthy and that it will eventually catch up with them. I can't give up my workouts either, but like you it makes you sometimes wonder if it is worth all that time and effort and that darn it you should be able to eat what you want LOL.
I should buy lottery tickets if I expect to win also. We have one lottery that is around 50 mil again. Maybe I should get one and see what happens.
It would be so hard loosing one of your pets. I am really dreading the day but I hope that it isn't for a long time yet. I could see my DH doing the same as yours did.
Doesn't it seem that all of a sudden everything starts going on you..... I have found the same thing is the past year especially with my back. Oh to have the body of a 20 year old again.

Eunice The Imaxs, HiiT and Body Maxes are on the July rotation. It is tough but a good tough. I sometime get fustrated with having to watch everything that I eat and sometimes I say to heck with it and have something bad. Then I regret it because I feel so crappy afterwards. I have been sleeping really good. It has really been cooling down at night so it is easy to sleep. I hate it when it doesn't cool down and everything including the pillow it hot. Don't worry things will get better between you and your daughter. It is a tough stage she is going through for you. I am so glad that I have another week off. That first week went by so fast and we really didn't do too much.

This morning was sort of a day off. I did core max 2 and was supposed to do some stretching but we were going to the local flea market this morning so I didn't have time to do it. I guess I farted (can I say that ?)around too much this morning

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Cheryl

Good morning ladies, I hope everyone had a good weekend.
Cheryl You're right, there is nothing like sleeping when it is cool outside and you can snuggle up under a nice warm blanket. I just love that. You are right about those people who are thin and don't workout not being healthy. Everyone assumes that if you are thin you are healthy and if you aren't thin you're not but of course that isn't true. Wouldn't it be great to win that $50 million lottery?! Of course then you see all these stories about people who win huge lotteries and it ruins their lives. I'm pretty sure I could handle it though :D Core max 2 yesterday - how are your abs feeling today? I felt that one for 2 days afterwards! I hope you enjoy your second week off!

My DH is in Chicago for the week so I'll be alone til the kids get here on Wednesday. Yesterday after I dropped him off at the airport I was hanging out doing my glass and the next door neighbors stopped in with a bottle of wine. It was a nice surprise visit. They have a daughter who is very seriously into softball so they have been gone all weekend every weekend for that and we hadn't seen them in weeks so when they saw the lights on they stopped in. This morning was Imax. It's funny I hadn't done that one in awhile and now I've done it twice in 2 weeks. Good thing I like it :). Now it's off to work, I hope everyone has a great Monday!

Pam

Good morning everyone a quick stop by to say hello!!!! I just finish Imax that was a tough one that I've not done in a very long, long time since I injured my ankle, but it was good, a good sweat a lot of jumps, I don't know if I'm the only one, but I was reading on how to do all the plyo jumps, when we jump try to flex the quads pointing the toes down so I was thinking I don't think I have been doing it like that si I've been paying more attention to my jumps, and flex, point toes and I really can feel my legs burn, some thing that I should have known but I didn't and I'm improving that make my day.....
Well Pam so bad we are so far away if not I would visit you too. I hope you don't feel so lonely this week....or enjoy your mini vacation:D:p
How was your ankle with all this crazy jumps?! Looks like you had a great weekend, good for you!:D
Cheryl have fun in the flea market, we don't have that kind of market around so its been a while since I have being in one, your day off its a day of walking, walking that could be a active recovery day!! :p
Well I have to go we have another passport appointment and I have to take my car to the dealer,so its going to be another busy day!!! Have a good Monday everyone!
Hi Shani & Janie!!!

Pam, Believe me, if a skinny person is not exercising and not eating healthy, they are not healthy. Their heart for sure is sick. Tom Venuto explains it very well in his book "Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle". Check it out, most wonderful info I've ever come across. By exercising, you are doing great favors for your body.

I do make all of Rolly's food. I also set a dish aside purchased from the store of a few dog food bags (I just may stop that), but he'd rather eat what I prepare for him. I have a book written from a vet with lots of recipes to make our fury family, healthy. I for sure don't have to worry about what is inside the dog food you buy at the store.:)

I really missed all of you too! Right now I'm staying put for a very long time. I even don't think I will be going this Fall on our scheduled trip. Just want to be home, exercise the way I want and chat with close friends on Cathe's Nation.;) I'm also thinking seriously about joining a Karate class. I'm going out today for more healthy food and may just drop by and see what's up there. Yes, my soul is very happy right now.:D

Your skiing adventures are awesome! Stormy, stumps, river rising... If you are still having ankle problems, it could be you haven't given it enough rest, and may cause more injury to it. Do be careful. Have a great stretch especially your back:)

Cheryl, you work so hard on your exercises and did such a great job on Core Max, I just don't think that you have to do stretches right after a workout, perhaps a little stretching later. Enjoy the flea market. I love doing that!

I do very much LLLLOOOOVVVVEEEEE the Pac. NW. I now know I can't do 100 degrees either.LOL I'm so glad I'm home.

Pam, Alone time, can be so refreshing for you. Enjoy it.;) How nice of your neighbors to drop in with wine. It sounds quaint.

Great job on IMax. Have a good day at work.:)

Eunice, Glad you enjoyed IMax. Seems you have, with all that sweating going on. Good for you!. I didn't know that about pointing/flexing your toes when jumping. We learn something new everyday. Thanks for the tip, I'll remember that next time.

