Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for February 2020!!

Belinda, I use the step or fit tower a lot for push ups. Not so much for my knees, but because it is more comfortable. Kneeling does not bother me unless my left knee is swollen. I you doing STS legs too?

Roselyn, nice workout choices today.

Debbie, I hope that you continue to feel better. I hurt a lot last night and this morning I took an Advil and did stretching till it lightened up before I did my workout. It seems quite a bit better this evening. I was looking at some exercise suggestions for changes for those with neck problems on Livestrong. They said to do things like lat pulldowns from the front and not the back. There were other things too.

Jolie, you could look at the exercises ahead for STS and figure out changes ahead of time. I am sure you can come up for subs for the body parts you are working. Right now planks and push ups seem to be rough on the front of my right shoulder. I keep having to adjust. Nice work.

I was reading up on some things on the Arthritis Foundations site and the side effects and natural supplements. Glucosamine can cause high cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure. I guess because of the shell fish. I am trying to put together what I need that does not conflict between arthritis and heart now.

This morning I did Lite Cardio Party, 40 minutes, heart rate 116/156, 227 calories, 3,925 steps. I wanted to do back so did Lite Muscle Meltdown back skipping pull over moves and adding moves from Physical Therapy, 22 minutes, 45 calories, 335 steps, heart rate 95/108. I finished with Jessica Smith Gentle Yoga neck and shoulders and a couple of minutes of foam rolling, 22 minutes, 25 calories, heartrate 84/99, 31 steps. Total time 84 minutes, 297 calories.
I need to get ready to go pick up my grandson so will check back later.
Weights
Back Giant sets 12 reps each move 3 rounds
1 arm row 20# db all rounds
skipped pull over and used a band looped over my spin bike for the right angle and did straight arm pull downs 12 reps all rounds
1 arm wide row 15# all rounds
skipped 1 arm pullover and rnd 1 did standing band rows 24 reps round 1, round 2 I did 12 reps of standing band pull downs and 12 of the band rows, round 3 I did side lying rotators with 5# 12 reps on each side
(It took me a bit to decide which moves to use, I probably should have used 3 # for the rotators as that is what they used for me at first till we dropped the weight at PT.

Walked on my treadmill again, hopefully the last time and hopefully I can do a better workout on Monday but I won't get my hopes up. However, I am feeling much better. The only thing I feel now is a pinch in my right neck, right on the upper part, the muscle that gets sore when you sit too long and someone comes up behind you and rubs it out. That muscle is pinched for some reason. When I press down on it really hard with my thumb it hurts but feels good, too. I can't do it for too long, though. Not sure what I can use in that area to press out that knot? Any thoughts?

Sitting in my chair using my stupid mouse is irritating it. That is when it starts to really hurt. So sick of sitting all day long in front of a computer. I should get a lawn and garden job. :)

Diane - I stopped doing those exercises that the PT video showed that I was doing, like the one where you do the snow angels against a wall or the one where you stand facing the wall and run your elbows up and down the wall. Those types of exercises are what got us in this predicament to begin with. LOL!! I feel like I need to let those muscles just rest and recover and then start back to exercises. I don't know, I could be wrong. I know they say movement helps, but it hasn't helped me in the least.

Sorry no personals, I have been so dang busy. Hopefully this weekend I can get in here and do personals. Great workouts to you all, though! You're all doing excellent!

Debbie, sitting at the computer for a long time sets off my pain and knots too and I do not have to do it for a job. I never know what is right with the moves they have you do. I am fine this evening. I have wondered if complete rest would get rid of it, but then really the muscles may just heal in that tightened position. Plus, I need the joints moved around. I watch those that do not move and take pain meds and everything else and they are just stuck in a rut. Those physical therapists are trained for this and insurance pays for it so they must know something. I felt that a lot of the time I was better for a few hours or maybe a day and then the pain would come back. I at least need to move. The internet has so much conflicting information on what is right. I find tilting my head back to far when rolling back over the foam roller does not feel good. I put a hand behind my head for support. I noticed when Kelly was doing it on one of her stretches, maybe the day 5 one, she is doing that and then corrects and puts her hands behind her head saying it doesn't feel right to her. I can't roll my head around in circles either as it crackles and hurts. I have to do the neck tilting slow and gentle. Another thing to point out also is that when I had a couple of days without the PT pulling and moving things and me just doing some light movement at home, I would start feeling a bit better.

