Getting Our Licks In!

Last night I was crabby, I think the feeling of so much to do and so little time hit me, but I did the Athletic Training Leg Cardio Express and felt great after in all ways. Worth it for the 180 degree change in attitude. The workout had me dripping sweat and I took a few more breaks than normal but I did up my step a bit - figure I need to push myself a little more to make the shorter workouts count. Tonight I have Hiit 40/20 planned and then some Clean Max afterwards - I did get the house dusted this morning before I got the kids up so that was nice. Lily also has her Christmas program tonight, she says she's worried about talking in front of everyone and I've been trying to put her at ease. Her music teacher is awesome and I know she'll be there to help her through. We do have to get there early though so we're in the front row like she wants.

Laura - Great job on staying active! You do a lot :) I still am looking at losing 20-25 pounds to get to where I want to be. I've done a couple things lately that have helped me drop the pounds. Initially I was doing intermittent fasting where I would eat normal 5 days a week (1200-1500) calories and then 2 days a week I would eat 0-500 calories. My body really likes this and responds to it because I was dropping 2-4 pounds a week with this - I've actually just started it up again this week in earnest. In between the IF diet I did the Advocare 24 day challenge and I lost about 8-9 pounds on that but it's more of a jumpstart/metabolism booster than a long term thing. I am 5'3" and 154 pounds right now, I want to get into the 140's before the 1st (I know dieting during the Holiday's can be hard but I feel if I have a goal it will keep me from mindlessly eating junk) and then in the 120's by summer. How was the concert last night?

Janie - The blue band is tighter and I used it last night with the leg cardio express and my butt and thighs were burning - it felt great.

Kathy - The timesaver workout is from the Timesaver DVD, I think you'll really like it some of the step routines are really fun. I'll keep you posted on the P90X3 - it's supposed to arrive on Monday though I won't start it until after Christmas since we'll be gone for a few days.

Cindy

Joey is buying me a 61 key keyboard for Christmas. I mentioned I've been wanting to play piano for ever and now it looks like I'm getting one for Christmas. Yea! I can't wait! Haven't played piano at all and looking forward to learning it.

Kathy Sis, Great job on last nights X10 Cardio Blast and CTX triceps. You sure did have energy. Wow! I had my foot x raid and found no broken or fractures at all. She said it's a sprain and could take as long as 3 months to heal. Yeah, I know. Bummer.

Cindy, Aw, crabby girl good for you doing Athletic Training Leg Cardio Express. Did you get enough sleep? Great job on dustmax as well. How id the Lilly's Christmas program go?

Have a good evening,

Janie

Lily's Christmas Program went great, she looked so adorable up there and handled her line with no problem. I can tell she really loves music and her teacher :) I did Hiit 40/20 last night, it was a sweatfest and I was sucking air. I then cleaned the house and that is a big relief.

I have a busy weekend that got busier the past couple days. Tonight I have to bake the gluten free gingerbread houses for the kids to decorate tomorrow, tomorrow morning we have a birthday party and it was a late invite so we'll go to Target tonight to get hime a gift. Saturday night I have wine club and then Sunday I have to bake Kringla for the hubs and cut out GF sugar cookies for Brodie so he has a cookie for his class party. I can do it and hope to also get my planned workouts in too. Tonight I'll do X10 Hi/Lo, tomorrow morning I'm planning for X10 Cardio and Sunday Athletic Training Upper Body Express. Busy but good :)

Janie - How exciting to get a keyboard! I grew up playing piano and we bought one when we bought our house but I never have time to play and if I do try I have kids plunking away right next to me. Have fun learning, it is a lot of fun. I've been doing well with sleep, Lucas hasn't woke for me the past two nights so that's been nice, now to get Lily to stop waking me to go to the bathroom at 3am :)

Last night was just Classical Stretch. I forgot how good this is for your body. I needed it.

Cindy: Your one busy mom. My DS wants to make gingerbread cookies just like we used to when he was a little boy. I thought that was so cute. What's Kringla? Never heard of it. I have to be gluten free too but I'm usually not that strict w/the diet. I'm happy to hear that Lily did a good job in the Xmas program. And your working up some sweat there w/your workouts. I think X10 hi-lo & cardio blast are very similar aren't they?

Janie Sis: That's wonderful that you want to learn the piano & DH bought it for you. I used to play as a teenager but unfortunately gave it up. Have fun learning!

