Getting Our Licks In!

10-9-13

I'm back ladies!

So much work not enough hours in the day to accomplish everything. Michelle suggested that I try a premix from ROKO & I will next time. Cathe has a scrambled premix. I might even like this one. Monday was Legs & Abs. This one is deceptively easy & short (at least for a Cathe leg workout). The next day, however, whoa did I feel it. I had a very hard time going up staircases to get to my subway platform. LOL What I must've looked like. Tuesday I was exhausted from work but did Party Rockin Step #2 the 1st Timesaver which has the warmup, step combos #1, 4, 5 & 6. did much better this time but I think I'm still making a full reverse turn much harder than it actually is. I have a tendency to do this. Tonight will be Kelly Coffey-Meyer's Trim Down workout #1.

Michelle: Welcome back from your trip. Sounds like you & DH had fun meeting up w/friends that you haven't seen in a long time. You & Janie are making me want to do the Oct. rotation. I'll try it some day.

Cindy: I missed the picture of the cake & your daughters. Wah! I'm sure the cake was delish. I'm not surprised it went quickly. I cannot believe you worked out at 8:50. If I did that I would be too wired to get any sleep. I must get to sleep by 10 & be up at 5:30. Great job on the Slide & Glide. Safe travels on your journey. We'll miss you.

Laura: I do live in NY but my town is approximately 30 miles east from the Big Apple. I live in a nautical town Oceanside. You think you have problems posting pictures. I don't even know how to post the expression icons. LOL I'm pathetic. I love pilates. I took classes that I purchased from Living Social. The pilates class was using the reformer machine. What a workout that is. I remember being busy, busy, busy w/my DS w/school & all of his activities. Just wait until the girls get to the 11th grade. That's the worst ever for them. Stating the times of your girl's classes sounds the same as my DS. Would you believe he had to have lunch at 10:00 AM!! The high school in Oceanside has 2,000 students. And yes the homework is crazy. I don't understand 5 hrs. of homework. That's excessive. You don't sound stressed anymore to me.

Janie Sis: I bet your glad to get back to weight lifting & that's a great one Xtrain bis/tris. That wasn't pleasant at the beach w/all that sand. What's on the rotation for today?

Must get back to work.

Have a great day ladies,
Kathy

Hi!

Today I did the Last workout of Meso Cycle 1..Legs! I almost dropped it but I knew I would feel like I didn't finish it and it would bother me...almost like if I didn't do that last STS Meso Cycle 1 workout all the other ones wouldn't count or something! Anyone else like that or is it just my quirk? I also did two runs today!:p One right before I picked up the girls, I had about 40 minuets after my last Pilates client and having to get the girls so I did my coach to 5 k program around a pretty little lake up against the Boulder foothills, it was a gorgeous fall day here in Colorado. But when I got my girls they told me they needed to do a 2mile run for their Cross- Country homework and they wanted me to go with them and I did! I ran the whole way which felt really good. I knew I was taking it uber easy with the coach to 5 k program but I also knew I needed to ease into it.

Kathy: I just read a thread about Lean Legs and Abs right before reading your post. I haven't tried it but I like the idea of a lighter leg day to choose from! SOmetimes those deceptively easier workouts do get you on the backside! I love pilates and I have been teaching it now for 10 years! I need to get back on the reformer myself

Cindy: I don't think I have heard of the slide & glide workout before is Cathe? Wonder how I missed it....work meeting at a hot springs...how nice is that!? If I can get my X to take the kids this weekend I might head up to Strawberry Park in Steam Boat Springs to get a little R&R and soaking in myself!

It was good enough weather for Joey and I to take a 35 min. + bike ride. Tonight I did XTrain Cardio Leg Blast prem. 3, 1-6 rounds. A sweaty mess and beet red, just the way I like it. LOL

Laura, I'm so glad you are happy and not as stressed out as I thought you were. Please don't let that make you quit talking/wining to us when you need to. ;) I find exercising helps with stress too. Great job on yesterday's Pilates and weight lifting and still doing the two classes. I don't know how mothers do it anymore. There is no way I could ever stay at the pace you ladies are going. I did use to do that. Wow! I hope you give the teachers a piece of my mind as well. I totally agree, that is way tooooooooo much homework. I use "picturetrail" and get the code for it to use in forums. Been using it for years and has larger photos than others. Would love to see your Teen girls.

