Getting Our Licks In!

Last night got away from me and it was 8:50 by the time I was ready to exercise, I opted for Tabatacise Tabata 1 since I was pressed on time but it was a good burst and I'm glad I did it. Tonight we'll do a new P90X3 workout - I think Dave wants to focus on arms so we'll see what we do. I'm not as sore so I'm up for it.

Lucas slept well last night and sounded a bit better today, hopefully this means things are starting to get better for him.

Michelle - I have yet to dive into the X10 premixes, after 1 I'm spent! So glad Ripken is home with you :) Good luck working on your chores/to-do's.

Janie - That's a beautiful picture! I'm sure locks of love takes gray hair :)

Last night I didn't have time to do cardio. I did the warmup to one of the hypertrophy discs from STS for back & biceps. I then went onto doing CTX's back & biceps & then in the All Abs section did the Power Circuit abs. I have no desire to do any of the ab sections on this dvd. Its just way too dated. We don't work our abs this way anymore.

Tonight I'll do a Rodney Yee yoga workout. I need it.

Michelle: How did you do on those pizza presses? Not easy. And you did manage to do 2 sections of X10. I've been meaning to do this too. Maybe next week. I'm off on vacation too. Enjoy your time off visiting w/family & friends.

Cindy: I hope Lucas will continue to improve so he can enjoy the holidays next week. You had some burst of energy there w/Tabata 1. Please let me know what you think of P90X3. I'll be viewing clips posted on youtube. If I like what I see, I'll purchase it in the new year.

Janie Sis: I didn't get a chance to view the drawing. :( You do such beautiful work too.

Take care,
Kathy

Okay. First, it is 60 degrees here. My kind of December weather. AND the sun is shining. Sweet! Did all of great glutes today; I'm on vacation, why not? Ran into town first thing this morning and finished the last of my Christmas shopping. DH left just a bit ago to continue his. All I'm saying is that at 8:30 am, I was able to park right by the door, go in to an empty store, shop with ease, and check in and zip to the next place for the same routine. Very nice. Even got my car washed. Checked my work email when I got home and then exercised. Now, I have the afternoon to relax. Might take a walk a little later; it is so nice outside.

Cindy: so happy to hear that Lucas is slowly getting better. Poor little guy. Tabatacise is a great quick cardio. Good choice.

Janie: the picture is great. You are so talented. I admire your adventurous spirit and creativity. And I don't mean to be cranky with you, but you didn't mention your exercise for today. If Ripken was here, he would want to be sure that you are getting your licks in.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Michelle

Thank you for the compliments on my nude doodle. Means a lot to me. I can't wait in getting started again on my exercises. My foot is clearly almost healed. One more week and I'll be good to go. I CAN"T WAIT!

Cindy, Great job on Tabatacise Tabata 1. Yea for Lucas sleep well last night. Poor baby, he will soon be himself.

Kathy Sis, Great job on the warmup and doing CTX's back & biceps and the addition of Power Circuit abs. Thank you so much for the Ho Ho Ho Christmas card. So cute.

Michelle, You are sooooooo lucky for your warm weather! Enjoy. Great job on Great Glutes. Joey went out shopping as well and the same thing happened to him. It was early AM too. Glad you got all your errands, now you can breath.

Believe me when I tell you, I really want to do my exercises, but am afraid if my foot is not healed will injure it again and will have to wait again for it to heal. Making sure it's healed and giving plenty of time for it to do so. I'm biting at the bit wanting to exercise sooooooooo badly. One more week, that's all, then Ripken and you can be proud of me once again. Yep, while not exercising I'm gaining weight. But all that will change in a week. Am I wrong? Thank you for your cranky support, only good friends would mention their concern as you did. Love you too. LOL

Take care,

Janie

I did P90X3 Agility X last night and it was a fun workout, got my heart pumping and the sweat dripping so that was good. I had energy afterwards to clean the bathroom and dust, I'll finish the rest of the house tonight after another P90X3 or Hiit workout.

We are leaving for my parents house tomorrow morning and will be back on Monday and spend Christmas with just us for the first time ever. There's some drama this year with my ex-SIL and that's why we're leaving early. I plan to use my parent's weight machine and stationary bike while I'm there so I'll still get some activity in. We also plan to get some sledding in :)

What is everyone's plans for Christmas?

Kathy - P90X3 is a lot like P90X (new moves but similar in ways) but it's really doable and easily modified if needed. Some of the moves are a bit much for my knees so I"ll have to watch myself with those but it's still a good workout. I like the new way of working abs over the old way - I need variety when it comes to the core.

