Getting Our Licks In!

Hi everyone. For some reason I forget to check in on the weekends but somehow find someway to get here during the work week. I survived GS chest and triceps on Friday, took a break on Saturday, and did XTRAIN cardio leg blast yesterday. This morning was Cross Train 10-10-10 with tricep work. My arms still have doms from Friday so maybe the weight work will help alleviate that a bit. Usually works that way for me.

Janie: I hope the little bird that you found makes it. I just hate when stuff like that happens, but mother-nature has her own way. That's cool that you found a "hidden" foot path. So glad you didn't get rained on. Goodness knows, Ripken and I have gotten soaked at times. Not so bad in the summer when it is warm; but once it gets cooler, getting soaked on a walkabout is no fun (at least not for me).

Cindy: sounds like Lily is over the hump on the soccer--now she can really start enjoying it. Great job on Tabaticise--love that workout. Looking forward to the day when I can get through all 5.

Kathy: sounds like your PT is going better. I'm a bit in awe of all the different workouts that you have. I know that our Janie has alot of different workouts, but I'm beginning to think that your collection might challenge her library.

ReneeP: I'm so glad that you are going to run in the 5k--such a positive way to focus your energy by dedicating this effort to Ryan. God bless you.

Michelle

Hey guys...popping in again! Gosh time does get away from me these days!

Renee I am so so so sorry to hear about your boy! I am just at a loss for words and I think it is amazing that you are going to dedicate your run for him....((((((HUGS)))))

I finally motivated for STS Leg day and it about killed me! I have been not feeling a 100% and my immune systems been down but I have had enough of this feeling low business and made myself push through it, but it was tough! I sometimes can't figure out when to push and when to rest?/ What do you all do for finding that fine balance? I know that the more I exercise the more energy I have and the better I feel but a friend of my mothers who is a Dr was visiting and she said considering the amount of stress I am under that hard exercise would just aggravate the negative effects of stress already in my body...

any thoughts or opinions?

Rolly and I had to show my Joey the secret trail we found. He was as enthused as I was. He said this is a great find and will be enjoying this trail a lot. We are excited to find out where all the other side paths go to. We'll do that another time. Today was also 10.10.10 which (besides 30/30) is one workout I dearly love.

Kathy sis, It's true there are monsters just waiting to do bad things to people where they can't see them. And the Rain Forest Trail is perfect cover for that. I felt a little uneasy walking it the first time. But at the time I thought I could get in a car accident, or a plane accident or all those unfortunate things some people go through. And I asked myself if I stopped all those things I love to do, then why live? But then again it's better being safe than sorry. I'll make sure someone is with me from now on. Great job on the entire workout to Body Box all 4 combos and intervals. You should be very proud of yourself. You are doing really good improvising because of your arm. Good for you. Enjoy your PT session tonight. I hope it won't be painful for you this time around. Listen to your gut feeling, they usually are spot on. OOOOO I'm going to watch the infomercial on P90X3. I have P90X and I really like it. Love the idea of workouts 30 min. or less.

Cindy, Sounds like you had a wonderful and deserving fun time at the BBQ. Aww, Lily is getting use to her soccer game. Isn't that nice? I'm proud of her too, she's very brave. Love the way you treated her to a Monster High doll. How sweet. Great job on Tabatacise 1-2 and Burn Set Back. How was Afterburn tonight? I love squash, enjoy the healthy food.

Michelle, Great job survived GS chest and triceps on Friday. Glad to see you are taking breaks from exercise. So important as you well know. Also great job on Xtrain cardio leg blast yesterday and this mornings Cross Train 10.10.10 with tricep work.

Laura, Yes, time is like that and before you know it... Great job on STS Leg. It's a hard one for sure. Very proud of you getting yourself out of a rut. It's hard I know. For me finding that right balance is when I get sassy/angry too easily or I feel I don't want to do an exercise, When I feel really tired and famished and even wanting to eat everything in sight. Then I try to listen for those clues that work for me, and scale it down a notch or even take a rest day. Stress I hear can take many forms. I do believe the doctor and her opinion she gave you. Try to find clues for yourself and listen to your body. It's not as hard as you might think. You are doing great.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Afterburn was good last night, I kept up with everything but the wide leg mountain climbers, I couldn't do them fast at the end. Dave enjoyed listening to me grunt as I was trying to complete some of the moves, it's felt great. Dinner was also really good, my kids are more open to squash than Dave is but he ate the stuffing at least :) He's started training for a half marathon in May so now he's running again and started P90X again last night. It's good motivation for me too and I'll probably join him on a couple P90X workouts here and there.

