Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for February 2020!!

Quick check in as I have to leave and get my grandson in a bit. I did Jessica Smith Walk Strong and Have Fun: Have a Ball, 33 minutes, 159 calories, heart 123/153, 2,860 steps followed by Walk Strong Have Fun Ready Steady Go, 33 minutes, 171 calories, heart rate 129/170 3,296 steps. I finished with JS Gentle Yoga chest and back, 18 calories, 21 minutes, 10 steps, heart rate 77/94. Total time 87 minutes, 348 calories, 6,166 steps.

Today I just walked on my treadmill again. One more morning I was feeling pretty good and didn't want to chance hurting my upper back again. Had a pretty good workout. I really wanted to do a Max Trainer workout but thought the fast up and down movement of my arms would not be a good thing.

Workout was 50 minutes, burned 318 calories, went 2.5 miles, did 5903 steps and HR was 116/152.

Diane - I'm sorry to hear you are still in pain, it is so frustrating. I feel like I'm losing all my muscle I worked HARD to get for this stupid problem that just won't go away. I know how you feel, believe me. It's ridiculous.

Have a great Friday everyone! Happy Valentine's Day!

Today I had a great workout! I did Strong and Sweaty, Ramped Up Upper Body again, but I chose to do the Push Pull Premix and it was so good! This is a shorter workout, 45 minutes, but don't let that fool you thinking it will be easy! It took me 50 minutes because I had to pause a few times to prepare for the next exercise and to squeeze in a rest :) I burned 406 calories :) There is the nicest stretch at the end of this workout, I love when she incorporates the stretches. Average heart rate was 117 and max was 166. I might continue to do these premixes next week along with alternating cardio days on my TM and Elliptical. I still want to get a rowing machine, I will check them out this weekend. I am looking to see if I can buy a used one online.

Debbie, nice walk today, I am so sorry this recovery is taking so long. I am going back to slower workouts, higher weight, I didn't get hurt as much as the fast workouts. I like to take my time and focus on form, not quantity. I will not be lifting really heavy, just heavier than the fast moving workouts.

Doreen, great job on the workout today!

Belinda, hope you have fun with your DD today! I have never taken a reformer class, I would love to try it!

Diane Sue, I hope you have a great workout today. I am making my husband Blueberry and lemon muffins with a lemon glaze for Valentines Day. I am using some really healthy ingredients that I got from Sprouts, I hope they turn out good! I will use yogurt instead of butter and oil.

Roselyn, I hope you have a great workout today.

Happy Valentines Day. I am off to get my hair highlighted, l look a little scary right now! I love to get my color done, i feel like a new person. Hope you all have a great day with your loved ones.

So I tried a workout from the Jillian Michael's app today. It's a brilliant app. Your music plays and the voiceover announces when you have 10 seconds left and what the next exercise is and maybe a couple form pointers. I swapped out high impact for low impact. Negatives are the exercises are only 25 seconds... And the workout is only 27 minutes so it felt very rushed and no time to switch equipment.

So then I followed with an Instagram workout to add on and make my morning about 50 minutes.

Still hurting. I did Jessica Smith Step and Stride from Walk Strong and Have Fun , 30 minutes, 158 calories, heart rate 124 average, 155 max, 3,432 steps followed by Raw 5 day Strength day 5 stretch, 36 minutes, 37 calories, 70 steps. Total time 66 minutes, 195 calories, 3,502 steps.

Debbie, I know I have lost some muscle. It has been off and on being able to work with the weights and I am thinking I will never be able to lift like I did. That knot was in my left side below the shoulder and neck last night and the last couple of days my neck just snaps and cracks with every movement. I use these Jessica Smith workouts because they have been doable without causing me pain and at least I get some steps and cardio in. I skipped two days of workouts this week. Not moving doesn't help either. I need some movement to keep the sygnovial fluid moving in my joints. I was afraid to pick up weights today, otherwise I would have done lower. In the past I have found just lifting heavy things could set off pain,

Jolie, some equipment stores sell used and refurbished fitness equipment. It seems finding a used one would not be too hard since so many people do not end up using thier equipment. Nice work on the upper body. I don't remember the stretch on that one.

Doreen, too bad the workout felt rushed. Nice that you could do it at what level you wanted to.

Roselyn, nice work with shoulders

Hi to Belinda

Hi,

Sorry for not checking in yesterday. Had a busy day yesterday.

Yesterday I did SBF Feel Good TB Tabata. Today I did Jessica Smith Walk Strong Cardio Party. Played my own music and muted her off :) Had a great workout.

Jolie - I did had a lot of time with DD. Got my hair done Thursday. Friday was a half work day. Got a lot done. If you like pilates I would highly recommend trying a reformer class. Most studios let you take a free intro class which explains how to use the reformer and how to set you resistance. My intro class wasn't for beginners. The girl had us put a small ball under your butt with doing leg exercises with the props. The instructor my DD likes a lot she is very good. The class flowed from one exercise to the next. My core is still sore from Friday. Haven't done Push Pull premix in years. I really need to pull out my dvd's and play with them. Nicely done, girl.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Good morning,

I doing another round of 3.5 STS rotation. I will be done the day my sister and my BIL are coming. Perfect timing :) I am going to go lighter on leg day. See how that works out? We shall see! I will throw in different cardio workouts from different Cathe series.

