Getting Our Licks In!

Hi ya'll

I got knocked down with a cruddy cold! I did my classes on Tuesday but didn't exercise again until today when I did XTrain Burn sets Bi's and Tri's plus core #1. It was the perfect workout because it so no-nonsense and to the point and short and yet you get a crazy burn. My arms are tired to type! I was thinking of doing a little cardio but I think that would be pushing it....maybe an evening walk if I am feeling up for it...

I stalked ya'll earlier in the week but didn't post cause I had no exercise to report! Hee Hee

Update: Was able to do Great Glutes, also rode my bike around the neighborhood for an hour.

Michelle, Great job on Flex Train and your rest day. Also for the walk you and Ripken had this morning. And garden Max. And of course Great Glutes. It truly is challenging and loved every minute of it. Kinda sorta reminds me of The Firm instructors before Cathe.

Laura, Oh NO! So sorry about the awful cold. Great job on the classes and today's XTrain Burn sets bi's and tri's and core #1.

Take care,

Janie

Party rocking step 1 today. I'm starting to love this step workout. A couple more times with this one and I think I will have the choreography down. Looking forward to my rest day tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
Ripken says: get your licks in!

Sunday Joey and I rode our bikes around the cranberry bogs for 2 hours. We even tried to out ride one another for part of that time. Glorious outside, an amazing person to enjoy and my foot is so much better. It couldn't get better than this! Will check back later and post today's workout. I have to say, just love the way we support each other. It truly makes a difference to me. Thank you so much!

Today is another beautiful day, we have to get in it somehow and enjoy these days as best we can. Wednesday we will be leaving for Shelton to stay our other six months. What's left of Fall, Winter and part of Spring in the beautiful woods over looking the Olympic Mountains. Can't believe how fast our time near the ocean flew by.

Michelle, Great job on Party rocking Step 1. Can't wait to get in there again and enjoy all the new workouts. Hope you enjoy Sunday's rest day. Please give our Ripken a hug and pet. Looking forward to doing Cross Fire today. YaHOO!

Laura, Are you doing better with that awful cold?

Kathy Sis and Cindy, Waving out to you both.

Take care all,

Janie

Friday was just a ob/gyn appointment. Janie nothing to worry about. I'm doing fine.

Saturday I did Xtrain (chest/back/shoulders). I was thrilled b/c I managed to do all of the pushups on my toes in the warmup & even was able to do 24 pushups on my toes. The other 2 sets were on my knees. I also tried a 12 & 15# db for my one-arm rows. No pain! My pt session on Thursday had me doing bicep curls & hammer curls w/my arm on a pillow. Again no pain. I still can't do any lateral or front raises though. I'll take what I can get at this point. She also stimulates my shoulder which is working wonders.

Sunday I did Rockout Knockout Timesaver #1. This was cardio kickbox + gloves kickbox. I liked it much better this time around. Tonight will be Xtrain Legs Timesaver #6 which is barre/ball & chair/floor. If I have time, I'll do abs too.

Cindy: How did the Halloween party turn out? I bet it was a lot of fun for everyone. Can't believe how much you did beforehand to get everything ready. You must've collapsed afterward!

Michelle: I haven't even tried Party Rockin Step #1 yet. Still have to get through #2. You have quite a bit of time off. I only have 3 more days which I'll take Xmas week.

Janie Sis: Your foot must be better if you were able to do Great Glutes + a bike ride.

Laura: Sorry to hear that you've been down with a cold. Your definitely feeling better if you were able to do Burn Sets + Core #1.

Have a great day everyone!
Kathy

I survived the weekend! The party was a lot of fun. We had 16 kids total and they were all really good. Half the parents stayed and I was busy with games and the mad scientist lab so by the time most everyone left at 8:30 I finally got some food and sat to enjoy a glass of wine. My kids were really happy and it was worth all the time I put into it :) The only thing I wish was different was that I had gotten pictures, I didn't have time and Dave didn't cover me.

Sunday we had our last soccer game then headed to Big Sky to visit with my aunt and cousin since they are vacationing in the area for a week. By the time we were home last night it was late and I didn't have any time to exercise. Tonight we're going to carve pumpkins and I'll be working on laundry. Once the kids are in bed I'll get in a Hiit workout and it will feel great!