Michelle - We have lows in the negatives again (only single digit negatives) absorb some warmth from the sun for me :) Great job with great glutes and getting your shopping done before the mayhem!

Janie - I'm excited for you to be able to work out again, it will be here very soon!

Cindy

Rockout Knockout today--did the whole thing because I'm not crunched for time since I'm off from work. I really like this particular workout--it has a huge fun factor, I think because of the music. Tomorrow our new dishwasher is supposed to be installed early afternoon. Now I just have to use the dang thing. With only two of us, it will take a few days to fill up.

Cindy: Brrrr-negative single digits is cold. It is truly a rare event for us to get weather that cold and it usually does not last long. It was in the low 60s again today and it is supposed to push 70 tomorrow. Enjoy your visit with your family. Sledding sounds like fun but I hope it is not so cold for you all. On Sunday, DH and I will have dinner with my uncle, aunt, cousin, and his wife. They are local. DH and I will be staying home for Christmas. Usually DH's son and wife come over for part of Christmas day but we have not heard a peep from them. They both work in retail so we know that they are busy. Then, I go to visit my family in SW VA the day after Christmas for a few days.

Janie: oh dang, I forgot about your foot. What about yoga? Can you do that? Or just upper body weights? It seems like there are things that you can do that would not aggravate your foot but maybe I am incorrect. Or maybe I am just being impatient on your behalf.

Kathy: I'm mulling over your comment about old school ab exercises. I'm kind of with you in your sentiment although sometimes it is nice to do some crunches down memory lane.

Laura: hope you are doing well and we hear from you soon!
Michelle

It's springtime weather in Virginia: 69 degrees as of noon. Gotta love living south of the Mason-Dixon line. I sure do. Did Flex Train Timesaver 3 today. Good day for a short workout. Supposed to be getting our new dishwasher installed this afternoon. At the moment, we are in hurry up and wait mode. So, I thought I'd check in and see how everyone is doing. Must be a very busy day for everyone. I spent some time this morning looking through pictures of Ripken. He was such a beautiful and amazing dog. We are going to see if we can locate the breeder from whom we bought him. I hope she is still in the area. I'm also going to get in touch with the local Golden Retriever Club of America to obtain names of local breeders. I know of two here in the Fredericksburg area who are extremely good and produce wonderful goldens. I sure do miss my pup.

Michelle

Cindy, Great job on P90X3 Agility X. Yep love it when a workout is all sweaty with energy left over to clean the house. LOL Enjoy your parents. Sorry about the drama. Keeping up with exercises while traveling is something I need to figure out. Good for you. OOOOOOo have fun sledding. That sounds like so much fun! Enjoy the Christmas season just the two of you. We are going to one of our daughters house, she is having Christmas for all the family. We'll play poker with gift cards.

Michelle, Great job with Rockout Knockout and doing the whole thing. You are so strong! Thank you for your suggestions, I really didn't want to get hurt by accident when using only one limb and trying to balance. Just a few more days now and everything will be back to normal. I can't wait! Enjoy your new dishwasher.

Michelle, 69? Wow! How come I wonder? Guess it's normal for south of the Mason-Dixon line. Gret job on Flex Train Timesaver 3. Aw reminiscing about Ripken must have been touching. Will there be doggie in the near future? You should do it. Never will this replace Ripken, but it helps take mind off the sorrow. I did that after Molly passed with Rolly. It took me awhile but Rolly and I bonded. How could we not? He is such a kind hearted little guy and so loving. Just like Molly was.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Quick checkin: Party Rocking Step 1 today. Will be going down to my Uncle and Aunt's for dinner this evening. It is still warm here--downright humid outside today. It was 73 degrees at 9 am this morning. But this won't last. It is supposed to be a little cooler tomorrow and then more seasonal on Tuesday through the end of the week. Not expecting any frozen precipitation here--thank goodness.

Hope everyone is doing well.

12-23-13

Saturday I did Timesaver #1 & on Sunday did Timesaver #2. Tonight will be #3 as I'm working myself all the way to #5. For some reason I'm not feeling these workouts. I'm finding that the weight work is too short + I have to pause the dvd b/c I'm just not ready to push forward to the bonus footage which is more weight work. Just too fast. I much prefer CTX.

Janie Sis: Enjoy your time at your daughter's w/poker & snacks. :) Before you know it you'll be back at it with cardio & weights. Did you get the keyboard?

Michelle: Our weather here too is quite warm 63 degrees today. How was your dinner last night? We're just spending Xmas at home. My DH is down with a terrible sinus infection. Hopefully he'll be up & around on Xmas. I too really like Rockout Knockout & RPS #1. I guess another pup will soon be purchased & brought home. Good luck at finding the breeder.