Kathy - I told Dave about the P90X3 and he got really excited to have shorter workouts so I'll probably be getting that for him for Christmas.

Michelle - I look forward to making it through all 5 also, I was impressed I did 2 so next time I'll try 3. I have a hard time checking in on weekends also, I'm just not online as much as I am at work.

Laura - I think you need to just listen to your body and see what it's asking for. If the exercise makes you feel better and less stressed then keep up with it. If it seems to be stressing your body maybe try adding some more calming workouts like yoga or walks/jogs outside. I'd say take it a little easier if you're not feeling 100% and pump that vitamin C!

Janie - I love your adventures with the new trail, how fun! Do you keep pepperspray on you when you walk? I always have one on my hip when I'm out running, not necessarily just for people but also for animals (as long as it's not a bear) in case things go wrong.

Cindy

Leaner legs this morning. I thought it had weight work and floor work but the second part is abs--thank goodness because my legs are feeling a little fried after Cardio Leg Blast on Sunday. I'm very excited about the new workouts; sister was checking out the clips last night and said they look really fantastic. Back to working out with my boss/colleagues. We are doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred: right now we are just on level one. I tell you what, it is only a 25 minute workout and it just flies by. We'll see how my body does on two workouts a day--if I get too worn out, I'll just take a break from the second workout or not work it as hard.

Janie: I'm such a personal safety freak but I never wondered about the safety of walking on that trail. Of course, you did have Rolly with you to protect you. I'm glad someone likes 10-10-10 because it sure isn't one of my favorites--not crazy about the hi/lo--the rest is fine.

Cindy: Cathe doesn't call it afterburn for nothing--the workout also provides a good afterglow.

Laura: I'm with Cindy; I think you need to listen to your body, mind, and soul and do what works for you. Too many people use stress as an excuse NOT to exercise. Exercise is a positive; I don't see how it can be bad for you--push to the point of feeling good and don't risk getting injured. I'm kind of baffled by the advice you recieved--from a doctor no less.

Hi Ladies!

Too much work today. I'll probably have to make this short. I had a very good PT session last night. She used a laser machine this time & today my arm is the best its ever felt. Yipee!

Tonight I'll be doing Afterburn. I know Cindy did this one but I'll probably have to modify some moves. Its all good. Glad to hear that Lily's not scared of soccer any longer & also that you had much fun at your BBQ. P90X3 is definitely coming out Dec. 10th!!! Can't wait & I'll be waiting on reviews. Hopefully I'll be able to do it by then. Both you & Dave should do it together.

Janie Sis: I would walk on a trail like that in broad daylight. LOL Sounds wonderful though. I meant though if your house had the woods behind you that would be too creepy for me. But happy that Rolly likes the trail. Its always fun to find new trails too. I miss my Rottweiler. My DH & I used to take him into Bayside which had some woods & we used to let him run wild. I do miss him. He was our 1st baby. 10-10-10 was always one of my favorites. This one too is on VHS. Can't do it anymore. :(

Michelle: Great job on your workouts. Your really cranking them out especially w/doing 2 workouts a day no less. Your my warrior! :)

Laura: I believe Cathe had an article in relation to exercising & stress. When your feeling stressful you are supposed to take it down a notch do something more low impact opposed to high. Good luck at finding that balance. I think I'm still trying to find it. LOL

Gotta run! TTY tomorrow,
Have a good night,
Kathy

Tonight was XTXpress Leaner Legs. OMG! I need these legs exercises so badly.

Cindy, Great job on Afterburn last night. You are really strong if you kept up with everything but the wide leg mountain climbers. Wow. Congratulations! Very nice to see health and fitness runs in the family. Makes everything right. Never thought of pepper spray. Might have to get some. Thank you for the suggestion.

Michelle, Great job on this mornings Leaner Legs. And working out with your boss tne colleagues doing Jillian 30 day shred. I have a feeling two workouts you can do especially when one of them is not so intense. Good job.

