Getting Our Licks In!

Stress set in with me last night (I need about an additional hour to my evening between the kids going to be and me going to bed) and by the time Lucas was down, I paid bills, and wrapped a few things I had to get done it was 9:50 and I didn't get my workout in. I have a lot to do tonight and had some (getting Lucas's cake started) added because Dave wants to get out for a date night tomorrow night. Hopefully I can get it all in! I have done two 20 min walks today with work and plan to do Hiit 30/30. We are getting snow today but so far it's barely sticking, we'll see if soccer is cancelled or not.

I'm done with the 24 day challenge and will be doing my measurements and final weigh-in tomorrow morning, I don't think I lost the 10 pounds I was hoping for, oh well!

Kathy - I've had to stop and watch her choreo too, I find that if I just do what feels right I usually do better than when I overthink it.

Michelle - I'm sure you'll do great at Party Rockin Step even without the preview :) Glad you had a great first day of vacation. Brodie is going to be a which ninja from GI Joe and Lily is going to be a disco girl. She saw the dress and wanted it so that was that. Lucas is going to be a bat, it's a hand me down from Brodie and a really cute costume.

Kathy- I usually don't really notice the music much on the DVD's so I'm interested to see if I would with this one. Glad you enjoyed the workout.

Laura - Such great news with the judge finding in your favor! What a relief :) Great job staying on task with the exercise and enjoy the DVD preview today.

Cindy

Dave cancelled our date night tonight because he thinks he needs to work with my dad on the basement, I'm bummed but it means I can focus on the cake tonight. I received my X10 DVD and did the fat burning segment instead of Hiit - it is high energy and go, go, go! It's awesome for a short intense workout. Lots of premixes too so I'll be sampling those babies :) My house is clean and I believe I'm ready for my parents to get her today. Tomorrow we're going to the Pumpkin Patch to celebrate Lucas's birthday in the morning and then in the late afternoon, once my IL's arrive, we'll have dinner, cake, and presents. Should be fun. I had to flat out tell my MIL no when she asked if she could bake a cake also. I don't think 9 people need to split 2 cakes!

I took my measurements from the 24 day challenge and lost 7.6 pounds and 13.6 inches, I won't complain :)

What's everyone's plan for the weekend?

Cindy

Sorry about being MIA, our computer here (Beach House) has a small bandwidth and we used it up this month. When trying to go to pages it took forever. Then Joey added some money and now we are UP for a little while longer. Such a headache. Living in such a rural area sometimes sucks when it comes to technology. Phone too, we are always paying for roaming charges. OK enough already. Joe and I spent about an hour or so on our bikes yesterday, just riding around our area. So much fun! Joey, Rolly and I went to a popular trail at Westport and walked about 2 hours and a half. It was so beautiful at the oceans side. Wow.

Kathy, Great job doing the entire Flex Train. I think I will love this one too. Thank you for the review, so exited to get these DVD's. Enjoy your achy DOM's.

Michelle, Even on vacations errands can be fun, just because I guess you are home. Great job on the walk with Ripken. You are so lucky to have a clean bill of health on teeth. Mine are always needing desperate cleaning. Getting a sonic brush to help with that soon. Oh no, work? It's too bad your vacation was interrupted. Great job on IMAX3 interals only prem., laundry, finishing a book, Yea! And the rest of the errands. Aw, it was you who gave me the idea for a recovery week. Should have known. It's a fantastic idea and doing it. Oh, I new I forgot a shutdown somewhere, I'd forgotten Clinton administration.

Laura, You lucky girl getting your DVD's. Mine are suppose to be at Shelton today. So darn glad the settlement in your divorce is going better and less stressful. Great job on Monday's run, Tuesday's classes and Cardio Burn, Wednesday's last mes cycle 1 chest shoulders and biceps. Also the Lindy-Hop Swing Dance. Sounds fun!

Cindy, Not easy for a mother with little ones, that's for sure. Sometimes we just can't find time for ourselves. It's OK. Great job on the two 20 min. walks. Hopefully soccer wont' be canceled. Congrats doing the 24 day challenge. Hey, you did it and your body is stronger for it. Good job.

Cindy, Sorry about the date being canceled. Cool you got Cathe's new DVD's. Great job doing the fat burning segment. Enjoy the pumpkin patch, dinner, cake and present opening with your family tomorrow to celebrate Lucas's birthday. Must feel really good loosing 7.6 pounds and 13.6 inches and especially thinking you didn't do anything. Good for you, you should be so proud.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Hi Everyone!

