Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for February 2020!!

I am no worse for wear today from yesterday's workout. Just a little pinch in my right trap. That's been there forever. Heat really helps so I've been heating my upper back and neck every evening.

Today I decided to do Cardio Coach #1 and was able to do the entire thing. So happy about that! By the time I got to the last challenge I was whooped, but I did well until that point.

Workout was 36 minutes, burned 292 calories (TM showed 318), went 2.24 miles (TM showed 2.34), did 4830 steps and HR was 158/171.

My TM and FB used to be almost in sync with the readings. Now it's always off. :(

I took the last 20 minutes and did stretching on my own. My hamstrings were feeling it so I gave them special attention. So far no pulling, I just need to be careful with that.

Sydney 30 minute arms and glutes this morning followed by a 25 minute walk on the TM and trying to catch up on emails at work. Loved this format for the arms and glutes - lots of weighted bridge work.

Jolie - I signed up for 6 months of Live - and I'm wishing I hadn't because I've now done the ones that looked interesting since I last subscribed - so I hear you on getting bored of them.

Diane - good work on Box and Bar. I really want to try that one out!

Debbie - I love that tabata bar workout you did. One of my raw favorites!!!
 
No workout today, my mom was rushed to the hospital last night for high blood pressure and I got absolutely no sleep. She had to change blood pressure meds and she had a bad reaction to it. She is home now, they gave her something else and all is good but I am not, I am exhausted!

Debbie, great job on the Cardio Coach, that is so impressive that you finished even after been away from that workout for a long time. Way to go on the workout and the stretch this morning.

Doreen, nice workout today and a walk on the TM! I don't know how you can do your emails while walking on the TM, i would fall off LOL!

Belinda, Great workout today! I am going to do a run to the Thrift Store soon myself.

Good morning,

I just finished Sydney's 50 min Glutes and Cardio. I am not sure if I can do Sydney's 8 week program. Her style of workouts are so different than what I am used too. Maybe I am too old school. I will see how I feel by Friday. I may switch to my dvd's next week.

Did not feel like working out at all today. I was so tired when I got up and that usually never happens. I don't think I slept well, I know I woke up to my husbands snoring a couple times and then couldn't fall back to sleep right away. I hate that.

I did walk on my treadmill for 40 minutes, burned 263 calories (TM said 252 so that's cool), went 1.91 miles (TM said 2 which is what I did walk), did 4717 steps and HR was 120/142.

I also did Jessica's Gentle Yoga for Neck and Shoulders.

I realized yesterday that my keyboard/mouse setup at work is killing me. My right arm using my mouse is way out to the right when using it putting pressure on my upper shoulder area. I haven't noticed that before until early last week. I've been really aware of how I am using it but it still is hurting. So I took off the arm rest which takes up the entire length of the keyboard holder and put another one I had that is shorter on it. It's better but not great. I've been typing a lot since a week ago Monday because I'm scheduling 700+ kids for the Solo & Ensemble contest I am coordinating. Killer to sit so much. I have been using my standing tower quite a bit so that helps. My upper right back is really aching today.

Sorry so long and if you read all that, kudos to you! :) If you didn't, I don't blame you!

CL Cardio Boxing this morning. Just needed a "no-brainer" workout!! This worked perfectly - easy to follow nothing to taxing!

Jolie- I hope your mom is doing better!!

Debbie- I hear you on working/typing a lot. I'm so tired of it some days! I try to stand but I forget or get involved in something and can't do it standing.

Debbie, I have noticed different things that bring on pain that I had never noticed before. I think typing kind of works the muscles in the forearm and somewhat in the upper anyway. The more I use the computer, the more pain I seem to have. Yesterday was a better day for me, and that was partly because I was gone half the day and busy with other tasks when I returned. I hate that, but it is the way it is.
 
