Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for November 2021

I forgot to check in all weekend! Saturday I did a Powerstrike kickboxing workout, #4, I used 1 pound hand weights, 1 hour and burned 501 calories. I must say, that workout was a lot of fun, I have not done it in a long time. Today I went for a 4 mile walk in the hills, 1 hour 18 minutes and burned 556 calories. Tomorrow is my rest day, I have to go and get my car serviced in the morning and the rest of the day I want to do some food prepping.

Have a great Sunday evening.

This morning I did RAW Strength Day 1 - Back and Biceps and I had a great workout. Last time I did this was Sept. 2020. Damn, where doest the time go?

This is not a superset workout, you do the exercises one at a time doing 5 sets of 10 or 8 reps:

Back
One Arm Row:
25#/25#/30#/25#/30# - 5 sets/10 reps
Single Arm Reverse Fly: 12# for 1 set/15# for all others - 5 sets/10 reps
Frog Leg Lifts off Bench: (I did Pullovers- 15# - 10/10/8/8/7 reps

Biceps
Seated Alternate Hammer Curls
: 15's - 5 sets/8 reps
Preacher Curls: 12#/12#/15#/15#/15# - 5 set/8 reps (I actually did these and they still really hurt my elbows. I should have done something different. Hate this exercise)

Abs
Hip Lifts:
(I did knee-ups on my step) - 5 sets/10 reps

Workout was 45 minutes, burned 92 calories which is really weird because when I did it back in 2020 I burned 227 calories. Why such a difference? HR was 78/106. Didn't even break a sweat.

I don't have time for personals, I am extremely busy at work. It is so chaotic right now. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

This weekend I did Perfect 30 mobility - I've been feeling really tight. Then Sunday I did RAW Solo Strength and this morning RAW Box and Pump 4.

No workout. I finally got scheduled for an mri on friday. my husband will be off but tired after working all night. Then maybe I can get an idea what to do next. I just cannot sleep flat. My husband got me this Amazon.com: Adjustable Orthopedic Bed Wedge Pillow Set, Reading Pillow & Back Support Wedge Pillow for Sleeping, Memory Foam Wedge for Lower Back, Knee and Leg Pain, Acid Reflux, Snoring, Post Surgery Recovery : Health & Household Tonight should work better. I slept in the recliner last night. Every time try laying flat in bed I wake in lots of pain. I hope maybe to do some mobility or at least stretching and cardio soon. I feel stiff and tight from doing nothing. Tomorrow is ladies game day and one of them is going to pick me up. She lives 6 miles from me and we are doing a farewell for her as she will be moving to Texas since her husband got a job there. We will miss her as she does most of the work and her mother was the one who had started the game day group.

Debbie nice work with Back and Biceps this morning. Hope the day was not too chaotic.

Belinda, I hope the orthopedic surgeon visit went well.

Doreen, nice choices for your workouts. I need some mobility.

Hi,

My appointment went well today. The surgeon doesn't believe it has something to do with RP. Yeah! I need good news. She wants me to go back to physical therapy. I have another appointment with her beginning of next year to see how I am doing. She also wants me to gradually increase my weights to were I was. If I start hurting she wants me to back off again.

Roselyn - glad your mom is home.

Diane - sorry you are in so much pain. Your husband is a keeper. Hope you get some answers on Friday.

Debbie - great job on your workout.

good night.

Hi Everyone. Saturday was Afterburn. I made it through. I substituted a couple moves, but did it all. Can't do the plank walk with disks. No way on that one. Really liked it, though.
Sunday I had a lot going on so no workout.

Tonight I just did Michelle Briehler 40 min Dumbbell Superset Shred. I really like it. 2 rounds of 3 exercises for 12 reps. 2 weight and a cardio. She hit all muscle groups. She is really professional and gives good form pointers without being too chatty. The workout flew and my arms are fatigued.

Diane, glad you are getting an MRI. I never got the wedge pillow. Let me know what you think. I did get a lap Flipsy, its called, that I set my tablet on so I can keep my head level when I read. I love it.

