Getting Our Licks In!

Rolly and I walked on the beach for 30 min. Did Total Body Sculpting tonight. I can still feel a little soreness so still taking it easy on that foot.

This is the beginnings of my next drawing, 11" X 14". It's the "Love Of Playing The Quitar". It might be called "Love Of Music". I put this on FB so I'm encouraged to work on it. LOL

Cindy, Yum, a rhubarb margarita sounds absolutely good. Great job on Pilates class Sat. morning. OOOOOO camping, always a great time. Also for the 1.5 mile hike, wow and carry Lucas, and for doing the kids tumble and cheer homework with them. Empressed! Yea for holding the bridge position for 10 seconds. So glad the kitty is a perrrrrrfect fit for the family. LOL

Kathy Sis, Great job on Sat. for doing KCM's Muscle Up lift 2 Be Fit, shoulders, arms and abs prem. And for lifting 12#'s. You go girl! Also for Sun. ROKO prem and the ab section to lean legs and abs. Thank you for your concern of my foot. I'll try to be very careful. I don't want yet another injury.

Michelle, Thank you for posting a quick post for us. I can't wait for more details! YaHoo!

Take care all,

Janie

Last night I did Muscle Max Lower Body premix. I amazed myself by actually doing squats with a 40# bb. First time in a LONG time. It felt so good. I had no pain at all in my right shoulder. The next exercise were lunges with a 30# bb. I just picked up my 2 15# dbs instead. I didn't want to chance the shoulder pain returning. After MM I did PiYo Define Lower Body. This is mostly all yoga poses. felt good after MM.

Tonight will be ROKO #1. Finally nailed that combo #5 & I'm determined to finish this damn workout. LOL

Janie sis: Love the start up picture of the guitar. I know its going to turn out beautiful. Glad your able to walk on the beach w/out the foot hurting.

Michelle: Thx for posting even though I know your exhausted from roadtrip & catching up on the job. Excited to hear all about the RT. I was trying to pick you out of the group picture but everybody's so small I can't tell which one is you. LOL

Take care,
Kathy

Did a light workout this morning: 21 day fit pilates. A little something to get the muscles going but didn't want to overdo. Will be back to Cathe workouts tomorrow. The roadtrip was great this year. Cathe has posted pictures from each class on facebook. The first class was kickbox, then the Friday night stretch. Brenda, Cedie, and Al showed up after dinner and sister and I got our picture taken with them and Cathe. Saturday morning was the marathon: first class was step, second class was body pump (weight lifting), third class was spin (complete with live DJ), and then another stretch class. I really liked the body pump class; it was a nice change of pace from the bootcamp class that Cathe usually does. And Cathe did the spin class this year. In the afternoon, we had a legs class--used weights, bands, the barre, and floor work. Meals are in Cathe's studio which is the gathering place for non-workout events (eating and socializing). Cathe went around to each table after each meal to talk to people and autograph dvd covers and STS/XTRAIN booklets. I think that approached worked much better. Sister and I were among the first groups to do the 15 minutes of fame with Cathe Saturday night and then we bagged zumba and went back to the hotel and were asleep by 9:30. Sunday morning it was challenging to get up at 6 am to do the last class at 7 am. The last class was over too soon and I think it really was the cherry on top of a great roadtrip. The brunch also is provided in Cathe's studio and we didn't hang out too long after eating. Sister and I went back to the hotel, took our showers, packed up and hit the road for home. This year the roadtrip did not seem as hard. I don't know if it was easier or I'm just in better shape. Looking forward to next year already if sister is in.

Today was a cardio day so of course Rolly and I went to the beach and walked about 30 min. My foot is getting better, I can tell.

We had UFO tonight and the hostess hubby was there. He plays the guitar as well (much much better than me) and I played with until it was time to go home. Had a marvelous time! I was challenged to stay on beat, and I did my best but during that challenge, I believe I moved a little forward in playing the guitar. Hadn't had a lesson it seems forever and this jamming as Bob calls it, was what I needed to get out of my rut. Yahoo!