Kathy sis, Glad to hear your PT session went well and your arm is the best its felt. A laser Machine? Great job on tonights Afterburn. My hubby was kind enought to put 10.10.10 and all the other workouts in the series on DVD for me. Yes, if the woods were in my backyard It would be kinda freaky to me too. Never thought of it like that.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Hi Ladies!

Last night I did Afterburn. Some of the weight exercises called for you to hold onto a db. Of course I did which I probably shouldn't have done. My wrist & elbow are hurting today.
:( I'll try to do some of my stretches at work. The PT doesn't have me wearing my elbow guard anymore. I have to keep track of good & bad days & report back to her.

Tonight I'll be doing Turbo Barre the 52" premix. Believe me that's enough! You don't know how much I miss holding onto that barbell. And Leaner Legs. That one was always one of my favorite leg dvds + Cardio Leg Blast + all the Plyo Legs from STS. Boo Hoo! At least I'm getting better at barre.

I went & purchased Kelly Coffey-Meyers' Trim Down dvd. She's in this one solo. No background exercisers. It looks to me to be a circuit workout. Can't wait to get this one besides Cathe's new ones.

Is everyone getting excited? What are you planning on doing first when you receive them? I'm going to do the Glutes one.

TTYL. Have to get back to work now.

Kathy

Brodie's soccer practice was cancelled last night due to rain, it was barely sprinkling! Seemed really silly to us. I wound up joining Dave for P90X Plyometrics since he didn't go for a run due to the rain/thunder storm that hit. He's getting a run in this morning since his car is in for maintenance so he's walking the kids to school and will then use my jogging stroller to get his run taken care of.

Tonight I plan to do Athletic Training Upper Body Express and I have a roast in the crock pot with cauliflower ready to steam, looking forward dinner :)

Michelle - What fun to have a group of ladies at work to do 30 day shred with. Nice to have the extra motivation and I hope 2 workouts a day goes well for you.

Kathy - I hope your wrist & elbow feel better soon. I'm sure I'll do P90X3 with Dave, I always miss Cathe though so I'll have to figure out how to get my dose of her too, maybe I'll have to double up on a few days.

Janie - It is nice that Dave likes to stay active, I keep trying to get him to join me on some Cathe DVD's but he just won't do it. Maybe she scares me :)

Cindy

Rolly and I speed walked/walked on the beach for 45 min. Weather held out beautifully.

Kathy sis, Great job on Afterburn last night. Oh no, the elbow thing again. I have to tell you that's exactly how it heals. Good day and bad days. Will take awhile to heal. You are doing fantastic continuing with the workouts. Enjoy turbo Barre. Barre is one of my favorites. Seems to really get deep into the muscles. Enjoy the New Kelly DVD, it sounds great. I think I'm going to do the Total body workout when I receive mine.

Cindy, Oh no about soccer being canceled. That is such a bummer. Great job joining hubby for Plyometrics. Love how your hubby is so involved with the kids. Your dinner sounds so yummy. I love cauliflower steamed.

Take care everyone,

Janie

My arms were shaking by the end of Athletic Training Upper body Express, I can already see some better definition in my arms over the last few weeks so it's was worth the shakes :) Tonight I'm going to clean the house instead of exercising. I have some DOMS going on so it will be a good break. We're getting rain in the valleys and I did peek some snow on the mountains yesterday when they weren't covered in clouds, thankfully it's not too cold here yet so my tomatoes can keep ripening on the vine.

Janie - I am very lucky with how hands-on Dave is with the kids - though there are times it feels like he's not when I'm exhausted :) I head to work earlier than him so he always takes care of the morning drop off, it's really nice. Great job getting your walk in and I'm glad the weather held out for you. It's that time of year when you're never sure what exactly is going to happen with weather.

Hi Everyone!

Last night didn't get out of work on time. Had to switch up workouts. I did Xtrain's barre bonus section + Core #1. I just hate not getting out on time.

Tonight I'm torn between doing Kelly Coffey-Myers' Power Sculpt which is a total body workout or doing the upper body premix to Athletic Training. Cindy you inspired me to check the premix out. I figured since I worked lower body yesterday why not do ub today. I'll let you all know what I did tomorrow.

