Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for April 2022!!

We had Easter at my son's house and they grilled and had festivities outside as they have a huge built in grill and patio area for it. Only thing was it was windy and chilly. We were standing around the fire pit to keep warm. It was pretty. Wish it was not so windy though. They had the birthday cake and birthday's celebration indoors. We have birthdays almost every month of the year as family grows so we do them each gathering. I bet there were a couple 100 filled eggs to hunt. It goes quick as there is usually money and this time Chic-fil-a gift cards in some of them.
Monday was PT. Yesterday I did CDorner Butt and Abs which is mostly body weight with a band segment in it, 54:50 minutes, 164 calories, heart rate 103/149, 1,661 steps.
I followed that with Raw Get up and move and modified cardio finisher, 16:52 minutes, heart rate 118/140, 82 calories, 1,894 steps. Total time was 71 minutes, 246 calories, 3,555 steps.
Today I did CDorner Intermediate Step Aerobics live #200, 33 minutes, heart rate 112/140, 141 calories, 2,6674 steps. I followed with using some of Raw shoulder and neck limitations and worked in PT exercises. This was 52 minutes 114 calories, heart rate 85/114, 1,715 steps. I finished off with CDorner mobility flow, first 21 minutes, heart rate 76/92, 31 calories. Total time was, 1 hour 46 minutes, 286 calories.
I have two appointments Friday and two next week for doctors and testing. Not looking forward to the trip or the tests. I hope to have a decent cardio workout tomorrow as I just did not seem to be able to get my heart rate up much today.

Belinda, nice that you got a walk in and workout on Easter. Great job on the Iron series posterior chain today.

Debbie, I have two side by side refrigerators. One in the garage and one in the house and they are full. I miss the freezer as it could not be repaired something about the door warped so it would not seal. The French door refrigerators are nice.

Doreen, that was some Easter. My daughter had to give her dogs something once as when they cleaned their garage and had things setting out the dogs ate rat poison. One did most of the eating from what they got to come back up. They lived through it, but were scared for them. Mine has never got in the trash or seemed interested. Amazing that your dog figured out how to get through the locked dog door. Mine is in the storm door so I can close the main door. Also it does have a slide in door cover to keep her from using it. Great job with the workouts.

Cam, hopefully the coyote moved on. I had a cocker spaniel once and a coyote killed her. My daughter keeps two dogs as she says two would have a better chance in an attack than one alone. Nice work with the ab definition. It does seem to help cutting carbs and limiting dairy. Enjoy your walk with your dog. It is in the 80's today, but still windy. They keep talking about severe storms possible.

Debbie, nice work today and yesterday with Box and Pump. Those workouts are fun and time goes by quick. I hope the Xray went well and maybe you can find a solution to the problem. My heart goes out to you and your family with the upcoming funeral. I hear you on the eating. I have good days and bad days. Holidays and eating out a lot is tough to keep on track.

Jolie, that beach sunrise service sounds beautiful. I remember going to a couple in the hills as a child. I am glad you had a nice long beach walk with your husband.

Hi to Roselyn :)

Today I did ICE Chiseled Lower Body Blast + abs. This was a perfect lower body metabolic workout. This one is definitely not a wimpy workout and if you include the Blizzard Blast, it's quite challenging. My neck/upper back has been achey this week. I am not sure what triggered it. Today is a little better. Hopefully tomorrow I will feel good.

2 coyotes were found dead down the road from us. Somebody killed them. This has happened before and the coyotes were dumped in the same spot. Weird. We have not seen the coyote in our yard in 2 days. Not sure if that was one of the ones killed.

Debbie, that sounds like good news for your knee. Hopefully PT will help. Do you do any mobility stretching? Maybe that would help take away some of the aches and pains.

Diane, you are doing good. You are doing step already, that's great. I almost did one of her step workouts today but not sure if the bouncy movements would've aggravated my neck more.

Belinda and Doreen, good workouts! I agree with 30 min. workouts. I have found some good ones. If nice weather ever arrives, I am definitely taking it down to 30 min. Penny Barnshaw has some great ones that leave me breathless. I will have to start a 30 min. YT library.

Good workouts everyone!

This is day 4 off of workouts since my mom is visiting and I am going crazy. I am trying to spend as much time with her as possible and to be present for her, instead of doing my workouts and other things. My knee hurts a lot, I am going to message my doctor to get in and get an X-ray, I have a feeling that maybe there is a tear or something, but I am not sure. I can walk, though it hurts but it doesn't make it worse and there is NO swelling or bruising. I want to get my chiro to adjust it because it kind of feels like my Patella is not tracking correctly. Who knows, I am like Debbie, why do we have knee pain. They told me that if you are Quad dominate that it can pull the muscles and tendons under the knee. Maybe stretching will help. I will try to get in a walk tomorrow and then start working out again.

