Getting Our Licks In!

Michelle, Great job on STS disc 5, back and triceps. Congratulations on your constant DOM's. I know once my body gets use to the exercises once again, they will leave me. But, my body will change even if I don't feel the DOM's. You have always said things like this to me about my jewelry. What a kind and thoughtful person you are. I love the thought of extending my energy. Wow.

Take care,

Janie

Well I woke up at 2am worrying about financial stuff and the divorce! When 4:30 rolled around and I was still not sleeping I said F-this I might as well get up and get my workout in as I wasn't sure how else to fit it into my busy day! I did Flex Train for the first time and my oh my was it tough! I don't know if it was because my body was like what the heck are you doing crazy lady or what but I was reaching failure with the shoulders, biceps and triceps like never before! Then I did a quick but gentle am Yoga DVD with Rodney Yee that I really enjoy to stretch-out my tired self. I also did a 25 minute guided meditation and now I am showered, dressed and drinking my coffee!

I decided to do all the DVD's that I haven't done in order of most recent to oldest. So today I did Flex Train and tomorrow I plan on doing Party Rocking Step #2 which is the only other DVD I haven't done. Then I will do Supersets from Xtrain and To the Max. Then I am going to cycle through the Low Impact Series.

Thanks Janie and Michelle most days I am doing pretty good and then everyone and awhile the enormity of the divorce will hit me. As a 42 year old woman who was primarily a stay at home money with no assets of my own it can be down right scary! I just want the divorce to be final so I can move on and plan the rest of my life!

1-6-13

Still coughing & can't seem to shake it. Argh! Saturday I did KCM's Body Shop workout #2 which is a total body workout. Sunday I finally tried KCM's Shape Up which is a Tabata workout doing a step cardio drill 8x & then picking up dbs & doing a weight exercise 8x. This is HARD!!!! This truly took my breath away. But I made it through. I kept telling myself you can do anything for 30 min. Yea right! Tonight will be Supercuts the 38 min. premix. I can only manage 30-40 min. at a time due to my cough.

Michelle: Meso 1 gives me major DOMS too. I checked out the 2014 Cathe calendar rotation & it looks good. I'm thinking of tackling this when I'm well. Did you get the calendar? The photos are beautiful. Our weather is crazy here. It started out w/50 degrees & by tonight 8 degrees! :O Is it any wonder I can't get better? You stay warm. I hope it won't take a long time to get your pup but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait especially since its Ripken's ancestry.

Janie Sis: I didn't know you made jewelry. Do you still do it? Glad your back to working out & for not passing that toilet test. LOL It must feel so good. Have fun doodling. Your doodles are gorgeous!! Your such an accomplished artist. Hope the flash cards come for you soon.

Laura: Sorry that you didn't get 8 hrs. of sleep due to worries. I'm sure everything will work out. Your one strong woman & I know you'll see this through. Your going to have major DOMS from Afterburn, Cardio & Weights & Athletic Training, etc. I don't blame you for not wanting to purchase anything new as you have quite a bit of workouts to get through. Have fun! I happen to love Flex Train & I'll be doing this one on Wednesday.

Cindy: Great job on X10 even though you didn't feel like doing anything. I sometimes feel the same way but once the music starts that's my motivation. The more pumped up the music is the harder I workout. How did Lily do on her cheer & also with their ski lessons.

Have a good day everyone!
Kathy

Tonight was Travel Fit. It was 51 minutes. Burned about 376 calories. Yahoo! Felt so good. Spent a lot of time trying to memorize notes and places for the notes on the keyboard, without the flash cards. Should be here soon. I'm practicing Hallelujah. I love that music/lyrics! I figured out all the notes now tomorrow I'll practice trying to play it. Still drawing the art work. This will take awhile.

Laura, So sorry for you losing so much sleep over not fun stuff. Great job on Flex Train. Yep, it's tough! Good for you. And good for doing a short gentle yoga. Oh, and a meditation. I've never really done one. Does it make you calm? Hope you had a good day at work. I love the idea of you doing workouts that you haven't done yet. What a great idea! Great job on today's Flex Train. I would feel the same way if I was in your shoes. I want you to plan your life too. Hope it happens very soon for you. (hugs)

Kathy Sis, Try and give it a rest for a week. I bet it will be easier for you. I promise You'll get right back into it without a skip. Hope you feel better soon. You poor thing (hugs). Great job on Sat. KCM's Body Shop workout 2, Sun. KCM's Shape Up. It sound hard! Congrats for making it through. I haven't made jewelry for awhile, but I do have a lot left over from trying to sell them at the Gallery. They are made from paper but look like the real thing. Would you like me to send you a pair of earrings? Cause, well, you are my sister after all. LOL

Take care everyone,

Janie

1-7-13 BRRRR!!!!