Cindy, Great job on the Slide & Glide Muscle Conditioning. OOOO the hot springs resort sound wonderful. HAVE FUN! Hope to hear from ya.

Kathy sis, Welcome back! Great job on Mondays Legs & Abs. I have to agree on this workout, the after effects are DOM's. LOL Very proud of you doing Party Rockin Step #2 on Tuesday even though you were exhausted. Good for you!

Laura, Congrats on doing and finishing the last workout of Meso Cycle 1 legs. I like to finish most of the time what I started too. Sometimes though, there are distractions. Also good for you on the two runs today's, coach 5 k program (sounds so beautiful with a lake), and the 2 mile run with your girls.
Take care ladies,

Janie

Hi Ladies!

Last night I did KCM's Trim Down workout #1. I loved it. Its all lower body exercises & I was surprised to see Kelly having us do pistol squats with light weights. This workout alternates a lower body exercise with upper body boxing moves. The music was old songs from Cathe's really early workouts. Can't wait to try workout #2. Tonight's my PT session. The weather's terrible here in NY. My arm, lower back & legs are killing me. It must've been all those pistol squats.

Janie Sis: Glad you were able to get outside w/your walk & ride. Plus doing Cardio Leg Blast too. I love that one. You & I used to run around like crazy with all the activites that the kids were involved in. But we were much younger then too.

Cindy: Enjoy your meeting in hot springs.

Laura: I didn't know that you're a pilates instructor. I do like to finish a rotation too just like you. You're not alone. Did you speak to the girl's teacher re their homework? What was the outcome? You worked out a lot!!! Pilates, weight lifting + 2 runs!! Are you competing w/Michelle who I happen to call Warrior?

I'll be home tomorrow as well as Tuesday. Office is closed on Columbus Day. I'm looking forward to my nice, long weekend.

Take care ladies!
Kathy

Today was a rough morning because my X is being a total pain in the rear and refusing to talk with me and my DD cried on the way to school about what she calls the Bid "D" and it put me all in a funk! But a friend came over and dragged me out on a pretty fall bike ride around two lakes so I am feeling better and my mom is taking me and my girls to the Denver Ballet's production of Gazelle so hey life isn't really to bad after all, right?

This weekend I have decided to head up to Steam Boat Springs for some R&R while the girls are with their dad so I probably won't check in and the only exercise I will do is some nice fall hikes. I am going to start the October rotation on next Wednesday though and pick up the STS Meso Cycle 2 after that....

Have a great long weekend everyone

Kathy: yes I got into Pilates about 14 years ago after a really bad car accident and I have really loved it ever since! It has always been more of a hobby though than a career and now that I am going through this divorce I will be looking for a more permeant career and just keep some privates on the side.

Janey: I love the cardio leg blast! It makes me a sweaty mess to and also beat red! You know it is working then right?

Hi Ladies!

Today I did KCM's Trim Down workout #2. What a great workout this is. Kelly has some awesome premixes too. This was doing a leg exercise then a boxing move. I can see myself mixing just the leg exercises from both of these workouts + KCM's lower body exercises from Split Sessions to really blast the legs.

Janie Sis: I'm sorry to hear that your sick. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Laura: I'm so sorry your soon to be ex is giving you so much trouble. Doesn't he understand that it not only effects you but the girls too? Can't he get along? <<<<HUGS>>>> Bike rides with beautiful scenery certainly calms the nerves.

Cindy: Hope your enjoying yourself. TTYS.

Take care,
Kathy

Feeling much better today. Most likely the meal I ate. It was in a box, what can I say. YUCK! Trying to save time, but it is not worth it. Rolly and I walked the beach for about 2 hours and then tonight did Party Rockin Step prem. #1. I viewed #2 and should have stayed with that one, but for some reason I did #1. OMG! Sweat fest and beet red afterword.
And much much harder in the choreography. Loved it although I was all over the board tripping but didn't fall. Glad of that. Will be going to my niece baby shower. Lots of family member including my daughter will be there. Will spend the night with her and come back on Sun. See you all then.

