Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for April 2022!!

Good morning,

IRON Series 30 Min Glutes & Hamstrings Workout - Hip Thrusts / RDL | 8 plus SBF Lower body is done.

Are you getting Cathe's new series? I haven't used DVD's in month. I know I will get them, just haven't decided if I will get DVD's?

Have a great Wednesday and workout.

Today is my rest day. My right knee is so sore from tripping over the corner of my rug the other evening, I want to rest it some more to see if that helps the pain go away. It is a constant dull pain; my knee might be out of alignment.

Nice job on the workouts yesterday!

Belinda, I was just reading about the new STS series from Cathe, you know how much I love me some STS! I want to see more about it but most likely I will order it since it is my all time favorite workout series. Nice job on the workout!

Make it a great day.

Oh boy- I thought I had missed a pre-sale announcement - and had to go digging the forums!! I see her update on STS 2.0. I will need to see some clips before ordering because I have a lot of DVDs laying around- better yet I would probably just do a subscription of on demand for a rotation before ordering it. I'm kinda liking Ifit except the strength workouts are no where near the Cathe level. But they release something new every month for bike or treadmill or strength or yoga or something.

I did a 40 minute ride with Yuri on Ifit at the Canyonlands White Rim trail today. He's a fun instructor - was talking about nutrition and hydration and what he does for his 60 plus miles rides and races.

I was so busy today I didn't have time to post my workout. Real quick, this morning I did KCM Box Fit Workout 1 and had a great workout. I love this workout, I did it once before. I want to do Workout 2 tomorrow, it is a lifting workout. The one I did was just boxing and it had some high impact moves but I modified. So fun. I used my 1# sand weights.

Workout was 33 minutes, burned 310 minutes, did 4565 steps and HR was 141/167.

Have a good night everyone! It's been a long day for me.

I've been a little busy this week but finally got a workout in. I did Michelle Briehler 50 min. Full Body Pump. It was a good muscle burner. She put a little new twist to some of the moves. Very well done. I added XTrain Low Impact Floor Cardio. I wanted to do the step portion but I was fatigued.

I enjoyed my brother's visit. We had a great time. I didn't have to run errands for my mom. He did everything. My mom seems to want more things than she needs lately. Not sure if shes hoarding or forgets what she has. She shouldn't need any toiletries for a few months. I need to keep a better inventory of her stuff.

Beautiful weather the last few days until about 5 pm. today. It started pouring got real windy with thunder and lightning. I've been taking my dog for walks at night, but not tonight. She needs 2 walks per day. She has too much energy from laying around most of the work day.

I am not sure what Cathe's new series will exactly entail, but if it's strictly several heavy weight workouts, I will pass. I find enough on YT. I am more of a cardio and strength circuits girl.

This morning I went to my surgeon for another follow up. It was a long morning as I left at 9 am and did not get home till noon. It is a long drive. I am happy he says I do not have to come back unless there is a problem. He gave me another prescription for PT and I am going to go once a week for a bit so we can work more on the rotator cuff. The surgeon said I was gaining strength, and needed to continue working on that rotator strength. I want to go over what I can substitute for equipment at home for a couple of things and appropriate weight as I do not know what those bars weight he has me using. Plus he helps push that full stretch at the end. Tomorrow I will start my day after devotions with a workout. I need to work on both rotators as I think the left has been missing a lot with the one sided work we have been doing. It has a tendency toward aching too and I do not want to do another surgery. I went to ladies game day yesterday and that was fun. No workout though. I did not get much sleep either night. Hopefully tonight is better.
Does anyone else have problems finding doctor pepper in anything but 2 liter bottles? I keep trying to get some and Walmart did not have any. They would have a 8 pack of 12 oz shipped for 17.00o_O I went to Dollar general and only vanilla doctor pepper. I don't drink it, but my husband does. I hate it when things are missing in the stores or when I find it has quadrupled in price. Every month we seem to have to switch dog food as they are out of stock when I go to order. This time I ended up back with the one I was trying to find in stock somewhere 4 months ago. I think we actually finally have dining table on it's way to our house. We have had the worst time with this. We still have one on order that should have been here by now and they said now it was going to be June. One cancelled on delivery day and said they didn't have the table we ordered. This one happened to show up in stock. Hoping nothing goes wrong. I am hosting ladies game day next month and if we do not have a table I will have to use the folding table.