Cindy: Thx for telling me about P90X3. I checked out coaches clips on youtube yesterday. I think I'm going to hold off due to my arm. It does look a lot like P90X too which makes me hesitate on it. Glad your enjoying the workouts. Hope you enjoyed the time w/your parents & the sledding. Sounds like such fun! Don't envy you though on the cold weather. Brrrr!

I'll be home for the rest of the week.

TTYT,
Kathy

My keyboard is coming today! I even have a chance of getting a guitar from one of my art friends husband at the ocean. I may have a choice between a nylon string or steel string. I'm thinking steel string because it's less hassle, it plays louder and I'm liking the idea of different kinds of music, not just folk, or classical. I think I can do both, if not I'll learn keyboard first and then later add the guitar. So exciting! Decisions, decisions. LOL By the way, thank you all so much for the Christmas cards.

Michelle, Great job on Rocking Step 1. Do have a wonderful time at your Uncle and Aunt's for dinner. Can't believe how your weather is so nice. Enjoy it.

Kathy Sis, Great job on Sat. Timesaver #1 and Sunday's Timesaver #2. If you are not enjoying the workouts then it's time for a change. Do what you like and do CTX instead. Unless you are like me, made a decision and won't change it just because. MMMMMMM maybe I should do some changes on mine as well. Better make up my mind soon, because there is only a couple more days until I start working out again. I can't wait! LOL

Enjoy your workouts everyone,

Janie

Merry Christmas Eve to everyone. Yesterday was lean legs and abs and today was STS disc 1. I've enjoyed the December rotation but it's a bit repetitive and I'm ready for some weightlifting, so I did STS today. I don't know if I'll do the whole program but I'll at least get through the first meso cycle and then see how I feel. I'm trying to be cheerful today but it's hard without my dear sweet pup. I spent some time yesterday researching Ripken's breedline yesterday and quite frankly, I have to say, we sure did luck into getting him. He came from a very strong line of championship golden retrievers and we just didn't know anything at the time that we got him. Now, I'm a little more knowledgeable and when we get another dog, it hopefully will be from one of the breeder-lines in his ancestry. We did have a nice visit and dinner with my uncle, aunt, cousin, and his wife. My cousin and wife are expecting a baby (due in May) and it was a real treat to see my cousin so happy. He is usually pretty even keel, but I think he was glowing more than my cousin-in-law.

Janie: the gift of music is wonderful. Enjoy learning your two new instruments.

Kathy: I haven't done the timesaver dvd in a long time, but I understand what you are saying. The workouts just don't seem like they are enough. Even when you need a timesaver, they still seem to abbreviated. I prefer CTS to Timesavers as well.

MIchelle

Been slowly and clumsily practicing playing the piano. Trying hard to make my fingers work and remembering what note it is, on the keys. Oh My. Just like art, it takes practice and a lot of it. LOL. I did play already, with both hands,
"Love Me Tender". Again, very clumsily. I'll get there and with enthusiasm.

Peace to you and those you love and blessings from the lord above and at Christmas time and always. May your Christmas be filled with joyful noise.

MIchelle, Great job on yesterday's Lean Legs and abs and for today's STS disc 1. It's nice to change up the routine a bit, I have to agree. How sweet to know your pup even more and perhaps getting another sweet pup in his ancestry. How can you go wrong? Expecting parents do have such a glow about them. LOL. Will first learn a lot about piano before learning the guitar, but it will be there when I'm ready.

Enjoy your Christmas everyone,

Janie

Merry Christmas to everyone. Did Party Rockin Step 2, Timesaver 1. Went to Christmas Mass last night. So glad that I did. I hope everyone has a blessed day.
Michelle

I hope everyone had a wonderful & Merry Christmas! I had a crazy week leading up to Christmas. I heave had a tooth ache which got so bad that I finally went in on Monday late afternoon to find out that I needed an emergency root canal Tuesday morning. They gave me a prescription for a pain killer which I filled and went home. I ended up having a very severe allergic reaction to the mess that was quite scary. I ended up at the doctors and spent the day very Ill. The next day I went in to have the root canal but my tooth was so aggregated they couldn't numb it enough to do it. They sent me home and I had two very uncomfortable days waiting to see if the tooth would calm down enough to do the surgery Friday morning. Which fortunately they could do mostly to some very strong drugs that made me sleep all that day. It was a good thing they could do it because my girls, mom, and I left for Nashville to be with my brother and his family for Christmas. So needless to say I haven't been working out!

I did get to the YMCA here in Nashville on Monday and did Cardio Coach and STS Meso Cycle 2 chest shoulders and tris and I am planning to go again today.