Today its only 5 degrees!!!!! Outside with the wind chill factor its more like -20 below!!! Can't believe that Florida is only 26. My DH's relatives must be frigid.

Last night I did Supercuts + Core #1 the 38 min. premix. I must say that this workout is all over the place & uses way too much equipment. I much prefer Flex Train. I was coughing so much during Supercuts that by the time I got to Core when Cathe said to do "ankle grabbers" my back was hurting too much. My body just wouldn't allow me to sit up & touch my ankles. I just caved. Went back upstairs from the basement & just ate my dinner. LOL Hey sometimes you just gotta know when to quit.

Tonight I really want to do Rapire Fire 4 SWEAT but just do the kickboxing section + abs. I'm a glutton for punishment.

I also like the rotation that's in the calendar much better than the rotation that Cathe posted on her website. I'm going to try it but not until I'm better.

Janie sis: I should remember to do Travel Fit. That one would be perfect w/my arm still hurting me. Glad you enjoyed TF. I too love that song that your practicing. Very pretty. Sure hope those flash cards come soon. Its taking a long time isn't it? Your so sweet to send me earrings. Are they for pierced ears? Because I wear pierced earrings. I'd love for you to send them to me. How much do I owe you? I can send you a check.

Hope everyone stays warm!
Kathy

I've been reading up on all of you but haven't had time to post. This weekend wasn't as active as I had hoped but I did get in a P90X3 workout with Dave on Saturday and last night I did the Accelerator. I'm going to do a condensed version of the standard plan and making it 7 weeks instead of 12, hopefully I won't get bored with it this way.

I'm fighting a huge sugar addiction right now and I feel like I'm losing. Any suggestions on beating the sugar?

Lily's rehearsal went well and she was so cute. They cancelled ski lessons and I'm not sure why, it was above 0 so they shouldn't have. It sucks since Lily will now miss her first practice but not much we can do about it. I found out last night my MIL will be up for her competition on Sun but my FIL won't because it's not his cup of tea. I'm a bit upset that he's willing to drive all over Montana to see my nephew play football but won't drive 1 hour to see Lily cheer, I'm trying really hard to not get angry/bitter. Dave was upset about it - not sure if he'll say anything. Here's a picture of Lily - hope you all can see it

Kathy - We must be on the opposite temp spectrum because we're warm at 27 with highs in the 30's, we'll blow some warm air your way! Great job listening to your body and enjoy your sweat fest tonight!

Janie - I love how you aren't afraid to jump into something new :) That rotation looks great I'll have to keep it.

Laura - Awesome job turning stress and no sleep into a productive workout and calm start to the morning. You are a strong woman and of course it's not easy but you're paving a new path yourself! Be proud of all you are doing.

Michelle - I need to get STS at some point, maybe I can convince Dave to do it with me a few months down the road.

Cindy

Tonight was Yoga Foundation Practice 2. Did really well until towards the end. I couldn't do the Plow or the shoulder stand. I use to be able to do them like butter. Wow! Just goes to show ya. I need lots of work! Went to the dentist today. Joe and I waited a whole year. Shouldn't have done that. The gum pockets are larger and my teethe needed deep cleaning. I have to go in to finish the cleaning tomorrow and then I have two very small cavities which can be done without shots or anything on Thurs. The new technology they have can see better than ever when a cavity is forming. So we'll nip that at the bud. I use to have my teeth cleaned every season or every 4 months. Now I have to again. Never Never again will we wait that long! Lesson learned. Didn't get on the piano today.

KathySis, The weather is crazy this year! Please, with your temps stay warm, cozy and safe. Great job on last nights Supercuts and Core 1 premix. Your body is trying hard to heal itself from the cold. You tried, now give it a few day.;) I'm very proud of you for trying. Did you do Rapire Fire 4 SWEAT kickboxing part? No need to send me money. It's a gift. But, I went to find some here at the house in Shelton, but don't have them here. They are at the beach house. Will be at the beach house towards the end of Jan. Then I can send them to you. What color do you like?

Cindy, I would also like to send you a pair of earring too. You've also become a special person here on the forum. It just wouldn't be the same here without you now. What color do you like and I'll send you earring as close as I can come to it. Remember, these are waterproof (not showerproof) paper earrings. Beating sugar cravings are hard, but try drinking lots of water and for sure brush your teeth. It works for me. Great job on P90X3 workout on Sat and for last nights Accelerator. I like the sound of 7 weeks standard plan. I get bored too and need a change about that time. OMG! Lily is so adorable! Awww, sorry about Lily's ski cancellation. That does suck. Hmmmmm, hope your FIL will have a change of heart and see Lily cheer. I can't imagine why he wouldn't.