Take care everyone and enjoy your day.

Janie

It sounds like most of us had one of the Imaxes scheduled for today. For me it was Imax 3 which I have always had problems with. I only did half of it because all of the high impact was bothering my back then I did some stretching after.

Pam I love it when it is warm during the day and then it cools down a lot at night. I hate not being able to sleep with my quilt. I think sometimes there is a misconception that people who are skinny are fit and people who aren't are unhealthy. There are people who look to be overweight but they workout and eat right, I think it is just their body type that keeps them from slimming down. There are some skinny people that I have seen that look really good in clothes but put them in a bathing suit and it isn't so good. They are very soft and flabby. I think I could stand winning 50 mil, I would have more friends than I could count but I think I could handle it. Actually after Core Max 2 my abs aren't feeling it at all  I don't know why I did all of the exercises........
Isn't it nice when you get unexpected guests and they bring wine. It is nice to hang out with the neighbours every once in a while. We do that here, our place seems to be the gathering spot.

Eunice This flea market has been around for as long as I can remember. We really didn't find anything though but it was nice to get out and do a lot of walking. Wow you have a busy day ahead of you. Hope everything goes smoothly.

Janie A karate class would be a really good workout. I have thought about taking one too but I never want to go out after I have come home from work. I wish I got the stretching in later that day but it just got away from me. So I did some stretching this morning instead. It was an Imax 3 day but my back was sore so I only did half of it and then tacked on the stretching after. It sounds like it is going to get really hot around here later in the week. I guess we should enjoy the cool evenings while we still have them.

Hi Shani hope you had a great weekend.

Have a great Tuesday everyone.

Cheryl

Eunice Good morning! How did it go yesterday? Did you get the passport? I hope so! If sounds like I haven't been doing those plyo jumps properly all this time, I can't imagine those things being even harder! It has been awhile since my DH travelled so it's not so bad for me. I have been the one having to travel before and I much prefer getting to stay home!

Janie I think that by exercising we are doing great favors for both our bodies AND our minds! There is nothing like a good sweat session to work out the stress for me!

I'm impressed that you make all of Rolly's food. Wow. I bet he WOULD rather eat what you make for him! He is a lucky dog (but we already knew that!) Good for you staying put for awhile! There is nothing like coming home when you've been away for awhile! A karate class sounds like great fun! Not to mention it is a great skill to have too!

Cheryl Yes imax 3 is VERY high impact. It seems like most of the intervals are jumping intervals in that one. I hope your back is doing better. Mine is still feeling whatever I did to it on Sunday, but luckily it's not interfering with sleep or anything like that.
You are so right about seeing those unfit people in bathing suits not being good :D Clothes can cover a lot!!
I think I would figure out how to handle all those new friends if I won 50 mil too! At least I like to believe that I could :p I'm surprised your abs weren't feeling core max 2 - wow! That one stuck with me for a few days
It was really nice to get the unexpected guests. I have a friend who HATES pop in visitors, but I think it's kind've nice (as long as the house isn't a wreck when they drop in ) We have a really nice neighborhood too, but in the summer it seems like we don't see the neighbors so much because we are always at the lake and they all have things going on also We have more very hot weather coming also - it's supposed to be 100 all weekend  I guess the lake will be a hot tub again

Shani I hope you are doing well, are you getting ready for your big trip?!

This morning was High Step Challlenge. Those hover squats at the end are killers, but it's a fun workout and goes by really quickly. Is this the one that you don't have Eunice, or do you have this one? Anyway, off to work now, have a great day everyone!

Pam

Walked Rolly about 45 min. and then did aerobic yoga for an hour.

Cheryl, I need to do more IMax's. Just need to find more time. Good job on that by the way, not an easy workout for sure. Half is better than none.;)

I think I'll go today and see what Karate classes are all about.

Pam, Great job on HSC. I have to agree on the hover squats. Ouch! Have a good day at work.

Janie

Eunice It is so hard to let our kids learn from their mistakes, but your hubby is right. Have you thought of telling your daughter your regrets about the choices you made when you were her age? Maybe telling her how you just want the best life possible for her and to not have to live with the regrets you have.

Yes, Sandra is tiny. Only 4’9” tall! And she is done growing. She has been small all her life, even at birth.

How nice that your hubby likes to eat adventurously! Mine loves to watch shows on the Food Network, but he really cringes at anything new. Poor guy… I’m the opposite, and I’m the one that cooks! LOL

I think the step is essential to pack! But I can see how it wouldn’t be easy to transport… so maybe just kickboxing workouts? DVDs are easy to pack and carry on the plane (put them in plastic sleeves!) What is the weather like in Australia? Maybe it won’t be quite as hot as where you are now. That would be nice for workouts. ;)

I didn’t know about the proper way to do plyo jumps either, but honestly I think I’m struggling enough as is without worrying about making them tougher. LOL It is like you have to get to a certain fitness point before you can take it to the next point! ;)

Pam Hmm… not creative at work but manage a bunch of creative people? Sounds tough. ;)

My daughter has a false sense of confidence too… Congrats on the new driver, although yeah, scary!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks the levitation holds are tough. There must be some sort of secret to them. ;)

Aging is tough for sure. I’ve got LOTS of wrinkles showing under my eyes when I smile. That is something I’ve just noticed and was shocked about. I went to the department store immediately for help! LOL (Sorry about the chicken neck. I’m sure I’ll get it too.)