Today I walked on my TM for 40 minutes, 6.5 incline, 3.3 speed and burned 347 calories. Then I got on my Spin Bike and road for 10 minutes, a pretty good resistance, as much as my right knee could take, it aches so bad when I ride, and I burned an additional 100 calories. I was really sweating from the ride! Total workout time was 50 minutes and I burned 447 calories. My mom is doing a little better, she doesn't have all of her meds yet so she is waiting for the doctor to call them into the pharmacy. The Democrats should worry about lowering drug prices rather than focusing on obstruction of Trump. I swear, they are now on another issue about Carter Paige's sentencing rather than working for the American people! I'm mad as Hell!

Debbie, nice job on the walk, I didn't feel like working out today either :( But, once I get started I end up doing pretty good. I get the whole computer and typing issue, that is why I had gotten a stand up desk as well. Great job on the program you are putting together for 700 kids!!!!!

Doreen, getting it done with Cathe Live today! My right knee was killing me while riding today, I think I should change my shoes and see if that helps.

Belinda, I am so bored with the workouts or I am just not feeling them lately, that is why I switched to DVD's. I like the pre mixes and they are slower. Why does Cathe move so quickly in her live workouts? This is why I loved STS Meso 2 and 3 so much, 1 there are too many pushups, I cant do those anymore. I like the Strong and Sweaty Upper Body workout a lot, I think I will do that again tomorrow. I was sore the next day :)

I saw a beautiful house yesterday overlooking the ocean. It has a jacuzzi in the back yard and what a view. I bet it will be leased before I can sign papers. I have to stay here till the end of April. Maybe it will still be available when the time comes.

Today I did Raw Ripped and Ride January 2020, this time I used the spin bike since last time I followed Kelly on the step. The weights they use are a bit confusing as at the start Kelly says 5 and 7's mayb she says 5 or 7. I don't know. They were using 10 for their heavy. I used 5's and 8's. This was 35 minutes, heart rate 114/154, 128 calories, 1,446 steps. I thn did 5 Day Strength day 2 chest and triceps, 34 minutes, 90/135 heart rate, 57 calories, 320 steps (map my fitness said 177 calories using upper strength setting) I finished with Jessica Smith Gentle Yoga neck and shoulders, 19 minutes, 89/121 heart ate 24 calories, 44 steps.
Total time was 88 minutes, 209 calories, 1,810 steps. I am about ready to toss this Versa 2 across the room. Feeling frustrated with the amount of effort I am putting in and it's readings. Not what they were at the start.
I will be back in awhile.
 
Jolie, praying your mother gets the meds she needs and is okay. Prescription costs are ridiculous. They are so much more into themselves and power rather than care about our people. It has gotten disgusting. I have not been feeling much like working out lately myself. At least if my Fitbit stats were better I might have some motivation. I just drag myself to the my workout room in the mornings. I did do my planned workout though. Had to lighten because my right shoulder is starting to act up. I am hoping it is not going back to what it was and the whole feeling better was the steroid injection. Maybe I am just sore from Monday's weight workout. I didn't do one yesterday. I used to love all of the fast activity, not so much weights done that way though. When I did the slower weight workouts I often was bouncing all over the room in between LOL Now I guess old age and arthritis has me taking more of the rests.

Belinda, what is different about Sydney cummings workouts? Are they too fast or just the types of moves?

Doreen, nice job choosing a no brainer workout and getting one in today.
 
Jolie - I do get bored easily. I don't get why Cathe is going so fast in her live workouts? I also love STS M2 and 3. You always can do push ups on a bench or wall. I use my bench a lot for those push ups. No need to pull something. I should revisit my dvd's. I like all the ones you mention. How is your mom doing? Hope she is doing better.

Debbie - great job getting your workout in. Sometimes I don't feel like working out. I love walking.

