Getting Our Licks In!

I'm checking in on a weekend! Lucas did well with his shots and is at his normal 99%+ for head circumference, 10% on height (poor kid!), and 60% on weight. He doesn't seem overly chubby and I think it's because he's like my side, built like a tank. We took the kids to the hay bale maze last night and had a good time, it's an easier one but I got a decent walk with Lucas in my backpack. Today I rushed around like a busy bee (laundry, raking, harvesting carrots, finishing my costume, and getting the kids to do some homework projects) and we took a 2 hour break to do the corn maze. Much bigger and harder and I was wishing for a coffee stand in the middle somewhere :) Tomorrow we have soccer and I'll work on the rest of my to-do list. At the top is X10 first thing in the morning, I'm looking forward to it.

Janie - I love the mazes especially when the weather is a perfect fall day, this weekend has been beautiful here and warmer than we've had in awhile. I haven't tried the Hiit yet but I will tomorrow.

Michelle - It was a great day for yard work :) I hope you enjoyed your walk with Ripken. You are awesome getting Christmas shopping tackled so early, I'll have to start focusing on that once November hits.

Cindy

So I am back! Steamboat was fabulous and such a beautiful place! But it did throw me off my exercise routine and I have found it hard to get back into the swing of it again.

I did do some Pilates Reformer on Friday in between my clients.

Yesterday I did Lean Legs and Abs which I really, really liked! Some of the compound legs were a little fast for me and I did slow down that one move where you go to the ground and back up because it felt to fast to me to be good for my low back. I didn't have time to do the barre work but I loved the ab work! This DVD is a big hit in my book and I found myself falling in love with Cathe all over again! She was so cute and feisty and I loved it when she would talk to you through the screen as she really knows that we are out there doing this with her! She is so good at connecting that way which is a very rare skill. A lot of other instructors end up just driving me nuts (Tony Horton)..

Hope all is well with all of you and I hope I am back on track again!

So, I have figured out that my left hip is hurting because I probably have a strained hip flexor muscle. It seems to be better today--still there but not as sore. Today was my rest day (Yeah!); yesterday was Party Rocking Step 1. Better second time around but probably will take about 4 more rounds with that one before I get all the choreography down well. Dreary day here yesterday: rain showers off and on. I went shopping in the afternoon. Our Belk store had its grand reopening after being remodeled. Boy, what a nice store; got some good deals too ;). Did some serious damage to my Talbots charge card too, but it's manageable. No worries on that one. Just very unlike me to buy stuff at Talbots that is not on sale. Ripken is doing well. Snoozing right behind my chair as I type. Looking forward to this next week of the October rotation.

Janie: high fives on getting through cardio leg blast and the x10 workout. I really enjoyed that workout: short, sweet, and sweaty. I'll be taking Jillian Michaels back to work this week; see if my boss wants to start working out again.

Cindy: sounds like you had quite a good time in the corn maze. I have never done one of those (go figure, no kids here) but I bet it is fun. A coffee or hot chocolate stand in the middle of the maze is a great idea. Surprised the maze owner hasn't thought of that. All these height/weight standards for kids can drive you a little nuts, I think. Again, no kids here so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Laura: I must have missed something: what is Steamboat? Is that a place in Colorado? You seem so much happier these days; I certainly hope that you are. I'm loving Cathe's new workouts too. I have lean legs and abs this week on the rotation. Always a little bit of an adventure when you do a new workout, don't you think?

Hope everyone has a great week!
Michelle

Brrr, chilly here this morning. It was a two-rest walk this morning with Ripken. I think he likes getting up early less than I do these days--my poor, old, sweet pup. Did Hardstrikes this morning. I just hope my legs can make it through this third week of the October rotation. Looks like it is going to be a challenge. Hope everyone has a great Monday.
Michelle

Starting my Sunday off with X10 Fat Burning was awesome, I really loved the workout since weights were mixed in with the cardio. I also crossed a lot off my to-do list yesterday so I shouldn't be too over worked in the evenings this week. Brodie scored a goal at soccer and I got in on video so that was awesome, it was a great boost to a beautiful day. I haven't thought about what I want to do for exercise tonight, I think I'll do some MMA because it's been a long time since I've done any of those workouts.

