Getting Our Licks In!

Another day of Yoga Relax, might try yoga max tomorrow just to do something different. Good full day of work.

Janie: got to love those beach walks with the pup--during your bike rides does Rolly ride in a bike basket?

Hi to the rest of the gang. Hope everyone is getting their licks in.
Michelle

Fast walk on the beach with Rolly for 20 min. and walked 20 min. Tonight is a yoga. My eating is suburb. Healthy, right balance, and food to lower cholestrol. Rice, black beans, garlic, onions eggplant, quinoa, tomatoes stuffed in red peppers. My own version of vegetarian stuffed peppers. I tasted it and it is soooooooo good before they went inside the peppers. Roasted the eggplant, browned the onions and garlic in olive oil. then put the rest of the ingredients together, stuffed them in peppers and are in the oven until peppers are done cooking. On 300 degrees for about an hour and a half. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. We try to eat meat 3 times a week and the rest of the time vegan. We are trying anyways not to eat too much meat. LOL

Michelle, Great job on Yoga Relax. During bike rides Rolly stays home. But are considering doing that so he can be with us. Spoiled he is. LOL!

Take care,

Janie

The weekend went too fast but it was fun. The parade was perfect and Lily was in her element doing her cheers, kicks, and cartwheels. I'm going to have to watch a few of the boys in the crowd that were yelling "Lily T" to get her attention. Dave wound up not running so he was able to take care of the boys. We need more wood but we got a decent start and it was nice catching up with the IL's. They rarely come see us so we have to go to them if we want to visit. I received my PiYo DVD's yesterday and started the PiYo/P90X3 rotation last night. Sculpt was the first DVD and there was quite a bit of burning going on :) Tonight is AgilityX though I really want to just dig into all the PiYo DVDs and try them out right away!

Janie - Glad you had some visit time with your family. That meals sounds delicious! I try to get us to do no meat for 1 meal a week and I get looks from Dave. Tonight is vegetarian but maybe he won't notice :) Great job keeping food superb!

Michelle - Yoga feels so good! Nice work getting your workouts in even when you're away from home.

Cindy

Did a 20 min. Jane workout, combination of leg work and cardio. Rainy day so no beach walk. Had white fish tonight, about 4 oz. with rice, garlic and onions and chicken broth. I added broccoli to the mix. LOL

Cindy, So glad you enjoyed the parade, sounds like Lily did her job perfectly. How did Dave take care of the boys? It's hard truly on older folks to go. Try to be patient. Great job doing the new workouts PiYo/P90X3 rotation last night. I know what you mean, I'd be doing the new DVD's too. LOL I think one meal for a meat dinner once a week is great. I'm understanding now how important it is to not eat so much meat. My cholesterol is on the high side and raised a red flag. I'm eating less when we do eat meat. Meat to us is chicken or fish or turkey. That's all, but still have to be very careful.

Take care,

Janie

Sorry I've been MIA busy weekend + a lot of work. I've been keeping up with my BB workouts even though I've been busy. Saturday BB (chest) + KCM's Bootcamp Cardio only premix; Sunday (Legs) (DH & I went out for brunch); Monday BB (Arms) + Rapid Fire Results ab section & Tuesday Rapid Fire Results Cardio combos 1-4 + stretch. Tonight is BB (Back) + will try to do Turbo Fire's 15 Class if I have enough energy after work. Chalene packs a wollop in just 15 min.

Janie Sis: Its interesting that you say your eating some meals vegan. My lunches this week have been a Protein Bowl (recipe from Oxygen mag) where I roasted on the grill broccoli, red pepper, shitake mushrooms mixed together in a bowl w/quinoa, black beans & salsa. Yum! I too try to eat fish 1x a week. Hope you enjoyed your time w/your family. It would be too cute to see Rolly in a basket on your bike. Consider it. When you say 20 min. Jane workout do you mean Jane Fonda?

Cindy: That must've been fun at the Fall Festival. Sounds like Lily enjoyed herself too. I feel the same way you do when you receive new workouts. I just want to tear right into them & do them immediately. Enjoy the PiYo/P90X3 workouts. Let me know what you think of PiYo.

Michelle: Glad your able to do yoga every day despite all the work you have to do. Your a trooper!

