Getting Our Licks In!

Sorry I've been missing. We've been busy preparing for back to school and crazy schedules, camping, and I was taken out for a couple days last week with strep throat. The good thing from that is I'm the most well rested I've been in years and it feels great :) Exercise isn't as much as I want and need it to be but I plan to get that turned around next week. Food has been bad lately and I need to get my focus back because that's the key for me on whether I lose or gain.

Michelle - You're going to be feeling those legs! The due date is coming up quickly!

Janie - Sounds like a blast with your UFO group and it takes courage (at least for me) to sing in front of others, great job!

Cindy

Walked the beach and did yoga tonight.

Michelle, Great job on starting Cathe's Sept. rotation. How does your legs feel? DOM's I bet. I hope Cathe has already started her DVD's in-between all her other projects. Lets hope so anyways. LOL

Kathy Sis, Great job on Lean Legs and Abs. Oh NO! Get the foam roller out. Glad your back is feeling better, kinda scary isn't it? My foot has twinges of hurting, but maybe because my bones are fragile. I have a feeling they may be. I'll be doing a bone density check up sometime soon to fine out.

Cindy, Summer is a busy time, glad you decided to get back here. We've missed you! LOL I think we've all been a little lacking in the food department. Let's just get back on the band wagon. I need it so badly!

Take care everyone,

Janie

It's nice to have everyone back on the forum. I started Cathe's September rotation on Wednesday (great glutes), Thursday (cardio of choice: IMAX3 step only premix), Friday (XTRAIN chest, back, and shoulders), today (Step Max). My body really wanted a break day today but I'm trying to hold off until Tuesday. We'll see how that goes.

Kathy: I thought about you at the U.S. Open and the rain last week. Lean legs and abs is one of Cathe's workouts that always hits me about 5 minutes after I finish it. Do you remember after which exercise your back started to hurt? The September rotation is a mix of old, not so old, and new workouts. So far I'm enjoying it.

Cindy: welcome back. I was started to worry that we might have lost you. It's got to be challenging to get your workouts in when you are juggling the schedules of three children plus working outside the home. Eating right is always a struggle for every one of us. You are definitely not alone in that battle.

Janie: how is your foot feeling? I hope better.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!
Michelle

Yoga again tonight. It was in the low 90's today and was way to hot to go to the ocean, so I played my guitar a lot today. Starting to learn a couple new songs.

Michelle, Great job on starting Sept. rotation on Wednesday (Great Glutes) and doing IMAX3 step only prem. and Friday's Xtrain chest, back and shoulders and for today's Step Max. Listen to your body. My foot is still sore. I must have bruised the side of my upper right hand foot.

Take care,

Janie

On Wed. my back was as good as new. Wed. night was BB shoulders & on Thurs. it was back & bis. Fri. was a rest day. Rough first week back at work.

Sat. started the Bulk phase of BB. Its one body part per day. I was scheduled for Chest. He was unbelievable. He went at warp speed which I did not like. He has you doing giant sets, forced sets, progressive sets. You name it its all there. Arms were flaming! Today its Legs. Wish me luck. I hope I can walk after. At least with this new phase I can put in more cardio. Will do one of the X10 workouts after my leg routine. I think. LOL

Michelle: I do remember which exercise it was. You're holding onto 8# dbs & you put your hands while holding the dbs on the floor & throw your leg behind the supporting leg. Come back to the starting position & put the dbs up over your head. Hope that makes sense. I must have torked my back while trying to get back up. Luckily it wasn't bad at all. I see you can't stay away too long from Cathe with the Sept. rotation. LOL I feel the same way. No matter what rotation I'm doing I always manage to put a Cathe workout in there.

Janie Sis: Our weather here has been sweltering. Can't wait for fall weather to roll around. Good job on your yoga. Have you thought about PiYo? Check out some youtube clips. You might enjoy Chalene Johnson. Have fun practicing your guitar. My DH is learning some new songs as well.

Cindy: Its great to hear from you. Believe me when I say that your one wonder woman to juggle everything w/3 kids. It gets easier the older they get. Just do your best & forget the rest as Tony Horton says. LOL

Take care,
Kathy

Joey and I rode are bikes through the neighborhood and had the best time. We were out about 45 min. I plan on walking the beach with Rolly later, and later still do some yoga.
The starting of yet another zentangle/doodle drawing. This person is looking at her reflection in a hand held mirror.