Last night was a good session at PT. Arm always feels fantastic after she uses the laser. Don't know why but I'll have her keep using it. Tonight's another rest day. I may decide to do a Stretch Max.

Cindy: I don't have much hope for Brodie's coach w/soccer practice. Your due for some snow aren't you? Bummer that your DH cancelled your date night. It sounds like everyone will have fun at Lucas's birthday party. What kind of cake are you making for him? I love cake that's why I'm asking. Can you push a slice through cyberspace for me? LOL Your loss of 13.6 inches is wonderful!!!! What's in store now since the challenge is over?

Laura: I feel your excitement re receiving the new dvds. We do feel like kids in a candy store don't we? Enjoy them whenever you get a chance to try them out. They're awesome! Congrats on the judge favoring you!! What a stress relief that is. Now you can relax for a while. I always wanted to learn how to Lindy swing dance. Is it hard? It must be. And great job on all of your workouts.

Janie Sis: Glad to see you back on here. You should be receiving the dvds soon now. Which one will you try first? I'll take where you live any day opposed to working in the city. Too much stress, hussel & bussel fast paced constantly. That's why NYer's can be nasty at times.

DH & I are supposed to get together w/some good friends & go out to dinner Saturday night.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend. I know Michelle's having a good time. Wish I was there.

Kathy

Today was a bike ride with my Joey for 40 min. We went to investigate how the growers of Ocean Spray Cranberries were doing. We were hoping for a lot of action, instead they were winding down and putting the equipment away. We missed the most busy part of picking to boxing to sending out their crops. Darn. We will remember that starting in Sept. is the time to investigate. Also Rolly and I went for a walk on the beach for about 40 min. Very beautiful weather we are having the last couple of days. Hopefully tomorrow as well.

Kathy sis, So glad you had a good session with the PT. Enjoy your well deserved rest day. I don't know which one of the new DVD's to do yet. Will go to Shelton on Monday and pick them up and then a flu shot, a stop at Costco and back to the Beach House for a couple more weeks. I hope. I love the BH and I agree, even with the computer down I want to stay here during this fabulous Fall weather. Did you have a good time with friends and where did you go for dinner?

Take care,

Janie

Hi Ladies

Well it's been a crazy day! The girls had their Pre-Pointe Class this morning at 10am, then Eliza had rehearsal from1:30-2:30 and I ran to the store to get the last minute things for their 13th Birthday Party, and then dashed home and finished my workout and showered and did some decorating and then dropped Eliza off at a friends house and took Sophia to her Rehearsal from 4:30-5:30 and then to a school pot luck party at a friends house and then picked up 6 teenage girls and brought them back here for a sleep over party!! Had more food, cupcakes, presents and now all the girls are settled in on mattress on the floor in the rec room and watching Pretty Little Liars!! PHEW! I can't believe I got it all done and have to say it's gone pretty smoothly considering I am flying solo and doing it all on my own....

And my workouts were Athletic Step (Great sweat and easy choreography) and last Back & Triceps of Meso Cycle 1!:p

Anyone doing the October Rotation? It looks good, I might have to drop the STS and do this one and then pick up Meso Cycle 2 in November..

Janie all your rides and walks sound so relaxing and stress relieving! It seems like a vacation life style! Maybe I should come visit..

Kathy: glad to hear PT is so successful for you! Did you do Stretch Max? Yes the Lindy Hop is kinda of a complicated dance, its really to main steps put together including the Charleston which I got down but it is a tremendous amount of spinning around and its hard not to get dizzy

Cindy hope the party went well! WOW one year's old ..that brings back some memories...congrats on the weight loss!

The Birthday party was a hit and went off smoothly! Nice to get that done..now on to Halloween Dances and Halloween night....

After reading the thread about Rockout Knock out I had to give it a go and I have to say it was a fun workout! I was smiling ear to ear during the cardio sections which upped the fun factor of course= and I added on the STS no equipment abs which is pretty tough stuff

Hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday!