Kathy sis, Great job on KCM's Trim Down workout 2. Glad to see you enjoying your workouts. Yea!

Take care,

Janie

Hi everyone. I'm back. Somehow I just don't get around to checking in on the weekends. Starting week 2 of the October rotation today: today's workout is AOLIH from the Low Impact Series. I'm really enjoying Cathe's new workouts. I really like Party Rocking Step 2 (a little easier than 1 in terms of choreography but I think more intense cardio-wise). Today is Columbus day and I'm actually taking this holiday. At this point, I have so much vacation time plus a couple of holiday swaps that it doesn't make sense to work this holiday and save it for later in the calendar year.

Laura: it is one thing when two people divorce, another when children are involved as well. I truly hope that you all can get through this time and eventually end up in a place where everyone is happier. So sorry that you and your daughters are having to go through this.

Janie: I'm glad to read that sometimes you opt for a premix on the workouts. Sometimes I do as well--usually because I'm short for time or some part of my body is a little more sore than I like. We've got upper body burn sets tomorrow which is 79 minutes long. I won't have time to do that whole workout tomorrow morning so I'm going to see how I can split it up over tomorrow and another day in the week.

Kathy: we've had the same rainy weather that you all have had over the past week or so. We got almot 5 inches of rain where I live. I was hoping to get in my garden today to do some weeding but I am going to have to wait. Everything is extremely wet.

Cindy: Hope you had a great weekend. A trip to a hot springs resort sounds nice.

Hope everyone has a great Monday.
~michelle

Today Rolly and I walked fast on the beach for an hour and a half, and just now did Low Impact Hiit prem. 10 Floor and Step cardio, 39 min. From XTrain series.

Michelle, Good going on Starting wk 2 of the October rotation and doing AOLIH. Enjoy the Holiday today. I am too. I choose most of the time prem. on cardio days because I'm not sure I can do a whole DVD length yet. I will soon though. I can't wait for the 79 min. upper body burn sets tomorrow. Seems lengthy and will see how I feel at the time if I should opt for a prem. LOL

Take care,

Janie

I tried to get on yesterday to post but it was just too crazy - well it's been crazy since Thursday! The work conference was really good, I enjoyed catching up with people and soaking. The internet was really slow so that was a bummer. The weekend was nice and I got a lot done around the house, had some friends visit, and got in a short workout until Lucas refused to let me not hold him. It's really hard to jump with a baby in your arms. I did get back on track last night with the X10 STEP workout, I really enjoyed it. The music has such high energy it makes me want to dance and the warmup is just fun. Tonight I'm planning Muscle Max, I need a good burn.

Janie - What a great workout for the day! Glad you got to enjoy a nice long walk & I'm glad you're feeling better. How was the baby shower?

Michelle - Glad you got the day off, we have it exchanged for the day after Thanksgiving so no 3-day weekend for me, I could have used it though :) I have a hard time checking in on weekends too, I just don't find myself online like I do during the week.

Laura - Sorry about the rough day, I can't imagine the struggle you have with trying to help the girls through the divorce while you're dealing with your own stuff. You are a strong woman and a great role model for them. How was the weekend of relaxation?

Kathy - Did you do anything fun over your 3 day weekend?

Cindy

Tonight was Burn Sets (Upper Body). It was over 70 min. long and the time flew by. I needed this workout so badly.

Cindy, Baby shower was so much fun. Better yet, I got to see family. Glad to see you got a lot done around the house. Nothing like cleanmax to make you feel good. And having friends around simply makes for a great day. Great job on the short workout and last nights X10 Step. Enjoy MM.

Take care,

Janie

Last night didn't quite end up how I planned. Dave had to go do an on-sight after the kids were done with cheer and soccer so I didn't have my usual helping hand and it was 9 by the time nightly chores were done and Lucas was in bed. It was a little too late for me to exercise so I started making my Halloween costume. I also realized I still have a lot to figure out for the Halloween party in two weekends so I better get my list together and start what I can now :)

Tonight I'm aiming for Muscle Max again - I'll do something either way.