Take care,
Kathy

Took Rolly in to get his nails clipped yesterday. He is so much happier. So excited abut the keyboard! Should get it before Christmas. Getting a space ready for it to play. Also getting sheet music for one day to play. Halleluiah, Gravity, Joey's and my favorite Somewhere In Time and his most favorite Stardust, the song my mother use to sing before all her problems It's A Sin To Tell A Lie. Looking now for easy piano books. O, also got a beginners book for adults. Can't Wait! Looking for more sheet music today. Just finished using my Knifty knitter and finished a pair of leg warmers. Nice an warm. Also thinking about cleaning the house but mostly doing a doodle drawing. Something with music notes in it. LOL

Cindy, Aww looks like Lilly is getting confidence in music, maybe it will be in her future. Great job on 40/20. Love it when there is a sweat fest. I'm thinking about cleaning the house. LOL Wow you are very busy! Remember to take some deep breaths and have some time for yourself even if it means working out. If you can. Most of all enjoy the holidays with family and friends. What kind of piano do you have. You are so lucky! I'd get a piano but they are so expensive! I'll wait and see how I do on the little keyboard. LOL

Kathy Sis, Great job on the stretching last night. O yes indeed, it also feels sooooooo good.

Take care everyone,

Janie

This has been a very long and very hard week. Yesterday, we said good-bye to my dear sweet pup, Ripken. He has gone to the rainbow bridge. Bear with me as I get through this time of grief and adjustment.
Michelle

Michelle, Oh my sweet friend. I'm so so sorry for your loss. I've gotten to know Ripken through you and I too am so saddened by this news. Through cyberspace I'm helping to dry your tears and crying with you.

It brings back memories of how my little Molly has passed. I see her as I look up at cloud formations and she's playing and happy and in no more pain. I swear she does that on purpose just for me.

I'm so sorry, prayers and many many hugs,

Janie

Friday I did my first Spin class and I LOVED it! My feet, ankles and knees have been taking a pounding with all the High Impact work and the fact that the space I can workout has a cement floor has not helped at all! I also did the Bicep section of Burn Sets. My arms were killer sore the next day! I swear that workout has the best burn the next day.

Yesterday I took the day off and went to a Holiday Ball last night. It was fun but not worth the ticket price of $30. I did dance so that counts for some movement in the day..

Today I did Rocking Step 1 again. Now that I have the choreography down it is so much fun, although I was getting dizzy this time as there is so much turning and spinning in this workout. I broke a very intense sweat though.

We are having some neighbors over for a little holiday get together and they should be coming any minute

Michelle I am so sad about Ripken, he was such a wonderful pup and I don't think you ever posted where you didn't mention him. I know what an amazing companion he was for you and I am sure his loss is huge. Please know that I am here for you in anyway that I can be, much love Laura

Well, today I did not cry as much as yesterday. I think my eyes are less puffy. I keep looking for my sweet pup but of course, he is not here. I did Party Rocking Step 2, timesaver 1 this afternoon. It feels good to exercise but I miss having Ripken with me. No more getting his licks in when I'm done. That is the hardest part of exercising; he was pretty much always there. Tomorrow I will go back to work. I've tried to stay busy this weekend. I hit griefwalls; cry, and move on.

Janie: I will mention to sister that you are going to learn to play the piano. She is a music teacher and teaches piano and she probably would have some good guidance for you. Plus, I might get her to actually "check-in" again. She has lost 45 pounds since April. I am very proud of her for losing the weight again. It is not easy.

Michelle

I can finally tenderly walk on my foot for the first time today. My back is completely healed and I'm so ready to work out. Will still wait until after Christmas though, to make sure my foot is healed.

Laura
, Great job on your first Spin class and the bicep section of Burn Sets. It truly is a break for your feet, ankles and knees. OOOOOoooo a Holiday Ball. Just the sound of it seems so important. Also great job on today's Rocking Step 1. I may have to revisit that one soon. Enjoy your night with the holiday get together with neighbors.

Michelle, It will take time, Ripken is worth the grieving. He was such a loyal friend. I know how hard it is to grieve, it's so heartbreaking.

Great job on Rocking Step 2, timesaver 1. Maybe Ripken is in another dimension now, and he is still getting his licks in after every workout. We simply don't know, but maybe. My heart hurts here too.

Would love to have Renee's guidance for learning how to play the piano! It would be so wonderful to have her back here. I miss her. Please congratulate her for me for losing 45 pounds. Wow, she put in a lot of effort and time to make that happen. Good for her! I know it's not easy.

Cindy, Thank you for the Christmas card. It's so nice to put names on faces. You have such a lovely family.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Had a relaxing weekend.

Saturday I did KCM's step boxing workout #2 + CTX chest + Ab Circuits med ball section.
Sunday was Timesaver workout #4 (Kick, Punch, Crunch kickboxing + shoulders + CTX's triceps
Tonight will be going out for eats & drinks w/co-workers. Should be fun.