Went to a completely different beach that I didn't know about until the day before yesterday. And (guess what?) went there again today and found the huge clam shells I've been looking for all Summer to do Doodle art on. I must have searched on the beach for them for at least 2.5 hrs. and got at least 50+ and for sure have 12 huge ones to my complete surprise. Just call it my day off and the end of the active recovery week. Tomorrow Joey and I will head out to Olympia (the biggest city around our area other than Seattle) and get our flu shots, pick up Cathe's DVD's and other mail and off we go back to the Beach House for another couple of weeks or less. We'll see how it goes. Right now it's raining like cats and dogs. Will start on the October rotation starting with Rockout Knockout. I can't wait!

Laura, OMG! You did have a very busy day! Hope your days aren't always like that. You even had time for Athletic Step and last Back & Triceps of Meso Cycle 1. Will be doing STS around Christmas time. LOL yep, I love the life I have and it is serene. Would love for you to come and visit. ANYTIME!

So Glad the party was such a good hit. Enjoy the decorating of Halloween.
Great job on Rockout Knock Out and the addition of STS no equipment abs. Yep, tough stuff! Good for you.

Take care,

Janie

Hi Ladies!

Weekends just go by too fast don't they? Saturday I did Flex Train again. Love this one! Sunday was Rockout Knockout. I did the entire workout + the Bonus Heavy Bag. Let me start off by saying Cathe improved on this one from Hardstrikes which btw I can't stand. I'm used to Amy Bento Ross & Susan Chung. However, that last segment Kickbox Combos the combos were creative but just took my heart rate too far down. Too slow. It felt like I was taking a stroll. But I did like this one. Interesting how Cathe put it into 3 different sections. Next time I do this one I'll do the Cardio with Gloves & do a section from X10. Tonight will be Legs & Abs. The couple that was supposed to go out to dinner w/me & DH bailed. DH & I went out anyway. We went to a place called Waterzooi. Its a Belgian Bistro place. Good food & drinks. Sunday DH put up Halloween decorations. He loves to do this. And my DS bought the mums for the front of the house. It looks so pretty now! :)

Janie Sis: Your days are so serene & relaxing. What I wouldn't give to have every day like yours. Me & Laura will come visit. I deal w/hussel & bussel every day pushing & shoving w/everybody. Too many people. But I do look forward to coming home. I'm glad I live on a quiet block. Hurry up & pick up your new dvds & do that Oct. rotation. It does look good.

Laura: You had one busy weekend. The girls birthday party sounded so much fun for them. Not so much for you. Your day sounded exhausting! I bet you couldn't wait to hit the sack that night. Not to mention you even had time to squeeze in 2 workouts. Kudos! You'll have to abandon STS for now & do the new dvds. I never did get around to doing Stretch Max. By Friday I'm dead. The Charleston I know how to do but that Linday would get some practice. Glad you enjoy to dance as much I do.

Take care ladies! TTYT,
Kathy

It was a busy weekend but all in all fun. I spent Friday putting together a plane cake for Lucas's big day and it was a PITA! My frosting wasn't cooperating so I had to run to the store to get more shortening because I think the other stuff was bad out of the container, I at least made it look decent and will try to post a picture when I have time to get them on the computer. Saturday we hit the pumpkin patch and had a blast, I think we got some good pics of the kids. Once my IL's arrived we did cake and presents and he was a happy little boy. Sunday the kids went swimming then we were off to soccer. Lily's building up better stamina on running and didn't tire out as quickly, she did great. Brodie's team struggled - what a surprise when they haven't been playing/practicing for 2 weeks - and I had to remind him to not get frustrated. He had some great blocks and overall they did well the last 3 quarters.

I ate way too much sugar this weekend (it's all gone now) and didn't exercise so it's back to it today. I am going to do Afterburn tonight. Since I'm done with the 24 day challenge I'm going back to counting my calories and fasting 2 days out of the week - it seems to work really well for me.

Janie - That's great you found the shells you've been looking for and a new beach. Sounds like you have quite a bit to do before heading to the beach house, I hope the rain lets up for you.

Kathy - I wish I could push cake through hyperspace, then it could save me some calories :) Glad the laser makes you feel so much better, I wonder how it does it?

Laura - Sounds like you had one crazy day! So glad the birthday party went well, it was fun going over "what we were doing 1 year ago" with my husband as we led up to Lucas's birth time. Crazy how they grow so quickly.