Diane - I have done Sydney's weight workouts before. She is doing a 8 week ELEV8 to get ready for her upcoming wedding in May. So far, the program is a lot of circuit w/Hiit or straight up weight training. There isn't any cardio as far as I can see or done.Most of the time she does 3 rounds each circuit. It's my knees don't like her exercises. She does most exercise on the floor than jumps up again to do standing lower w/upper body. I don't go down on the floor, I do all the floor exercise on my weight bench/stability ball or on my rebounder. For her HiiT she hardly shows modifications or does them a few minutes into the HiiT. Don't give me wrong her workouts are great if you like a lot of HiiT, twisting workouts. I modify everything except the upper body. I feel like I may as well do my own workout. Today I did my own cardio instead of following her. She does a lot of burpees, like I said I do my own thing. She has a huge following on YT. I prefer a slower base right now. That's all I need to twist my knees doing something stupid :) Sorry about your shoulder.

Tomorrow I will visit my daughter in DC. Friday I have to work in DC.

Cathe Lite Strong UB stacked sets is done. I couldn't bring myself to do another Sydney workout. These workouts are not for me at the moment. I don't want to feel like I am wasting my time with a workout if I can't do the entire workout. I am avoiding high impact until my knees are 100% better.

Roselyn - sorry your dad is still in the hospital. I will keep him in my prayers.

I am getting ready to leave for DC spending time with DD. Tomorrow will not be a fun day, it's a work day.

Belinda - I think I have it through the end of April? I did 6 months to get the 15% off but I don't remember exactly when I started. I would agree - there is no need to do a workout if you modify all of it - might as well do your own or an entirely different one alltogether!

I did CL 267 Metabolic Madness this morning. This was my second time doing it so I knew what weights to use and the second time through I used my barbell for the Deadlifts and the squats/calf raises. This is on my list to buy if I ever decide to go that route.

I am checking out the Jillian Michaels fitness app for the free 7 day trial. Its actually an interesting concept that I wish someone other than Jillian would do. It has built in a workout builder. They give you a workout that is comprised of 30 second clips of Jillian doing an exercise. Then you pick the time between intervals (3 sec, 5 sec) before the next exercise clip starts. If you want to swap out an exercise just click on the corner of the box and it brings up a list of other similar moves (lower impact option, etc) that you can put into the video playlist. Then when you click play it plays the playlist of all the clips for your workout. They have some premade workouts and programs laid out that you start editing from. Each is about 30 minutes depending on how much time you put between your intervals. You can play your own music through the app because all that are on the video clips are cue and form tips from Jillian done as voice overs (sans her annoying chatter with the cast). I'm going to try one maybe tomorrow or Saturday and see what I think. The app also has menus and other log items for food/etc.
 
No workout today, I have little energy and I am just sick of working out WTF! Seriously, what is wrong with me? I have never been like this in my life, I feel utterly burnt out. My DH says its because I have so much on my plate and it has become overwhelming, it is probably true. If I get 4 days of working out a week now I am happy. I used to walk so much outdoors at my last house, now I dont because the hills are so steep at my house now. If i want to walk on flatter ground, I have to drive to the beach. I think that is what i have been missing this past year. I love my TM, but I do love outdoor walks more. Getting sunlight is key to my happiness. Also, my knee is so sore today from my spin bike, I now know why I stopped riding it years ago. I am going to clean my house today, it is dusty from all of the wind we have had and I cant stand it anymore. Since my house is so big, I think that will be a workout in itself! :)

Doreen, let us know what you think of the Gillian Michaels app workouts. Great job on your workout today, i dont think that i ever tried that one.

Belinda, I am going to revisit all of my DVD's that i have invested in and do them for awhile. I like the fact that there are premixes to changed them up when needed and i just like they workouts from years ago better. All of this Metabolic workouts are not my favorite. I like weight workouts and then i like to do my own cardio. I cant stand all of the compound moves and jumping in the newer workouts. I might do STS Meso 2 with cardio on alternating days. When i used to do these workouts this way, it is the best i have ever looked.

