Getting Our Licks In!

We got 16 inches of snow!!! Starting Tuesday late night & all day Sunday. I still haven't got my DVD's? I thought I had ordered UPS but now I need to go back & check my order.... It's been such a terrible tease to hear about the new workouts on FB..

Monday was Pilates & Ski
Tuesday was Pilates & then I did Cardio Fusion for the first time even though I got it while ago...it was tough to get the choreography from Body Max 2 without it broken down so I did the best I could.
Wednesday I took off as my inner thigh/ medial hamstring was really tweaky and uncomfortable, not in a DOMS way but a pulled way...
Today I decided to do Upper Body so pulled out GS Back, shoulders & Biceps which used to be a favorite of mine & then abs from GS FB & stretch

Janie: well sounds like you guys made the best out of something that could have turned into a fight or a bad day. That's so awesome for you both!!

Michelle: I'm so jealous!! I want to do Cathe's yoga!! I keep intending to do yoga 2-3 times a week but so far it hasn't happened!

Cat chick: sounds like a kitty pile! Bo calls m cat woman because both of our kitties insists on sleeping on me & never him ... Sounds like your workouts are picking up! That's exciting, huh.
.

I never got back on Wednesday to finish my post. HOWEVER, let me just say--I was feeling yogamax yesterday (Thursday), particularly in my core and triceps. I particularly noticed my core muscles yesterday when I was doing the core portion of 4DS LIS. I can only attribute the good DOMS to yogamax the day before.

Well, I'm glad we just have cool weather and no snow. Laura, I know you folks in Colorado tend to like snow so I am glad that you got some this early. I got my new dvds on Monday, I think that sister got hers on Tuesday or Wednesday, so you should be getting yours soon (maybe even today???)

Did I mention that I am upgrading to an IPhone 4S. I ordered it a couple of weeks ago and it is at the Verizon store waiting for me to pick it up. DH and I are going to go up to the store a little later this afternoon. A new techno gadget--oh boy. I'm excited to be joining the 21st century in terms of the technology but a little less so about the learning curve. I'm an old dog who is a creature of habit. Hopefully the learning curve is a gentle incline--LOL!

Little later today I will do 4DS bootcamp. That will mean a second shower because I had to get up early to go to Quantico this morning for a meeting. Oh well--that's the way it goes sometimes.

Hope everyone is having a happy Friday.

Didn't post last night because I was watching my NEW DVD"S! Joey and I are spent from the work we did at the Beach House. We pulled up every bit of carpet, took most of the nails that were holding it down, out. It took longer than we thought, but seeing that all our projects are doing that. So grateful the carpet is out, now I'm hoping that dreadful smell will be gone as well. If it doesn't, I don't know what to do to mask it. Any suggestions? Thinking ahead and be preparing to at least search for something/product to do that.:( Next step, paint the floors to help seal in that smell and wash the walls with a degreaser. We got the heat working and saw that our windows have heavy condensation on them. We will have to get a dehumidifier in hopes to solve that. In the mean time, will make long thick strips of fabric to put in-between all the windows to catch the water.

Joey decided not to workout today. I don't blame him, the over night stay in our motor home is not what it use to be, and we didn't bring the right pillows to get our rest. Lack of sleep and lots of work the day before and more lots of work yesterday, made us tired. However, Got a little bug in me and did yoga max. Has been awhile since I did any yoga. Wasn't good at it of course, but the more I do it the easier it will become. Usually see improvement when I do yoga very quickly. Not normally in the body, but the act of practicing yoga. Let's hope it's still that way.:)

Michelle, Great job on the long walk with Ripken. How is the old boy by the way? Also good job on DS kick box. You did Yoga too? I love this one! I'm thinking like you and want to get it in at least 2 times a week, preferably 3. Good DOM's. Can't wait to feel mine tonight or tomorrow.:) Happy for you and your new toy. IPhone 4S. Our beach house works with new tech. We now have those new phones everyone is using. LOL:D We are behind the times, but not so much, any longer. (kinda, sorta):)

Renee, Must be a man thing you think? LOL. Just glad it doesn't happen too often. I think you are there my darling. You are doing so well on all your workouts. It took awhile, but I knew you would do it. I have so much inspiration from you. Very proud of you! You can only improve from here on out. Yeah! You love being a teacher, I can tell. My sister is having problems being one. She seems to spend all kinds of hours everyday being one. Is that normal, or is my sissy just putting to much pressure on herself? Awe, a little cat dog. How sweet! Your kitties are all so adorable. They have a good mommy.