Laura - I hate when getting back on track isn't as easy as I want. Glad you enjoyed Steamboat Springs. I think a coffee stand in the middle would have really helped me along :)

Michelle - The height weight charts for kids are a lot like the BMI charts for adults and at Lily and Brodie's checkups they actually pull out the BMI charts for them. Of course they don't take body shape into consideration and even though Lily has been on the same track from the beginning for height/weight they said we'll have to watch her BMI. She's not scrawny like some kids (Brodie has knobby knees he's so scrawny) because she's very muscular like my side. Oh well, I know she's active and eats well! How fun on the shopping and I hope your hip heals quickly. Hard not to stress that area and give it a proper rest.

Hey There!

Busy weekend. Saturday was Kelly Coffey-Myers' Your Best Body workout #1. Had my hair done. I have it colored red but this time I wanted a long bob. Came out pretty good. Saturday night my DH played in his band at our friend, Keith's house. They now have a female singer. It was Keith's birthday. Sunday was Cathe's Greatest Hits Step. I made it all the way through up to the Drill Max section. I was exhausted after all that. Then it was onto some cooking & cleaning & laundry. I like to cook my snacks that are easily transportable. Made some egg/veggie/cheese muffins & my homemade protein bars. Tonight will be Great Glutes the no stability ball premix again. Love that one!

Cindy: I'm trying to envision you as a paper doll. LOL How did you manage to come up w/that? I've never heard of anyone going as a paper doll before. And the scientist lab. Sounds like everyone will have great fun at your house. I remember taking my DS through a corn maze. It was great. We loved it. We happen to have in Manhattan a Haunted House. I'm very scared to venture into it as I heard the people come out & grab you! I'd most likely have nightmares. Good job on Brodie scoring at soccer. Finally he got to play a game.

Michelle: I'm sorry to hear about your hip. Take it easy & see if stretching helps. It must be feeling better though if you got through HS. Its great that your doing the Xmas shopping early. Smart to beat all the crowds. We have Macy's opening up on Thanksgiving Day at 8 pm for the start of Black Friday. I can just imagine how many people will bust into Macy's. Not pretty. I'm definitely avoiding that. Give Ripken a hug from me.

Janie Sis: Nice job on your workouts & all the beach walks. Our weather is starting to get very cold by the end of this week. My pt session went very well Thursday night. She stimulated my shoulder & the side of my arm instead of concentrating on the elbow. What a difference that made. Hopefully she'll do the same this week.

Laura: Sounds like you had fun in Steamboat Springs. You sound like the stress you had before is behind you now & your relaxing more. You'll catch up w/your workouts in no time.

Have a good day everyone!
Kathy

This weekend I strained the left side of my left foot. I was at "Wash Away Beach" and climbing up onto the erosion and put my foot down the wrong way in order to balance myself to get on stable ground. This weekend was not good for exercising. I can really only do the upper body until my foot heals. Amazing how much you need your feet. What else can I injure, right? Damn. I know I have weak feet, so once it heals I better darn make sure they get strong by exercising them as I would all little muscles, also I need to put in balance exercises as well, so I can do my long term exercises properly. DARN! TEARS! I will do what I can without re-injuring my foot. Shaking head back and forth. Hopefully it won't take long. At this age it seems I always have to be soooooo darn careful at anything I do when before I didn't have to care at all. It's frustrating being old. Better get out of the mode of feeling sorry for myself. It doesn't do a bit of good.

Cindy, So glad Lucas did well on his shots and his body measurements. Sounds like a wonderful time at the bale maze. Great job for getting in a decent walk with Lucas in your backpack. (I can envision this) It seems you have been very busy and glad you were able to take a break and dot the corn maze.

Laura, Sounds like you are on track. Do you have pictures of Steamboat for us to see how beautiful it is? Hope you get your motivation back soon. Try not to take too long. Great job on some Pilates Reformer on Friday in between clients. Good for you. Aw, great job on yesterday's Lean Legs and Abs. I'll hopefully be doing Lean Legs and Abs on Wed. I can't wait! Yep, I love our Cathe girl for all the same reasons.