Diane Sue, great job on your Ride workout yesterday. My mom is not feeling well, it takes time to adjust to the blood pressure meds, and to also get the dosage right. I feel bad for her, this is something that i could run into as well one day so I really have to start addressing it now with diet, exercise and supplements. I am making fruit and veggie smoothies for lunch and i am loving them instead of eating. Eating just makes me sick, so i am sure that i am allergic to certain foods. If i could drink my meals i would!

Today I walked on my treadmill again. I was going to RAW R&R January, but my right shoulder is still bother me a bit. I want it to heal. I walked about 40 minutes and then I did my tried and true Yoga Focus by Karen Voight. Love that stretch workout.

Jolie - Maybe you just need a rest week. I am feeling a lot like you lately, but I have been doing easy workouts and walking on my treadmill for the most part. I think I feel this way because I know I can't do anything intense right now which is totally bumming me out. I'm with you on just doing weights and then our own cardio. I miss that. I think I might start that up again once I'm better with my shoulder. I hope your mom is doing better.

Roselyn - Nice workout, saying a prayer for your dad. Hope he's doing better.

Belinda - Have fun in DC, yuck on having to work!

Diane - I wanted to try the workout you did yesterday (R&R Jan) but was worried the weight part of it was too much. It seems like every time I lift I get set back a few days again. :( Seems we are all sort of out of it lately, maybe it's the weather? I'd rather sleep than workout right now.

Doreen - Nice job on Metabolic Madness, I think I did that one once before. I'm with Jolie, I want to do just lifting workouts and then my own cardio. I may start doing that when this pain goes away. I should cancel CL for a while, I haven't done a workout from there in a while.

A quick check in tonight. No workout today. I had my granddaughter overnight and took her for an appointment with her orthodontist to remove her Invisalign. Her mouth was hurting. I take her back in a couple of weeks to get them replaced. They now have a scanner instead of the clay stuff they used to use for impressions. Afterward I took her to drop off her bag and to school. I came home and just so tired and in so much pain, which has worsened over the day. Probably should have at least stretched. I tried to stay off the computer most of the day. I did spend some time looking for a birthday present for my 12 year old granddaughter. Tonight the pain is worse. I took some Advil and am headed to bed. Also add coughing to the mix. Night and day coughing.

Debbie, I know what you mean about the set backs. I keep having them and am so frustrated.

Jolie, I have been less excited about working out, but I know it is just being busy running out the door and then the frustration of pain flaring and trying to decide on the right workout. Right now since my knee keeps swelling off and on and toes hurt along with the upper body, choices have been difficult. Some days I can do the workouts an no pain and others it just hits. I have found if I get out in the sun for a little while I sleep better and feel more productive. The only thing is I tend to avoid it because of my allergies. I ran out of vitamin D and need to pick up some more.

Belinda, I get kind of tired of total body interval workouts. It seems they are more popular than just cardio or just weights. I guess for those who want an everything in one workout they are nice.
It seems much harder to find a workout that is only cardio.

Doreen, the Jillian streaming sounds interesting, but I don't think I would do it with her in it. It would be nice if it was someone else.

Roselyn, sorry that your Dad is still in the hospital. Sending prayers out for him.
 
Happy Valentines Day!

I took a 6 a.m. Pilates Reformer class with DD. It was my DD's favorite instructor, she was amazing. I felt more confidence on the reformer. Felt every muscle in my body. I guess in live classes they can play real music. The music was recognizable, upbeat music. I wished I had a pilates studio near by, I would take more reformer classes.

Jolie - I still love my dvd's and premixes. Especially Cathe's older premixes. I don't find her new premixes as complex as she did years ago. Sounds like you need a few day's off. Take some nice walks. Hope you feel better soon.

Debbie - I still get to hang out with my DD. I am not going to work all day long.

Diane - I usually don't mind doing intervals. At the moment my knees can't handle it. Forgot to make an appointment for my knee this week. I have to make a not to make one for next week.

Off to get to work. I will try to check in later today.
 
This morning I pulled out Step Moves DVD and then added on a couple songs from Refit on Demand.