Laura, 16" of snow already? Hummmm, sounds like skiing time to me. Don't worry, you'll get the DVD's soon. I know how it feels when everyone gets them and you are still waiting for them. Great job on all your workouts. Looks like you have a great rotation week. How is your hamstring doing? I hope you didn't pull anything.

Well ladies, have a wonderful day,

Janie

Wow--this has been a busy weekend. Yesterday I was constantly in motion. Walking Ripken, cleaning house, doing laundry, 4DS Bootcamp, and then went to see Chelsea in her high school marching band at a competition that just happened to be in the Fredericksburg area. They got the best score on all categories and were rated superior. It was good to see the youngster. She sure is growing up. But that is what they do.

Today, after walking Ripken, making breakfast, and doing yet some more laundry, I did 4DS HIS. LOVE THAT ONE! One more day on the October rotation and then on to November and the new workouts. Looking forward to seeing the 3 rotations that Cathe is going to post for the month.

Jane: sounds like you have had a most busy week. Little by little, you guys are getting there. Slow and steady wins the race. How are your triceps and core feeling today after YogaMax? Sister is much happier now that she is back to doing Cathe workouts just about every day. She is working on getting her endurance back. She did TotalBodyTrisets Lower Body this morning and she said it was tough. But it wouldn't be a Cathe workout if it wasn't tough. Looking forward to trying more of the new workouts this week.

Okay--next I need to check the Apple website to learn more about my new phone. Hope everyone has had a great weekend.

We bought Pergo (from Home Depot) for my master bedroom and bathroom. It is like a denim color. So unique and in love with it! I also picked out the bedding I want for this room. It's called Georginga Ruffles Quilt Set, Floral, (Walmart) but there is no floral in it that I could see. They're more like horizontal shaggy stripes. But the colors are remarkable. It will look just awesome! We picked out the living room carpet and it will be the same in the Reading/Computer room. Its called Safari, (Home Depot) it's like a Winter Cream color. The rest of the house will be Pergo Vintage White Pine (Home Depot). Oh my, is that ever beautiful! Then at Costco, we bought floor registers for both houses. :D

We think we know how to get rid of the smell. We bought a mold killer/odor and control solution. We will put it on the floors before we paint them. That should take care of it once and for all. Hopefully?

This is so exciting. We will go To the Beach House on Tues. and finish pulling up nails, sweeping the floors, putting mold stuff on it and spend the night. If that is dry when we wake up, then we will degrease the walls. That's our goal anyway. And then come back home to Shelton.

Michelle, It was a busy weekend for me too. Lots of cleaning, laundry, looking/shopping around at things for the Beach House... Great job this weekend on walking Ripken, & 4DS BC. The marching band sounds like a fun time. The best score on all categories, congratulations! Also great job on today's walk with Ripken, 4DS HIS. I'm going after this post to see what Cathe is up to on her rotations next month. Hmmm, hope I can find it. I have DOM's big time, and that is by doing yoga. That surprised me. Such good news about Renee doing so much better. Give her a hug for me will you?

Have a good one,

Janie

Happy Monday. Boy, Mondays seem to come around so fast. Last day of October--DH has Halloween Duty tonight with the trick or treaters since by the time I get home, the kids will be done. This morning Ripken and I had a beautiful, long walk. Yes, it was chilly and we had frost on the ground, so I'm bundled up and Ripken is just as happy as he can be with his natural fur coat. Did the last workout on the October rotation: STS disc 32, week 3 plyo legs. Love to hate those plyo leg workouts--wondering what Cathe will have in store for us for November. I haven't checked yet to see if she has posted any of the November rotations.

Janie: yes, YogaMax does give you DOMs. I was amazed too. Who would have thunk it? You and Joey have been very busy and you are helping the economy. I am intrigued by the denim colored flooring. Will you use throw rugs in the rooms with the Pergo flooring or just leave them bare? Next, will you be picking out paint for the walls?

Hi to everyone else: Laura, Shoegal, Shadowpup, and sister.
Michelle

Sorry, I have been MIA but things have been busy. After my last fight a few weeks ago I took 10 days off and did nothing related to fitness and got up to speed on house work and other things I needed to do. My husband and I also had a long talk about my fighting. Since I started years ago he has been VERY SUPPORTIVE! Even when I told him I was going to take up cage fighting he was VERY SUPPORTIVE! When, I'm in training he picks up my slack and plays mom.