Cindy

Back from a couple of days away with my DH and my sweet pup. We went down to the Northern Neck for the scattering of Janet's ashes. It was a beautiful day and although it was a sad event, I feel like I have reached a sense of closure on her passing away. We spent a truly lazy day on Saturday at the Tides Inn and then met some friends who live just across the creek for dinner. We have not seen them in seven or eight years and we really had a wonderful time. Came back home yesterday (Sunday) and guess what? I took off two days from exercising (Saturday and Sunday) after getting flex train in on Friday morning before we left for the weekend. Started the October rotation today. I really enjoyed the music in ROKO. Also did Jillian Michael's six-pack abs (first 18 minutes).

Kathy: I think if you check out some of the premixes on ROKO, you might find one that is to your liking wrt keeping your heartrate up. Looks like Cathe has provided a few options there that might be to your liking. Great news on the arm. Sounds like you are well along on the healing road.

Laura and Cindy: I honestly do not know which one of you is busier being a mom. Your posts leave me breathless and wondering how in the heck you two get so much packed into one day. You are both amazing.

Cindy: now I'm hoping for a picture of the birthday cake. Sounds like it was a wonderful birthday for Lucas.

Laura: congratulations of a positive ruling wrt the divorce proceedings. I knew I heard a big sigh of relief last week--that must have been you.:)

Janie: I'm looking forward to seeing your clam shell art. Please post pictures. Will you be selling these? Thanks for mentioning flu shots: DH and I need to put that on our "to do" list.

Hope everyone has a great week!
Michelle

Monday...and we are off on another week already...did I even have a weekend?

Today was a run day but I still feel like doing something else...as it is almost 9am I might just pop in Stretch Max and call it good..

Michelle: welcome home and I am glad you had that day to bring closure to your good friend Janet's life that is why doing those type of things are so helpful for our psyche's. I bet your body appreciated a few down days! Rest days and occasional weeks are really important in the fitness lifestyle and so easy to over look or to not do them...

Cindy: I am glad your weekend plans went well, I used to love to go to the Pumpkin Patch but my girls were over that by 7 I think I forced two more years after that out of them before I finally realized I needed to let it go.....this year they are evening saying they don't want to even carve a pumpkin! Can you believe that? I might make them do it one more year!
I hear you on the sugar, I got to get that back under control myself!

Kathy: That's awesome you love to dance too! I bet there are a zillion choices for you to go dancing! Did I read that you live in the Big Apple?I really liked ROKO, but I really enjoy KB so... I haven't tried the other ladies you mentioned but I might check them out on line after this post. I agree though that the punching -kicking combos' do drop the heart rate, it would be cool to scramble it up and do a cardio segment than a combo and back and forth like that...

Janie: how fun to discover a new beach and fun new art projects about to happen! Can't wait to see what you do with the shells. I hope you get your DVD's!

Went first thing, to get our flu shot, then some errands, then got Cathe DVD's and now back at the Beach House. Viewed first and the October Rotation was Rockout Knockout. Did it but used the time saver #1. I love how boxing exercises are so very good to the abs. I felt my abs tight and being used all the way through the workout. Not to mention how my upper body was fatigued by using (not my boxing gloves because they are at the other place) the weighted gloves. Fantastic! Sweat fest! Again for me it's what I put into the workout that makes or breaks the workout.

Kathy sis, Great job on Sat doing Flex Train. Sunday's entire Rockout Knockout +the Bonus Heavy Bag. Wow, I'm impressed. Your plan for making it better for you sounds like a good one. Sorry about the couple bailing out on you guys for dinner. Still nice you went out together anyway. Bistro sounds sooooooo good. Some Men are big kids when it comes to Halloween, love how they get all excited. Joey and I take our retirement seriously and go out of our way to have serene and relaxing days. Sometimes we have a lot of work to do with the two houses, but it's truly worth it and it keeps us going. You and Laura are so welcome to come visit us any time. I'd like to see what my new cyberspace sister looks like. ;)

Cindy, OOoo sorry about the frosting. Would love to see a photo of the cake. When my daughter was young, I remember the good times at the pumpkin patch. I bet the party was a blast too. Love it when the kids like the sports so much that they grow into it. I also have days eating too much sugar, you are not alone. Great job no Afterburn and the thought process of counting calories and fasting 2 days out of the week.

Michelle, I think spreading the ashes would make closure of Janet's passing. I'm so sorry for you loss, I know how difficlult it has been for you. Glad to see you enjoying friends. Also glad you took a couple of days off from exercise. Body's need that. Great job on today's Rockout Knockout and Jillian six-pack abs. Don't know if I will sell the tangled art in the shell yet.