Here's a picture of Lucas we had taken last week, it's a good 1 year pic :) I could just gobble him up! His outfit is about 35 years old, it was given to us by his namesakes mom - his middle name came from Dave's best friend growing up whom we lost about 4 years ago to a massive heart attack (he was in great shape and out running when it happened - very hard to deal with). I am excited to get pics so we can send them to Mark's parents.

Kathy - That's so great you didn't have any pain, what a wonderful feeling! I felt like collapsing last night, the energy from the kids on Sat kept me going through the party at least.

Janie - So happy your foot is feeling better! It is amazing how fast time flies by, you at least got a lot of beach walking in so you made the best of it.

Michelle - The big storm they've been talking about hasn't hit our area, it is cold and windy today but good news has it back in the 40's for trick or treating. I hope to have a couple more warm leaf raking days ahead :)

Laura - So sorry you're sick, I hope you can get some extra vitamin C and feel 100% soon.

From all the biking I did yesterday my foot was sore today. Decided since Cross Fire is a huge and wonderful cardio that I will just flip days and take today as a rest day. Hopefully it will be enough to ward off the soreness for tomorrows workout. Let's hope, haven't given up yet.

Kathy Sis, Great job on Saturday's XTrain, chest back and shoulders. Wow, what an accomplishment to be able to do 24 pushups on your toes the rest on the knees. Good for you! Sounds like you are healing faster than expected. So nice to hear that. Also great job on Sundays Rockout Knockout Timesaver 1. Enjoy tonight's workout.

Cindy, OMG! Lucas is so adorable! What a cutie pie! I loved the story behind his name. So precious. I knew this party would be a success, but so sorry you didn't get photos. Next time. Sounds like such a busy weekend and sometimes it's OK to not have time for workouts. Enjoy your HiiT workout tonight.

Take care,

Janie

Last night I did Xtrain Legs premix #6. This was barre/ball & chair/floor. Didn't do abs. Tonight's Greatest Hits Timesaver #2.

Cindy: I missed the picture of Lucas!!! You must've only had it up for a short time. I loved the story behind Lucas's name. Sixteen kids is a lot! Did all the kids bob for apples in a bucket of water? When my DS went to a party that was one of the games they played. I knew you'd collapse afterwards. The parents that stayed must have loved every minute of it. That was a lot of work you did. Enjoy your Hiit workout tonight.

Janie Sis: You overdid it with all the bike riding. I'm sorry that the foot is better yet. Rest up & I'm sure you'll be able to do Cross Fire tomorrow. If not, just opt for something more low impact.

Take care,
Kathy

We are back into springlike weather here in Virginia. We like that.:p Yesterday I didnot get a chance to post, so workout for Monday was Crossfire and this morning was Rockout Knockout. Unfortunately I only had time for the 37 minute premix, but that is the way it goes sometimes. Tomorrow is supposed to be X10 in its entirety--we'll see how that goes. The short X10 workouts are pretty intense, I'm not sure how I will make it through all of them in one workout.

Janie: Bike riding is such great exercise. My DH and I have bikes; wonder if I could entice him to ride a little every day. Yes, it is that time of year for you to go back home. Normally, we would be putting the boat up but since we didn't use it this year, the mechanic will just winterize everything and then the Marina will pull it and put it in the yard for winter. On the bright side, I'm way ahead with my "home" end-of-year/get ready for the holidays activities in terms of getting the outside ready for Christmas decorations.

Cindy: the party sounds wonderful. Sadly, I could not see the picture that you posted of Lucas. It would be great if you could try again. It is great to see pictures of everyone and their families.

Kathy: One year since Sandy--I hope that things are back to normal where you live. I know in many places, things are not back to normal. My sister did part of Greatest Hits last night; she got as far as the intervals from IMAX2 and stopped there. She liked it. You really are getting your strength back in your arm--pretty exciting, yes?

Laura: sorry to hear that you have been down with a cold. Is there ever a good time to have a cold? I think not.

Hope everyone is having a super day.

I'm trying the picture again, it still shows up on my post that I see but I'm not sure why it isn't letting you guys see it.