Your DH thinks you have crazy cat lady potential? I definitely do… I had feral cats I was trying to tame in my old neighborhood. 3 cats became 27 before I had a chance to tame them all. I really only had 2 successes. Lesson learned. :(

You are right that people don't know what to say/do when someone is getting divorced! But after having gone through it, I just feel so bad for them… it is the WORST feeling because the person who knows you best rejects you. And yeah, I lost friends I never thought I would have lost. Sad isn’t it?

I did get some great yard sale deals… but my husband is a bit irritated that we now have more Christmas stuff to store. LOL

Your time on the lake sounds nice (and well the ribs, they must have been amazing!) I love thunderstorms too. I’ve had a few that were really fun. One was in the Texas hill country while we were on vacation and it just rolled in full of power and left as quickly. Very entertaining. :) And then in Arizona they have these wild electrical storms where you can see 8-12 lightning strikes at a time. Really spooky stuff. Great if you are indoors, scarier than all get out if you get stuck outside! How often do you ski? Every day?

I am kind of getting ready for my trip but here at work they are keeping me so busy I can’t see straight and I’ve been working overtime… I took tomorrow off so that I can pack and pick up the last few things we need for the trip, plus get the house in order so that nothing goes bad in the fridge while we are gone. LOL

I’m with you - hover squats are rough!

Cheryl I think my metabolism is starting to be a lot like yours. I just need to get to your willpower of not eating something because you know the consequences. I still do it in spite of the fact. Although I am noticing that greasy things have lost their appeal, and if I eat it anyhow, my digestive system really makes me pay. My daughter just complained of the same thing and told me I should start cooking less healthy, so she can enjoy fast food again. LOL

Thanks for calling me a youngun. :D

I’m sure my friend and his family is going to have a tough time adjusting to the weather. They have lived their entire lives where temperatures only vary 25 degrees, and the time of sunset and sunrise changes only by a maximum of 10 minutes every year! (They were very close to the equator.) They are fantastic people and are linguists so the language at least will be pretty easy. They started learning French over a year ago.

I hope you don’t lose your cats for quite awhile! Isn’t amazing how important our fur babies become to us?

Pretty weird how we were all doing IMAXes on the same day! I was doing IMAX too. ;)

Janie, Welcome back! I loved reading "Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle". It is the first book like that that I highlighted and read for quite a long time without stopping. Rolly sounds like quite the lucky dog. :)

I did Leaner Legs this morning and tomorrow I will do Pyramid Upper Body. Those low-ends get you every time (and seem to last FOREVER,) but for the first time I actually made it through all the reps without quitting just shy of finishing. Accomplishment!

I am going nuts at work… need to get back to it but was so far behind with all of you that I thought I’d go through the posts during lunch. Have a great week and a half. I doubt I’ll be able to check in after tomorrow.

Pam Imax 3 is one I have had a hard time with since I got it. I may have been able to do it all the way through once in all these years. Well something to work towards :D My back is doing better today, I am glad that yours is doing OK too. Back problems really suck. I don't know why I wasn't feeling Core Max 2 because I hadn't done it in a while. It is just weird:confused: I kinda like pop in visitors too especially if it is someone you haven't seen in a while. We are the opposite of you where we see everyone during the summer and then when winter comes everyone is inside where it is warm. I don't know how you can cope with 100 degrees all of the time. I find the 80's plenty warm for me. Aren't those hover squats hard, I remember cursing Cathe under my breath :D

Janie I thought doing half was better than not doing it at all. Imax 3 is the killer one for me. The other two are tough but I am able to do them all the way through. Let us know what you think of the Karate classes.

Shani I find those levitation holds impossible to do too. Cathe makes them look so easy, for that matter she usually makes every thing look easy. Well my willpower isn't always there, I try but sometimes it is tough even if I know what the consequences will be. I am with you in that greasy food has lost it's appeal. My husband on the other hand thinks MacDonalds is just the greatest ever  I really don't like that place at all. My husband would also like it if I cooked less healthy so he could enjoy more fast food.
And you are welcome...youngun.
The summer probably won't be a problem for your friends but the winter at least the first one will be hard. Just wait till they have to deal with the time changes, I don't even like that one. Learning French is good you do hear a lot of it in Ottawa and Quebec is just across the river. If your friends like to go shopping for clothes Montreal which is just two hours away would be the place to go. It isn't quite New York but it comes close.
I noticed that too that everyone was doing one of the Imaxes.
Enjoy your trip to New York, buy lots of clothes :D

Today was Low Impact Circut. This is one of my favorites. Have a great Wednesday.

Cheryl

Wanted something new to write in and use for a food and exercise journal. Always used these lined yellow paper tablets. Boring:confused:.

Went to Walmart and found these wonderful little composition tablets that consist of 100 sheets of paper. They are 9 3/4 x 7 1/2 in. They all have black and white covers with 4 different patterns on each one of them. I bought 4 each of the 4 patterns. They were only 25 cents each. What a bargain! $4.00 for 16 tablets. Each sheet will be used for two days. There is also lots of room left over for comments of the day.