Janie - I love the CleanMax! It definitely makes me feel better when the house is clean. It's always nice seeing family :) That's awesome the 70 min flew by, can't beat that!

Cindy

I wrote out my post yesterday and then lost it. I hate when that happens and I wasn't motivated to retype. So, to catch up on workouts: yesterday was Burn Sets Chest, Back, and Shoulders; today was To The Max. I didn't have time for the whole Burn Sets upper body premix so I will get bis and tris in later in the week--probably in lieu of XTRAIN legs on Friday. I'm nursing an unhappy left hammie so I'm trying to go easy on the legs. I'm not sure that doing To The Max is going easy on the legs, but it sure was fun.:)

Janie: Isn't this October rotation fun? At least that's what I keep telling myself.

Cindy: so maybe I missed this but what are you going to be for Holloween? Is you DH dressing up for the party as well? Hope you enjoy Muscle Max today.

Michelle

The last couple of days Joey and I have been putting up the 2nd shed to store Winter things. Tomorrow we should be done. It was a lot of hard work. Tonight was Too The Max, of course you mustn't forget I use a lot of modifications or I wouldn't have been able to get through it all.

Cindy, Seems to me you already did your workouts through the things you had to do last night. Good for you. What will be your Halloween costume? I really like CleanMax too.

Michelle, Oh no, I hate when the post gets lost! You must have been so frustrated. Great job on yesterday's Burn Sets Chest, Back, and Shoulders, and Today's To The Max. Get the roller out and squeeze the pain right out of the hammies. I too am having fun with the Oct. rotation. I think for me is a different mind set or maybe it really is fun. LOL!

Take care ladies

Janie

Hello Ladies!

Sorry I've been MIA. DH had to take our only laptop to work w/him & I wasn't able to post until today. Work was terrible yesterday. It almost feels like punishment just for taking a few days off.

Saturday night went to visit friends. My DH plays the acoustic guitar & is in a band. Tuesday went shopping & bought a few things for myself. Other than that I just relaxed.

Saturday I did Push Pull using the Workout Blender to just do all the upper body exercises + abs. Sunday was Body Box All Cardio premix. Monday had a problem with my oil furnace. It was leaking & had to wait for the tech to come. What a wasted day! No workout. Tuesday was Great Glutes No Stability Ball premix. What a great premix this one is. It uses the chair & the firewalker band. My hamstrings are still hurting. I used the green band b/c I couldn't find the pink one. Yowza! Yesterday was a total dud. I tried to do X10 Cardio Blast one. Due to my legs hurting so bad I could barely do anything. Then went into Susan Chung's Rapid Fire 3 abs. Yowza! Did that hurt. Tonight's my pt session so no workout.

Janie Sis: Glad your enjoying the Oct. rotation. Putting up a shed is hard work. Your muscles are really feeling those DOMS now. Good job on To The Max.

Cindy: Just reading your posts make me feel exhausted. I don't know how you do it. What costume will you be wearing for Halloween? What activities do you have planned for the party?

Michelle: It is frustrating when you have a long post & then lose it. My hamstrings are hurting me too. Good suggestion from Janie re getting out the foam roller. I must do that tonight. Glad your enjoying Muscle Max. That's one of my favorites.

Have a great day! Waves to Laura!

Kathy

Finished with the shed, now onto better things. Tonight was HS. Wow, I did it, of course modified. Also Rolly and I walked fast on the beach this afternoon for about 45 min.

Kathy Sis, Sorry to hear about going back to work and trying to play catch up. Not working even for a couple of days and then going back was always hard for me. Every weekend. LOL or should I say Monday blues.

Wow, I love guitar. I bet you get front row seats when hubby plays. How FUN! Hope you enjoyed your Saturday shopping and relaxing.

Great job on Saturday's Push Pull and doing upper body exercises and abs. And for Sundays Body Box All Cardio premix. I've always found waiting for a repair man all day long does seem like a wasted day. Great job on Tuesday's Great Glutes No Stability Ball premix. I'll be doing that one shortly, can't wait! Bet you are enjoying tonights pt session and not having to exercise. You poor thing, I am proud of you for working so hard this week.

