Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for March 2020

My kids are now off school until April 17th... My son will have testing, etc when he gets back for all his AP tests which will be really difficult. Such a tough rap for all the kids but its going to be really bad for a lot of workers who rely on foot traffic for their business and that just isn't happening! My kid's College plans lost $8k since last December. I don't look at them that closely though.

This morning I did a 60 minute step class from the GymBox. I should have FF through the first 5 mintues because she had like at 10 minutes warm up which was boring.

Hi everyone,

I did SBF upper body plus posture stretching. It was a short workout. I also walked a little. My knees are not linking anything these day's. I am trying to avoid getting the shots in my knees, I am afraid with the virus going around I get infected going to the clinic on base. Although they taking recauitions/streaming for the virus. The reason I am a little worried is I had very bad case of respiratory problems in Jan/Feb.

Good Evening,

My aunt passed away Monday and we have to limit funeral attendance to 50 people which sucks and all our schools have closed for the rest of the school year, they are trying to set up on line classes. We don’t wear masks because we can’t get any but we wipe everything down with Clorox wipes several times a day. It amazes me how many people we have coming into the pharmacy even though all the doctors are only seeing acute patient.

Doreen, this is hard for a lot of people. I worry about my children and their jobs and families. Work places are trying their best to work around this. It is wild how everything seemed to be moving along well and then something like a virus turns everything upside down. I miss running out to the store and stuff. My youngest daughter was lamenting everything where there is fun activity is closed and so they are stuck sitting around home on Spring break. Yesterday she was checking out a nature park to see if it was still open so she could at least let the children run around an play on the equipment. I am not sure if that is a good idea or not as far as distancing. It is hard not to worry. But then people tend to look for the worst and it usually does not happen.
Roselyn, sitting around not knowing the results is terrible. I hope they get those results sooner than you think. I guess there is an incubation period when they do some of those tests.

Belinda, I am so sorry you are having so much trouble with your knees. I don't blame you for wanting to avoid the military doctors right now with this virus going around. My daughter worries about me because of the RA and all of my allergies and stuff. Thinks I should stay away from every one. I guess I get it. I really do not want to be sick. Been fighting the allergies big time this year as I don't want to scar people with my non stop coughing. Right now I have finally started taking Zertec and Flonase. I hate that stuff as it makes me feel crappy and intensifies the dry mouth which I think sets off more coughing at night. I usually just use B pollen, supplements, and bee propolis throat spray, but those do not work for cedar pollen. My doctor says she doesn't know what else to do for me. Last time I went in the coughing was so bad I was afraid I was getting a bad sinus infection like last year. She ended up only giving me a steroid injection and sent me home. Mentioned maybe trying Singulair and told me to see what my daughter thought. She is a good friend of my daughter's best friend. Anyway I looked it up and thought no way, and asked my daughter and she said they are finding some problems with that like it causing psychosis in some people. I think I will stay away. I guess they have used it for allergies, but it is meant for something else.
Thanks for the links to all of those workouts that are free streaming. I did the Les Mills for a month once
before. For someone that has not done the Les Mills Pump, it would be a good way to check it out. The music is good, but I like it better on the dvds myself. They had just put on some great spin bike workouts with cool graphics that you could watch and it would be like you were riding your bike over and through all kinds of colorful places and through the air, up and down hills and jumps. I found those fun. I was tempted just for those the last time, but then didn't go ahead and sign up. You know I get bored and need a different instructor once in awhile. Plus if I remember right it is 14.99 per month if you keep it.

Roxie, I am sorry that they are having to limit who can come to the funeral. Sorry that your aunt passed away. That is amazing that you do not have masks. I did hear that the ones most people are getting won't help much. The best you can do is stay distance and keep things cleaned where hands touch. I guess maybe people are afraid pharmacies will close and they won't get there prescriptions? Don't they realize most pharmacies can mail them their prescriptions instead of hanging around in a pharmacy.

I am not liking working at home at all and our superintendent just told us in an email to just plan on working like this until the end of the school year. Great. It so scary how one virus can shut down the world. Crazy.

Today I did RAW 7 Strong and loved it. I kept adding weights as I went along because I felt I could. Still have a bit of a problem with the top of my right shoulder, right on top. It hurts when it is in certain positions. I don't know what it is. When I press on it, I don't feel anything. No pain or tightness. I'm wondering if my shoulder is misaligned?