Laura, Aw, you are stressed. Hang in here sweetie, it will get better. Take a couple deep breaths. Great job on the run, it's very good for stress. Did you do Stretch Max?

Take care,

Janie

It was so nice out when I got home from work that the kids wanted to rake the few leaves we have so they could jump in them, it was almost funny seeing them jump in such a small pile. I did Afterburn 1-5 intervals and then worked on stuff around the house. Tonight I'm going to do Muscle Max, the whole thing.

Here's a picture of Lucas's cake, it looked better in person and tried my patience!

Here are my kids at the pumpkin patch, this was the best picture of all three of them, it's so hard getting a decent picture.

Michelle - So nice that you got to catch up with friends and relax! I get more done with kids around, they are good motivation I guess :)

Laura - I will miss taking the kids to the pumpkin patch and mazes when they grow out of them. That's so sad your girls don't want to even carve pumpkins :( Mine started talking 2 months ago about a Halloween Party so we're going to throw one, some days I think I'm nuts but I have to do it now before they don't want it anymore.

Janie - Great job on your sweat fest!

Cindy

XTRAIN disc 2, bis and tris this morning--a workout that really moves along. It was my early meeting day so I didn't dare pause the dvd during the workout because I needed to stay on schedule. We'll see how my arms feel tomorrow.

Cindy: the cake looks good. There probably isn't much left. You have a beautiful family. Have fun with Muscle Max!

Laura: a stretch after your run today sounds like a great idea.

Janie: are you in for the October rotation?

Hi to Kathy. Hope you are having a great workout today.

Michelle

Today on the October Rotation is X Train Bi/Tri. Love doing weight lifting. Also walked to the beach and back, it took 20 min. It was really windy and decided to turn back. Didn't want sand in our eyes.

Cindy, Love children's imaginations. How fun to jump in a pile of leaves. Great job on Afterburn 1-5 intervals. Thank you for the photos. The cake is sooooooo cool and the family is adorable.

Michelle, Yep, I'm doing the October Rotation with you. Great job on your X Train Bi/Tri. I'm hoping for a little DOM's in those areas too.

Take care,

Janie

Today was pilates and weight lifting at the Rec. I am still holding on to those two classes until the New Year. At least the Boulder Canyon was finally open again after the floods so the commute isn't as bad.

This evening is busy shuttling the girls from school to Ballet and then a quick dinner on the run and then to violin before coming home to do the ridiculous amounts of homework kids are expected to accomplish in one night. I am about to meet with the teachers about this issue. It is simply to much to have kids in school from 8-3, and then pile on 3-5 hours of homework a night. I mean honestly adults aren't even expected to have that type of workload, not evening adding in the extra-currricula activities....

Ok I am getting from my feedbacks that I am stressed and I just heard on NPR that the ages between mid-40's to mid-fifties ranks as the most stressful and least 'happy' time of life and maybe it is true but most days I am actually feeling pretty positive and happy again for the first time in awhile and I have to say that working out everyday has been so crucial for me! So thanks for letting me whine a bit but don't worry I am happy actually!!

Last night I didn't get started on my workout until 8:50 so I opted for the Slide & Glide Muscle Conditioning since 30 min was about all I could spare. The evenings get away way too quick. Tonight I'm going to do 40/20 Hiit and then I have to pack for a work conference at a hot springs resort that I will be at from Thurs-Fri (it's a tough life!). I'm looking forward to catching up with people and enjoying some wine and soak time. Since I won't get any exercise in on Thurs night I'm aiming to get up and do a quick workout it the morning. I'm not sure if I'll be able to check in - I should be able to on my phone.

Michelle - The cake was gone on Sunday, most of the adults had it for lunch on Sunday and then my kids finished it off, at least it's gone! How are your arms doing today?

Janie - I don't blame you on the sand, that's miserable! Weight training is great, I am trying to incorporate it into my workouts more - seems I forgot about it for awhile!

Laura - It does get overwhelming with activities and homework at night, I feel like some nights my kids are expected to do too much but I can't imagine not having their sports activities. I would talk with the teachers about it. No worries on venting as needed, we all need that and it's fantastic you're happy again. I pulled my pictures from Photobucket and just used the link they have on the bottom right of the page of "links to share this photo". They did wind up a bit smaller than I wanted but oh well! I would love to see a pic of your girls :)