Take care,

Janie

I thought I had checked in yesterday but I guess not! Wednesday night I did 30 min of the Kick Max Cardio Leg premix, it's one I don't enjoy doing but it felt pretty good all in all. Last night I did Tabatacise 1-3, it was a good 30 min workout and I'm excited to try all 5 at once. I'm a bit annoyed because one of my molars chipped last night, I was at the dentist a few months ago and had one crown put in and they refilled my other molar but now that it's chipped I guess I'll have to get another crown. Not looking forward to that!

I'm going to be a paper doll for Halloween and Dave is going to be a mad scientist to go along with the mad scientist lab we'll have set up downstairs. We'll have a Halloween bingo game, a skeleton scavenger hunt, roasting marshmallows in the back yard (weather permitting), and lots of Halloween food. I'm really looking forward it but had a dream last night no one showed up, at least we all still had fun :)

We have a really busy weekend. Lucas has his 1 year appointment and shots this afternoon, we're going to the hay bale maze tonight, doing the corn maze tomorrow, and hopefully I can sneak in an additional quick workout one day. That's the fun stuff, I have a lot of chores to do around the house so it will be non-stop but it will also help me be better prepared for next weekend's party.

Michelle - It's so frustrating when posts get lost! Great job on your exercises, you're an inspiration.

Janie - Nothing wrong with modification at all, I know I have to modify here and there too.

Kathy - Great job working out so hard, you know you're successful when you're burning so much.

Cindy

Yesterday was Hardstrikes which I always enjoy and today was burn sets bis and tris and X10 low impact HIIT. My hammie is feeling better but now my left hip is feeling sore--I guess the strain is traveling up my left leg. Tomorrow is my second attempt with Party Rocking Step 1--we'll see how that goes. Going to get some online Christmas shopping done this weekend. Little by little, I'm chipping away at the gifts. Ah--here comes my sweet pup. Must be that time of day when he is thinking that it is time for a little walkabout and maybe if we are lucky, he will see his puppy buddies.

Cindy: I love the paper doll idea. I don't think I've ever had a trick-or-treater dressed up as a paper doll. Very original. Sounds like you have yet another busy weekend. I'm going to try to get my end of year garden work done this weekend which means finishing clipping back bushes and doing the first leaf pick up.

Janie: Yes, winter is coming. Sounds like you and Joey are ahead of the power curve on getting ready.

Kathy: my sister did Cathe's lean legs and abs last weekend and her legs finally felt "normal" today. Sounds like Great Glutes has the same effect. Next week is a major leg workout week on the October rotation; both lean legs and abs and great glutes are on the rotation. Something to look forward to:p.
Hope your furnace is back in working order--better to have a problem now than in January or February.

Ripken is laying right next to my chair, patiently waiting for me to finish my check-in--as always he sends licks and tail wags to everyone.
~michelle

Today was XTrain Legs Plus X10 Low Impact Hiit only. Whew, Love The Hiit! Also Rolly and I walked the beach for about 35 min. Such beautiful weather lately.

Cindy, Great job on Wednesday's 30 min of Kick Max Cardio Leg premix. And on the Tabatacise 1-3. You will do just fine I bet with all 5 at once. Oh no, a chip in the molar doesn't sound like fun. You poor thing. I can envision you as a paper doll. What a unique costume! I love mad scientists and with the lab should be scary. Sounds like a lot of fun. ENJOY THE PARTY! I'm sure everyone will be there with bells on their toes.;) How was the shot for Lucas go? And the maze? Never did it before and would love to try to get it in this year. I'm sure you will have everything ready for the party next weekend. I can't wait to hear about it.

Michelle, Great job on HS, it was fun for me too. And today's Burn sets bis and tris and X10 Low impact Hiit. Whew! Glad your hamstrings are feeling better. Oh no, hope the hip feels better by tomorrow. Good for you getting Christmas shopping done. Please give Ripken a pet and hug for me.

Take care ladies,

Janie