Michelle, Glad to hear your left hip flexor muscle is better. Hope you enjoyed your rest day. Who wouldn't right? LOL And for yesterday's Party Rocking Step 1. Sounds like a lot of fun doing ShopMax. It's all good.;)

Michelle, I feel the morning chill here too. Great job on the walk with Ripken. Also HS this morning. I tried, but my foot really was hurting minutes into the exercise.

Cindy, Great job on Sunday's X10 Fat Burning. And crossing off some of the to do list. Yea! For Bordie scoring a goal at soccer and taping it.

Kathy Sis, Great job on Saturday's Kelly "Your Best Body workout #1". OOOO nice to get the hair done. Wow a female singer in the band. Tell Keith "Happy Birthday". Also for doing Greatest Hits Step right up to the DrillMax section. Wow, I would be exhausted too. Sounds like your snacks are perfect. Glad to hear the P
PT sessions are doing well. Hope you continue on that success.

Take care ladies,

Janie

I had a good day yesterday and got in 35 min of MMA Fusion, I was able to do moves I've struggled with in the past (woo!) and was initially planning to do the entire workout but only had time for 35 min. I'm focusing on staying on top of things around the house this week and will start to work on rearranging/cleaning the basement for our lab. Tonight I think I'm going to do Afterburn or Athletic Training and then I'll spend some time in the basement. This could be a good time to add to my garage sale pile.

Janie - I'm so sorry about your foot, I feel your frustration on not being able to do exercise or even walk right now :( As hard as it is give it the break it needs and you'll be back to it soon.

Kathy - I'll post a pic of myself as a paper doll, I realized my kids don't really know what one is so Santa may have to get Lily some paper dolls this year. A haunted maze would scare me to death, I'd have to wear a pad to keep myself from peeing my pants!

Cindy

Nice walk with my sweet pup this morning. Just when I think he isn't going to be able to make our long walk anymore, he surprises. I overindulge the pup, I know. My DH worries that Rippy is going to collapse and not be able to make it back home. I don't think we are there yet although I should remember to grab my cell phone when we walk, just in case. Did supercuts this morning. Tomorrow is lean legs and abs and one X10 premix. Might try to preview that lean legs and abs tonight and we'll see how my time goes for the X10 add-on.

Janie: bummer on the foot. What type of shoe do you wear on the beach? Yup--it's hard to do much with a hurt foot. I hope it gets better soon.

Cinday: Great job on MMA Fusion--that one has some tricky moves. Some kids are just scrawny when they are little. Hopefully your little guy will grow out of it. I'm trying to doing some fall cleanout as well--closets, drawers, etc. Seems like stuff accumulates when I'm not looking.

Kathy: happy birthday to your DH. Are you naturally inclined to reddish hair or is your hair naturally some other color. I've toyed with getting my colored with an auburn hue but just don't have the nerve to do something like that. Now my younger sister, she's been known to do a pink or purple streak in her hair. Not me, I stick to my natural brown.

Hi to Laura and Shadowpup if she is lurking.

I can tell my foot is getting better. Hoping a week without lower body exercises will do it. Whew! I was getting discouraged there for awhile. Was soupy foggy today.

Cindy, Great job on 35 min. of MMA Fusion. Sounds like you will be very busy getting ready for your lab.

Michelle, Great job on the walk with Ripken. You are giving him my hugs and pets aren't you? And good job on the Supercuts this morning.

Take care everyone,

Janie

We had beautiful weather yesterday, I soaked up as much Vitamin D as I could :) My kids were all tired and had rough evenings so by the time they were all settled and I was ready to workout it was 8:45 so I opted for the Express Athletic Training. I then spent 50 min in the basement cleaning and organizing. Tonight I'll do Afterburn single intervals 1-10 and then work on the layout downstairs. I at least am feeling on top of things :)

Michelle - Well carrying your pup home would be a great workout :) A cell phone never hurts for any just in case issues. It's scary how things pile up but such a great job to get rid of stuff.

Janie - I'm glad your foot is feeling better, what are you doing for upper body workouts?