For the past two months I've been feeling guilty about all the time I spend away from home. It would be different if this was my full time job, but this is my hobby my release. When I was just doing the boxing It was once every two months that I was really committed to the training and spending more time at the gym than at home. Heck and that was only about two weeks. Now with the boxing and cage fighting, it seems as soon as I'm done one fight its time for anther fight. I LOVE fighting, but I also LOVE my family and I need to find a happy balance. I hate but love that its 7PM and I'm in the cage or ring sparring / training and I start thinking about my kids and how I should be home with them helping them with homework instead of playing Rocky. I know its not good when your in the shower at the gym and start crying over the guilt.

My husband and I spoke and I told him that in 2012 I would give up fighting in one sport. However, I just don't know what sport!! I have a full plate the rest of the year, a cage fight on the 11th and than Dec. 24 a boxing match. However, its not only for my husband and me, its also for my kids. My youngest asked me a few questions: “Why, do you always have to fight and get hurt?” & “And how come you tell me not to fight but you do?” Still have not answered that one all the way yet.

I hope everyone is doing good.

Liz

Wow Liz those are some tough, tough choices and questions from your youngest! It think it is hard for many woman to balance their careers and families, and even if fighting isn't your 'work' it is your passion and does require what seems like the equivalent of a job. I think your idea of choosing one sport to focus on seems like a good balancing act. I know it will be tough to choose, but if you are so racked by guilt it seems like something has to give and obviously that won't be your children and you still get to do what you enjoy! Maybe one year you could shooed boxing and the next year it could be cage fighting?

I still haven't gotten my DVD's and my computer is down and can't access my email files were I keep my order confirmations from my mobile devices for some reason! I am very frustrated?? Which ones are you favorites? They all sound so great!!

Halloween was fun. The girls looked awesome as Cleopatra & Medusa. I posted pics on FB if you are interested. Bo's brother and a friend of his was in town for a week so I have been busy entertaining and there were several Halloween parties over the weekend.

Last week I did the GS series, which used to be my favorites until STS so it was fun to revisit them. I had serious DOMS from that wicked drop set of pushups.. But my cardio suffered last week....

Yesterday I taught Pilates & tonight Total Tone. I need to get on the cardio from now to Christmas!!!

Michelle you are doing a great job on those rotations!! Ghastly Cathe posted November's rotation yet? I will have to go check but since I don't have DVD's yet it will just seem like a tease!!! What do you think...

Janie : sounds like you & Joey have been busy fixing up the beach house! Can't wait to see pics! You got the new series right? I think I recall you mentioning the yoga too!

We are working too hard at our beach house. My legs are sooo sore! Talk about DOM's. Remind me, it's a good thing, right? With older houses you seem to keep finding things that need fixing. Seems Every couple of steps we take forward there is an opsticle that sets us back a step. But we're getting there. The people who put this one together must of had a nail/staple party because we are still pulling them up. I got all the nails out of the walls and ceilings, used bleach on the floors with dark areas, and started doing the walls with this solution. I guess I had it a little strong, cause my eyes started getting irritated a little. Sleeping in the motor home was much better this time, had a nice pillow and made everything comfy. The next day continued on until I just exhausted and literally couldn't do any more. Joey is like a energizer bunny and kept going and going. I finally told him I've had it and need to get back to Shelton. Oh, and the smell is getting better and better as we clean.

Rode my bike to the beach (only took a few minutes) to get some fresh air and there was not a soul on the place. I've never in my life have gone to the beach and no one was there. An eerie feeling, but it was all mine at that moment. I went up on a sand dune and could see the earths curvature! I've never seen that before. So breathtaking. This is what it's all about.

Liz, I have many things I'm doing at the same time too. Not physically like you but in crafts. It's hard to let of things you love to do. I'm sure you'll find the right balance for you that will fit your life style. (((((hugs))))). Having time with family, I agree, is most important.

Laura, OM My! Wonder why you don't have the DVD's yet. You must be sooooooooo frustrated! Sounds like you are having a no good very bad day. I can relate.;) Sounds like Cleopatra & Medusa has a great time. I'm going to look at the pic on FB after this post. Glad you had a great Halloween season. Sounds like you had a good time. I think having serious DOM's is a good thing. Good for you! Glad to see you revisiting the GS series. I love that one too. Great job on teaching Pilates and Total Tone.

Have a great one ladies,

Janie

I've been on travel to New Orleans and haven't had time to post or when I did, I didn't have internet access. I can't remember if I checked in on Tuesday--I think I did not--did Afterburn on Tuesday. LOVED IT! The exercises with the discs take a little getting used to but they are fun--have your dixie cups ready on this one as well. Glutes and Hammies will be smiling afterwards.:)

Yesterday, I had technical difficulties with the dvd player in my hotel room so I just did a 15 minute stretch. I was so looking forward to YogaMax again. This morning--back to the normal routine: walk Ripken for an hour, then hit the workout. This morning I did CardioSupersets. It's alot like Afterburn--Cathe works in some good core work on both Afterburn and CardioSupersets. Loving the new workouts.