They are so much like a (now I am showing my age) pee chee folder, with metric unit conversions, fractions, decimal, percentages, multiplication chart, spelling rules, punctuation and Web Reference (General Reference and Research sites) and wide ruled lines of paper in-between the covers.

I love these things! They should last me for years. Also bought a black calculator ($1.00) to add and subtract my calories going in and calories going out. Couldn't resist buying an electric pencil sharpener. Am I going to far?

What a nice fresh start. Well, it's an inspiration for me anyway, and I need that. Tomorrow I start writing in one and calling it, "Staying Healthy by Fighting Off Unwanted Fat and Gaining Strength". My pencil is sharp and ready to go.

shani
, Keeping you that busy at work is such a bummer. Is it because you are planning a trip and they won't know what to do without you? I bet you are very busy at home, preparing for it. When you are finally on your trip, just have fun, enjoy yourself and forget about it.LOL New York sounds like a lot of fun.

Bring any workout that you don't have to use a lot of equipment. There is plenty to chose from Cathe's DVD's.

Aging is tough on me too. I'm 59 and fighting it all the way. I started with Retin-A for a couple of weeks now and see that it is doing it's job. Skin is peeling and kinda sorta red, but that is a good sign to refresh the skin underneath and promote collagen. It will be a long time before I see any results, but it is scientifically proven that it is an anti-aging product. It cost only $22.00 in Mexico verses much much more here in the states. Up to 50-100 dollars for one tube. I bought two, and one should last you 6 months. I'm hoping I won't have anymore chicken neck! Yuck! We;ll see how it works on me. Crossing fingers.

Today you did a great workout, Congratulations for making it through all the reps. and enjoy PUB tomorrow. I love that one.

Cheryl, I've checked out the Karate classes here in Shelton, and they are all at the time when Joey and I sit down to eat and watch movies in our theater. Darn!:(

Great job on LIC. It's one of my favorites too.;)

Take care and have a nice evening.

Janie

Shani Sorry to hear that work has been so busy, it sounds like your break is coming at a great time. Sorry about the wrinkles under your eyes, but we just have to think of it as character, right? ;)
I don't think those levitation holds are just tough - I think they are impossible! :p I push up on my arms, but both feet stay firmly planted on the floor!
I've never tried to tame the feral cats, but I am always feeding them. Of course as a result I've ended up feeding possums and fox too

It was sad losing friends that I never thought I'd lose, but it really showed me that they were never the friends that I thought they were. That is funny about your Christmas purchases at the yard sale. That is one thing that I try not to buy anymore because I don't even use half of the Christmas stuff that I have now. Of course I would love some of those big light up balls for the outside trees :D

Those Arizona thunderstorms sound scary to me, but my DH would love them. We had a tornado warning one time with a funnel cloud reported a couple of miles away. I had the kids and the cats in the laundry room in the basement and my husband was standing out in the middle of the cul de sac watching the storm! I thold him he wasn't setting a very good example for the kids! We don't usually get to ski during the week with work, but usually try to ski at least Saturday and Sunday and often on Friday too. It doesn't leave us a lot of time to do anything else in the summer, but that's ok because we really enjoy it.

I hope you have a great time on your trip!

Cheryl I have only done Imax 3 a couple of times. It is probably my least favorite Imax because it seems like it is nothing but jumping. I also used to do the hardcaore extreme a lot that has some of the Imax 3 intervals mixed in I prefer it to Imax 3. I'm glad to hear that your back is doing better Mine is a lot better than it was but it still feels stiff. I think the way that we cope with the hot weather is that we are usually inside in the air conditioning or at the lake. Our lake is really shallow though, so when we have long spells of hot weather it gets to be so warm that it isn't really refreshing anymore.

Janie It sounds like you ad a lot of fun on your Walmart excursion Sometimes it's the little things that really make a difference and keep us motivated. It sounds like you got a real bargain on your tablets too! I have never heard of a pee chee folder?! Anyway, good job with finding something to get you so excited and motivated.

You'll have to let me know if the retin A helps with the chicken neck! If it does I just might have to get some. In the meantime I'll sit over here saying bawk bawk bawk (that's my chicken impression :p )

This morning was Power Max. An oldie but a goodie. Those thong leotards and big scrunchies in the hair keep you laughing during the slow part at the beginning. That is one of my go to step workouts. This afternoon I have an appt at the hair salon - hooray, good bye gray for a few weeks.

Eunice How did your day go yesterday? Did you get the news on your car? Let us know!

have a great day everyone!

Pam

Walked Rolly about 30 min. Warmed up with Joey doing TBS and did IMAX 1. Whew! Lordy, Lordy!

Pam, Good job on the Power Max. One of my most favorite step for sure. Lots of fun and laughter. LOL

I keep my gray. When I put color in it, it just doesn't look right for me and my hair starts to get very dried out.:(

Here's a couple pictures of a Pee Chee and how it came about. I used them in high school. 1966-1969. LOL

Folder front

Folder back

Pee Chee All Season Portfolio was a common American stationery item in the second half of the 20th century, commonly used by students for storing school papers. It was first produced in 1943 by the Western Tablet and Stationery Company of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Pee Chees were later produced by the Mead Corporation.
These relatively inexpensive folders were made of card stock and had two internal pockets for the storage of loose leaf paper. The pockets were printed with a variety of reference information including factors for converting between Imperial and metric measurement units, and a multiplication table. The folders had fallen out of general use by the 2000s,[1] but are available from Mead as of 2010.[2]
The illustrations on Pee Chee folders changed occasionally over the years, but usually depicted high school age students engaged in sports or other activities. The major difference from the Pee Chee and other paper folders were the inside pockets. Pee Chee had pockets located at the sides, not the bottom, which prevented the contents from falling out if the folder was inadvertently stored upside-down.