Debbie, I followed Jane for some of the moves on Cardio Fit too. Also did not want to do a complete jack even though I move my arms through that motion at PT, it is controlled and 20 reps which is not the same. All in all, the cardio only for the hi/lo in that is doable for me. If you find yourself taking ibuprofen and that sort of thing it can stop the body's use of the collagen and cartilage and joint repair. This is something I have read a lot in finding things to help heal. Do you take vitamin C along with the collagen as that helps the body utilize it. There are some brands that are adding C to the collagen powder. I just take an emergen-c packet in the morning and drink my coffee with collagen. Also, are you getting enough protein? I am sure you probably monitor that though.

Doreen, I think I am with you as to seeing some clips and what the workouts will contain. There really is a lot of options online.

Belinda, nice work with Iron series and SB and today's workout. I am doing well. Shoulder has kind of hurt for a few days now and down my arm some. I think it is the Body Blade move. I have not looked at the announcement for a new STS series. I will wait till much later to decide on it. Am I confused or wasn't she already working on some weight workouts. I have not paid much attention lately.

Cam, having workouts with a bit of a new twist to the moves is always nice. We kept having some upcoming storm warnings, but what we got today was a few drops of rain while and high winds. I had to grab my car door handle when I got out of the car as it tried to fly shut. I was sure glad I wore a sweater over my t shirt. I got some warnings for a frost tonight and plants maybe needing covered.

Jolie, great P90X workout. Be careful of those rugs. I have done things like that so many times.

This morning I did Workout 2 from the KCM Box Fit workout. It was so fun and very fast moving. I was really sweating when I got done. Fun moves.

Each move is 30 seconds with a 3 second rest - the only time we rested was when we had to go on the floor for chest and ab work. I paused a few times to write down the exercises.

Lawn Mower Rows: 12#
Bent Over Rows: 12's
Plies: 12# (I did shallow plies and did well)
Repeat

Single Arm Overhead Extensions: 8#
Double Arm Kickbacks: 8's
Slalom Squats: 8's (fun and doable for me!)

Alternate Hammer Curls: 12's

Deads/Squats: 12's (I only did deadlifts)
Repeat

Upright Rows: 8's
Front/Back Lunges: 8's (I only did shallow back lunges)
Repeat

Alternate Chest Press: 12's
Bridges: (did crunches instead)
Repeat

Weighted Crunch: 12#
Weighted Situps: 12#
Russian Twist: 12#
Explosive Situps: BW
Repeat

Workout was 40 minutes, burned 250 calories, did 470 steps and HR was 112/146. SO FUN!

Diane - I can't find the Pepsi with Sugar in the stores and haven't since before Christmas. I'm not sur what is going on but thy have every other flavor available. My DH drinks the sugar Pepsi, wish he wouldn't Now he's back to the regular Pepsi. Pop is just BAD BAD BAD!!! It should be outlawed. So happy to hear you are doing so well with your recovery. I'm glad you will continue to see your PT, I think that is a good idea. Yes, I take Vitamin C every day.

Belinda - I highly doubt I will get Cathe's new series. My DVD player doesn't work and I just don't need one more series in my house. I'm enjoying the workouts I'm doing with Kelly. Nice job in your workouts!

Good workouts everyone!! Gotta run again. I'm off tomorrow and next week for spring break but I am slammed here at work today again!! Have a great day and workouts!

Hi,

Today we went for a walk before it got too hot to walk Sadie. It's in the 80's. Today is a rest day from Caroline's workouts. I probably will do a nice stretch today too.

Debbie - I know I want them, but really haven't used any dvd's in month's. I haven't open Band Boss yet :(
I really enjoy YT workouts right now. I really like that those workouts are slow and controlled. Great job this morning.