Take care everyone,

Janie

1-8-13

Last night was just not happening as far as my workout is concerned. Basement was very cold & w/this cough still lingering I decided to take Janie's advice & rest. Its another day of 9 degrees. I almost passed out on the subway train this morning going into work. I just can't breath due to the weather. Allergies suck. I may have to take another rest day. We'll see how I feel later.

Cindy: Saw your post later in the day yesterday. I don't understand why your FIL doesn't want to drive only 1 hr. to see his own grandchild cheer. Maybe he doesn't consider it a sport & since she's a girl just leaves it up to Lily's grandmother to see her perform. Has Dave confronted him about it? Once again I missed the picture of Lily. :( Good job on P90X3. I too like the sound of 7 weeks. I used to do long rotations all the time but as of late I can't seem to stick to a particular rotation for more than 2 weeks. At least your weather is warmer than mine. Crazy! And its crazy too that they cancelled the ski lessons. It reminds me of Brody's socceer practices doesn't it? I certainly hear you on the sugar cravings. I have a huge sugar addiction. I was reading Strong magazine (which is from Canada) & in there they had the most amazing brownies ever!!! Their called Sweet Potato Brownies (I know sounds weird doesn't it?) & the only sugar in them is the 2 tsp. of vanilla extract. Let me know if you want the recipe. Janie's suggestions though are very good.

Janie Sis: Great job on your yoga practice. I have no idea what Plow pose is but I sure do know what shoulder stand is. You did well despite the end. I know what you mean re losing your flexibility w/yoga. I used to be very good at it but now muscles are tight. I have to do a short session at the end of the week. Must remind myself of this. Thank you so much for the earrings. My favorite colors are lilac & blue. But really anything you send me will be appreciated. Every time I wear them I'll be thinking of you. And I already know even w/out looking at them that their beautiful just like you. :)

Michelle: How's the weather in your neck of the woods? Hope its better than ours.

Waves to Laura!

Have a good, warm day everyone!
Kathy

Dave threw some stress at me last night at 7 when he mentioned his business partner was coming to town and he always stays with us so my cluttered messy house needed to be addressed. I went into go mode and got the house cleaned, did the P90X3 Warrior workout (it was a lot of fun), and got in bed on time. I then got up at 4:55 this morning and did the P90X3 Yoga workout and now I can enjoy a glass of wine tonight with our company :)

Janie - So sorry the dentist wasn't smooth sailing, I dread going but know I need to make it more of a habit. I struggled with some yoga moves this morning (balancing on one leg) that I used to be able to handle, we have to start somewhere :) You are so sweet, I would love a pair of earrings. I really like blues and greens but am also partial to pinks and purples :) I was thinking last night that tea has helped me in the past with sugar cravings, more liquids for me!

Kathy - I would love the recipe for those brownies, they sound great. Dave and his family are very non-confrontational - they go the guilt trip way. He did send an e-mail to his mom but it was rejected (wrong e-mail) so I'm sure nothing will be said. If anything is mentioned I will comment that we see where his priorities lie and leave it at that. I don't know why my pics don't show up for you, dang! It is on Facebook if you have an account - I can friend you.

Cindy

It's been a very busy workweek and the pace is only going to pick up tomorrow, so I'm checking in while my brain is still functioning. Monday was a rest day, Tuesday was 4DS LIS, today was STS disc 6, legs, tomorrow will be yoga (very early) and then off to Quantico for a marathon day (not literally running, but workwise). I did call the breeder today but she was headed out the door for an appointment so I may try again after dinner.

Janie: I'm one of those people who has to go to the dentist every six months or I pay for it, so I understand where you are coming from with the dentist. Could be better, but it could be much worse. I am wearing one of your necklaces today. Needed you with me today. Might need to wear this necklace again tomorrow so I have a calming charm with me.

Cindy: I love the picture of your picture daughter in her cheer outfit. I understand you distress regarding your FIL disinterest in his granddaughter's activity. The saddest part is that it is truly his loss and he probably doesn't even realize it.

Kathy: yes, it has been cold here, but really only for one day: yesterday. Today was not so bad and it might be in the 60s this weekend. Doing a 30 minute workout while recovering from a cold/bug sounds reasonable to me. You sound like you are being very smart about doing what you can and resting when your body says no.