So far the Rentin-A is doing it's job. I see noticeable differences, but maybe it's because I want to so badly. There is skin comming off and a slight redness and a shiny face when bare. I think I see my spots disappearing and everything is getting to be one color. Hmmmmm. Can this be true already? Still have the wrinkles though, perhaps they will mellow out in time. Still really too early to tell.

Cheryl They actually moved to Gatinaeu (sp?). I just talked to him today and they got there on Thursday and have moved into their apartment. He sounded really upbeat and all the kids are having a blast (so far.) He said it was really hot (30 C). hehe It may be quite awhile before they can go clothes shopping like that… They can’t afford the van they need so they are buying a car and the boys are taking the bus for the time being (they have 5 kids.) I’m excited for their adventure.

On the feral cats: I would sit outside with the food near me and sit cross-legged with my eyes closed. After about half an hour they would come very nervously to eat, but if I moved at all (including a twitch) they would be off and running. After a week or so I’d start moving slightly and gradually build up to where I was moving around more but never reaching out to touch them. Then, I’d put the food in my hand in that same frozen position. They eventually would eat around me and over time I could touch them although a few never came around. Unfortunately this little routine of mine took so long that they became pregnant and the process started all over again. It was a bit easier with their kittens because the mommas didn’t pass on the same nervousness as their mother did.

PamThose balls for the outside tree sounds neat. We have a big oak tree out front and that would look COOL! LOL Uh oh, now you’ve given me a big idea. ;)

That’s neat that you’ve found something you enjoy so much. I have skied a few times, and enjoyed it although the last time I skied was on the Colorado River and it was really bumpy. It wasn’t so enjoyable as lake skiing. And then of course, I bit it bad and got twisted up and the wind knocked out of me at the end so that wasn’t much fun. I’d do it again though but I’m not sure how my knee would take it. Maybe now that I’m in better shape it would be more fun!

Janie my sister has Turbo Jam workouts at the apartment so I’m sure we could do those, and I thought about taking Travel Fit. I hope we decide to all go to the gym and they have something reasonably priced for a week’s pass. ;) I have been using Retin-A and hydroquinone for 3 years now (Obagi system) and it really does a nice job on getting rid of fine lines and making the skin look radiant. I had a lot of hyperpigmentation (a mask) which is why I started using it. And yes, I should buy Retin-A in Mexico… it costs an arm and a leg here (the hydroquinone is worse though.) The redness and peeling will go away after a few months. And you should back off the amount you use after about 8-16 weeks (a skin cycle lasts 8.)

Those notebooks sound cool, and no I don’t think you got too extreme. Your shopping sprees are mild in comparison to mine *blush* I also didn’t remember the Pee Chee folders until you showed us pictures of them. Now I do!

Eunice I hope all is going well for you!

I am beginning to pack. We leave early tomorrow morning and there is still so much to do. I need to go to the bank, go to the doctor, and do some little running around. I think Sandra and I will go get pedicures. LOL That will be our treat before we go. Work has been hectic because one of our team wanted to get started on new growers for next year which meant I had to create a lot of reports for him and then contact each grower letting them know that we will be coming to visit in a month. That trip is creating a lot of work too. Logistics as well as contact info. Plus I have to have my facts and figures together for the meetings. I’m a little concerned about getting it done in time. Plus I have a new teammate who has been acting like my superior, and telling me to get all sorts of reports done on top of all of this. I’ve been running with my head cut off, accomplishing little, but fielding all sorts of questions (too many cooks in the kitchen.) Finally, I started reacting, slowing them down, and taking charge again, which left me with a tremendous amount of work to do but at least got me back into a more organized position. LOL – TMI, I know, but I suppose I’m just venting. Most of my team are brand new and they don’t understand what I do so that what they want isn’t appropriate, but I still feel like I have to help them along the way.

This will be my last check in before the trip and then I’ll check back maybe on the 2nd. Today I did Pyramid Upper Body without the abs (did those yesterday,) then added in some Turbo Kick and finished off with Stretch Max #1. That was a nice stretch. Have any of you checked out the new BMR and TDEE rates on the Workout Manager? Very cool. Once you put in your height and energy level in the settings it will show you. Though it did tell me that me TDEE is something like 2200 calories today and I’d think that if I actually ate those calories I’d gain. Who knows. Have a great week!