Kathy Sis,
great job on Muscle Max Lower Body prem. I'm amazed at your 40# squats as well! Good for you! So glad your shoulder is behaving. You worked hard to get there. You are smart using 15# for lunges instead of the heavier weight. Also great job for doing PiYo Define Lower Body. Yoga too for me is very worth it. Will do some type of yoga tomorrow. At least I want to. Did you nail combo #5 in ROKO? I

Michelle, Great job on 21 day fit pilates. Very smart to get back in the swing of things with a light workout. Fun getting pictures taken with Cathe and part of the gang. We will see them I hope? You and your sis truly did do a marathon on Sat. I bet you were in 7th heaven! Even a live DJ. Wow! Zumba for me woulld have to do. I love the instructor. But you did so much I truly can't blame you for wanting to go back to the hotel to sleep. I can here DOM's way over here! I bet this road trip for you was easier because you were in better shape. My guess since you work so hard even without Cathe.

Take care and have a restful sleep,

Janie

Today was Gym Style chest and triceps. Good morning for a strength workout. Back to cardio tomorrow. I'm thinking Low Max premix. Very busy at work. Will probably make up the little bit of leave that I took last weekend. That's the way it goes lately.

Janie: I know that sister posted our pictures on FB but I'll try to get them posted here as well in a few days.

Kathy: great job on Muscle Max. You are getting back into the workouts--you must be feeling good. Happy for you!

Hope everyone is having a great week.
Michelle

Weight Day: Did Total Body Sculpting and walked the beach for 30 min.

Michelle, Great job on Gym Style chest and triceps. Sorry about you being so busy at work.

Take care,

Janie

Last night I did KCM's Muscle Up (chest/back). I was able to use my 20# dbs for my back + 15# dbs for chest press & flyes. I can't tell you ladies what this means to me. I haven't been able to do these exercises w/out pain in a LONG TIME. I had no pain whatsoever. I was able to do pushups on my toes going down low w/out any pain. Yipee!

Tonight I'll either do KCM's Plateau Buster (cardio only) or Cardio Quick Fix #2 which is high impact. I'll decide tonight.

Michelle: I'm not on Facebook. I would only be able to view the pictures here. You worked out hard. Those were some great classes. I viewed one of Cathe's Live classes the Cardio Band class which was unique. I'm hoping this is going to be in the new set. I remember I had my picture taken w/Cathe, Cedie, Lorraine & Brenda. Were all the ladies there or was it just Al, Brenda & Cedie? Did Jai show up? What row are you & Renee in the group picture? They certainly did things differently this year. I remember all of us walking down the road to a restaurant for our lunch. Now I see they provide all the meals at the gym instead. That's smart. I'm trying to convince my girlfriend to go to next year's RT. Both of us were there in 2005. Can you believe its been that long? Glad you had a great time.

Janie Sis: Glad your able to walk on the beach w/no pain in your foot & for doing weight training. I'm sure you sounded great playing the guitar. You've come a long way in a short amount of time. The cardio I did was Rockin Party Step #1 where that combo #5 really stumped me. Finally nailed it.

Take care,
Kathy

Lowmax intervals 1-4 premix this morning.

Janie: busy at work is okay. Better to be busy than not. I'm glad that your foot is feeling better.

Kathy: it's got to be a good feeling to feel like you are getting your exercise groove back. No pain--YEAH for you! I will download the RT pictures to my desktop this weekend and then post here. Friday it was just Cedie, Al, Brenda, and Marlo. Jai and Lorraine were not able to come. I do not know if the crew showed up on Sunday morning. They had not by the time that we left. It would be great if you are able to do the Glassboro RT next year. We might have to have "Getting our Licks In" shirts made to commemorate the first gathering of part of our check-in group at a RT. Laura is supposed to be going to the Daytona RT. I hope she still goes.

Hello to sister who is probably lurking. And hello to Cindy who is probably busy with her kids.

Michelle

Off to do some cardio on the beach and since it's Friday will do my weight lifting later tonight and will post again. Update: Actually did 30 min. of cardio by walking fast on the beach with Rolly and tonight did Body fusion. Whew!