This morning I did Raw Intervals 5, 36 minutes, 109/146 heart rate, 125 calories, 1,745 steps. Used 5 and 10#. I had to do some of my own moves as this is shoulder intensive, has some squat thrust moves, plank work. I used my rebounder for the cardio segments. Weights are compound moves. I remember now looking at this one and deciding it was not doable as is.
Got to run as I have a wedding shower in an hour to go to and I have birthday cakes to make for tomorrow.

I did a Shine Dance workout this morning. Very fun. My son & DIL are visiting us. Off to spent time with my family. BBL!

I did several songs from Refit on demand as a warm up/ cardio this morning. Then I did a sangbag circuit I saw on instagram and a glute circuit also from instagram. I finally figured out how to do workouts I see posted online.... just save them to a collection so I can find them again and cast my screen up to my TV! Seems so obvious but I haven't thought of it before for some reason! Then just follow the exercise for the time or reps and then swipe to the next one and keep going! I'd see stuff posted I would want to try but then never remember what the move was when I got to my workout.

Yesterday I went for a 3 mile walk and it was so nice to get outside. I did not wear my Fitbit, I just enjoyed my walk. Today is my last rest day for the week. I went to a new Chiropractor yesterday, one that specializes in Muscle Testing and he did wonders for me. My ankle has been out of alignment for so long and it has irritated my knee as well. He adjusted me and I am sore today but all of the swelling in my ankle is gone! Also he adjusted my right quad muscle it was really week but after the adjustment we tested it and it is so strong now. I love this stuff!

Great workouts everyone!!!!! I am off to see some houses, our land lord said we could stay here but only if we sign a 2 year lease and there would be an increase in rent by $800!!!!! No way! I would just buy a house at that price.

Happy Saturday, it is thundering and raining today!

Hi,

I am playing catch up today. I did SBF Abs 3 = 31 min. I will add a short stretch later today.

Roxie - how do you like the tower and BB Barre workouts?

Jolie - glad the Chiropractor helped. That's a lot of $$ for rent. Good luck.

Have a great Sunday, everyone.

Today I did Kelly's Home Gym Intervals #2 (not RAW) and had a great workout. Love these, I'm thinking of using them this week and going really light with the weights to see if I can get back to lifting. I will do another one on Wednesday and one on Friday if all goes well after today. I am feeling better but dang if my right side isn't still giving me issues.

This was intervals of around 1 min. 30 seconds on the treadmill and then 1 minute exercises. I used 8 & 10# dumbbells for all the exercises.

Bicep Curl/Squat - 8's
Cardio
Kickbacks - 8's (I did traditional curls)
Cardio
Knee Smash, right side - 8#
Cardio
Knee Smash, left side - 8#
Cardio
Cross Press/Squat, right - 8#
Cardio
Cross Press/Squat, left - 8#
Cardio
Pushups - I did Chest Press - 10's
Cardio
Dips - I did lying extensions - 8's
Cool down

Workout was 34 minutes, burned 232 calories, went 1.3 miles on my treadmill. Avg. HR 123/164. I went 3282 steps.

I took the last 25 minutes and just stretched and rolled my lats, etc. Felt good. Lats are still very tight but not as painful as they were last week.

Be back later!

Way back in the archives today. Seasun Ziegler - Stepping up. Love this one - she really keeps you moving! I had to pause and restart combo 3 because my headphones decided to drop the volume and I could no longer hear the cueing!!

We had family birthdays yesterday. I ate German chocolate cake and ice cream and hardly slept last night. I was still awake at 2 this morning. Tried to read and used my fitbit relax app. So, I am dragging today. I did Coffey Fit Raw Box & Pump 3 lower, 59 minutes, heart rate 121/168, 260 calories, 3,971 steps. I tried moving my fit bit up higher on my arm, about 2 and a half inches and tightening it. I am not sure that made much difference. I used a 35# barbell, 15# dumbbells for medium, and 12# for light except for good mornings which I used 10# like Kelly. I finished off with Jane Adams yoga for relief from desk work, 19 minutes, 18 calories, Total time was77 miutes, 278 calories.

Debbie, nice work today with Home Gym Intervals. It is good to hear that your pain is so much better.

Belinda, good that you got STS in. Do you still have family visiting?

Doreen, I used to have Seasun's Stepping Up. I dont think that I do anymore. Just a bosu workout of hers I think on a CIA dvd.

Roselyn, it usually takes at least 3 days for things to go back to normal after indulging. I stay away from the scale when I know I have eaten too much.