Shani Thanks for the advise, I think I should talk to her about all me regrets, but then I wouldn't have them:( I don't know I would've met my now DH, I was talking to my sisters once and say 'It took me too much and too long to have what I have right now" a good husband and en epanol (un esposo bueno y bien bueno)as a handsome and yummy DH:eek: my sisters and I were laughing and crying but that's something that I would not change for nothing in this world, so its kind of contradictory you know what I mean?!
You know today I took Stacy and Rachel for a physical I thought about your Sandra that she is 4'9 tall well Rachel is 57.4 tall DH say something like 4'9?! Maybe anyways Rachel its going to be so tall she was big even at birth 10 pounds !!! Brandy is taller then me, she is 5'6:confused:
We both like to cook ha? DH only like to eat, although he's pretty good cooking hamburgers yummy! that's the only thing he is allowed to cook :D
Oh yeah! all of my kick boxing DVDs are coming with me, I think they can pack my step, DH wants to give me hard time ! hahahha!!!

Sometimes when I'm working out I've to think if I want to work as hard as I can possible do, or go longer, I'm the type of person that if for some reason I couldn't finish all the reps, after I'm done with the whole workout I'll do extra sets, I don't know if that's only me or anyone else is the same. We have to work to the next level Shani!!! Come'on!:p:D
Shani you have the beautiful skin I have ever seen! (Other then my baby's skin when they are new born) JK:p but seriously your skin is so pretty...
Have fun at you vacation, don't worry to to much about the workouts, sometimes you need a workout break as well, and when you get back home you'll hit those dvd's with more power!!!!

Hover squats:eek: whew!!! rough!

Janie you and Shani are the same!!! I saw her doing that thing about calculating how many calories burned, how many calories to eat, I think that is so neat but I have no idea how to do mine with out the HRM.
Anyways your shopping spree looks pretty reasonable and inspiring, so you keep track of what you eat that's so good for you, I have tried to do that one before I've done it maybe for only a couple weeks but thats it, DH wants me to do it for longer period of time but sometimes I'm so busy that I forgot about it, something to work on ha!!
I like the name of your daly journal.
I should buy some of that Retinol-A at Mexico but I didn't know about it, I guess next time I'll go my first stop would be at the Pharmacy Hahaha!!
So sad that you cannot take the karate classes, Have you seen the new movie Karate kid?! sooo good! you should watch that movie, when you get out your gonna want to do karate so bad!!

Shani I'm with your friend on the afford things with all the kids, hopefully my eldest can get a job and that's going to help alot, the lawyer sound very promising, she say that it would take a couple of months if immigration accept the papers , lets cross fingers, PLEASE!!!
You are going to have alot of work, Good or bad??? the only thing I wouldn't like not even a little is having someone new telling me how to do my job or trying to bass at me, good for you that you got back to normal and taking charge again, your good Shani!!
Cheryl, Pam & You and your cats!! :p Thanks Shani looks like everything its starting to work, but then something, always something... you'll see why. I have to check the new BMR and TDEE rates on the Workout Manager, that's something that you buy to be able to use?!

Cheryl those Imax are something serious, doesn't?! but half its better then nothing besides that workout is a long workout:D
I'm the opposite of you and Pam I don't like unexpected guess, we don't hang out with our neighbors, maybe we are bad but not need:eek: we use to have a few friends before, but something happen because we haven't talk to them any more, her DH was gone, mine was at home, she like to hang out with a lot of others wifes, I don't see why? if we don't have the same point of interest, so for them I'm a crazy exerciser, and they love to eat junk food, I'm like you guys I don't crave those kind of food's so I try to avoid them:eek::confused: greasy food has lost it's appeal.
Cheryl I think you are 2 weeks ahead of us?

Pam how are you? Oh man it feels like I've been gone for ever! Yes we got my daughter's passport, it took for ever. I love a good sweat session after that I can do anything ha!!:p
How is your back doing? I hope it was something temporary and by now you are ready to hit the ski again of course all those jump that we get to have thanks to Cathe.:)
Yesterday I did HSC, those hover squats were so hard, I think the whole workout was specially hard for me because I did not had a good day the day before, so I dragged my self out of my warm bed to go workout, I wasn't feeling it, but I did finish maybe I cheat a little bit on those hover squats, and I took a 2-5 seconds break in between, but OMG that was hard.
I think I only going to be able to do 3 weeks rotation, since my house its going to start been pack on the 11th of August, its going to be crazy over here!!!! I'm not so looking for it!!!!!!

Pam I don't want to have that kind of character:confused:(wrinkles just kidding) I know, I know we all going to the same spot.
Cathe say just attempting do a levitation its enough to turn on the core, so lets keep attempting hahaha!!! Your DH its funny standing out in the middle of it and watching the storm, the day I left my mom's house they had this crazy thunderstorm, with lighting and raining, whew ! it was crazy when I spoke to her over the phone I over heard and I asked her if something fall of because it was so laud. I didn't know about hate storm.
I don't have the power max, so I did KPC, I know you don't like kickboxing but I love this kind of workout. Hooray for your treat! enjoy!!