Kathy Sis, Great job Wed.BB shoulders and on Thurs back and bis and on Fri. your rest day. Glad your shoulder is better. Starting out on Sat. the bulk phase of BB. (Sounds like something I want to do.) When lifting heavy to bulk up, I agree, speed should not be in there. How did legs go? Wrap speed? Our weather today is about 50 compared to yesterday's 90+. Fog bank came in and saved us. In a matter of an hour yesterday we were in the low 60's. Crazy! But I love it. Ocean weather for ya. LOL I have thought of PiYo. Just might get it. Hmmmm. I do like Charlene Johnson, so it's a good match for me. Giving support through cyberspace to your honey in learning new songs to play.

Take care,

Janie

XTRAIN biceps and triceps today. I really do like the weight workouts from the XTRAIN series. I think they are among my favorites. Two days from now I should know how many pups are in Seiko's litter. I spoke with the breeder on Friday.Seiko is scheduled for a c-section Tuesday morning at 11 am. It has taken 3 breeding attempts to get Seiko pregnant. The repro vet wants to make sure there is nothing going on inside her uterus that she needs to be aware of. Diane (the breeder) and I are both nervous; although she is probably more nervous than I am. She said that Seiko is doing fine, sweet as ever. And Seiko started producing milk on Thursday which apparently canines do a few days before they have their pups. She will be a great mommy no matter what the size of the litter.

Kathy: BB sounds like a tough workout. Don't forget there is always that thing called the pause button. Also, don't forget that every X10 workout includes weight work which you might not want to do on top of the BB workouts. I wish that X10 had a cardio only premix but is does not.

Janie: you go girl with the new songs on the guitar. You are inspiring me to get cracking on my Rosetta Stone Italian lessons. I've put it off long enough. It's not like I've never taken a language class and this is self-pace.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Yesterday was BB Legs + Rapid Fire #4 Sweat the boxing mix only premix + abs. That was one intense leg workout I must say. I started out heavy but due to the no rests with all of the progressive sets you do you have to go light. That suited me just fine. Sagi has one guy in the background by the name of Eric I thought he was going to faint at one point. LOL That dude needs to have his head examined. LOL He really should've lightened up on his barbell. Men!

Tonight's BB Arms which is bis & tris. Probably giant sets, forced sets, progressive sets you name it its probably all in here. I hope my arms don't fail me.

Michelle: Xtrain is my all time favorite Cathe workouts too. I did remember that X10 has weight work in it but I'm good for changing my mind. I decided to do Susan Chung's rapid fire #4 Sweat instead + I love her ab work. I will pause that Chest workout due to the speed. Sagi is ridiculous in it. He's doing a compound fly with a chest press & going so fast you can't possibly keep up w/him. Not to mention he's holding onto 50#dbs!!!! :O I hope & pray all goes well for Seiko's litter & you'll have yourself a brand new pup very soon.

Janie Sis: I'm sure your new doodle picture will be beautiful. They always are. Your weather sounds like ours crazy! Saturday was sweltering, Sunday was gorgeous in the 70's as well as today. We'll probably get to 82 on Thursday. Your foot must be feeling better. Enjoy your day today.

Take care,
Kathy

Took a rest day today to get some art in.
Progress on the drawing: Made a few change in the drawing from the real model. Eyes, nose, forehead are the same, lips are fuller on the bottom, made longer eyelashes and darker around the eyes too so it looks like she has make up on. Other than that, this looks like Amanda (my model)
I'm calling it "Passing Through". You are some beautiful lady! I want to thank you personally for being my model.

Michelle, Great job on XTarain biceps and triceps. Sounds like progression for a puppy. Keep us posted on how it goes. I'm glad I'm inspiring you to get cracking on Rosetta Stone Italian lessons. You go girl! Yahoo!

Kathy Sis, Great job on yesterday's BB legs and rapid Fire #4 Sweat the boxing mix only prem. and abs. Glad you listened to your body and lesson the load of your weight. Got to be a toughie. Yep, my foot is feeling better. Thanks Sis.