Debbie, great news on your knee, at least there is no serious damage. My Chiro says that if you have strong quads, it can pull the kneecap and that can cause pain. Check into this and see if that is an issue. I hope your BIL service goes well tomorrow. Hugs for you.

Great job on the workouts this week everyone! All I want is to be pain free, is that too much to ask? Make it a great day.

This morning I started a 30 minute Ride on Ifit and then decided to get the dog out with me on my bike and did a loop around the neighborhood. Its been nice here so I was glad I decided to do that. I'm thinking I could start moving my weights back out to the deck for outside workouts in the mornings now too - it should be warm enough and light enough to do that before work now.

Hi,

Today was a rest day on Caroline's schedule. I did ended up doing a SBF barre workout. I will fly to TX to see my son and DIL on Tuesday. I am so excited. Sadie is flying with us.

Debbie - my heart goes out to you and your family tomorrow. That is good news on your knees. Maybe you want to get an MRI. The pain has to come from somewhere. Sorry for what you are going through.

Diane - you are doing amazing with your workouts. Can't believe how far you gotten. Are you still in pain?

Cam - I have a ton saved on YT. They are amazing workouts. 30 min is all I want to do right now. Great job on your workouts.

Good night.

Today was windy but 67 degrees. I took a 2.5 mile walk followed by Penny 30 min. No Repeat Cardio & Strength Super Sets. Each super set was a 30 sec. strength and 30 sec. cardio. A 10 sec rest. She really moves it. I liked it and will do more of those this summer. Supposed to hit 80 on Saturday. Yay!

Debbie, hope everything goes ok this weekend. I know it will be difficult.

Jolie, hope your knee gets better.

Doreen & Belinda, good workouts today.

Today I did 3 workouts combined, I started with CDorner Hiit Hip Hop, but she started going down and up from the floor and I had hoped to modify the 8# weight moves she was using, I followed from there with Cathe Cardio Party Hi/Lo mix stopping at the stretch, finishing with Ice Low Impact bonus blizzard blast. This was 49:28 minutes, 200 calories, heart rate 113/140, 4,769 steps.
I finished off with Perfect 30 Flow timesaver mix 2 strength & flexibility & Mobility basics, 34 minutes, heart rate 82/105, 63 calories, 111 steps.
Total time was 83 minutes, 263 calories, 4880 steps.

Debbie, I am glad the x-ray results showed nothing significant. Maybe PT can help. As I told Jolie below, I had an x ray and ultrasound before they finally did the mri on my knee. I was still working out, I just took more days off and kept slowing down on the workouts as it hurt so much afterward.

Cam, I figure when I feel some discomfort or have pushed something wrong. As far as step, it seems like it would be okay if the workout did not have a lot of jumping. I think the Blizzard blast bonus was probably pushing it a bit today. I did the jumps onto the step but stepped off. I am okay though, but I think too much of that could be a problem. Plus, one of the reasons for the bone scan tomorrow is because in the past I had some stress fractures, one mid back, and another.
With the neck, I found the rebounder aggravated it, as did jacks and squat thrusts etc. I loved doing it but had to back off. I feel that the step is a lot easier on my neck and shoulders than doing kickboxing. I love kickboxing though. Kelly Coffey does so much of it. I really want to do them, but not ready yet.

Jolie, I think that the posterior chain gets neglected a lot and not worked as much as the front of the legs. Balance is probably key there. When I had a torn meniscus, my knee was swollen after working out. I had an ultrasound, then an x-ray. Finally, they did an mri and that is when they found what it was. Also, I know I have arthritis in my knees and my surgeon said there was more than he expected when he did the surgery on my knee.

Doreen, it would be nice to work out outside. I bet your dog enjoyed going out with you.

Belinda, I know you will enjoy your visit with your son and daughter in law. Nice that Sadie gets to go with you. I have some pain off and on. Sometimes it is just my neck and trap issues. Sleeping can still be an issue. Once I get up and move my arm around and stretch some it lightens up. It feels pretty good today. I was afraid it would be hurting after yesterday's workout.

This morning I started a new series on Ifit by Casey Gilmore - an advanced strength for lower body. He keeps it moving and I like his leg work - not so much the ab work with bands but I think if I did it again it would go better.

We are going to try to get the boat out this weekend. Just for Friday night and Saturday since my daughter will be gone.