Anyways, here is how the workout went:

7 exercises, 7 times through for 7 reps

One Arm Row: used 15# until 4th set, then went up to 20#
Power Curl & Press: used 12's until 3rd set, then went up to 15's
Squats: used 12's until 3rd set, then went up to 15's
Suitcase Deads: used 12's until 3rd set, then went up to 15's
Bench Press: used 15's until 2nd set, then went up to 20's
Weighted Dips: used 20# BB until 5th set, then did Lying Triceps Extensions
Hip Thrusts: used 20# BB until 5th set, then did Close Grip Presses

The last two exercises were really bothering my traps and I don't need that again so I switched and did different exercises. This was really challenging, I loved it.

Workout was 50 minutes (42 min. but I wrote stuff down), burned 337 calories, and HR was 132/172.

Have great workouts everyone! Gotta get to work.

Debbie- I don't really like working from home either. They are letting us sign up to come into the office- only 25 at a time to maintain social distancing. I'm in the office today and then we will see about next week.

This morning I started a bootcamp workout on the Pelton app by Andy Speer. It was treadmill and weights. I did one section on the treadmill and then weights and then I did the next section of sprints on my bike. I haven't run in ages and didn't want to overdo and end up with problems with knees or ankles or feet or something. Then I stopped and switched to Cathe's Live she posted yesterday. So impressed she did that by herself with out any class there!!

My impression of the Pelton app is that they are more geared toward cardio workouts, treadmill or cycle. Most of the strength workouts are 30 min or less and the 3 I've done I have not been super impressed with. Andy today spent so much time explaining form that the heart rate completely drops. And he was explaining how to get into position in so much detail that I didn't even know what move he was going to do to even just get started or pick a weight to use. That's when I quit and switched to Cathe's workout. I really do appreciate Cathe and Kelly and how time efficient they keep their workouts moving!!

Today will be my 2nd rest day for the week. They closed my husbands work so now everyone is at home :( However, he and his boss are trying to figure out how to go back into the office and work. He has customers calling him like crazy wanting to buy work trucks so that's good. I slept 11.5 hours last night! My workouts are making me sleep so good, but I have hot flashes again :( When will they end!?

Debbie, nice job on the workout. I am glad that you could add more weight as the workout went along, that is fantastic. I love working from home, I did for 20 years but I traveled the United States as well so I wasn't home all of the time. Home office work is my favorite. I think I am just used to it. One thing you can do is create a conference call with all of your co workers and have a group call once a day to keep up with each other and what is going on at work.

Doreen, that is great that you get to go into the office even though they are limiting the amount of people. I am going to check out what is going on at Beach Body and see if I want to sign up for the 2 weeks free trial.

Diane Sue, I think you should be really careful too, stay at home and enjoy yourself. I have a whole shipment of vitamins coming from Swanson's today, I got a ton of Vit C, Colloidal Silver and protein powder since eggs are no where to be found. They are opening the grocery stores to just seniors first thing in the morning here so they can get their supplies first and then there wont be a lot of people in the store at the same time.

Roselyn, stay healthy and great job on the workout.

Belinda, bummer on the knee issue. Mine are doing so much better know that I got my legs adjusted. That is what was causing my knee pain, my leg and ankle were out of alignment. If your Femur or Fibula or any other bone is out, it cause extreme knee pain and swelling. I would look into that before getting shots in your knees. No Doctor is going to tell you about Chiropractic, look into yourself. Or, look for a sports therapist. Hang in there :)

I think I may for a really long walk today, by myself and get some fresh air. Where I live no one is out and it would be fine to walk the hills or the beach.

Make it a great day!

Today I did Coffey Fit Raw Step 2, 42 minutes, 201 calories, heart rate 120/169, 4,018 steps. I finished with Jessica Smith Gentle Yoga Total Body, 23 minutes, 20 calories, heart rate 75/94, 30 steps. Total time was 65 minutes, 221 calories, 4,058 steps. I am tired this morning. Not adjusting well to my husband working all night and trying to get household tasks done. I was up till 2 am vacuuming and cleaning. Then I woke up fairly early. Dragging through the workout. Once I finished the cardio I was done, but shoulders and neck are bothering me this morning so I really wanted to get a stretch in. My wrists have been bothering me since I started doing the Walk Strong 3 workouts. No real idea why other than maybe the things like plank work done on the hands. Yesterday I modified the push ups. Amazon has refunded another item that I ordered. First they said shipped and arriving Sunday, now in route, they are saying undeliverable and refund issued. It was flushable wipes (for men LOL) Not feeling real bad about it though as I was sort of hating that I spent so much for them. I just ran across them when I was looking at the Cottonelle and other brands and was trying to find toilet paper. Now they say my toilet paper I ordered has shipped to arrive Sunday. We will see how that goes.
So many people are out of work right now or just not working because of temporary closures. That is worrisome. I hear Walmart and Amazon are hiring to compensate for stocking and deliveries. Amazon is prioritizing shipments to get out necessities for people faster, over non necessities.
My daughter and her family are on vacation. She told me this morning the shut down the beach where they are staying so they are headed home tomorrow. I heard they were doing that in Florida so not real surprised. She sent pictures and it was not a crowded beach. She said they were all practicing social distancing.