Dorren - lol, no you didn't miss the pre-sale announcement. Good point! I probably will look into streaming too. I hardly use dvd's these day's anymore. So much new stuff on YT. Which I really enjoy!

Diane - sorry if I confused you. The workouts Cathe was talking about a few month ago was STS 2. I probably will wait and see like everyone does. I need to hear more about it. Like Debbie said, I also have too many weight workouts around. I should do those, lol. I don't drink soda. I drink mostly water. I went grocery shopping yesterday, most things are out due to the supply shortage. I stocked up on dog food when I saw a sign on the shelf. Never thought we would go through times like this :( I don't think it will get any better any time soon. I am so happy to hear doing so well with your recovery. Wishing you well. I am glad you will continue with your PT.

Jolie - STS was my all time favorite too. I can't lift what I used to anymore. Sometimes I like picking up heavier weights. I will wait and see what's different between those too sets before I make up my mind. I also like the idea of streaming them first to see what these are all about. We shall see,

Cam - how old is your mom? Like I mention to Jolie, I also can't lift very heavy anymore. I do agree, I find lots of new amazing workouts on YT. I really enjoy them.

Roselyn - are you still doing Iron series? How are you liking them?

Roxie - where are you?

Have a great day and workout. I started packing my suitcase. I will visit my son and DIL soon.

I did Upper Body Day 7 with John Peel on Ifit today. Thinking I may go back to some youtube workouts after this and these seem to move too slow and I think I am loosing muscle endurance.

Debbie, great job on the workout today. I bet you are looking forward to your Spring Break right about now. I am enjoying P90X more than when it first came out, I was so used to doing Cathe only workouts and now I barely do her workouts at all anymore.

Cam, nice workout yesterday. I have to walk my dog 2 times per day as well and I am at home all day. He loves to move, he is a lot like me!

Diane Sue, great news at the doctors yesterday. You are on your way to recovery, the worst part is behind you.

Belinda, I may try Cathe's new workouts on Demand first, to see if I like them before I purchase them, great idea! I like dvds because I do not get the best internet connection in my gym room and then I have little problems with the dvds vs on line workouts.

Doreen, another great workout!

I hope you all have a great day! I think today I am going to clean out my closet, I have so many cloths that either do not fit or they are out of style, and I never wear them. I want to give them to people that are in need instead of sitting in my closet cluttering my mind.

Today I did CDorner to the Beat Cardio, with a little of her latest step hiit workout which had too much going down into a plank so I stopped and skipped part of the warm up of the to the beat workout. I liked the music on To the Beat, but had to modify swinging my arms in circles and the boxing moves that were in part of it. Also skipped most of the just moving with different arm moves. Total time for both was 46 minutes, heart rate 127/167, 232 calories, 4,323 steps. Chris had Donna and another woman working out with her. I did my pt strength work adding moves for both arms. I ended up with 11 moves and used the strength setting on my Garmin. It recognized some of the body parts. I added some of the moves to the little pics of muscles used. I don't know why, I just felt like adding them. This was 30 minutes of work with rests or 22:52 min of work. Probably not accurate because I would start a move and remember it was still timing the rest time. I used 8# dbs and did bent over rows. I could not figure what I could use for the cable weight rows standing I have been doing. That was an estimate of weight as I know it is more than 5#. Tubing and Bands were easy to figure out. I used my shorter padded barbell for the weighted bar lying move that he had me do and then my 9# weight bar for the reverse grip pullover. This burned 65 calories hear rate 91/110, 97 steps. I finished off with CDorner 30 minute mobility stretch Rock Ballads with a chair. This also had Donna and the other woman in it. I liked it and there was not a bunch of stuff on the hands. Some standing. It worked well for me. Music was good although not really what one would expect for a stretch workout. This was 30 minutes, heart rate 76/100, 46 calories.
Total time was 1 hour 46 minutes, 343 calories, 4420 steps.