Laura: Sorry you had a bad night's sleep. Flex train is a tough workout and it probably didn't help that you were not completely rested. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on Party Rocking Step 2; IMHO even though the choreograhpy is easier than PRS1, PRS2 is harder endurance wise. Change is scarey; we're all creatures of habit and your whole life has been turned upside down and inside out. Just remember every day you are one step closer to reaching the point of divorce being over.

Everyone take care.
Michelle

Hi Everyone. Yesterday I taught my two classes and then I did Rhythmic Step 2 and I have to confess I was just dying! That is one tough, tough, tough workout! Does anyone else feel that way or am I just a wimp!! I know that the extra weight I have put on does slow me down for sure…..Today has been super busy and I am feeling pretty darn tired. I am planning on going to the YMCA to swim tonight but finding it hard to muster the energy.

Tomorrow I am taking the day off to go to a Sushi Lunch and then to the Hot Springs with two of my good friends so I am really excited. I can't really afford it but I am going to splurge anyways.

Michelle: LOL I was posting before I read your post and it just popped up! Glad to hear that you thought Party Rocking Step was tough too! Goodness Gracious! I had to take breaks between every single combo. I thought the choreography was complicated although it did flow nicely once I got it… It's similar to Athletic Step and I doubt I will reach for it frequently. I tend to like my step more dancing than HIIT. You have been bust working out! Great Job!!!

Cindy: thank you it did feel good to take stress and work with it positively. How are you liking P90X3? Good job on your early morning Yoga. Tony's P90X Yoga in the first version is so tough. I loved to dread it when I did it. It's a great workout but honestly he is NOT a true yoga teacher….That's a tough one about the FIL but it is ultimately his loss….

Kathy: I am glad you are taking some down time it does seem like your body needs it. If you don't than your cold could turn into bronchitis and even pneumonia if you are not careful and then it will take months and months to recover……I know its' hard to rest and not workout but sometimes it is truly the best thing for us….

Janie: it sound like Yoga is treating you right! Great to hear about not passing the toilet test!! LOL:eek::eek::eek: I was like that after my workout with my Bro! So I know EXACTLY what you were feeling! Hurts so GOOD

Tonight was Body Fusion. Right in the middle of the DVD I felt like jello and every step was like going through mud. I decided to listen to my body and did not complete it.

Kathy Sis, So glad you took the day off and rested. You sound so uncomfortable. Might be a good idea to take another day of rest. BTW, I need your address again. I deleted my message box and on the Christmas card you sent me, I can't read your address. So sorry, please leave another message for me with you address. Awww, thank you for the heartfelt thoughts.

Cindy, Men, sometimes... Great job on the cleanmax and P90X3 Warrior workout and this morning for P90X3 yoga workout. Enjoy your wine tonight.;) You live in Montana, right? If so then I have your address and you don't need to send it to me again. So glad you got over the sugar craving. They can come on very strong. But we are stronger. Good for you.

Michelle, Great job on Mon. rest day, for Tues. 4DS LIS and today's STS disc 6. You have been very busy. Try to enjoy Quantico even though it will be a working marathon. Sending you calming energy.

Laura, Great job on your two classes and Rhythmic Step 2. I would be dying too with all those workouts. Wow girl! Swimming sounds so soothing. Did you go? Enjoy your day off for a Sushi Lunch and a marvelous Hot Springs. Taking time for friends and yourself is a must. Enjoy yourself, you can up later with money.

Take care ladies,

Janie

1-9-14

Late yesterday afternoon I started feeling much better. Last night I finally did Rapire Fire 4 SWEAT the kickboxing & abs premix. Love it! Tonight I'll do Flex Train.

Janie Sis: What's Body Fusion? Is this another yoga practice?

Michelle: Your going to have much better weather than we are but at least ours will be in the low 50's. I'll take it. You've been doing great workouts. I hope Janie's necklace helps you to stay calm through today's workload.

Laura: It must be fun as well as tiring doing 2 Pilates classes. Enjoy your day w/friends at Hot Springs & your sushi lunch. I too find RPS #2 tough. Much tougher than #1. I don't believe I completed the entire workout either. I'm still working on combos 5 & 6 from #1. LOL

Cindy: You asked for the sweet potato brownie recipe. Here it is:

1 medium size sweet potato
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup raw honey
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
1 Tbsp. gluten free baking powder
1/2 Tbsp. baking soda
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 Tbsp. coconut flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Preheat oven to 365 degrees. Microwave sweet potato & put into bowl with egg, vanilla, honey & oil in food processor. I just used my egg beater to make it smooth.
Add baking powder & baking soda & combine.
Add cocoa powder & mix.
Finally add the coconut flour & chocolate chips if you desire.
Put mixture into pan & smooth out & bake for 25-30 min.
(These are AWESOME!)