Debbie, I really liked the Power 7 workout. When I did it I at first went lighter to do the power curl and press. Later into it I went heavier and just did squat and curl without a press. That was the only move I was worried about. My shoulder issue is in the front of my right shoulder and it hurts when I do push ups, bench press, and flies. Good subs for the dips and hip thrusts. Close grip bench press has caused pain in the front of my shoulders if I go too heavy. I really was surprised that I was fine the next day after doing that workout though.

Doreen, it sounds like Peloton are not really into strength. That would be frustrating waiting for the instructor to quit talking.

Belinda, glad you were able to do the Low Impact workout today.

Jolie, I am so sorry they closed your husbands work too. That is good that customers are still needing to buy. Hopefully he can get back into the office to arrange that. I have been taking lots of C and B vitamins. I replenished most of my supplements that I let run out. I need to get some more astragalus. It is supposed to be good for immunity. Taking Garden of Life Collagen that has cats claw, probiotics, and things like boswellia in it. Also a Garden of life collagen drink for skin that has probiotics and other good stuff in it. Someone on a facebook check in said their pharmacist recommended astragalus to help with immunity. I ran out of the Four Sigmatic Matcha Green tea powder in the green tin. I love that stuff and it has lions mane, ginger and astragalus in it. I fix it with some macadamia milk like a matcha latte. I guess they are not closing down your beaches there yet? Have a nice walk today. I always worried a bit when the PT worked and pulled and turned my neck with it is like it is. I kept thinking they might make things worse, but they didn't.

Today I had to get outside since it is sunny and beautiful. My son and I went on a walk at the beach, 1 hour walking in the sand and I burned 528 calories!!!! Yeah! I am getting sick, not the Corona virus, a head cold. I am sneezing and my nose is congested, darn it. I haven't slept well the last two nights, I have hot flashes again and it is killing my sleep. It was 53 degrees last night, I slept with the windows wide open with 2 fans on and I was dripping. When will it end?!

My husband and his company found a loop hole in this quarantine mess and got to go back to work. Only management can work so that is incredible. I am not sure how long that will last though, the virus is spreading so quickly. I believe we should do everything we can to help stimulate the economy or we will be in for a world of hurt in a month. At least we have till July 15th to do our taxes :)

Here is a tip, something you can take for lung support, to help use with a raspatory virus. Take N-A-C which is N-Acetyl-L-Cystine. Also, take Olive Leaf Extract which can help with viral sickness.

My neighbored died last night, two houses down, I wonder if it was the Corona Virus? My neighbor saw him being wheeled out on a Gurnee with a sheet over him at 2am! WTF

I hope everyone is staying healthy. BBL to read your posts for the day. I am off to my deck to sit in the sun and read, it must be 70 degrees here today and sunny.

Hi everyone,

Today I did the Cathe 289 TB Blast. I had to modify all the high impact cardio.

Roxie - sorry for your loss ((HUGS))

Julie - holy crap about your neighbor. So sorry to hear this. I am happy for your husband finding a loop hole. Yeah! What is and where can I find.. N-A-C which is N-Acetyl-L-Cystine. Also, take Olive Leaf Extract? I live in a small town.

Stay safe and healthy. I will be back tomorrow

So amazing how much we take for granted all of our freedoms. I hope everyone learns what freedom means to us and how blessed we have been. Worried about my daughter and her family. Glad I am not traveling. The beach closed and they are on their way back . She says using restrooms is tough as food is drive through. They have to find gas stations with bathrooms. I swear I would do the off the side of the road if I had to. She says has to be under a quarantine when she gets back before going to work since she is coming back from out of state vacation for spring break. Also when she goes back to work there are not masks to protect her, but she will be wearing one to protect her patients from her. They are having people make masks for the hospitals and have put out a pattern that we can get online. It is sad that this has happened. I feel bad when I hear medical staff has picked up the virus.

Jolie, was that neighbor older? I hope that you stay well. You need rest to fight off the cold. Glad that you had such a nice walk. I am surprised that you can still go to the beach since so many are closing. We just had a freeze after 70 degree temps. It is warming back up today. Glad that your husband and his boss found a loop hole. It seems things would be done to keep business going as much as possible.