It was going to be a rest day, but it was so horribly cold and rainy today, so I did IMax 4. I actually worked up a good sweat. Now that I got the choreography down, I worked it pretty good. I was going to do CDorner Mobility but 5 minutes into it I had to turn it off. She has that Donna in it, who is so distracting. I don't know if she has some sort of disability, but she is extremely uncoordinated. She has a big red nose and seems drunk to me. I don't know why Chris has her in the videos. Shame on me if there is something cognitively wrong with her. Anyway, I also took my dog for a power walk. It stopped raining, but it started lightning and thundering. We made it home just in time.

Diane, you really are kickin it! I don't think I did too much bouncing with IMAX 4, but I just don't know. I am less achey today, but I never can figure out what I do to trigger pain. I am pretty sure it's my posture sitting at my desk at work this week. I always feel good on the weekends when I am moving more.

Doreen, have fun boating. It's supposed to be 80 tomorrow in my neck of the woods. Can't wait. Where do you live?

Roselyn and Belinda good job with Caroline!

Have a good weekend everyone!

My visit with my mom is over, now I am back at it again and feeling good about it. Even though my knee still has pain, it is sort of traveling around so it is not just one thing I guess, I went for a 4.6 mile walk through the hills and boy that felt amazing. Walk was 1 hour and 30 minutes and I burned 749 calories. I think my Tibula and Fibula are out of alignment because I did a slight adjustment to them, and the pain went to the other side of the knee. If it was a tear, wouldn't the pain just stay in the same place? I am going to Urgent Care next week for an X-ray and I am also going to get my leg and knee adjusted. Note, there is NO swelling or bruising at all, just a dull pain, not sharp. I might try wearing my Patella strap and see if the support helps.

Debbie, I hope the memorial service for your brother-in-law went well. I am sure that was a difficult day for everyone.

Diane Sue, what was it like with a torn Meniscus? I have no swelling at all just a pain located right below the kneecap. It actually feels like the kneecap is rubbing or pushing on the tendon. Great job on the workouts this week!!!

Cam, great job on the Imax 4, wow that is a tough workout. I can never get the hang of step workouts except the kind like Yvette Bachman. Wild weather for the US right now, winter just doesn't want to go away.

Roselyn, way to go with the Iron full body workout!

Doreen, I hope you have a great time on the boat!

Belinda, nice job on the Iron full body workout!

Make it a great weekend!

Checking in with Perfect Pump Mish Mash combined. I loved it. This is really a great dvd. Cathe must have thought of me when she made this. Ha!

It's beautiful here today for a change. Going to take my mom a milkshake and a walk. Get her out of her room.

Does anyone have Cathe's Low Impact Challenge dvd? I am thinking of getting it. It looks like a little more of a choreography and cardio challenge, which I like.

Jolie, hope your knee feels better. When I lived in AZ, I hiked often, but my knee couldn't handle it. It would swell up and was painful. I don't know if it was the uneven terrain affected it, but since I have moved back to WI and don't hike, I haven't had any knee problems. Weird.

Off to enjoy the beautiful 80 degree day!

Today for cardio I started with CDorner Low Impact workout but got discouraged after 14 minutes as my heart rate stayed between 88 and 115, 38 calories. I stopped to mess with my phone settings and it popped up and said Garmin found?? So I did Burpee Girl Dance Aerobics fat burning, 30 minutes, heart rate 134/162, 213 calories. This is the second of hers that says dance and I don't see it as dance. Maybe the music? But I like the movement patterns and liked the music. I then did CDorner Arms and Abs with bands, mixing in my PT exercises and skipping the second biceps series and the triceps and just did PT moves. So, I paused where needed to do PT moves that were timed. I used the strength setting on my Garmin and when I needed the timed portions I pushed the button to start and stop that set so I could time the moves for 4 to 5 minutes that we time at PT. This was 51 minutes, 134 calories. I used 5# dumbbells with tubing for the scapular squeezes I do with the machine. 3's for the lateral raises, and rotations, 5# bar for reverse grip pullover. I finished off with CDorner Chair mobility stretch 30 minutes, 49 calories. I have had several of my loop bands and bands be sticky and tearing and breaking. I need to get some new ones. Total time was 2 hr 5 minutes, 434 calories, and ended with 6,257 steps. I probably had around 600 less than that though as I forgot to check before starting. Tomorrow is rest day and Monday PT.
I got through the bone density scan and mammogram yesterday. She was careful of my shoulder. I usually takes a couple of days to hear back from my primary doctors office for results.
We had a big storm tonight and the rain poured with hail and a tornado warning as it went over us.