Just a few more touch ups and I'll call it good. This drawing is called "Three Little Birds" from the song by Bob Marley. A happy tune. The notes (if not under and around curves) have come from that song. It is a 14" X 11" paper and created 1/4" boarder around the piece. Used colored pencil, pencil and ink.

Kathy Sis, Great job on KCM's Muscle Up chest, back. And for being able to us 20# for back and 15 for chest press. Wow you are just rolling around. I bet you are so grateful and I'm very happy for you. YaHoo! Yea for the push ups too. You are amazing!

Michelle, Great job on Lowmax intervals 1-4 this morning. Yea! Cheering you on LOL.

I have this song in my head that just won't go away. It's called Bound To You sung by Christina Aguilera. OMG! The best song I've ever heard her sing. I got the chords so someday I can play it.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Friday got together w/2 ladies that I used to work with when I was a teenager. Had a blast w/them. Saturday did KCM's MU (shoulders & arms) + Body Beast Abs. I was able to up the weights again. Used 15# dbs for Arnold Presses as well as bicep curls & hammers. I'm coming back!

Today will be KCM's Plateau Buster Cardio Mix only.

Janie Sis: What a pretty picture & great title too! You create such beautiful work.

Michelle: Can't wait to see the pictures of the RT. I'm trying to convince my girlfriend to go to next year's RT but she keeps complaining that its too expensive. For what you get for your $$ I feel its worth it. I'll keep trying w/her though. It would be wonderful to meet you & Renee face-to-face.

Hi to Cindy & Renee!

Kathy

Sounds like everyone is doing so well :) We had my parents, niece, and nephew up this weekend to watch Lily do a cheer performance at a local arts festival, it was lots of fun. My niece was excited to do Lily's cheer workouts with us and got to attend a birthday party with Lily on Sunday at the cheer studio. She was so proud to show me her forward rolls and cartwheels. Had a great time with family and it has me praying extra hard that my ex-SIL starts to give that little girl more attention. She needs and deserves it and was commenting that she wanted to come live with us and that she wanted me to be her mom. It's a bit heartbreaking but I cuddled her and doted on her as much as I could. My parents have out two big kids until Friday so Lucas is getting some special "only child" treatment this week.

Yesterday I did Turbobarre and tonight I'll do P90X3 Challenge to work my arms. Dave and I are going to start the work to get the basement painted, lots to prep and I'll be painting for my daily workouts for awhile. I hope to be started painting by this weekend.

Janie - What a great drawing, I now have Three Little Birds in my head :) How great to get some jam time in, so fun to have people to play with!

Michelle - Sounds like you had a great time! I'm sure you're just in better shape and that it wasn't easier. You work your booty off daily :)

Kathy - I'm so excited that you're able to do your workouts without any pain, what a relief and joy!

Yesterday went out for some finger food & drinks w/co-workers. Had much fun! Tonight will be Muscle Max Lower Body premix. I'll use the same 40# bb & 15# dbs as I did last week. I'll also do 21 Day Fix 10 Min. Abs.

Cindy: Sounds like you had a fun time w/your parents & your niece & nephew. All that practicing of those rolls & cartwheels w/Lily paid off. I feel terrible for your niece not getting enough attention. You did great w/your workouts. Don't envy you on painting the basement though. That's a hard workout. Good luck w/that.

Waves to Janie, Michelle & Renee!

Kathy

So I didn't get the RT pictures downloaded yet. Worked part of Saturday and most of Sunday. Yesterday was a 13-hour work-day; today only 10. Thankfully, yesterday was a break day, did Step Max today (from Cathe's August rotation). I'm down-right tired. I'll try to be more communicative later in the week.
Michelle

Sorry I've been MIA. Some of my family came to visit from East of the mountains. I'm having a Ball. Will talk tomorrow.

Hope everyone is well,

Janie

Last night was Muscle Max Lower Body premix. I used the same 40# bb but upped the weight on the plie squats. Held a 20# db. It felt great. Tonight will be a brand new workout. Never heard of Kristin Dowell before. The workout is called Dressed Up Drills. I'll be trying out one of the premixes as the original workout goes for 83 min. I'll save that for over the weekend.