Belinda glad you got good news at the ortho.

Doreen and Debbie, good workouts!

I am feeling pretty good lately, I still have a bit of pain in my tricep but nothing like it was. I have small knots here and there but my body buddy seems to work them out pretty good.

Today I did RAW Step Boxing and had a pretty good workout. It was fun and not to jumpy or intense. I used my 1# sand weights and worked up a good sweat.

Workout was 30 minutes, burned 171 calories, did 3237 steps and HR was 109-162.

Then I walked on my treadmill for 21 mintues, burned 117 calories, went 1 mile and did 2290 steps. HR was 106-121.

I really wish they'd stop changing the time here in Ohio, I am so tired even though we got an extra hour. My body takes forever to adjust to these changes. They keep talking about not doing it every year, yet every year we keep doing it.

Roselyn - So glad your mom is with you, I sure hope she recovers quickly being with you instead of the nursing home.

Diane - Glad to hear you have your MRI scheduled and I'm glad your husband can take you. I hope they don't make you wait two more weeks for the results. I checked out that link and those pillows look nice. Hopefully they will help you relax and get some sleep. Sad about your lady friend moving, that is always hard when a good friend moves away. My best friend lives in Michigan and I sure wish she lived closer. We'd have so much fun together if we lived near each other.

Belinda - What does your surgeon think is wrong with your shoulder then? Did she xray it? That is great news that you can try and workout again, just be careful. I'm sure you will!

Jolie - Great job with your Powerstrike workout! I used to do those, they are fun. I can't stand using my DVD player anymore, though, because it's a piece of crap. It frustrates me too much so I just gave up on DVD's. I may have to invest in a new one if they still make them. LOL!!

Doreen - Great job with the RAW workouts. The RAW Box & Pump workouts are all fun.

Cam - Great job with Afterburn!!

Have a great day everyone!!

I started a RAW cardio this morning (one with Katlyn) but wasn't feeling all the jumping they were doing and switched to CDoerner Intermediate step - great workout and fun music!

Today I started with a 2 mile walk uphill on the TM, 39 minutes and burned 301 calories. Next I did an upper body circuit workout I put together and I really liked it. Each set is times 12 reps and I did two rounds of each circuit. Workout was 1 hour and I burned 455 calories.

Circuit #1
Chest Press- 15's x 12 reps, 2 rounds of this circuit
Wide Grip Cable Pull downs- 50#
Seated Overhead Press- 12's
Bicep Curls DB- 12's
Lying Triceps Ext.- 10's
ABS- Bicycles x 28 reps

Circuit #2
Chest Flies with alternating legs in and out- 10's x 12 reps 2 times round
BB Rows Underhand Grip- 30#
Lateral Raise- 5's
Hammer Curls- 12's
Cable Triceps Pull Downs- 30#
ABS- Crunches x 24

I feel really good. This is the first time I am not in any sort of pain in a long time. I like a slow and controlled workout now so much better than faster weight workouts that try to get in as much exercises as possible in a certain amount of time. This just works for me right now. I feel really good and I am starving!!! I lost so much weight in the last 8 months my cloths are hanging on me and my Fit Bit is loose on my wrist. Now I just have to focus on firming up again after so much time off from lifting. I will go lite weights!

Debbie, great job on the RAW workout today. It is so weird how few calories you burn in a workout. I can burn that many just getting dressed to workout! I burn so many calories and you burn so few. I am glad that you are feeling great too, isn't this a first for us old girls!!!

Belinda, great news on your doctors appointment. Good luck with the PT, I am sure that helps a lot, it did for Debbie.

Doreen, way to go on the step workout, I am trying to find some beginner ones to try to see if I can get the hang of it.

Diane Sue, I hope that wedge pillow helped with your sleep last night. I am sorry one of your good friends is moving away, that is the pits. All of my good friends live so far away as well.

Roselyn, how is your mom liking living with you? I bet she is in heaven. Are you still working in the hair industry?

Cam, great job with the workouts, you are killing it!