Debbie, nice work with Box Fit 2 today. Not sure that I have that one written down yet. I may come back and get your info on the workout.
The store shelves here seem to be keeping mainly mountain dew products and things like orange and strawberry soda. Stuff that most people are not going out of there way to purchase. I wish my husband didn't like the doctor pepper so much. Too much sugar. Anything carbonated is not good for people's bones. I was reading up on things to help with Sjogrens and it said not to brush teeth right after carbonated drinks as it breaks down the teeth. My doctor told me years ago when I started showing signs of osteoarthritis to not drink the Perrier water that I was drinking. Sometimes I will think that the collagen is not working, but if I run out and decide not to buy things usually get worse and improve when I go back to using it. I change varieties and brands periodically. Of late I am on my third large tub of Garden of Life collagen peptides type 1 and III. It has some plantarium probiotic added. After reading some articles saying that the multi collagens did not provide enough of 1 particular collagen type to work well. I don't know if that was meant to discredit the multi-collagen people. The thing is even the big medical groups like Mayo Clinic, Web MD and John Hopkins have finally came out saying collagen is showing help in the studies. I was using the newer Ancient Nutrition collagen peptides that had the egg membrane type collagen along with the Type 1 and II. Promises to work faster. I really did not notice a lot of difference and it costs a lot per serving.

Belinda, nice that you got your walk in early. It is still not that warm here. I started out with a short sleeve shirt as it was supposed to be into the upper 70's today, but I was cold and changed to a long sleeve shirt. I think part of it is that it is so windy. I remember when she mentioned those new ones. I guess I did not remember them being STS. I just remember thinking as much as my shoulder was hurting I was not going to be to excited over weight workouts. I still need to figure out how to keep building up without doing too much. At my age it is probably time to be a bit more careful because the body just does not mend quite so fast when we are older. I am just glad I work out. I thought about going ahead and ordering another bag of dog food when this bag came. I ordered it from Chewy. The thing is, it costs me a lot and I have to buy one bag a month which runs near 70 dollars. Finding the same ingredient weight management dog food is not easy. When we did Vet diet, even the vets office was out and it left me searching for something else. I have stuck with the Blue brand dog foods which my vet recommends, but have had to go to a regular formula a few times as weight management was not available. All of this crazy stuff that is going on did not have to go this way. I worry when I run out of something that I may be doing without. On a good note, my new dining room table is on the road to my house and should be here Thursday at the set time. It has been crazy getting a table. I really do like the Boss Band workouts. I think you would enjoy them. I understand though. I lay out workouts and then end up going to check out youtube and end up doing something there. Something new every day that way. Can't wait till I can do more of Kelly's that she has put up since my surgery and shoulder issues.

Doreen, I always that those breaks from my regular types of workouts are good for me and helps get some new endurance and strength built up even better than before. My arms seem so much less muscle and some loose skin since this whole surgery thing. They are starting to look a bit better. Will look much better when I can get into more of a moderate weight workout. Legs need weight work too.

Jolie, nice work with the weights today. You are doing great with the P90X workouts. I need to clear some more out of my closet. I still have my second closet that really needs clearing and organizing. I threw away a bunch of old blue jeans that I have carted around from house to house. I do not know why I had been keeping them.

Roxie, I have not been to Sams club in years. The closest stores to me are Walmart and Dollar General. My daughter still shops at Sams. Unfortunately my husband would not drink Dr Pepper. Even the barbecue place we go to in town did not have doctor pepper in their machine. What happens is sometimes when I have grocery delivery from Walmart they order things from somewhere else. A lot of the time the items come Fed Ex from Texas. I did not notice the 17.99 for the doctor pepper the first time they put it in an order to ship, when I did see it I had messed up and put pick up. They actually put it in my car when I went to pick up the groceries and when I looked at home they dropped off the 17.99 charge. Last summer it was red gatorade zero I could not find anywhere. When I did I stocked up as much as I could. Amazon had some, at an inflated price. I drink kombucha tea and water along with some coffee. Lots of water though. I hope that you can find a job soon.