Take care everyone,

Janie

I had a good day yesterday and am feeling like this is a good start to getting back on track. Food was within range and I busted my bum at the house to get things taken care of so I would have time to exercise. I tried a suggestion from a Cathe.com thread to do Millionaire Hoy Hiit workouts, I love kickboxing so I did day 1 of his kickboxing Hiit and it felt so good to sweat and get my body working. Tonight I'll do day 2 and then Wednesday morning I plan to get up early (so hard to follow through with) and do Yoga since my SIL will be staying with us that night.

I feel like I haven't been able to commit to anything with diet so I'm not going to restrict anything, that just isn't working for me right now, but I am going to try calorie cycling. I figure this can give me a higher day on Saturday to enjoy some extra treats but then will keep me controlled the rest of the week. Fingers crossed I can get focused again.

One thing I've done to help my sanity was taking time on a Sunday to make 6 freezer/crock pot meals. It only took me 1 hr 15 min to get the ingredients, put things together, and clean up. This will cover me for 2 nights (cheer and Tae Kwon Do require dinner to be ready the minute we walk in the door) that are harder on me.

I can tell Fall is in the air and I love Fall the most out of all seasons but they're calling for possible snow tomorrow and I'm just not quite ready for that even though it would melt right away. Summer went too fast :)

Thanks for the encouragement, you ladies make me feel better!

Janie - I love seeing the progress you made on the drawing, she is so beautiful and you have a beautiful touch. Great job getting your walks in, enjoy that warm weather!

Kathy - I love that you're hitting it hard. Can you imagine if the guy had passed out?

Michelle - Awesome work! I'm anxiously awaiting puppy news :)

Last night was BB Arms (bis & tris). Those forced sets are HARD. Its 5 sets of 5 reps. Had to be careful of my bicep tendon. Wouldn't want to be in pt again. Triceps wasn't any easier either. Glad its over with.

Janie Sis: Your picture is really materializing right before our eyes. Beautiful model you had. Can't wait to see the finished product. I'll have to ask DH to buy me the doodle kit for Xmas. I'd love to try it. Happy to hear your foot's all better.

Michelle: Hope you have a great day.

Take care,
Kathy

Today was my break day. No news yet on Seiko's litter. Yes, today was the day and I am trying to be patient. The breeder asked to give her until tomorrow to let me know how things went, so that is what I am doing. It's hard. I keep wondering is she not calling because there was a problem or maybe she is just tired and everything went okay. And how many pups? Males? ARGH!!!! I'll know soon enough.

Cindy: I don't know about the calorie cycling thing but if it works then go for it. You are right: commitment is key. Those yoga workouts can surprise you. Any chance your SIL would join you for a yoga practice? Prepping meals ahead of time is good. If it was me, I'd just skip eating at night. I think my DH realizes this would be my go to position and that is among the many reasons that he does dinner. Fall is flirting with us here on the east coast too. But, I am sure we will have a few more hot days this month and next.

Kathy: you know it was a good workout when you're glad it's over but you feel good about it.

Janie: I've been following your new drawing on FB. Looks really great. I just can't get over how talented you are in the creative/muscial arts.

Hi Everyone

I think most of you know my sad news about Sophia passing on May 31st. I have been coping the best that I can with this new horrible reality I have found myself thrown into on the heals of my long and drawn out divorce. Somethings just don't make sense in this world and I don't imagine they ever will..

I hope everyone is doing well....

I have been working out when I can muster it and recently finished STS Meso Cycle one

I think of all of you and have missed you

Had another day of drawing and a yoga. I missed my walk on the beach and it was glorious out today. Tomorrow for sure, hopefully the weather will stay nice.

Cindy, Great job arranging and doing health wise goodness for your body and soul and spirit. Great job on Millionaire Hoy Hiit kickbox workout. Yes, sweating makes since to me being a fantastic workout. Good for you. Will have to look up Millionaire Hoy Hitt workouts. OOOOO, I love calorie cycling. It works big time. With the diversity of exercise and calories, you body will be so confused, and you will loose weight. I'm going to do just the same thing. Thank you for the inspiration! Love the idea of freezer crock meals. Bet it saves tons of time during a busy week. Snow? That's crazy! Summer is my favorite time of year, and it's almost gone. So sad.