Take care,
Kathy

Dave did his Physical Therapy workout so I did PiYo Sweat and boy did I sweat! I was dripping and my muscles are feeling it. I wore my heart rate monitor and was a little annoyed that it said I only burned 191 calories, felt like a lot more. I need to keep wearing it during workouts so I can see what my true burn is. Tonight I'll do PiYo Core and I'm aiming to get up and do a Pilates or Yoga workout on Thursday morning, I need to just set it in my mind that I will :)

Janie - Dave was able to get Brodie to his float and then keep Lucas with him. I was worried I'd have to do all the drop offs and drag Lucas through the parade with me. I think my frustration with my IL's lies in them driving long distances to visit with my BIL's family and kids but we don't get the same treatment even though we're closer. I'll never understand it :) Great job on the healthy meal and 20 min workout!

Kathy - Great job hitting it hard! I love workouts that get it done in a short amount of time :) I'm liking PiYo, definitely will need to do them a few times so I can flow through as seamless as she does.

Last night I just did BB Back. Couldn't get up enough energy for Turbo Fire's 15 Class. Tonight's BB Shoulders. I'll try to do some form of cardio too. Not sure what yet.

Cindy: Happy to hear that you sweated up a storm w/PiYo. When I did that one I sweated quite a bit too. I heard Drench is similar to Sweat but flows faster & I believe new moves are in there too. I liked Core too. I hope you enjoyed it. Did you purchase the Strength workouts? I just purchased the basic set. I don't blame you for being frustrated w/your IL's. I don't understand it either.

Its dismal here in NY. Makes you just want to curl up in bed with a good book.

Take care,
Kathy

PiYo Core was good, some moves I don't normally do and I could feel the abs working :) The DOMs haven't hit...yet! I picked up a FitBit One through our Wellness department yesterday (had to earn it by logging health points) so I will be able to track my steps, sleep etc. It's nice that it can work with SparkPeople since that's where I track my calorie intake. So far it's fun! No exercise today since I have wine club tonight. We're going to a local painters studio to do cocktails and creativity where she teaches us some painting techniques and we get to enjoy wine and snacks while we paint. Should be fun! Tomorrow I'll get back on track.

Kathy - I'm looking forward to trying drench, which will be tomorrow's workout. I didn't get the two additional strength workouts, did you? Sorry for the dismal day, we're having record highs (80's-90's) with lots of sun.

Cindy

Got back home late yesterday afternoon. Tuesday and Wednesday were both early days. Didn't exercise either day but picked up with where I left on Cathe's September rotation today: Party Rocking Step 2. I find this one harder than PR1. The choreography is easier but for me the workout is much more intense. I was just happy to make it through the whole thing.

Janie: you definitely need a bike basket for Rolly so he can come with you and Joey on your bike rides. One of the perks of having a small breed dog is that you can carry then along; just cannot do that with a golden retriever.

Cindy: Fun times with Lilly. Will this be her second or third year cheering? Good start with the PiYo workouts. I also am thinking about a FitBit--more like asking DH to get me one for Christmas. Sometimes family members' behavior is just hard to figure out. It's hard not to take it personally and feel frustrated. Just wondering if your DH has ever broached the subject of the difference in treatment with his parents?

Kathy: dismal day here yesterday and today but we needed a good rain and we finally got it. You are knocking it out of the park with your workouts. Everyone is getting their licks in these days.:)

Dog show this weekend in Millwood VA which is just east of Winchester VA--it starts tomorrow and runs through Monday. I'll probably go on Sunday. Have errands to run tomorrow and my second cousin is getting baptized Saturday. Dog shows have to suffice for my golden retriever fixes for a while and there are not many in the fall before things really slow down in November and December.

It's good to be home.

Last night came home to find DH sick in bed. :( Made him soup & gave him some TLC. Made dinner for me & DS. Just chilled last night. Dismal day so much rain & throat was scratchy that's why I decided not to workout. Tonight will pick back up w/BB Shoulders & Rapid Fire #3 abs. I'm finding though that I miss my cardio. With BB rotation it concentrates so much on strength training & only one day of cardio. And its difficult for me to find short but intense cardio workouts. Can anyone help me out w/this?

Cindy: Happy to hear that your enjoying another PiYo workout core. I too liked that one. I've never purchased a FitBit but did hear good things about it over at video fitness. How was the wine painting party? What did you create? Sounds like so much fun! Wish I was there. Lily must be in her 3rd year of cheer isn't she?

Michelle: Glad you got back home safe & sound. It does feel good to be in your own home. I too find that RPS #2 is harder & much more intense than #1. But I happen to love both workouts. Wish I could go to the dog show w/you. Who's going w/you? Renee?

I'm hoping for a speedy day today at work.

Take care everyone & enjoy your weekend! We're supposed to have temps in the 80's. Yipee!