I drove my girls down to Chattanooga to meet their other grandmother and they are spending the rest
of their break In Atlanta. I don't know what to do with myself now.....

Michelle thinking of you at this time....(((((hugs)))))).

I thought I posted yesterday, I must not have hit submit! We had a great Christmas with lots of family, love, and food! Too much food so I'm working on damage control now. I'm back at work so it should help being in my normal routine. I was so tired last night but I did the Slide n Glide muscle conditioning workout and tonight I'm planning Hiit Pyramid. I'll stay active this weekend also and will workout each day, it's needed after too many cookies and fudge.

Laura - Ouch! I'm so sorry you went through so much with your tooth, what a miserable week! You have a good reason for not exercising that week. Great job getting to the YMCA. Time alone, hmmm how about sleeping, reading, a massage and a pedicure :)

Michelle - That would be so exciting to get another golden from the same line as Ripken! You've done awesome with your exercise over Christmas, way to rock it!

Janie - I'm so glad you have your keyboard and are diving right in. I pulled out some Christmas music and played a bit on Tuesday - Lily asked me to be quiet and Lucas cried because I wasn't holding him, at least Brodie enjoyed it ;)

Kathy - I would say P90X3 is just a shorter version of P90X, which I like because I found the original to be too long on most nights for me. At this point I think I'll loosely follow the layout and then do Cathe on nights Dave is running so it will take me probably 6 months to get through the 3 month rotation but that's OK.

Cindy

Practiced piano for an hour. Finding out about hand positioning. Hmmmmm. Not easy, but love the practice anyway. Today was Total Body Sculpting. Ate very clean today. No pain anywhere!

Michelle, Great job on Party Rockin Step 2, Timesaver 1. Aww I missed our midnight mass.

Laura, So glad your tooth is better, you sure did go through a lot. You poor thing. How was your trip to Nashville? I'm sure you had a wonderful time with family. Awww, enjoy your alone time; read, workout, go to a spa...just enjoy yourself.

Cindy, Me too on "Damage Control" LOL. Great job on Slide n Glide muscle conditioning workout even though you were tired. Good for you. Aww, seems you are missing a little out on your music ability. Wished I could have been there to hear you. (hugs)

Take care everyone,

Janie

Finished with the first chapter on the piano/keyboard. YaHoo! Today was Low Impact Step 40 min. My foot was a bit sore, but I gingerly favored it. Should be better for the next time around. Tomorrow is a rest day.

Take care,

Janie

HI everyone. Sounds like everyone had a Merry Christmas. I got back home about an hour ago from visiting my parents, sisters, and nieces. Nice visit. Renee and I did a P90X workout on Friday (chest, shoulders, and biceps plus ripper X abs). Personally, I'm not crazy about Tony Horton. He talks too much about inane things plus I don't like the way he calls everyone "boys and girls." I mean really--we're all grown-ups. Made me appreciate Cathe even more. Saturday, sister and I did rockout knockout and today I drove back home so no exercise today unless I decide to do STS later on.

Laura: I hope that your mouth is feeling better. A tooth-ache is pretty annoying, to say the least. I'm glad you spent Christmas with your family and that your daughters were able to spend time with both sides of their family. Thanks for remembering Ripken and your cyber hugs. On the way home today, I took a little side trip to check out where Terans Kennel is. The breeder is located in a very nice neighborhood out in Spotsylvania County and has quite the setup for dogs. I just drove by to see where it is; this week I will send the breeder an email. BTW, if you are at loose ends while the girls are away, you can always exercise.

Janie: sounds like you are having fun with your keyboard. Happy to hear that you are slowly getting back into do cardio. Slow and steady wins the race.

Cindy: I hear you about needing to recover from too much Christmas eating. I did good until I went over to my parents. My mother loves to bake and she is very good at it, so I splurged for a couple of days.

Hi to Kathy. Hope you are doing well.
Michelle

Trying to learn and memorize the keys and the notes and how they work together. Wow! This part is really hard and it's just the beginning. I ordered flash cards from Amazon in hopes this will help. Can't really move on until I learn this. I'm going to be an "A" student. However long it takes then so be it. LOL

My foot is a little sore, but not so bad. Every Sat. I will do a step routine, so I have a week for it to calm down. In between weight workouts I will put in Yoga. (Yoga will only be two days a week). Then Sun. will be a rest day.

Michelle, Great job with your sis, on P90X (chest, shoulders and biceps and ripper X abs) Friday. Yep, can't beat the personality of Cathe for sure. Also for doing Rockout Knockout with your sister (Renee) How is she by the way?

Kathy Sis, Where are you? Hope things are OK.

Missing Cindy, and Laura too.

Take care,

Janie