You can also try eating some figs to ward off the sugar craving. I find that helps too.

I must be blocked here at work b/c I can never view anyone's pictures. I'm not on Facebook. :(

Take care everyone,
Kathy

Was getting ready to go to the dentist and realized I had a tear in my eye. Couldn't figure it out. On the way there, I was crying. Had to compose myself before I got there. All went well with the 4 fillings. Went home and looked on the calendar and realized it has been 4 years to the day my mommy died. No wonder I was so teary eyed. My memories of her always start off when she made each 9 of us feel like her favorite. Incredible how she did that. Miss her so much! I remember her death so well. But when they took her away it was even worse. Sorry you guys, having a hard day today.

Had Yoga Foundation 1 today, but really wanted to try the plow once again on Yoga Foundation 2, so I did this instead. Almost there, but not quite. Will do it again until I do this, along with the shoulder stand before I can move on to another yoga. I'm determined! L:)L

Kathy Sis, So glad you are finally feeling better. Great job on Rapire Fire 4 SWEAT the kickboxing and abs prem. Enjoy Flex Train tonight. Body Fusion is one of Cathy's beginner workouts (doesn't feel like it though) I think the DVD is called Basic Step + Body Fusion. Don't quote me though. LOL

I do need your address.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Today was a stretch day and then off to Quantico for another long day of work. At least we made some progress today. Everyone seemed more energized because we are finally accomplishing something. Whole different energy in the room now. Tomorrow I start the 3rd week of STS meso 1. Boy, time sure does fly by when doing STS.

Janie: so sorry today was a sad/melancholy day for you. Your heart remembered the day before your mind did--the human body works in amazing ways. Body Fusion can hit me like a ton of bricks sometimes too. And you are correct the dvd is Basic Step and Body Fusion.

Kathy: today is the first post where you don't mention still feeling the effects of the bug that you had. I'm taking that as a good sign. Enjoy Flex Train!

Laura: RS is one of my all time favorites. I still sweat like crazy doing that workout. As you get back in shape, it will get easier.

Michelle

Michelle, I'm making it sound like I'm some kind of special person. I did see the night before that is was the eve of her anniversary death. But when I woke up the next day I'd forgotten until I came home from the dentist and saw the calendar again. Then realized why I was crying.

Great job on a stretch day and off to Quantico for work. Glad to hear you are making progress on whatever project you are on. Congratulations for starting STS 3rd week meso 1.

Take care,

Janie

Last night I was feeling strong. I'm definitely coming BACK! I used the same weights as Cathe & crew. Even though I was coughing I made it through the entire workout. However, since I did abs w/RF4 the other day I just couldn't muster up enough energy to do one more round of the last ab exercise from Flex Train. Gave myself a pat on the back anyway.

Tonight I'll rest. I need it after doing all that last night.

Janie Sis: I sent you from yesterday's post my home address. I'm sorry that your feeling sad today. I lost my mother at the age of 25 & its still fresh for me especially around Mother's Day & Xmas. I know how you feel. Glad you did your yoga practice again. What is Plow pose? I don't remember ever doing that one. Glad you got all your fillings completed. I have quite a bit of work on my teeth. Argh! DH too.

Michelle: Time does go by fast when doing STS. Don't know why that is it just is. Glad you did a stretch today. Hope you don't have to do overtime in Quantico.

Wave to Laura & Cindy!

Kathy

Tonight was Total Body Sculpting. Had a good workout.

Here is what the plow looks like.

Images for yoga plow

Kathy Sis, Yea for coming back strong! Using the same weight as Cathe and Crew is quite an accomplishment. I'm also giving you a pat on the back. Good job! Thank you for the address. Oh my, loosing a mother at such an earily age must have been unimaginable.

Take care,

Janie

Yesterday was STS disc 7 (yes, I'm into week 3 already) and today was Rhythmic Step. Thought I'd give that one a try since Laura mentioned that whe had done RS this past week. As far as I'm concerned, that is still a challenging step workout. I always have a combination of mental fatigue and endurance fatigue on that one, but I made it through.

Otherwise taking it easy today. I miss my pup more when I'm extra tired. He was such a source of relaxation for me. Oh well....Trying to recover from a long work week. Talk about needing to build up endurance. I had so much leave to burn that it's been a while (like since early October) since I worked a full five days.

Janie: you are doing great with taking it slow getting back into your workouts. And by the way: you are some kind of a special person.

Kathy: I could tell from your posts this week that you are feeling better. Keeping up with Cathe and crew on XTRAIN is super!

Michelle