Let me know if you can see it this time :)

I was exhausted last night and opted for sleep instead of exercise, not sure it helped since I'm dragging today. Lucas has been waking the past 3 nights so that's not helping me at all. Darned teeth! Tonight I plan to do either Hiit or X10 - we'll see what I'm in the mood for.

Janie - I hope the day off helps your foot. Don't push it too hard.

Kathy - We didn't bob for apples but I considered it. I hit witch cauldrons in the back yard for them to find, the Mad Scientist Lab with things for them to touch and play with, halloween masks to decorate, and a halloween bingo game. Sounds like a great workout yesterday!

Michelle - X10 all the way through scares me too! Can't wait to hear how you do. We are supposed to have warmer weather starting tomorrow, 40's may be the max we get from here on out. We didn't get any of the snow the rest of Montana and Wyoming got, it's silly.

Last night was Greatest Hits Timesaver #1. This one had warmup & all 4 combos from SJ&P, combo #2 from BM2 + combo #4 from Drill Max + IMAX2 Intervals 9 & 10. I don't know why from the start of the warmup my left hip started hurting me. It never let up all throughout the workout. I just couldn't take the pain anymore & got up to the 9th Interval of IMAX2. Just couldn't do #10. I think the leg was hurting me from the barre workout I did the night before. I'll have to check my calendar to see what type of cardio I dshould o after a barre workout. I do not want this to happen again. Had to take an Advil too. Now my triceps are hurting me today.

Tonight's supposed to be Xtrain's Bis/Tris. Wish me luck!

Cindy: I still can't see any pictures. Bummer. I don't blame you one bit for taking a rest day. The games you had at the party sound such fun. I know my DS would've loved the mad scientist lab. Did you manage to do a workout last night?

Michelle: My town of Oceanside is doing fine one year later. Some homes, however, still have the dumpster out front & signs up For Sale. That's too bad that you didn't get to use your boat this season. Do you & DH like to fish? Where do you cruise to? I don't think I could muster up enough energy to do X10 all the way through nor do I even want to try. LOL I'm sure you'll make it through though. Your my warrior. Our weather has been cool & crisp. Its supposed to be 60 by 4 pm but I doubt it will feel like it.

Janie Sis: How's the foot today? I hope its better.

Waves to Laura!

Have a good day everyone.
Kathy

Happy day before Halloween. Ripken and I had a nice walk this morning, then I tackled X10, premix X49, which includes step, low impact, and the cardio blast. OMG--not an easy workout. I barely made it through the cardio blasts--this is a major butt kicking workout. It's hitting cardio endurance from all angles that is for sure.

Kathy: I was berating one of my colleagues this morning for forgetting how awful the impact of Sandy was on the Jersey shore and lower New York. I remember how terrible it was because it got cold after the hurricane, so on top of everything else, people were without heat. I'm thankful that you are okay. WRT the boat--my DH and I don't fish. I told him that if he wanted to fish that was fine, but he would be responsible for cleaning the boat (to my standards). That qualification pretty much took care of the fishing idea. In reality, my DH and are probably nearing the end of our boating hobby. We've cruised all over the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries for years, but we've reached the point where it is time to think about moving on to a land-based approach to enjoying the water. It's pretty warm here in Virginia, by the way. Looks like I'll be able to wash down my front porch on Friday as well as wash my car again. Good stuff.

Cindy: sometimes it's just better to rest, especially when you are worn out. And IMHO, the HIIT workouts are comparatively easier than X10. X10 is like HIIT on steroids, particularly when you do more than one. And alas, I also cannot view the picture that you posted the second time.

Hi to Janie and Laura.

Michelle

Into the last 3 days of the October rotation, but I'm switching the order a little to give my legs a rest: today I did XTRAIN chest, back, and shoulders--depending on how I feel tomorrow I'll either do party rocking step 2 (which was supposed to be today) or XTRAIN bis and tris. I'm probably going to skip on the cardio leg blast because I'm feeling like I really need to give my legs a break so this strained muscle can completely rest and heal. But you know I reserve the right to change my mind.

So, this morning Ripken had a little stumble during our walk and he bruised his chin. As I was looking at how bad the scrap was (not that bad but it did bleed), I noticed he has a gorwith right at the tip of his mouth above his chin. I'm thinking this will have to be looked at by the vet--could become an issue with his eating. My poor old pup.