STS D1 is done.

Have a great day and workout, everyone.

Good Idea Belinda - I haven't done STS in ages - well to be honest I haven't followed any program in ages!! You do so well with keeping to a program!

I'm checking out another app this week with the 7 day free trial. (Jillian app was way to hurried of a workout and I can't change the exercise intervals to be more like 40-45 seconds so I scrapped that one). This is Alexia Clark. I did a month of her program 2 years ago and she has some great workouts. Now she has an iphone app with a built in timer. So I have to use my husband's old Iphone to get it downloaded and tested it out yesterday and today. Today was 3 circuits of upper body and then an upper body burnout. Took me about 45 minutes.

Today I did my own Chest and Triceps workout. I am going to be doing my own thing this week, lifting heavier and doing cardio on the opposite days of lifting. Workout was 40 minutes, 1 minute break between sets and I burned 219 calories. Next, I walked on my TM because I had time! I walked for 30 minutes 6.5 incline, 3.3 speed, traveled 1.65 miles and burned 294 calories. Total workout time was 70 minutes and I burned 513 calories. I feel great!

Warm up Chest Press- 15's x 12, x 12
Chest Press- 25's x 12, x 10, x 8
Chest Flies- 17's x 12, x 10, x 8
Incline Chest Flies- 22's x 12, x 10, x 8
Incline Chest Flies- 17's x 12, x 10, x 8

Lying Triceps Ext.- 14's x 12, x 10, x 10
Lying Cross Body Ext.- 14's x 12, x 10, x 8
1 Arm Kickbacks- 12# x 12, x 10, x 8

I have to say i like the speed of this workout and the rests in between each set. I am thinking about doing STS again, like Belinda and wanted to see if i like working out like this again. 3 and 4 Day splits are my favorite way to lift.

Belinda, great job on meso 1 STS, did you enjoy it? I am so glad you had a great weekend with you DD.

Doreen, Alexia Clark is awesome, I follow her on Instagram!!! She looks amazing!!

Roselyn, great workout the other day! I love STS too! We should all do the rotation together!

BBL to read your posts, and have wonderful day.

Jolie - do STS with me :) That would be fun doing it together. Do a week and see if you still like it. Great job with your weight workout today. Looks amazing.

Roselyn - I love STS too. One of my favorite Cathe programs. Nice job on your leg workout today.

Doreen - thank you for your kind words. I love following program programs. Take the guess out of things. Have fun checking out the other app.

Diane - how are you doing today?

Waving Hi to everyone that checks in today.

Walked on my treadmill today, feeling pretty good today. I walked about 45 minutes and got a good calorie burn.

I am watching "Forks over Knives" and I recommend every one of you watch this documentary. OMG. It's stuff I have already known, but to hear the statistics, results, etc., it is mind boggling. I do eat a mostly plant based diet, but not 100%. I am purchasing a Plant Based recipe book and will try to get my husband to eat this way as well. Amazing!! Please promise me, everyone, that you will watch this. It is on Prime and Netflix. It is only an hour and half and worth every minute.

I'll be back for personals later. Have a great day!!

Debbie - I used to be a vegetarian for years. I also eat a plant based diet a few times a week. I am not 100% eating only plant based food. I would like to eat plant based food daily but know my husband will not go for it. Which plant base book did you purchase? There a ton of free plant base/vegan groups with yummy recipes on FB. We have a Vegan restaurant in town. The owner said after watching "Forks over Knives" both went vegan the next day.

Belinda - I haven't ordered the recipe book yet, and I actually might not. I went to forksoverknives.com and they have tons of recipes. I will start there. I probably won't go to all vegan, but I will start trying to eat more along those lines. I love eggs and chicken, so I don't see me not eating those foods. However, with all that I know now, I should just go without any meat or eggs from now on. Just not sure I can. I will also have a hard time sticking to this plan because of my DH. I highly doubt he will go without bacon and cheese. LOL!

Jolie - Nice workout!! I like working out like that as well, I miss it. However, I have no desire to do STS again. :)

Doreen - Nice job on your workout, are they all tabata style since you have to use a timer?

Diane - Hope you are doing well. I am going to PM you about something.

Roselyn - Great job with Lift It, Hit It Legs!

Have a great evening everyone!!

Saturday I did Jessica Smith Walk Strong and Have Fun Step and Stride, 30 minutes, 158 calories, heart rate 124/155, 3,432 steps followed by Raw 5 day Strength day 5 stretch, 36 minutes, 37 calories, 79/102 heart rate, 70 steps. Total time was 67 minutes, 195 calories, 3,502 steps. The rest of the day was spent helping our daughter with fixing things to sell her house. Had a break and stayed up to late watching the last Terminator movie.
Sunday morning I did Jessica Smith Gentle Yoga neck and shoulders, went to church and went back to my daughters house to help.
This morning I had my grandchildren here since my daughter had a professional day at school. So, I was entertaining the 5 year old most of the time. I did manage to get in Step Boss PHA 2 Timesaver #6, lower body only, 33 minutes, 105 calories, 102/134 heart rate, used Cathe's weights, 1,425 steps. I finished with the Step Boss Bonus floor stretch, 10 minutes, 9 calories.
Tomorrow I have a visual field test and vision tests. Part of it is the tests I have to have while taking the Hydroxychloraquine (Paquenil ) for arthritis.