I will walk a lot outside this week, after tomorrow it is supposed to be in the 80's all week!

Have a nice day.

Hi,

Today I did CL# 360 Pumped Up UB.

Debbie - I am very careful with my arm/shoulder. I am missing cartilage in my shoulder. She thinks it's from wear and tear. I will have to talk to my primary doctor about it. I am a little confused too. I do have another appointment scheduled for the beginning of January. We shall see. I also need to schedule physical therapy for next week. Can't wait to see what he has to say about all this.

Diane - sorry about your friend. It's always hard when close friends move away. How do you like the wedge pillow? Hope it helped.

Cam - thank you. I am happy with the news. Hopefully they are right. Great job today.

Roselyn - hope you have a great workout today.

Doreen - great job as always.

Good night.

Today I did Michelle Dozois More Cardio Interval Burn. I haven't done this one in a couple years. I forgot she has a modifier too, but I didn't think it was too jumpy. My body isn't used to longer cardio workouts. I was pretty winded in parts. I forgot how much I like her Interval Burn workouts. Her Cardio Remix is my fave.

It's been one year today that I passed out and crashed and burned in the shower from my neck pain. My nerves were so inflamed. I remember rinsing my hair and blacked out. I came to when my husband was dragging me out if the shower. That was the worst pain of my life. What a difference in a year.

Jolie, quite a workout you did! Glad you are feeling good. I feel the same as you about lifting slower and controlled. I am scared of a setback, so I am slowing down. I have watched some clips on YT of Erin Stern demonstrating lifting form. She has given me some great tips about lifting slower and having good form. I don't try to keep pace with Cathe and others these days. I go at my own oace and I am seeing a difference.

Doreen, I like CDoerner step. Good workout!

Debbie, I agree! I hate time change. Glad you are feeling better too. Good workout today.

So glad everyone is feeling good today and had an enjoyable workout.

Today was another rest day. I slept well with the new wedge set. No neck pain and the shoulder pain was not real bad when I got up. It didn't wake me up hurting. I did wake up once and slid the leg wedge closer to me as I was sliding down on the wedge a bit. The instructions suggest you use the leg wedge to keep from sliding. It worked fine that way. Also I covered the wedges that I used for height with twin fitted sheet. There are different ways to use the different pieces and a booklet with suggestions. It hurts this evening which seems to happen every day as I go through the day though. I can't keep from using the right arm once in awhile.
Maybe I can figure something I can do to get moving a bit tomorrow. I feel like I need it.

Belinda, that is good news that the surgeon thinks that it is not rp related. I find it interesting that the surgeon says to work your way back up on the weights. That is good news. How is your pain now? Maybe the surgeon thinks the strength training will help support the support what is there in the joint? I am curious too about wear and tear and doing more work. Maybe more recovery time between work outs? I guess PT will give you some feedback.

Cam, nice work with Afterburn. I remember those plank walks. That is a good workout though. I really liked the wedge pillow set. I used the neck pillow and it was nice that I could adjust how high of an angle I wanted it to be. It was comfortable. My husband chose that particular set as he had read reviews and wanted to get one that there were not complaints of it being too firm. I have a laptop desk that raises to different heights and angles that I can use seated on the couch, bed etc.. Most of the time I have it on the counter so I either have the laptop at a height that I can keep my neck straight while looking at it. I use a separate keyboard underneath it so I don't have to reach up that high though. I also use it for reading so it will hold the book or tablet up so I can look straight on and neck straight. If I have to look down for any length of time, even short it makes my neck start hurting.

Debbie, nice work with Raw Step Boxing. I am anxious to do some of those new workouts that she has up.
I keep finding clocks that I need to reset the time on. My husband got up really early yesterday and it was because he was looking at the alarm clock and it does not auto change for time changes. It always confuses things for awhile when the time changes.

Doreen, I am glad the CDorner workouts was a fun one for you. It is hard to push through a workout that we are not feeling.

Jolie, I am glad that you are feeling really good today. Nice work on the Treadmill walk and weight circuits. You should try some of CDorner basic step workouts.