Michelle: Its heartbreaking losing a beloved pet b/c there so much more than a pet. Ripken was your furry best friend. My heart goes out to you. I know how it feels. Ripken will always be with you. My cat, Lexington's remains are in the living room with his picture. I had to put my beloved cat down right after Sandy. I'm glad to hear though that you were exercising. It takes your mind off of this at least for a little while.

Janie Sis: Have fun with your new toy the piano. I'm glad that your finally able to gingerly walk on the foot & that your back is all healed. Its smart to still rest the foot.

Laura: I too love spinning! I'm not surprised that you love it too. The Holiday Ball sounded like fun! How did it go w/the get together w/the neighbors?

Cindy: How did the gingerbread house turn out? Did you manage to get all your Xmas shopping done yet?

Take care,
Kathy

I took Friday night off from exercise but got up bright and early on Sat to do X10 STEP. Had a busy day with the b-day party, decorating the gingerbread house and wine club. Sunday I baked 3 types of cookies since Lily's teacher called me Sat saying she needed gingerbread cookie dough for Lily on Wed, I don't want to bake cookies for a LONG time! Now to frost a few and be done!. I was exhausted last night but did the first P90X3 workout with Dave and it wasn't bad, some of the moves were a challenge and I got a decent heart rate with them. Sometimes his breaks a bit too long for me though.

Tonight I'll either do P90X3 again or what I planned for a Cathe workout, it will depend on what Dave has planned. Lucas is sick so he's at the doctor with Dave right now - he has croup the poor little man.

Michelle - I'm so sorry you lost Ripken! Know that he's smiling down on you right now. I'm sending hugs across the internet!

Kathy - Kringla is a Norwegian sweet bread cookie, it's formed into a pretzel shape and so tasty. The gingerbread house is decorated very randomly, just like my kids and I have all my Christmas shopping done so most everything is done on my list, woo! Great job staying active & how was your eats and drinks?

Janie - Pianos are a lot of money and heavy! I have an upright so it doesn't take up too much space. You'll love learning to play and a keyboard is a great option. Yeah for your foot and back feeling better, here's to full healing through Christmas!

Cindy

Lean Legs and Abs this morning. Trying to figure out how to establish a new daily routine without my sweet pup. I feel totally off-center right now.

Cindy: I am curious to hear from you what you think of the X10 workouts. I hope that Lucas gets well before Christmas and no one else comes down with the croup. I've been contemplating making Christmas cookies but I'm not a baker so at this point it is all just a thought and nothing else. My DH enjoys Christmas cookies so maybe I will make some for him.

Kathy: it sounds like you are doubling up on some of your workouts. That's amazing given the time of year that it is. Good for you.

Hi to Janie and Laura.
Michelle

12-17-13

Last night was fun w/the ladies. Good eats & drinks. Tonight I'll be doing Great Glutes.

Michelle: You'll get there with figuring out a new routine. Its going to take time. It may sound like I'm doubling up but the cardios are short & so is the weight training. I don't have a lot of shopping to do for Xmas. Cards & $$ get sent to my nephews, a care package goes off to my one nephew who's a Captain in the Army. He's stationed over in Kuwait right now. DH doesn't require much & DS always gets his early b/c his birthday falls on 12/10th. I have it easy.

Cindy: Your into Baking Max aren't you. The gingerbread house must have been fun to do w/the kids. Glad you got all your shopping done. What did you think of the X10 Step? I haven't done that one yet. What did you think of the P90X3 workouts? Are they hard? I'm wondering if I would be able to do them.

Janie Sis: Are you baking anything for Xmas? Did you receive the keyboard yet?

Waves to Laura!

Take care,
Kathy

Yoga Relax premix 1 this morning. Then a full day at Quantico. Tomorrow I work part of the day and then I'm off for the rest of the year. Time to relax, exercise, visit family, and exercise some more. Tomorrow Ripken comes home from the crematorium. My DH wants to have one of our pictures of Ripken blown up and framed, then we will place his urn with his ashes on a shelf underneath his picture. We did that for our first dog, Plug, a yellow labrador retriever.

Kathy: I really like Great Glutes and Lean Legs and Abs. I think Great Glutes is the one with all those pizza presses that make me see stars! Good luck with those.

Hi to Janie, Laura, and Cindy. Hope everyone is getting their licks in even if you are busy.
Michelle

My hair is finally down to my waist. It's taking me years. YaHoo! Now let's see how much longer and I can get it.

Kathy Sis, Great job on KCM's step boxing workout 2 and CTX chest and ab Circuits med ball section. Also for Sunday's Time saver workout 4 and shourlders plus CTX triceps.

Cindy, Good for Friday's rest. Great job on Sat. X10 Step. I bet everything looks good for the birthday party and for Lily's cookies. You put a lot of work into it. Great job on the P90X3 with Dave. Oh, poor Lucas. Hugs to him.