Double Wave Pyramid and STS ab circuits w/ no equipment this morning. Then after a quick shower and throwing on some clothes, I went into the 'burg to get my hair done. I always feel like my head has lost 10 pounds after I get my color, cut, and blowdry. Then bopped over to the Spotsylvania Mall to buy my little second cousin, EmyLou, a couple of outfits. We are going to her Baptism tomorrow. I opted for buying cute clothes just because she is growing out of everything from the baby shower way back in the spring and the little girl stuff is so darn cute. The grandparents can do the traditional Baptism gifts. I've been looking for a stuffed golden retriever dog but haven't found one yet. I keep telling Brian and Kristin that EmyLou needs a puppy. I think they are waiting for Joe and I to get another golden and bring him over to their to keep Emy entertained. Everyone is just going to have to wait a little while longer before that happens.

Kathy: hope you don't get sick. Make sure to get plenty of sleep, eat right, and wash your hands. I also think exercising regularly helps to ward off the germs too, so hopefully you will not catch whatever your DH has. Right now looks like I'm solo for the dog show on Sunday. It's about and hour and 15 minute drive from my house but it is NW of where I live; too far for sister to drive up for a day. Plus sister is headed to a VaTech football game tomorrow so she will want to be a lounge lizard on Sunday. Cardio suggestions: tabatacize, HIIT 30/30, HIIT 40/20, double wave pyramid, IMAX3 step interval only premix, ROKO cardio only premix, Slide and Glide cardio only premix, and Crossfire has some good premixes.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Hi to sister, Cindy, Laura, and Janie.
Michelle

Been walking fast on the beach except for today. Took my time. Weather is gorgeous out side. Will soon be starting to paint again with acrylics and getting some color back into my life. I first have to finish my tangle I started. LOL But I'm getting stuff ready to do it.
Joe just made his bed and Hig-one-one is relaxing on it. Purely Joey's kitty. She's such a love bug and had to share her.

Kathy, Great job for keeping up with BB workuts even when you are still busy. Proud of ya! For doing Sat. BB chest and KCM's Bootcamp Cardio only premix. For Sunday legs and Mon. BB arms and Rapid Fire results ab section and Tues. Rapid Fire Results cardio #1-4 and a stretch. Whew, very good for you! MMMM ymmmmmm that Protein Bowl sounds amazingly good. I'm from now on and doing so now eating more vegan meals and less meat/fish/seafood. Sooooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooood! The Jane workout I'm talking about is my own version. LOL!

Cindy, Great job on Dave for physical therapy and you with PiYo. Love it when we sweat! I need to get a heart rate monitor. Awww, I know what you mean about favoritism. It's hard and sometimes hurtful. (hugs xoxo)

Kathy, Great job on BB back. That is when I bring out my books too, when it's dismal outside. Or maybe art work. LOL!

Cindy, Great job on PiYo Core. Nice when you can feel the workouts working. Yea! Good job on picking up a FitBit One. Enjoy your rest day and wind club night. OOOOOOO what did you learn in the way of painting?

Michelle, Glad to have you back home safely. Great job picking up with Cathe's September rotation. Party Rocking Step 2. Will have to get a basket for Rolly and teach him to stay in it. Enjoy the Dog show in Millwood.

Kathy Sis, Oh no, not good when hubby's get sick. Remember to take honey and cinammin oil to stop what ever you might get from hubby. With most of the cardio that Kathy has, her premixes are really good for a shorter workout. Hope that helps. I do a lot of that and find it works for me.

Michelle, Great job on Double Wave Pyramid and STS ab circuits w/ no equipment. Nice you got your hair done. Awe, I bet EmyLou will look fantastic with her new outfits. Hope you find a stuffed golden retriever her.

Take care my dear friends,

Janie

Just finished Pyramid Upper Body. Got the workout done a little later than usual today because we were up and out this morning for my second cousin's baptism. Then my cousin and cousin-in-law hosted a lunch at the restaurant down the street for the family. Very nice occasion and EmyLou only cried during the baptism ceremony; otherwise she was very social, napped, or had her bottle. A really nice family gathering; I'm glad DH and I attended, although he kept sneaking off to watch the VaTech football game in the bar area. I'm pretty sure my cousin wanted to join my DH to watch college football but he didn't dare.

Janie: cute kitty cat. You know that I am a dog person, at heart, but cats are okay. Now, sister-she is the crazy cat lady; if she is lurking, she will appreciate the kitty cat picture.

Hi to the rest of our gang. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and getting their licks in.
Michelle

Today believe it or not have done my yoga and I'm off to walk in the woods with Rolly right now. It's beautiful weather. Maybe, if I feel the energy will do a weight workout tonight. Will post again to let you know.