Today I did RAW Strength Day 2 - Chest & Triceps. I had a great workout and added in some pushups. I think I need to warm up a bit longer or harder because my HR was not high at all. Either that, or my FB is just $^cked. Wait until you see my calorie burn for today.

5 sets of each exercise:

Chest
Incline Dumbbell Flies:
20's - 5 sets/10 reps
Flat Dumbbell Press: 25's - 5 sets/8 reps
Added: Incline Pushups: 2 sets 10 reps

Triceps
Single Arm Kickbacks:
8# - 5 sets/10 reps
Seated Overhead Single Arm Extensions: 8# - 3 sets then 20# for 2 sets of double arm overhead ext.

Ab work on the bench - 5 sets/10 reps each exercise

Workout was 39 minutes, burned 69 calories - how is that even possible, I didn't even hit any minutes of zone burns today. HR was 77/127.

I really do think I need to do some kind of warmup on my treadmill for about 5 minutes, just to get my HR going and my blood flowing. Kelly dones't do anything for a warmup except 8 pushups. What is that going to do? But in past times that I've done this workout I don't see that I did a separate warmup. I burned 227 calories last time I did this one. WTF???

Tomorrow I'm going to do the Shoulder and Leg one and I will warmup on my treadmill and see if that makes a difference.

Doreen - Good job on your workout.

Jolie - Those calorie burns I am getting cannot be right. I also burn more calories getting dressed in the mornings. I'm going to try a treadmill warmup tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. Time is such an issue for me, though, it's hard to get in an hour workout when I have to go to work. Nice job with your workout, you kicked some butt.

Belinda - Great job with your CL workout yesterday!

Roselyn - Are you still doing the Epic workouts or workouts from Caroline?

Cam - OMG! That is so scary what you went through!! So glad you are doing so well now. I passed out from low back pain one time years ago. The pain was so bad I just hit the floor. Terrible time for me, that pain lasted for months and months. Haven't had pain like that in my low back since. Good job with your workout!!

Diane - I'm glad the wedge pillow helped you. Did you put it on your bed or are you using it on the floor? At least your were comfortable enough to sleep. I have a hard time staying on my back and I have a wedge pillow. I try to stay on my back but it starts to get so uncomfortable. I always end up on my right side.

Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning - I did RAW Burnout Lower body this morning. To make it shorter I skipped the front/side lunges and finished up with bridges. Kelly's workouts always are a conundrum to me - on the one hand they feel too easy but then sometimes they are just like - um- hard.

Today the weather is beautiful, it will be in the 80's for the rest of the week, so this girl will do some serious outdoor walking. Today I walked for 1 hour 18 minutes and burned 722 calories, traveled 4.1 miles and walked through the hills. Heart rate was 149 to 184 max. I lost some of my stamina while being off for 3 weeks so I will have to be patient to get it back over the next few weeks. My traps are sore today, it must be from the lateral raises I did yesterday.

Debbie, there is NO way that was your actual calorie burn, I usually do that kind of burn in 10 minutes of walking! Nice job on the workout today. I love to warm up on the TM, it gets the blood pumping and I feel more like picking up a weight after some exercise.

Diane Sue, I am so happy that the wedge pillow helped you sleep! Thank goodness you got some sort of relief. Do you have Frozen Shoulder? When my husband had that he went through the same thing with laying down and the pain.

Cam, I love Michelle's workouts but darn they can be tuff stuff! I like lifting really slow and I can actually use lighter weights and get a better workout. No more injuries for this girl!!!

Doreen, great job on the workout today! I know what you mean with it sometimes being too easy but too hard at the same time :)

Roselyn, way to go getting a workout in with you being so busy and all with your mom.

Make it a great day!

Hi,

Today is my DH's birthday. I been cooking all day long. He wanted a Dreena’s Burton No-fu Love Loaf. I was surprised how tasty it was.

I did in-between CL# 367 Cardio Kickboxing & core.

I will catch up tomorrow. Good night.