I need to catch up on what ya'll have been up to while I've been south. Be back later (I hope) for personals.

WOW Liz--I just read your post and wanted to respond with some thoughts right away. I think women just naturally feel guilty more easily--whether it is about working and not being with your family or doing something else for yourself and not being with your family. I realized long ago I would fail the balance act between career and family miserably--I also would put too many expectations on my own children to excel, so I opted out of the parenting role. No children.

Your youngest IS asking some hard questions. My immediate thought is that there is a difference between fighting as a sport and fighting out of anger or hate. You train for fitness reasons and you compete to test your physical skill, agility, endurance, and to test your self-control while fighting out of anger/hate/strong dislike is different. The later is about having power and control over someone else in a physically threatening--and illegal--way. That is not what motivates you to fight and nor are you the type of person to behave that way and you do not want your son to behave that way. I don't know how old your youngest is and I might be using concepts that he doesn't fully appreciate/understand yet. But maybe these ideas will help you find a way to answer him.

Let us know how these discussions go.

Laura: hope you get those dvds soon. It always seems to take a long time for you to get your preorders. Hmmmm.
~michelle

Michelle, Oh, I'm so sorry for not responding to you! I must have missed this one. Sounds like you had a great time with Halloween. Walks with frost on the ground means the air goes right through ya. Burrrrrrrrrr! Congrats on the last workout STS disc 32. Yeah! Denim flooring: I know, very unique, it was on sale for one day. I'll have a cream color throws in the bathroom and bedroom, plus I'm planning on crocheting a rug for the bedroom too. I've already picked the wall colors throughout the house. Swiss Coffee. It's light and warm at the same time. Glad to know your trip from New Orleans was a safe one.

Take care,

Janie

Today I did step moves, I am starting to really like that one ! :)

I found my order confirmation slip and sent an email to Cathe support so I hope to hear or receive my videos very soon! Has anyone checked out the STS & LIS rotation! That looks wicked!

Michelle your response to Lz was very thoughtful!

Joey and I did TBS, abs and stretching. I felt some extra energy today so did Turbo Bar. Oh My Lord! Loved it, but man I can tell I will have some serious DOM's. Every now and then I had cramps in my butt. LOL I just layed off a little and continued on when I felt better. I didn't have enough strength left for a stretch, which I needed badly. I'm afraid of LI Challenge Step Aerobics, it looks too fast. Eventually I'll get around to it. Very Scary.

Michelle, I thought your response for Liz was very good too. Hope she's able to read it.;)

Laura, Great job on SM, I love that step up.:D I checked out all the rotations Cathe has up. It is so good of her to take the time out to do all of them. She's spoiling us,:) and I like it. Hope you get your DVD's very soon.

Janie

Just finished Yoga Relax. I love this! Also used my roller on my butt. Feels so much better now. Whew! Will be going to the beach house either Mon. or Tues. and spend the night.

Janie

Didn't get to post yesterday: did Low Impact Challenge. It's a great step workout. I recommend that you preview before doing. It doesn't go too fast but Cathe has some new moves in there and I didn't preview so I was a bit of a challenge, but lots of fun. It reminds me of RS and Step Moves--once I learn the choreography, it will be super fun.

Today, I did Trisets Lower Body--get your dixie cups out ladies and get ready to feel the burn. WOW! What a great lower body workout. I had to modify the one legged squats in the last triset but look forward to the day when I can do that one. Even Cathe had to modify on the second go round. I'm loving these new workouts.

Laura: can't believe you have not gotten your dvd package yet. I'm sure Chris and the crew will help you out.

Janie: it sounds like you've got all the major decisions made on fixing up your new beach house. Now, it's just a matter of time. Can't wait to see the pictures when you are done. I haven't done the TurboBarre dvd yet, but we did turbobarre at the roadtrip this summer. We are so lucky that Cathe thinks up these workouts.

Hope everyone is having a great day.
~michelle

Beautiful day, finally, here at the marina. We are sitting amongst all the packed boxes watching the Redskins/49ers game. Hard to believe we are coming to the end of another season.

This morning I did Yoga Relax. True to it's name, it was very relaxing. Helped my Dixie Cup DOMS (DCDs) from Total Body Trisets Lower Body that I did yesterday. Cathe is right--we will never look at dixie cups in the same way again.