Does anyone know a good way to keep red lipstick from bleeding out and to stay on the lips. I bought some Clinique color pop cherry that is supposed to have a primer in it. I wish it stayed better. Boy is it red!! My husband likes red and I thought I would get some.

Today I did Penny Barnshaw 30 min. Cardio & Strength Super Sets No repeats. This was great. Each super set was 30 sec. strength/30 sec cardio. Very short rests, which I like.

Debbie, enjoy your Spring break! I haven't taken out my Kelly DVDs in ages. I really need to do a couple that I love soon.

Belinda, my mom is 87. We decided bringing her to our house for holidays is getting to be a chore and she seems to like her little assisted living apartment. So we are going by her this time. I think she will like that better. That place can sure be depressing, though. I know, there are so many good weight workouts on YT that I haven't tried. I need to do more of Vera's. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed with workout choices and I can't make a decision which to do.

Diane, glad you are released from your doctor. PT once a week should help you to gain strength and challenge you with new exercises. I agree, that shopping is annoying and depressing. I went to Target to get my girls some candy and gift card for Easter. There were no jelly beans and not much of a selection and some bare shelves. Not a big deal with candy, but it frustrates me when I can't get certain groceries.

Doreen, have you looked at Michelle Briehler? You might like her style. She has fun cardio and weight workouts. The time flies.

Jolie, I think I am going to start doing 30 min. workouts and walk her after dinner. Well I have to wait until 8 pm. when everyone is done walking, but she sleeps great at night when she has a night walk. Freakin windy as heck today. The wind almost blew me down when I was filling my car up with gas. So not motivated to walk her. My daughter is taking her on a hike tomorrow. Its usually about 5 miles. She loves it.

Good workouts everyone! Glad everyone is feeling well.

Today I did Coffey Fit Raw Step Boxing doing my own moves for the boxing, although this is a bit slower and I can reach out at some angles. I wanted to see what it is like. They suggest egg weights or light dumbbell to increase intensity. At the end instead of the arm moves I did step moves. This was 29:35 minutes, heart rate 123/142, 2,337 steps.
I then did Cathe Boss bands timesaver legs, glutes and core, adding the stretch from Boss Loops to lengthen stretching and I also did my door frame stretches for my shoulders. Total time was 38:56 minutes, 92/124 heart rate, 100 calories, 503 steps. Total time was 68 minutes, 247 calories, 2,840 steps.

Cam, nice work with Penny Bradshaw cardio and strength. It has been really windy here as well. You have to hang on to the car door or it will slam shut. I was cleaning up after the dog and my bag kept blowing in the air. Then I cleaned the patio furniture, counters, grill and concrete and there is so much dirt all over everything in just a week. They are hauling more dirt up the street for the yards at these new homes being built. They dump and it blows everywhere. It is almost useless to clean. I just do not like looking out at dust all over the window and everything when I get up in the morning.

Debbie, I read that wax pencil liner works. I will try something. This morning I tried a whole 30 lip balm that has beeswax as first ingredient and let it set while I dried my hair, dabbed the excess then applied the lipstick lightly with a lip brush let that set and finished off with another coat with just the tube. So far it looks better than the first try yesterday. Enjoy your rest day and time with your husband. Mine sleeps later since he works at night, but off today. He went out and brought me back a salad:)

Roxie nice work with Beachbody 645 upper body strength.

Jolie, enjoy your walks. My knees and hips have been bothering me lately, even without working out. I am hoping getting moving more will help loosen them up.

Today I went for a 4.2 mile walk outside through the hills, 1 hour 20 minutes and I burned 697 calories. My knee is still sore but not worse so I am going to walk till my Chiro can adjust it. I think the kneecap is not tracking correctly and this is causing the dull pain. I am pretty sure that I did not tear anything because the pain is moving around and not staying in one place, so that is a plus.

I hope you all have a great workout if that is on the schedule for you today. Nice job on the workouts yesterday, we are all doing great! Now, I have to work on my diet like Roxie mentioned yesterday :(