Kathy Sis, Great job on BB arms (bis and tris). Do be careful and listen to your body. Maybe a day of a lessor workout to keep the body guessing. YOu are doing so well! I'm happy for you. I didn't know you were interested in doodling. It's sooooooo much fun, you are going to love it! I can't wait to see something from you already!

Michelle, Good going on your rest day. We all need at least one of those a week. I can't wait to here the news about the dogs. YaHoo!

Laura, I have missed and thought of you every single day. You made my year coming back here to us. Missed you kiddo! You certainly have been dealt to many hands at once. I'm so proud of you for taking things one day at a time. The processes you are going through is truly not for the weak. You are strong and you will be OK. Let time be on your side. Love you, xoxo. Great to know you have been exercising and finished STS Meso Cycle. The best thing you can do for your soul and body right now. Truly. Hugs and continued prayers.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Last night was BB Back. Another great workout. Sagi made a comment re Nick, one of the guys in the background about an ambulance having to be called at the gym for Nick!!! :O OMG! He wasn't in the Back workout but he's in all the others. These guys are animals btw. Watching Sagi hoist up 65# db for one-arm row is impressive to me. Don't worry I'm not lifting anything that heavy. Just up to my 25#s. I'm getting there as I was at 30# before I got injured. Tonight's Shoulders & will need to be careful w/this one. Forced sets & Progressive sets are hard. I'll also do Rapid Fire #4 Sweat abs. Love that one.

Cindy: Great hearing from you. You've been missed. I used to carb cycle not calorie cycle from Ton Venuto's ebook quite a while ago & worked well for me. I too in the Fall do some cooking on Sunday for my lunches to take to work (stews & chilis). I pack up my protein shake, lunch & a snack for the afternoon. I eat 5-6 meals a day which has always worked well for me. Sounds like your off to a great start w/preparing ahead of time your meals & the exercising. I looked up the Millionaire Hoy Hiit kbing workouts but there all on you tube. Can't view them at work. I'll try to view them tonight. I never heard of these. Snow? Already? Say it isn't so. LOL

Janie Sis: Don't worry I'm being careful w/how much weight I'm lifting. Thx for caring dear friend. I'm not on Facebook so can't view your progress of your drawing except for here. I'm asking DH to buy the doodle kit for me at Xmas so it'll be a wait until I can post a picture. I highly doubt it will be anything as beautiful as your work. I haven't drawn anything in such a long time. I'm more of a photographer which sadly I haven't done in quite a number of years too. I used to be such a creative person. Don't know what happened.

Michelle: I'm sure everything is fine w/Zeiko. You'll know soon enough & keeping my fingers crossed. Glad you took a rest day.

Laura: Its wonderful to hear from you & to know that your doing so well w/all you've been through lately. Exercise is good for the soul. It puts your mind in a different place even for a little while. Are you still teaching pilates? Stay strong. Hugs to you.

Renee: Come out, come out wherever you are! LOL

Take care,
Kathy

I didn't get yoga in yesterday and wound up having some wine with my SIL rather than exercise :) I needed after my crazy day at work. Tonight I'll do day 3 of the kickboxing Hiit and I'm looking forward to it. The snow came, very minor and it won't stick as we have sun and warmer weather coming this weekend. My kids were at least excited but it was hard pulling snow pants out this morning :)

Laura - So glad to see you back here. My heart broke with the news and I continue to pray for you!

Janie - I'm glad you're joining me with the calorie cycling :) It is too early for snow! At least I know it's very short lived right now.

Michelle - Have you heard yet about the pups? I hope it's all good news. There are nights I don't want to cook but with little ones it all falls on me.

Kathy - I really like kickboxing and the Hiit kickboxing is a fun quick way to get it in. Those are some heavy weights! I can feel the pain just thinking about it.

Last night was BB Shoulders & this workout just blew me away! Couldn't muster up any energy for cardio afterwards let alone abs. Sagi made us do Progressive sets, single sets, supersets. Thought I could use my 20's & started doing my reps but only made to 4 reps just had to go down to my 15's. Used 17.5#s instead of the 20's. Not there yet. One of Sagi's crew, Ron, just couldn't go anymore & had to use only his bodyweight. I know how he felt. This Bulk phase is slaying me for sure.