Michelle, Great job on Lean Legs and Abs. I'm sure you will figure out a daily routine in time and find some kind of balance.

Kathy Sis, Not baking this year, but am bringing some apple cyder and snack for the poker game. Sounds like you had a blast with your friends.

Michelle, Great job on Yoga Relax prem. 1. Oh how nice to have a vacation of sorts starting tomorrow and ending with a New Year. Enjoy all the things you want to do during that time. I love how you will be remembering Ripken.

Take care ladies,

Janie

12-18-13

Last night I survived Great Glutes no stability ball premix. All those pizza presses do make me see stars but I made it through w/out caving. I need to purchase a new stability ball. Mine is looking more like a med ball these days! LOL Cathe isn't selling any. She must be all out. Where else can I search?

Janie Sis: I like apple cider & what kind of snacks? I don't know how to play poker. My co-worker likes to go to Atlantic City to play video poker. It must be fun. I did have a blast w/my friends. That's long hair you have! I don't think I could grow my hair that long anymore. I just cut mine recently in a semi-long bob.

Michelle: Great job on Yoga Relax. I never could get into Cathe's Yoga Relax or the other one. Even the premixes are too long for my taste. Such a beautiful thing to do w/Ripken. That's what I did w/my Lexington.

Take care ladies,
Kathy

Monday night I did Athletic Training Upper body and had major DOMS on Tuesday. Lucas is still miserable with his croup and I was exhausted last night from lack of sleep so I opted for bed shortly after 9 and skipped working out, I feel a lot better today too. I hope he's better before we head to my parents for Christmas. Tonight I will either do another P90X3 or Hiit 30/30, it all depends on what Dave has planned.

Michelle - I love to bake but I need to learn to not eat so much of it! I like the X10 workouts, the warmup is peppy and fun and then the workouts are an intense sweat pouring impact and really work you out for the short amount of time they take. Cathe has a lot of premixes covering various times and I haven't even started to try them. What a sweet plan for Ripken, I love it!

Kathy - I'm glad you had a great night with the ladies, we all need those! I tried to cut down on my baking this year but cookies kept getting added, now to pawn all the sweets off on other :) I like the X10 STEP, it's definitely a challenge for me. I think if you do Cathe you can handle P90X no problem, Cathe is much harder and she doesn't give you as much time between moves. I want to try Great Glutes, your descriptions intrigue me :)

Janie - That's awesome your hair is that long! Lily just had 3 inches cut off and hers is still really long, she loves it that way.

Cindy

Hi everyone. Did X10 38 minute premix today; it includes low impact and step. It's all I can do to get through two of the X10 segments. Tough, tough, tough. Ripken is back home. Right now his box is sitting in the family room on the tv shelf of the entertainment center. We don't use this particular piece of furniture for the tv anymore since we got a big flatscreen, so it is a good place for Ripken. I moved one of my smaller framed pictures of him next to his box-urn. It is good to have him home.

Cindy: that was probably a good idea to get a good night's sleep. Hopefully, you will be fresh for exercise today. It is nice that you are your DH work out together from time to time.

Janie: wow, you really have let your hair grow long. At some point are you planning to cut it off and donate it? I have a colleague at work who does that. I would not have the patience to let my hair grow that long plus I wouldn't know what to do with it on a daily basis. You are pretty creative so you probably have no problems handling long hair and doing fun things with it.

Kathy--uh-oh, I have Great Glutes tomorrow. I was hoping premix 3 wouldn't have the pizza presses but I guess I have to gear up for seeing stars as well. It is nice to know that I'm not the only one who feels that way after all those pizza presses.

I'm off from work now through January 1st. My goal is to deal with one thing each day that I've been ignoring rather than just ignoring it. Not sure what that will be tomorrow but I'll figure that out in the morning. No rush--I've got time. I hope everyone is getting their licks in but taking some time to relax and enjoy this time of year, as well.
Michelle

Here is the latest drawing I did. It's been done a month now I think, but this person didn't want it shown until now. My first nude. She also doesn't want her name mentioned. I'm still working on my newest doodle. Taking more time to do it for some reason.

408391970.jpg

Kathy Sis, Great job on Great Glutes. Very proud of you, I know pizza presses are hard.

Cindy, Great job on Athletic Training Upper Body and congrats on the DOM's. I don't blame you for skipping a workout. Get some much needed sleep. Hop Lucas gets better soon.

Michelle
, Great job on X10 38 min. premix. with the low impact step. Good for you! Aw, I'm glad Ripken is back with you. (hugs)

If they will take long gray hair then I will donate it sometime in the future. I'll look into it. I usually wear it in a ponytail or behind my head. I dress it up a bit when I go out.

Take care everyone,

Janie