Cam, I have that Cathe workout. I have done Low Impact Challenge a lot. It is in the Low Impact series. There is a bonus that you can add to it that does the step and you use some light dumbbells for some of the step moves and a bit of gliding discs, I think they used the discs for going down and slide out to push up and back up. It has been awhile since I have used it. One reason is I had put the Low Impact series in my secondary workout room because it has a spin workout in it as well. Have you looked at that one on the workout manager to check out moves on it? I have all of Cathe's dvds so far except an ab compilation she did. As far as I know I have not missed purchasing one of her workouts. I always think I will wait, or I don't think I will use the workout and I end up buying it. I haven't been to AZ in years. Remember climbing rocky areas out in the desert as a teenager. I am glad you really loved Cathe's mish mosh. I often find mixes that I like much more than the original way the workouts are put together. I hope you have a nice time with your mother today.
I think Donna is a friend of Chris as she talks about things they do and going shopping with her. She teases her. I noticed in one of the recent workouts that Donna was not moving well and seemed to favor her shoulder. Wondered if she has some problems. The first one I saw her in, she sat on a couch and made comments while drinking something and making noises and comments throughout. I found that one somewhat annoying and wondered what she was drinking. Then other times I think she just has a goof off personality. Chris had one of her chickens she named Donna. She did not bother so much in the yoga, but it was not a favorite. I prefer Chris by herself in a lot of the workouts as she does it a bit differently and there is not so much distraction. Not complaining though as I like her workouts and it is free.

Belinda, that is great that your son and dil have the weights and equipment so you can still workout while visiting. I hope you had a nice rest day.

Jolie, do you think there is pressure caused on a nerve or something? It is weird how pain moves around. My pain with the torn miniscus was felt on the right side of the left knee and a lot along the right back side of the knee. Not on the knee cap. I tried wearing a sleeve and bought knee freezie wraps. I finally went to the doctor when it started hurting so bad and sometimes it would give out when I would try to stand up. I had learned to get up cautiously. Plus the last thing I did that really hurt was hitting the weights and then deciding that since we had nice steep stairs in the back part of the house to the workout room, I would run up and down them. That was a big mistake and it really hurt.
I bet it did feel good getting out for the walk. It always feels nice to get back to normalcy and be able to start the day right.

Hi,

Iron shoulder with Caroline is done.

Roselyn - I agree with you on Caroline. I am already thinking repeating the Iron rotations. I love it so much. I love the slower pace and focus on form. Maybe she comes out with something different, still slow and controlled with her next rotations. Great job!

Diane - glad you made it through your bone density scan and mammogram yesterday. I am glad DS/DIL has everything I need to get my workouts in.

Debbie - how are you doing?

Cam, Doreen, Jolie and Roxie - hope you all enjoy your Sunday.

Today I went for another walk outside, 1 hour 35 minutes, traveled 4.7 miles and burned 838 calories. It got hot out very early today so I am going to have to start walking earlier in the day now that summer is right around the corner. I think I might do Cathe's Gym Style Upper Body workouts this coming week, I have not done them in a long time, but I used to love them. There is no way that I will be doing all of those darn pushups, I will sub in Chest Press instead.

Diane Sue, my pain is on the right knee that I have always had trouble with, and the pain is on the inside below the kneecap and right below the kneecap. After looking at a diagram of the knee, maybe it is the Patella Tendon? I know for sure that my leg is out of alignment on the lower part of the leg as well as the upper part. It feels totally twisted so I have to have it adjusted anyway. Great job with the workout yesterday! I have to get my mammogram this summer too.

Cam, great job on the workout yesterday. Enjoy your lovely weather and your visit with you mom.

Roselyn, great job with the Iron workout! I might have to try those soon.

Belinda, have a great visit with your son. I will try the iron series soon, but I guess I have to forget about the leg portion for now.

Make it a GREAT Sunday.

Today was a cleaning day. I scrubbed my floors and I took a 2.5 mile walk. It was rainy this morning but turned out to be a nice day. Windy but sunny and warm. Now the cold is going to hit again. Ughh! I am getting tired of this pattern.

Good workouts everyone!

Hi all! Things went as expected on Thursday for my brother-in-laws service. It was very touching since it was through the VA and they did a 21 gun solute and played Taps, which always gets me. My poor husband was so distraught but seems to be doing ok now. It was a hard day and it is still hard to believe we won't see him in this life anymore. My heart hurts just thinking about it.

We got our new refrigerator home on Friday and spent the last three days redoing our kitchen due to cabinets needing switched out or changed. It was 80 degrees both Saturday and Sunday so it was very beautiful. I was able to stain the cabinets outside. I hate staining. Anyways, it all looks great now and I love my kitchen. The fridge is da bomb!

I am taking a recovery week in hopes that my knee gets better. It has been pretty good this weekend, no pain but I'm still having issues bringing my foot up to my butt to do a quad stretch. I am going to make an appointment with my PT this week, I just emailed her in fact.

I only walked on my treadmill for about 25 minutes and then did the leg portion of RAW Athletic Stretch. My hamstrings are so tight, it's crazy.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!