Jolie, the push pull premix is a good one. I love the premixes on Cathe's workouts. I love blueberry and lemon muffins. I have made some quite a lot from Practical Paleo cookbook. Even the children liked them. I always try to use the healthies ingredients in even the goodies that I make. ;) I haven't went to the hair dresser in years. I color my own hair and have my husband cut it.

Belinda, I guess Jessica Smith's Cardio Party didn't have music that made you think much of a party ? I hope doing STS works for you. Lighter on lower sounds like a good day. I am doing better today. Tired from lack of sleep, but my knees are good. Still battling the neck and shoulders issue. At least last night and today I have not felt so bad that I needed to take some Advil or something.

Roselyn, nice work on Lift it Hiit it legs.

Debbie, I have tried vegetarian before with allowing some fish here and there. Even down to making my own tempeh and stuff for vegan chili in place of meat. It did not work well for me. I lost too much weight and did not feel well. No energy. A balance is good though. I do not always have meat every day. This weekend I have not been so balanced. Yesterday I ended up with two salads, one from Mcdonalds and one from Braums. Not the healthiest thing. I try to use half the dressing. If I have it at home I use my homemade dressing. I am not a fan of those that try to scare people completely away from meat. I think we need to be careful and know what are the best choices. If you have P90X2 there were some vegan recipes in their cookbook that came with it. They used to have lots of recipes on Beach Body. I have some cookbooks, but rarely use them. Pinterest has plenty of recipes. I have a book by Tony Horton and one by his personal chef that I have used recipes from that I really liked. He had a hummus that was really good in his I made a lot. I used it as spread on a brown rice tortilla with tuna. I still tried to avoid gluten and wheat products. It seems like most of the cookbooks I buy end up having 2 or 3 recipes I make all of the time. I have not purchased another since I bought some for the Instant Pot. Most were Keto and Paleo and I avoid the lots of fat recipes. I just looked and the one cookbook from Tony's chef is called Karma Chow.
It really sounds like you are dealing with the same problems I have other than maybe the degeneration that I have in my neck.

I have been avoiding eggs. lately. I think next time I make my whole 30 ranch dressing I will try making a mayonnaise for the base without the 1 egg in it. I don't make mine quite the same as the recipe because I have quit using the coconut milk and I use avocado oil or almond oil.
A lady in my church has to have shoulder replacement surgery. She told me her doctor who is into natural food and healing gave her a recipe for a drink that would do wonders for speeding healing. I keep trying to remember all of the ingredients. I might have to ask her again what was in it.
Here is what I have down
garbonzo beans (wondered if it was the beans or she meant chickpea flour)
greens
turmeric
coconut water
tahini
(so far that is all I can remember so not sure if there was more)

Good morning,

IMAX4 + bonus abs #2 is done. Finally took IMAX4 out of the shrink-wrap. Glad I did. The workout was a lot of fun. I didn't use the step, I was afraid of my hamstring acting up. Still had a great step count. Almost 6 K. Not bad. I also did do anything on the floor kept everything standing. I marched in place instead. Too me the workout didn't feel low impact, there were still impact. I kept everything low impact. IMAX4 is a lot of fun. Can't wait to do it on a step once my hamstring feels better.

Debbie - I went on the knifes over fork website last night too. They have a ton of free recipes. I probably will incorporate more vegan/vegetarian food. My husband does eat vegan food at the restaurant. He isn't a huge fan of vegan food. He loves meat. No way I will ever go back an eat a tofurky on Thanksgiving, lol. Tasted like cardboard. I love the beyond burgers, but they are not very healthy. To make the burger taste good they adding a lot of fat. Who needs that? Not so healthy.

Diane - I get bored with the instructor music or they saying the same old thing over and over again. I play pretty much my own music to every workout unless the music is ok and fun. Glad to hear you doing better. Sorry about the lack of sleep. I am still dealing with my hamstring. I am getting old. Hope you feel better soon.

Waving Hi to everyone that checks in today. BBL!

Today I walked on my treadmill again but wanted to do something else. I decided to do a little bit of Kelly's RAW Ab Finisher. I cannot stand the music in that workout. Not trying to be rude, it is just not my cup of tea. I did the standing part of it and a little bit of the floor part. I wanted to stretch so I had to stop it before it ended.

Sick of being in pain. My DH and I bought new recliner chairs this weekend and they are so much more comfortable than the million dollar Lazy Boy we purchased last year. What a piece of crap. My head is no longer being pushed forward and I can sit up straight in it. Hopefully these small changes I'm making will help.

Have a great day everyone.