Cindy: I have no idea why they cancelled Brodie's soccer practice. Our coaches never did that. My DS had one coach that had them playing when it was dark! Ridiculous! I wish my DH would workout w/me sometimes. Its so nice that you 2 get to do the same workout. And Plyometrics no less. That ones not easy. And you are very lucky to have a DH that helps out w/the kids. Your meal you made of the roast & the cauliflower sounds delish! Any leftovers for me? :) I never did the upper body express to AT. You know you accomplished what you set out to do when you have that much shaking going on. Makes you feel like a warrior. That must be such a pretty sight w/snow on the mountains. Hope the sun comes out soon.

Janie Sis: Glad you enjoyed your speed walking w/Rolly. My arm feels good today. At least there are more good days than bad. You bought KCM's Total body dvd? Your going to like that one.

Which workout of Cathe's new ones are you all thinking of doing first? I'm planning on Glutes. Do you think we'll be receiving them next week? Can you tell I'm excited. LOL

Take care,
Kathy

Well I know that I was here yesterday typing in a post, but it seems that I did not submit it. So, yesterday was Cross Train Express All Step and today was Cross Train Express Kickbox. Two more workouts to go for the September rotation and then I am thinking about doing an active recovery week while waiting for the new workouts. Still do JM with my boss at 5 every afternoon--my body is one big tired, but I'm getting used to it as the new normal.

Kathy: I know exactly what you mean about not leaving work when you are supposed to. Throws off the evening routine--hate that. The positive is that you adjusted and still got in a workout which is better than not.

Cindy: shaking arms are always a good thing. Enjoy your "rest" day. You and Kathy have got me curious now about the Afterburn upper body premix. I'll have to check that out. Way too early for snow--but I guess not in Montana. Last night I saw the first holiday commercial on television. Even though I've started my Christmas shopping, it just seems to early for actual Christmas commercials--what happened to Holloween and Thanksgiving?

Janie: How are you doing with the September rotation? Sweet little Rolly--how does he keep up with you speed-walking. His legs have got to be really moving.

It's Thursday night which means college football: my VaTech Hokies are playing GaTech tonight in Atlanta. I hope I can stay up at least until half-time.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

HI EVERYONE! Just read all the posts and it seems everyone is working out hard! It is really motivating actually to read these posts! It does make you want to get moving too!:D

Tuesday: I did Pilates which felt really difficult and my body felt stiff and out of whack. In my head I was like "Whose body is this???"" ;):(
Then I went outside on the trail and did a fast walk around and then went to the steps in front of the County Corral (where they do their rodeos) and did some stair running, lunges, dips, ext for a fun outdoor workout on a beautiful fall day. It was nice to do something new!

Wednesday: I did my coach to 5k program and for the first time since I started it I felt GREAT!!! I could run easily for the time allotted and actually felt I could run longer but instead I decided to adhere to the program and just worked on picking up my speed a little more. It helped motivate me to keep going! I knew if I kept with it eventually it would feel good again!

Today: I did STS Week 3 Chest, Shoulders, & Biceps. I really struggled through the 172 pushups, and I did the vast majority from my knees but I got through all of them so I am Happy! Hard to believe a year ago I could do all the pushups from my toes.

Michelle: so you are doing the September rotation? Do you like it? How's your sis doing? Good for you to bring your healthy lifestyle to your colleagues!

KathH: do you like Kelley Meyers workouts? I am not sure if I will try the new workouts until I finish my STS but I will see! Hard to make the longterm commitment right now! ;) I really am excited for the new step routines though!

Cindy you are lucky you and your husband can workout together, mine would never workout with me... Where do you live that you have gotten snow? WIth all the rain we had here in Boulder I could actually imagine a coach shortening or postponing a practice. So many people here are still very much in shock and trying to recuperate their lives....but otherwise it does seem a little extreme...

Janie: ahhh the beach walking lifestyle you live! So lucky! Seems like you are at the beach more often this year?[/COLOR]

HUGS and LOVE and PRAYERS going to you Renee!!

Today was a fast walk on the beach for 30 min. to warm up for CTXKickbox. It's called a sweat fest. LOL

Will talk more tomorrow.