Tonight I'll do one of the premixes to Dressed Up Drills. I haven't tried combo #5 yet.

Cindy: I too love kickboxing. I'll check out the Millionaire Hoy Hiit kbing tonight. Did you purchase the dvds on Amazon? Does he do Hiit drills in between the kickboxing combos? I'd go for the wine too in place of exercising any day. LOL Glad you had fun. I'm sure it was hard putting on those snow pants already. After the winter that I had in NY I definitely don't want to see snow any time soon.

Michelle: Hoping you got good news re Zeiko's pups. Please let us know. We're just as anxious as you are.

Janie Sis: Did you get a chance to walk the beach? How's the drawing coming along?

Take care & enjoy your weekend everyone,
Kathy

The electrical company turned off our electricity to work on it. Been without power for awhile. We're back and running. Rolly and I did a walk on the beach and believe it or not did yoga already today. Now I can work on my drawing some more. It's getting there, and has been my most challenging one so far. It was suppose to be one of my nieces, but I didn't really have a good picture to go by, and truly does not look like her. So, I now say her spirit is guiding me. LOL

Here is more progress on my drawing "Passing Through" I can't wait to get it done.

Kathy Sis, Great job on Last nights BB Back. LOL about Sagi making comment on Nick. Too funny! You are so close (5#'s away) before your injury! Yea! I'm cheering you on!

Cindy, Sometimes a glass of wine and no workout is just what a body needs. Have a good time doing your workout tonight. Talk of snow pants makes me cringe, I'm not ready for Winter either.

Kathy Sis, Great job on BB Shoulders. Sounds like it would be way to strenuous for me, but glad you are able to do Sagi workouts and indeed improving each and every time. Good for you! Bulk away girl!

Take care everyone,

Janie

Hi everyone. Long busy week. I skipped exercise on Wednesday because our AC wasn't working and it was just too warm in the house, but I did go to PureBarre in the afternoon. Thursday, still without AC but but bearable for exercise so I did Slide and Glide cardio only premix and another PureBarre class at noon. Had the AC unit replaced Thursday afternoon, so we are cool again. Did Push Pull today. Now for the puppy update. Seiko had two pups: one male and one female. Unfortunately though, no pup for me. The breeder is keeping the female and the male is going to her son who just lost his golden. So, I will continue to wait until the breeder does her next set of breedings at the end of this year/beginning of next. I'm not happy and I have my moments where I'm pretty blue about the whole thing but I just have to suck it up and deal with it.

Janie: your new picture is beautiful. It's not done yet? Wow--can't imagine what else you are planning to do but I'm looking forward to seeing it. Good for you sticking with the yoga.

Kathy: these BB bulk phase workouts sound tough. Shoulders are toughest for me. You are lifting some hefty amounts.

Cindy: I heard that there was snow someplace in the US and wondered if you had gotten any of it. Now, I know that you did. Sometimes you just have to have a glass of wine. :p

Laura: welcome back. We've been keeping you in our thoughts and prayers and Janie, sister, and I have been following your journey on FB. So, so hard. I am inspired by the strength in your thoughts and and reflections that you have shared on FB. It is great that you just finished STS Meso 1. I've been thinking about you alot lately because I know that you had signed up for the Daytona roadtrip. Are you still going to attend? I hope that you do. I think the experience and all the positive energy would be good.

Hello to my ever-lurking sister.
Michelle

Yoga this morning and planning on a walk to the beach later.

A little tweaking here and there, but it's done. "Passing Through" done in pencil and ink 14" X 17".

Michelle, Don't blame you for not wanting to workout in hot weather. Great job on doing PureBarre in the afternoon. And for Thursday's Slide and Glide cardio only prermix and yet another PureBarre. And for today's Push and Pull. Awwwww, so sorry you didn't get a pup. There are other breeders, yes? I so want you to have another pup. Does it have to be with this breeder? I know Ripken is in the bloodline, but...Just, I know you need a puppy and I don't think you have to wait and for sure suck it up.

Take care,

Janie