It was my birthday yesterday so no workout. My DH & DS surprised me with pink roses, champagne, cake, a gift card to my favorite clothing store + a bottle of perfume. What a great night! Plus DH is taking me out for eats & drinks Saturday night. Whee! Needless to say no workout. Monday I did Great Glutes no stability ball premix. Love this one! Tonight I'll be doing a long premix from KCM's Trim Down.

Janie Sis: I'm glad to hear your foot's feeling better. I know what you mean by always getting sidelined w/injuries. My body has never ached so much. It stinks getting old. I know we're supposed to get more recovery but I don't seem to know what that means. What will you do for your upper body? My arm's feeling better & better all the time. I hope to be back at it by Xmas. I better b/c P90X3 is coming soon!

Michelle: I'm sure Ripken enjoys his walks. That would be some workout if you wind up by having to carry him home. How old is Ripken? I love Supercuts. Actually it was my DH's friend's birthday on Saturday. My natural color hair is brown but now its mostly all gray on the top. My hair stylist found the exact red that suits me. I get quite a bit of compliments on it. A purple or pink streak isn't my thing either.

Cindy: It sounds as if you have everything under control for the party. The kids are going to have so much fun. Great job on MMA Fusion. The only MMA one I like is the boxing one. Kudos to you for doing Fusion. That one's HARD. I've done Afterburn Intervals 1-10. That one's tough but good.

Waves to Laura!

Have a good day everyone!
Kathy

Raining here this morning, so it was a short walk with my sweet pup. We did a little better tonight. Did Lean Legs and Abs this morning, didnot have time to do the X10 add-on. My left leg is not as bothersome today with regard to soreness--I'm taking that as a good sign.

Kathy: Happy Birthday to you--one day late! I hope you had a terrific day. It sounds like you did. I'll be trying Great Glutes for the first time on Friday--your reviews having me looking forward to it.

Cindy: you sure do have lots of energy. How in the heck do you manage to work outside the home, be a mom, and then go into overdrive that late in the evening? Wish I had your energy, I'm usually in my jammies and in bed by 9:30 at the latest.

Janie: Hooray for your foot getting better. Maybe it is not as bad as you originally thought. Are you modifying the workouts in the October rotation or opting to do different ones until your foot is 100 percent? Just wondering.

Hope everyone has a great evening and sleeps well.
Michelle

Tonight I did floor work and ad-libbed leg exercises. All the exercises I could think of working all parts of the legs but on the floor. Don't recall the names of the exercises, but man O man it worked! Also added on Lean Legs "Abs" to this workout.

Cindy
, Great job for the Express Athletic Training. And CleanMax. Hopefully you have wonderful weather tomorrow as you did today. I ad-libbed my upper body workouts from routines I remember. Certain I got all the major muscle groups for upper body.

KathySis, Oh No! I missed your birthday! Sisters should know these things. Looks like your honey made it a very happy day for you. Great job on Monday's Great Glutes no stability ball premix. Thinking ab-libbing upper body workout tomorrow. We'll see. Hoping you will be back at it from your tennis elbow by Christmas as well. Let's hope. Christmas is my time too, to work harder.

Michelle, Great job for a short walk this morning in the rain with Ripken. And another walk tonight. Also on Lean Legs and Abs. I'm modifying and ab-libbing my workouts and doing them as much as I can from the rotation. Reviewing all the exercises and doing what I can, certainly making sure I cover the muscle group intended. Thank you for wondering about me. You are such a good friend to me. (hugs)

Take care ladies,

Janie

Last night was Trim Down workout #1 mixed + Michelle Dozois's Cardio Interval Burn Combo #1. My left foot was bothering me while doing the cardio. I think I need new sneakers. Tonight's my pt session so no workout. I'll be off from work tomorrow. Have a doctor's appt. I hope to be able to do a premix from ROKO.

Janie sis: No worries on forgetting my birthday. Sometimes I ad-lib my upper body workouts too. We have so much knowledge from doing Cathe & other instructors that we really don't need to follow along with the dvd. Glad your foot's feeling better.

Cindy: I don't think I could today at my age do a workout at 8:45 p.m. Those days are long gone for me. Sometimes I don't even feel like working out for an hour. Your one amazing woman w/all you accomplish in a day. Takes me back when I had days just like yours.