Well let me tell you guys that Monday was a hard day, we went to San Bernardino to get my DD passport, and after that we drove to Palm Spring to the car dealer, before that we stop to get something to eat, right after we left this place on the stop light, I saw water, or smock coming from my car, Whatttttttt??? I started to freaked out, I had all of the girls with me, I didn't know what to do, so I called the Insurance they send a towing truck that it took over two hours to sent out, DH went straight to the dealership to pick us up, it was so hot that day, I got a horrible headache....
So I don't have a car until Friday or Saturday, when we bought the SUV DH got a warranty for 100.000 miles we almost hit that number driving across country I don't know how many times, so I told him before this warranty expires lets use it, just right on time my radio CD player broke, so that's why I was taking it to the Nissan dealer, but now they have to fix the Air Conditioner, that's all the smoke I saw it was coming from under the hood , and some other little details, I think so Ha! Good thing its cover under the warranty, the only thing is not its the remote control that it cost $175.00. so crazy ha!!!
Today I had two appointments for Rachel and Stacy the Pediatric decide to see them at the same time, good! so I don't have to go back this after noon.
This morning I did Kick/punch/crunch.... I don't have power max. Yesterday when I did HSC I got hurt doing those low pulse flies, my right shoulder its hurting:mad: I know I have tendinitis so its just bothering me. Last night I give my self a DEEP massage like the PT would give me and ice it, that hurts! so today its sore I've been taking motrin, I know I need it, if it was something light I wouldn't but I felt when I got hurt, and it was pain full. I hate when I got hurt doing flies or bench press, I know I have to concentrate every time I do this so I pay EXTRA attention to my form so I don't get hurt, but yesterday wasn't my day:(
So far everything goes fine I hope stay that way.
Have a good day everyone I hope you guys can understand everything I think I went overboard:eek::D I think I'm going to have to change my user name to the crazyone!!! Just kidding I like worseenemy;)
Happy Wednesday everyone!!!

Janie I remember those PeeChee folders. I used them when I went to school. You are so good in having a journal and keeping track of your calories in vs out. I try but I can only seem to keep up with it for a day or two and then I keep forgetting to write in it.
Too bad about the Karate classes. It is disappointing when you are looking forward to doing something new. Check back every once in a while they may change the times or put on more classes.

Pam I agree totally with you that those levitation holds are impossible. My feet stay firmly planted on the floor too :(
That's right I forgot that the hardcore extreme had some of the Imax 3 mixed in. Maybe I should try doing that instead. My back always feels stiff now but I find stretching really helps. I think air conditioning would be the only way to survive 100 degrees. I guess if the lake is shallow it would be just like a bathtub. Not something you want to be in when it is really hot out.

Shani OK so Gatineau is in Quebec but Ottawa is just across the river. Yes it does get hot and humid there 30 C is 90 F. The bus system seems to be quite good around there so the kids shouldn't have any problem in getting around.
I don't know if I could have sat still for that long without moving. Did you ever adopt any of the feral cats or did you eventually catch some of them so they could get into a good home? We don't have any feral cats around here but there are enough domestic ones that roam around. Enjoy your trip and forget about work. It is really hectic for you right now. That is so annoying that someone who is new bosses you around. I would not like that at all. I need to check out the new BMR and TDEE rates in Workout Manager. I saw them there but didn't look at it too closely.

Eunice Imax 3 really did me in. It was a bit too much jumping for me (man I am starting to sound old ) but I figured half was better that nothing. We talk to a lot of our neighbours here. Some afternoons we can be out for hours talking to everyone. Nothing gets accomplished but that is OK. I am on week three of the July rotation and I think you and Pam are on week 1?
You sure didn't have a good day on Monday. I guess that poor air conditioner just couldn't take the heat anymore either.... At least the warranty covered it.
Those low pulse flys get me too.

Today was suppose to be Step Max but since I didn't have that one I did Step Fit instead. I can't remember what workout is for tomorrow, I think it is one of the full body weights.

Have a great Thursday everyone.

Cheryl

Janie Wow, TBS and Imax! Be careful, we are going to start calling you Eunice! ;) If I didn't color my hair I would be completely gray. I'm just not ready for that! My mother is 80 and still colors her hair, so maybe I never will be :p I'm not sure I ever had a Pee Chee folder. I do remember having folders with the pockets inside, but they were different than what they are describing. I had the ones with the pockets at the bottom instead of the sides....

I used Retin A for awhile because I had problems with Mylasma on my face. I also had a couple of chemical peels done by my dermatoligst, but the cure was worse than the problem when I did that. There would be several days that I wouldn't want to go out of the house because my face looked so scary (looked almost like it was burned) and the results were not much different than when I started. I think Retin A is the milder and better approach! But the very best thing for me is to be very dilligent about sunscreen on my face and I wear hats as much as possible when I am in the sun. It makes me look strange because my body tans very quickly whether I am wearing sunscreen or not, so I have a white face and brown body. I've thought about some self tanners to try to make them match, but so far it seems like the ones I have tried just turn me orange.

Shani I know you probably won't see this until you get back, but I hope you have a fantastic time on your trip! It sounds like you really need the down time right now.

Wow you were really patient with those feral cats. There used to be a lot of them at our lake and every few weeks there would be a new batch of kittens. The kids of course always wanted to take one home, but they were not people cats at all. The woman who owns the trailer park finally had the SPCA come and collect them all. I keep thinking we need to invent a way to sterilize those wild cats with something in their food to keep them from just reproducing all the time :(

The ball for the trees are very cool! If I think of it this Christmas I'll send you some pictures of some around town here. DOn't tell your DH where you got the idea if you do get some though! :D

It's definitely not much fun skiing in bumpy water and a big crash can be cause for being shy about it too. My DSD was skiing pretty well a couple of years ago and then had a fall where she cut her head open and had to get staples. It was 2 years before she was skiing anywhere near as well again! It can be very addictive though!