Janie: welcome back home to Shelton. I know you are busy getting resettled in your inland abode. Hope you have candy for the trick-or-treaters--do you get any of those where you live?

Cindy: I imagine this will be a busy day for you with your children. Probably for Laura as well. Hope you all have a happy Halloween and good weather for trick or treating.

Kathy: How are you doing? Is your leg feeling better? I'm thinking that you probably get lots of trick-or-treaters on Halloween. Yes or no?

I've got to get ready to head over to Quantico in a bit for a meeting at 1. Working at home today otherwise so I can help my DH hold down the fort tonight with trick-or-treaters. Warm here today (in the 70s) and although we are expecting rain, it isn't supposed to come until late this evening so the kids should have a good night.

Last night was a much better workout than the night before. I did Xtrain bis/tris the Timesaver 1-5 + Core #1. I was able to use a 5# db in my left arm & had no pain. It feels great to do something w/this arm. Today the elbow is hurting me a tad. Unfortunately no pt session tonight. Had to email in the medical form for the insurance company. They need the script from the doctor in order for me to continue. I'll have to just do my stretches. My body needs the STS Extrended Stretch tonight.

Michelle: Yesterday they posted on the news online before/after pictures of Sandy. Its hard to believe how Manhattan has come back especially some subway stations. I remember the cold the most with having no heat & my kitchen was in the midst of being renovated. My neighbors were getting their generators maintenanced in anticipation of another storm. God forbid. I'll have to preview X10's X49. I can't believe you did the entire workout & didn't collapse. You & DH are thinking of selling the boat? Send it my way. My DH loves to fish.

Janie Sis: Happy unpacking!

Waves to Cindy & Laura!
Kathy

Michelle, Great job on XTrain chest, back and shoulders. I think a leg break is a good idea. Oh, poor Ripken. Hope everything will be OK with the sweet guy. We are so remote there would be no trick or treaters. And at the ocean most people have gone home. There are no little kids around. Enjoy the 70 degree weather you have.

Kathy Sis, Great job on XTrain bis/tris timesaver 1-5 and core 1. Yea for you using the 5# dumbell with no pain. Yes, I had good days and bad days with my tennis elbow too.

Take care,

Janie

Can't believe its November already. I decided to just rest my poor achey body last night. Didn't have a good turnout of trick-or-treaters. Maybe they didn't like my candy. The weather was misty & foggy. Perfect weather for Halloween but not so much for the kiddies. Tonight will be another rest day as my arm's hurting me. I must have slept wrong b/c I have a stiff neck + shoulder is bothering me too. Instead of working out I watched American Horror Story: Coven. That was the perfect show to watch w/all the crazy witches & their black magic.

I'll pick things back up again tomorrow w/Xtrain chest/back/shoulders. I can't do any exercises yet using the resistance band.

Michelle: Poor Ripken! Give him a big hug for me. Praying that growth is nothing serious. Its good that you decided to switch the rotation around to give your legs a break. After doing the entire X10 I don't blame you for giving your legs a break.

Janie Sis: I can't believe your foot is still hurting you. Do you think you overdid it with all the packing/unpacking? Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Cindy & Laura: I hope the kids enjoyed their Halloween. Checkin when you can. We know your very busy ladies.

Take care,
Kathy

Today I rested a lot. Made Paleo bread and had turkey burger tonight. Spinach on the side and tried a new recipe drink with pumpkin in it. Yuck. Won't do that one again. LOL

Kathy Sis, Good job on the resting. Such an important part for our well being. Glad to see you resting your arm and watching horror movies. OOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo! I do believe I over did it, but moving and putting things away had no choice but to do it. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery too. Let's hope.

Take care,

Janie

Ok I am back after a long cold that kept dragging on...

I am still not 100% but enough was enough I decided today and I did a Premix Timesaver from Xtrain's Hardstrikes which was so much fun that I really got into it! It felt good to move again… Hopefully I can work out tomorrow! I might just do some Upper Body.

BTW my Biceps were so sore from the Burn Sets from my last workout for days!!! That is a short but very effective workout indeed

Hope everyone is doing well!