Belinda, you can get NAC and olive leaf on Amazon or at Sprouts. Probably natural grocers and Whole Foods would carry it. Nice work. I have done so much better modifying lately for the high impact.

I did CL 162 Get stepping this morning and then checked out a TRX dvd I've had laying around forever. There are two workouts- boring. But there is a good video index of demos of lots of TRX exercises that could be useful. I only paid $2,99 at the thrifts so no big deal.

Today was a rest day. I have been so sleepy all day. I just did stretching. I did Raw Stretch from the 5 day strength workouts and Jessica Smith Gentle Yoga neck and shoulders. I was so sore all over today. I guess those two weight workouts yesterday did more than I expected.

Doreen, I have some nice sets of workouts for the TRX. One uses a kettlebell and TRX and is a circuit training workout. They came with the books and everything. I just can't talk my husband into putting up my X mount in the ceiling so I can do them. The last house he tried but couldn't find a stud in the ceiling and wanted it secure. It was a really old house that still had lathe and plaster walls on much of it. This one, he thinks I might break myself LOL. When I had it hung before in one of our homes, my husband was out of country, it was a new home, and my son did it for me. Amazing some of the things you can do with it. Even yoga which really takes a lot of balance when you have a foot hooked into it. I think I paid around 40 or 50 dollars for each one.
They are actual workouts. I have a couple that I paid for downloads and put on a disc that always annoyed me because they spend too much time talking about form and you don't really have a work along rep count or anything.

Belinda, sorry you could not find those supplements. It seems everything that I look for is gone. I ordered Advil because I am almost out from Amazon. People have bought all the cough meds and fever reducers just in case they git sick. I only have four left and Amazon keeps moving the date to later than when it was supposed to arrive. Today they are saying it will be the 27. That is the only thing that seems to help when I am really inflamed and have a lot of pain. It helps me sleep, when I otherwise would not be able to. Also heard that the CDC or some officials were saying they would make sure that there is enough hydroxychloraquine for people that really need it. I told my husband when I first heard this that I was a bit worried that I would not be able to refill my prescription when needed for my Rheumatoid arthritis because they are using it to treat people with that virus. Keep looking, sometime they are bound to show back up on the store shelves. Do you have access to any nutrition shops there? Maybe GNC or Vitamin Shoppe?

Today I did Cardio Coach #3 and had an excellent - actually a puke status workout!! I haven't done this workout since October of 2018 when I hurt my hamstring!!! I was sweating like crazy and really had a great workout.

Workout was 40 minutes, burned 325 calories, went 2.65 miles and did 5500 steps. HR was 140/182.

So far we are surviving this virus. I am worried, though, because my DH is still going into work. Our governor has placed an order for us not to leave our house until April 6 if possible. We are aloud to leave for food, take care of our aging parents and neighbors, go outside but stay away from people and do banking and the necessities. This will start tonight at midnight. I wish my DH wouldn't have to go to work. He works for a senior living and Alzheimer's place, he is the maintenance director. I hope his boss announces they don't have to stay there or maybe work in shifts where everyone isn't there all at once.

Hope you are all doing well. Roselyn, wht is the word? Have you heard from your doctor yet?

Stay healthy everyone!

So Daily Burn is offering 30 days free for their app too. So I signed up and did a 20 minute Strength workout and then a 30 Spartan workout. The Spartan workout was kinda silly and kinda fun at the same time. Its supposed to prep you for a spartan race so we ended by hanging (on my pull up bar) for the last 2 minutes! I may check out the rest of the spartan workouts just to see what else they have you do.

We went to the grocery store last night and everything was gone - no eggs, rice, pasta, bread. We were able to get milk and some lettuce and other produce.

Good morning,

I started M2 D13 today. Had a great workout. Loved the longer breaks. I probably will go for a walk later today.

Debbie - I do worry too. My husband is still going into work too. I went grocery shopping yesterday, the shelves were empty. I started to panic what is available. Wegmans limit one pack of meat per customer. What is a family of 4 or more suppose to eat? They also limit only 1 small can of beans, 1 box of noodles a.s.o per customer. I have never seen grocery stores with so many empty shelves. The produce was stocked well. i was happy for that. This is scary :( The Wegmann's grocery store is almost 45 min from my house.

Diane - my doctor is very good. I did got an MRI and Xtrays done on my knees. It is what it is. With all the people stockpiling everything it will take me awhile to find anything. I was excused after my 2 grocery runs.

I will be back later.