Janie Sis: Enjoy your time w/the family. Will talk to you when you resurface.

Michelle: WOW that's a lot of hours at work. You poor thing. Its no wonder your tired. I'll talk to you too later in the week.

Take care everyone,
Kathy

I guess I'll be the one to keep things going. LOL

Last night I did one of the Jiffy premixes from Dressed Up Drills by Kristin Dowell. This was warmup, cardios 1 & 2 + bodyweight 1 + stretch. Drills were relatively to get but that bodyweight exercise! You have to crouch down bending your knees, roll onto your back & then get back up to standing position without using your hands. I went w/the modifier. That move was not happening for me. I can't get up. LOL

Tonight will be Muscle Up (chest/back) & will up the weights to 21 1/4# dbs & stick w/15 dbs for chest flyes. I'll also do Core #1. Love that ab work.

Michelle is still snowed under w/work. :(

Janie Sis: You must be still having fun w/family from the east of the mountains. Enjoy!

Take care everyone!
Kathy

Now my daughter is visiting with us. So nice to visit my loved ones! I walked on the beach with Rolly and Monique ran. Great fun. Did this twice today for about 30 min. and then another for an hour. Haven't done anything else while family was here.

Learning to play Harvest Moon by Neil Young. OMG! My sister introduced it to me. OMG! I want this song to be my signature mark. So simple and sweet. At least it sounds like it. Tried to play it and it will take time, but it's so beautiful I simply have to keep trying.

Kathy Sis, Great job on MM Lower Body prem. Yea 40#'s + more on the plie squats. YOu are doing to well and very proud of you. And the next day for doing Jiffy prem. from dressed up drills. Sounds like a really good workout. Cathe also does one very similar to what you just described. Hrd stuff for sure. Good for you!

Keep up the good work,

Janie

My daughter Monique, Joe, Rolly and Taco walked the beach today about an hour. Then we went to Westport and had a fish and chips, clam strips and oysters. For me not so much oysters. Daughter left, wished she could have stayed longer. But I got her for a night anyway.

Janie

Hi everyone. Well, the workweek was a week. I actually "took a day off" on Thursday; DH and I drove over to Clarksburg, WVa for his 50th high school reunion this weekend. Did muscle endurance on Wednesday, did not exercise on Thursday, did Travel Fit yesterday, and Slide and Glide today. Travel Fit is enough of a workout to make me feel like I'm not being total slug when away from home. But Slide and Glide really made me sweat today. There was a social hour last night for DH's reunion and there is a dinner and dance this evening. We went to pay our respect to his parents (they passed away many years ago) and then road around his hometown yesterday. Everything here is built on a hill/mountain--top, bottom, side, wherever they can fit something. Alot of the roads "in town" are only about a car and a half wide and the streets can be straight up or straight down depending which way you are heading.

Janie: enjoy your visit with you family. I've been keeping track of your guitar playing progress on facebook.

Kathy: thanks for holding down the fort here for a few days. As per usual, you are doing workouts that I've never heard of. I'll have to google Kristin Dowell. The squat, roll, and up move that you describe sounds like a move out of Cathe's Cardio Core Circuit and I don't think you get to use your hands in that one either. It's all core, legs, endurance, and momentum.

Cindy: How was your week with Lucas? Did the "big" kids enjoy visiting their grandparents? Weren't you getting ready to paint?

Hi to sister. School is back in session for her this week. Back to school for her this week (with the children).
Michelle

Walked the beach for an hour today with Rolly. Starting Monday will continue with my weight workouts. Been awhile.

Michelle, Wow a 50th high school reunion. It is a milestone. Great job on Muscle Endurance. I love that one! And Travel Fit yesterday and Slide and Glide today. Nice to remember where you were brought up. Intereting home town he lived, sounds very quaint. Glad you are on FB, just nice to hear you are supporting me on my guitar. It's not an easy instrument, but I think I'm improving a little faster. I think. LOL

Take care,

Janie