Michelle: Thx for the birthday wishes. Glad your hip is feeling better. Did you like Lean Legs & Abs? Great Glutes is much better imo. I'm right behind you on the sleep. I hit the sack at 10. However, last night I just had to watch American Horror Story: Coven. Didn't get to sleep until 11. Give Ripken a hug for me.

Have a good day everyone!
Kathy

I had another late start to my exercise so I shifted to the X10 HiLo workout - ouch! I also got in 2 loads of laundry, recycling, and cleaned up a bit in the garage so it was a productive night. Tonight will be off for CleanMax :) I plan to get the entire house clean. It's also our last night of soccer practice - these 2 months flew by! We had a couple more RSVP's last night so we're getting a good head count, with us included I think we're at 20/21 total.

Kathy - Happy Belated Birthday! Glad you had a great time celebrating. The one benefit to exercising at night (and 8:45 is pretty late and pushing it for me) is it gives me an extra energy boost before bed to wrap up a few things around the house.

Michelle - I think the kids motivate me to get things done because it's that constant - if I don't do it now I won't have time later when they're up/around :) Glad you got a quick walk in even with the rain.

Janie - Kudos to you for making what you know work rather than just giving up and not doing anything.

Cindy

No exercise yesterday but Clean Max had me get everything but some vacuuming done last night. Tonight I'll do a short 30 min workout then put together the Mad Scientist Lab. Tomorrow I have some leaves to rake, plan to do a short workout in the morning after I pick up my fruit/veggie basket, and then I'll focus on food prep. We are expecting 22-24 people right now, why do I worry no one will come?!?! It's our last weekend for soccer and I plan to carve pumpkins with the kids when we're home from soccer, should be a great weekend all in all and from the sounds of it our last warm one.

Have a great weekend!

Cindy

I love Flex Train, and was sorry I couldn't do it Thursday. But I ad-libbed again for a nice total body workout, some of my ad-libbing I felt had compound exercises in it. Not like Cathe of course, but did a full body toning/strength/high rep workout, without all the moving around. My foot (I hope) should be better enough to start exercising normally on Mon.

I'll post again tonight and tell you what I did for Great Glutes minus the X10 segment. I may be able to do that one, we'll see.

Kathy Sis, Great job on last nights Trim Down workout #1 mixed and Michelle's Cardio Interval Burn Combo #1. How did the PT session go? Not to pry, (well, maybe I am. LOL) but are you OK if you have to go to the doctors?

Cindy, Great job on X10 HiLo workout. Good for you! Also for the Marathon CleanMax. Last night of soccer practice? Yep, Time does fly by.

Cindy, You are one busy lady. You just keep going and going and going. Everyone will be there, don't worry. And I predict a fun and fabulous time.

Take care always,

Janie

Yesterday was Flex Train and then meetings at Quantico, then home to finish work for the rest of the day. Today I have the day off:p. Ripken and I had a wonderful walk this morning, then after feeding him and me breakfast, I raked leaves. Round 1 of that chore in the books. It is supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow, so I will work on weeding my garden and cutting back plants for the season. Today was Great Glutes and X10 Step. Doing a cardio workout after Great Glutes was truly a challenge, but I got it done.

Janie: were you able to do Great Glutes today? Depending on how your foot is feeling, that one might have been doable--yes or no?

Kathy: nothing like your feet cranking at you to make you realize that you need new sneaks. Hope you enjoyed your day off today. I sure have enjoyed mine. I have alot of leave to use before the end of the year, so it's 4 day weeks, the whole week of Thanksgiving off, and a week and a half off for me at Christmas. And here comes my sweet pup, huffing and puffing to let me know he is up from his day of napping--so it will be walkabout time soon.

Cindy: you have a busy weekend in store, for sure. 22-24 people is a housefull. I hope everything goes as planned and that you have fun.
Here in Virginia, the weather can warm up just when you think cooler temps are setting in for good. I'm hoping for another mild winter, but only time will tell. Right now we are having typical fall weather. Hope everyone is enjoying the fall season.