Janie

Brodie's soccer practice was cancelled again with the excuse that the wind was starting to pick up (it really wasn't) and it was cold. High 40's should not cancel soccer in my mind especially when Lily's team still practiced. It's only Sept do they think it's going to be any better in October? I know last year we busted out long johns and snow pants for a few practices and that's OK. On the bright side Lily's coach let Brodie practice with them and I kicked around the ball with him for a bit before that so he got some practice in. I'm trying to remind myself that some people don't do well with the cold...

I did not get the house cleaned last night, instead I pulled up Brodie's old clothes and dug through the warm stuff to get out for Lucas. I did do a little bit of organizing and then went to bed. Finally I got a full night sleep with no interruptions and I needed it. I need to run errands tonight, clean, and get a short workout in so it will be a busy one.

Hoping to do some play dates for the kids this weekend, bake cake for Lucas's birthday next weekend, and we have soccer games. Should be a nice weekend.

Kathy - Playing in the dark is a bit much, but I guess a glow in the dark ball could make it fun :) I really enjoy the premixes Cathe offers to hit certain areas, she's just awesome. I think we should see the workouts next week. I only pre-ordered X10 and I'll be busting it out as soon as I get it, I can't wait!

Michelle - At least the snow this time of year melts pretty quick :) Great job on your exercises, you're doing awesome. I'm never surprised by how early the Christmas stuff hits the shelves, maybe it's a sign that retailers are trying to encourage holiday spending earlier to spread out their sales. It's silly though.

Laura - It is great motivation to read what everyone is doing, keeps me honest when I want to be lazy :) I would struggled with 172 pushups too! At least you modified and before you know it you'll be back to no modification at all. I'm in the Bozeman, MT area, we had some flakes coming down yesterday but they didn't stick. Other areas in Montana did get snow to stick, I guess it's time to start packing the snow pants in the kids' backpacks. The floods in Colorado are mind boggling, such devastation.

Janie - Great job getting the sweatfest in!

Cindy

Haven't worked out yet today, but thought I would check-in. I've got Cross Train Express Intervals waiting for me in a couple of hours. Looking forward to receiving the new workouts. I hope sending out these new workouts helps Cathe to feel a bit better after her dad passed away this week.

Laura: I haven't done STS since last winter and you are making me happy that I never counted all the pushups in meso1. There are a bunch--I do know that. Every time you check in these days, you sound better and better. And I've loved doing the September rotation; it has been a good mix of old and new Cathe workouts. Sister has become a lurker here on the forums, but she is doing well. She's losing weight--again--which is good because she had allowed her eating/drinking habits to get seriously out of whack. I believe she has lost somewhere between 40 and 50 pounds since March.

Cindy: cancelled soccer practice due to wind--that is a new one. I'm not recalling hearing anything about strong winds in Montana this week. Who decides whether or not the kids have practice? The coaches? And really because it was cold? I mean you live in Montana--you are right, the weather isn't going to be appreciably warmer in Montana in October. I'm wondering if the coaches are having commitment issues. It's also interesting that your daughter's team had practice but not your son's.

Kathy: hope you are doing well and that your arm is feeling happy today.

Janie: kickbox was fun yesterday, wasn't it?

Michelle

Me and my some day soon going to be X ALL THOUGH IT FEELS LIKE FOREVER got into it on the phone today but instead of letting it spiral me out I went for my walk-run combo which felt really good! I can't control so much of my life right now but I can control that! I also did STS Back and Triceps. I have to be honest I can't wait to be done with Meso Cycle 1 which is always my least favorite! I don't have a slow twitch muscle fiber body type and endurance workouts are always my least favorite although I appreciate the fact that I do need to do them@!

OH girls just came in wet cold and muddy from Cross COuntry meet and I got go check on them!

oh my what cold wet and muddy girls! Eliza shaved 4 minutes of her last race which is FANTASTIC!

Michelle: well I can relate to Renee's plight! I have gained weight with the stress Ive been under, not a ton, but enough to be uncomfortable in my clothes and in my own skin, the drinking got bad too for a little while  but I have nipped that in the bud! It can become such a self destructive cycle so quickly ...

Cindy: I am very familiar with the layers and snow pant routine...and never knowing what the weather will be like!! Yesterday was gorgeous and unseasonable warm and woke up to think I had been transported to the PNW~! It was a cold dreary day that misted, not actually rained all day, which hardly ever happens here