Michelle, Great job on Pyramid Upper Body. I love those workouts. Sounds like the baptism was a lot of fun. Hmmmm men. LOL! Sure hope you get your little fur baby soon. (hugs). I'm so anxious for you and not at all patient like you.

Hardstrikes cardio plus core 1 premix today. After I post, I am headed outside to do some work in the yard. We are having some beautiful weather and it will only last so long. Time to do a little TLC for the yard. I like the new design of the forums but this is going to take a little getting used to.

Janie: you are the early bird today with your yoga. You sound very energized. Maybe it's the nice weather. Yes, I am resigned to being patient about getting a new puppy. I'm going to send my breeder an email and ask her to put together a list of things I should get in preparation for getting into conformation. I'm also thinking that I will ask her if it is common for an established exhibitor to "train" someone on what to do to prep before a show. I'm thinking one way to be trained is to volunteer "my services" to her in the new year to my breeder if she is willing to take me under her wing at shows to assist and learn what she does to prep before going into the ring. That way I can get a sense of what conformation is all about. It's one thing to go watch a dog show; a whole other to participate. I need to start learning about the "participating."

Hope everyone is getting their licks in.
Michelle

Tonight was a walk with Rolly. Just a few times around the very long driveway we have here in Shelton. I have an appt. to talk to a dentist who specializes in gum grafting. I have a tooth which is on the dangerous side of loosing it. Not looking forward to the actual gum graft, because I hear it hurts. But it needs to be done.

Michelle, Great job on Hardstrikes cardio + core 1 premix. We too are having beautiful weather. Been taking all kinds of photos! OOOOOO, it sounds like with the puppy you do get you will want to show.

Saturday was BB Chest + Core #1; Sunday was Plyo Legs #1, however, way too many lunges b/c today my left knee is hurting; tonight will be BB (Arms) + Core #2.

Janie Sis: I was LOL over the Jane workout. Didn't realize you did your own workout. Too funny! The pic of Joey's kitty is so cute & very pretty. I'm a dog & cat lover. I hope it won't hurt too much w/the gum grafting. Doesn't sound pleasant. Rolly must love his walks w/you every day. Good job on your yoga & also your vegan meals.

Michelle: Sounds like a lovely time at the Baptism. That's too bad you went to the dog show by yourself but I know you had a good time anyway. thx so much for all of your cardio suggestions. I'll make sure I look into those.

Its taking me too a little time to get used to the new website. I hope I posted my reply correctly here.

Take care
Kathy

This morning I did Muscle Max. I wasn't sure whether I would have time to get the whole workout in, but I did. I wasn't in the best mood when I started the workout (yeah, woke up in a blue mood) but exercising helped a little. I don't know why, but I'm really missing Ripken right now. Probably, in part, because I know it will be a while longer before we have another golden. I know it will be worth the wait, but it makes me think about Rippy more. I'm pathetic.

Kathy: I ended up working in the yard yesterday instead of going to the dog show. Plyo legs can definitely put a hurting on your knees. Hope it is short lived.

Janie: I agree with Kathy, the dental work you have ahead of you does not sound like fun. But better to take care of the problem sooner than later. If I am reading your post correctly, you are back at your main homestead. Does that mean you can put a little more variety into your workouts? You have been a patient soul not pushing your foot. I don't think I could be that patient.

Hi to Laura, Cindy, and my lurking sister.
Michelle

I lost my post yesterday and ran out of time so I'll try to re-do it! Thursday was a lot of fun and we're going to do it again in November :) I have problems with just jumping in on things like that but did it and Lily has requested I put the picture in her room. We painted flowers and she had a great suggestion of putting a base layer of light yellow down so if there are any "unpainted spots" they don't come through as white and look unfinished.

Friday I did PiYo Drench and it's true to it's name! Saturday was errands and chores then Sunday we went to the Hay Bale Maze and I did part of KickMax. Last night I did PiYo Buns and tonight I'll do PiYo Strength Intervals. Food has been good and the scale is going down so that's great motivation to stick to it.

Michelle - You'll always miss Ripken and not having a puppy to snuggle and get licks from is hard to wait for! I hope your blue mood went away and great job exercising no matter what your mood.

Janie - So sorry about your gums, that sounds painful! Great job on all the walks and enjoying this Fall weather.

Kathy - My knees will do the same if I push a bit too much, my left knee is a little sensitive right now so I'm having to baby it a bit :( Lily is in her 2nd year of competitive cheering but 3rd year overall, time goes way too fast!