Today I had a great workout, I started STS, I am going to do it with Belinda. Today was Disc 1, Chest, Shoulders and Biceps. I loved it!!! STS has always been my favorite Cathe workout, I have done it so many times that I had to take a break the last few years but now I am ready to do it again. I did not do any pushups, I did Chest presses, all kinds instead and I used 20 pound DB's. This substitution worked out perfect, my Chest is pumped!!! Workout was 1 hour and i burned 387 calories. Then I got on my TM and walked 20 minutes, 6.5 to 8.5 incline, 3.3 speed and traveled 1.1 miles. I burned 202 calories. Total workout was 1 hour 20 minutes and I burned 589 calories.

Belinda, What are you going to do on the cardio days? I will use my TM and maybe Elliptical. I am going to buy a magnetic rowing machine so I can have some non impact cardio. I can get a really good one on Amazon for under $300.

Doreen, great job on the workout, I have never heard of that instructor.

Debbie, I am so happy you could lift light today!!!!!!!! Praying that you get no pain and can continue on. I wish you could do STS with Belinda and I.

Diane Sue, I did all Chest presses instead of pushups in STS and it worked out great. I cant go on my knees because my knee cap moves and get way too much pain. I hope you have a great workout today.

Roselyn, don't worry about the weight it was probably too much sodium in the food and you are retaining water weight.

BBL to read more posts.

I found the best house yesterday, really big and nice and we were putting an offer in on it to lease it and a man came in with $60,000 in cash and paid for the entire year up front! How can I compete with that? People have so much money where I live it is insane!!!!!! My husband makes really good money but it is if we are poor!

Have a nice day.

I also did Jessica Smith Walk Strong 2: Wo 1 - Steady, Ready, Go! = 30 min to get some steps in. My plan is to go through all my walking dvd's.

Jolie - yeah! Glad you started STS with me. I was burned out on STS. I probably done the program once a year since it came out, different variations (3.5/pyramid up than down/than the bodybuilding rotations) The last time I have done STS was in 2018. I needed a break. I was ready to start again. STS is also one of my favorite Cathe strength workouts. I will pull out all my cardio Cathe and other instructors. I will do whatever I feel like doing on those day's. Like I mention, I have done STS so many times even the original STS plus cardio. Tomorrow I will do the 60 min Zumba Strong dvd. I also plan on using my bosu, rebounder and walking, hiking for cardio. My bowflex has a rowing, maybe I will start using it. Never used it :) Good job on your workout. Great job today.

Debbie - great job as usually.

Roselyn - nice job yesterday.

Diane - great job today. My son and DIL left yesterday.

Doreen - I have Seasun Ziegler - Stepping up. Love her workouts. Need to pull it out.

Back for personals!

Roxie - Welcome back!! Hope you are enjoying your new rotation!

Roselyn - I do that every weekend, I have to stop. I have all intentions of doing good and usually do until we go somewhere. Then I pay for it because my body can't deal with all that rich food. I need to do better. Nice job on your workout!

Belinda - Have fun with STS!! I like that series as well. I see Jolie is doing it too. Great job with D4 today!

Jolie - I like STS but hated all the pushups. Nice job on D1!! I wish I could do this with you girls, I'm just not ready for that kind of lifting yet. Sorry to hear about that house, what a bummer!! I'm sure you'll find something nice soon.

Diane - I had a horrible night Saturday. We went to an Italian restaurant and I ordered eggplant parmesan. Little did I know it comes with 2# of cheese on it. My god, you couldn't even see the eggplant. I should have sent it back but stupid me ate most of it. I paid for it that night, had a horrible stomach ache and didn't get to sleep until 3 a.m. Never again. Nice job on your workout this morning.

Doreen - That sucks about your earphones, I hate when stuff like that happens!!

Have a great evening!

I am having a lot of pain today :( I guess I will resort to Advil tonight and hopefully feel better in the morning. I did not use weights or gloves for the boxing today. They only weights were for lower body + some lower band work.

Jolie, that is a shame you did not get a chance at the house. That is a lot of money for rent!! I know there it is ridiculously high. Nice work on STS and the substitutions. I have heard quite often of those who have their knee caps move.

Debbie, I always think I am not going to eat something like that again and somewhere down the line I must forget. When we go to our friends Italian restaurant I get salmon. I have learned my lesson. I used to like to get their artichoke lasagna. I have lasagna in my freezer that my daughter made too much of that I need to find someone that will eat it. I just can't. I had a lot of distress anyway from eating way too many diet sweetened cough drops at church and overnight trying to sleep. I have that knot along my left neck and rear shoulder lat area tonight. Boths shoulders hurt, not the right neck though, it is great. It kind of messes up the thought that I was going to do Box and Pump 2 on Wednesday.

Belinda, was that the Walk Strong Have Fun workout? I love those 3 workouts. I get a really nice amount of steps out of them and do not find them boring.