I hope you were able to get your pedicures. My feet are in desperate need of one, but it seems like I can never find the time to go. Oh well. Sorry to hear about all the stress and craziness at work. We spend so much time working that we just don't need that kind of stuff! I hope things improve for you! I agree with Eunice that you shouldn't worry too much about the workouts while you are on vacation. You'll probably be getting a lot of exercise just walking around the city.

I haven't checked out the new BMR and TDEE tools yet, I'll have to do that.

Eunice It sounds like your DH is like mine! He used to like to help me cook, but now only does if I ask him to! He was so excited when I started doing the grill by myself too. Now he says I'm better than he is at grilling, but I think he just says that so I won't ask him to do it! ;)

It does seem like you've been gone forever, you have been so busy lately! I'm glad to hear that you got your daughters passport, I'm sure that is a relief. It's crazy that you were on your way to the car dealer when you had your car problems. I'm glad to hear that it isn't going to cost you TOO much to get it fixed. What is the remote for, the CD player? I am with you on the good weat session, it really helps to adjust your attitude!

My back is doing ok. I still feel it, but it isn't getting in the way of my doing anything. I just need to keep spending time on the stretches. It won't stop me from skiing - I skiied again the day that I did it  It is much improved from how it felt that day! THose hover squats in HSC are killers! The other high step workout has sit and stands which are just as hard! Wow, only 2 more weeks til they start packing your house?!!

I do attempt those levitations, but my feel are not interested in going anywhere!!! I just sit there pushing up on my arms and wondering how the heck she is doing that!

I understand why you got a headache on Monday. I hate car problems. I have been pretty lucky in that I have never really been stranded anywhere. I've had dead batteries a couple of times, but one of the times I was in a WalMart parking lot so I went in and bought a battery and they put it in. How are you getting along without a car this week? That would be hard for me!

Oh No! I can't believe you hurt your shoulder!!! That is terrible, take it easy! Especially since muscle max is today and there is a lot of chest and shoulder work in it.

Cheryl I tried keeping a food journal for awhile but it seemed like it backfired for me. I spent so much time thinking about food and waht I was eating that I ended up wanted to eat all the time!

Hardcore Extreme is not easy by any means, but it has some weight work mixed in between the intervals so that you don't feel like you are just jumping for an hour. It is nice having neighbors that you enjoy. We had some really crazy ones in our old neighborhood. One of the women we nicknamed Gladys Kravits (if anyone remembers Bewitched) because she would tell you what time everyone in the neighborhood came and went. I don't think she ever slept, just sat in her front window watching everyone. afternoons we can be out for hours talking to everyone. We feel very lucky to have the neighbors that we have now.

Hmmm...I'm not sure if I have Step Max either. It might be on the Classics DVD though - I guess I will have to look. I don't have Step Fit either, but it has been recommended!

Today was Muscle Max for me. I like this one because Cathe tells you how much weight she is using for everything AND gives you time to change them! I hope everyone is having a great Thursday. It's half over for me and then Friday here we come!

Pam

Plan on walking Rolly, of course. Then plan on doing HSC. With lots of modifications.

Shani, Every gym I found, has there own policies. When I was visiting our son, his gym didn't allow anyone who wasn't living there to use the gym without his son presents. Bummer for sure, but those things happen.

After 8 weeks of Retin-A how much do I have to back off? I always considered you kept up the routine forever. Wow. I'll have to go on line a do a better job researching this.

I'm confident that I'm doing what I'm suppose to do with it. 1. At night I wash my face with my homemade soap. 2. Wait 30 min. and put a pea size amount of Rentin-A on my face and rub in gently. I also put a pea size on my neck one on my chest and one on each hand and rub in gently. 3. The next morning wash it off with my soap, let dry and put on non oily (Aveeno) moisturizer. 4. Then I put on an 80 or higher sun block. I wait a day and start all over again. When ever I need more moisturizer I but that on again. Am I doing this right?

Good job on your workouts. Have fun traveling!

Eunice, I haven't recorded my calories like that for a very long time. But, I think I need to do it for awhile so I can be held responsible for me gaining weight over time.:( Though I could get away from it, but in reality, I can't.

I do plan on watch the Karate Kid. It sounds like a fun movie. I know I'll want to do Karate even more then. Maybe some day.

Car problems are just plain awful. So glad you called the insurance people and things turned out OK. It's always treadful when things like that happen. Sounds like you had such a strenuous and busy day. (((hugs to you))).

Please be careful with that shoulder. You are doing great to make it feel better. Hopefully your shoulder feel better soon.

Cheryl, How fun! I love Step Fit. Enjoy your Thursday. I'll keep checking the Karate classes ifor better timing on my part. Maybe, you never know.

Pam, LOL, wish I could workout as much as Eunice does! Heck, wish I could look like her.;)

With a journal, if I see a lot of calories going in and not much out, then, for me I do better the next few days. It helps me.

I've never once met a self tanner that works for me. How long did you use Rentin-A, and are you still using it? How did you apply it on your face? You know, what was your routine?

Please send pictures of ball in trees for all of us to see. It sounds so interesting.

What are BMR and TDEE tools? Are they for exercising?

I can almost do levitation. Almost. My fingers just aren't that strong yet.LOL

Great job on MM. I like that one too for the same reason.

How is your glass work going?

Janie
