Getting Our Licks In!

Today was a walk with Rolly on the beach then after that warm up did Gym Style Legs. Whew! Legs are so hard for me!

Michelle, Still at the beach house until late October. Some of the best weather is here during that time. Hopefully this year as well. Great job on the walk with Ripken. OMG! Hopefully the person will get stopped ASAP. Wow! I've been hearing about it on the news. It's awful! Glad you had a rest day Sat. and great job on IMAX2 yesterday and Gym Style Legs this morning. Hope you can get your boss to workout with you. Let us know how it goes. I'm not looking forward to those drop set pushups, but will modify down to the knees when needed. LOL

Take care,

Janie

Oh my hugs and love out to all those suffering out there with either the loss of loved ones from the shooting or homes due to the flooding and livelihood from the Jersey Boardwalk! It is so much to take process!

Well the only thing I guess I can control is my workouts! It took me all day to motivate but I did finally do the Meso Cycle 1 Week 2 C, S &Bi's!

I've been cooking a chicken in the crockpot all day and made collard greens and potatoes so going to enjoy a Sunday style dinner with my kids tonight!

Janie: Yes leg days are always hard to motivate for but the results are worth it aren't they??

Michelle: (((HUGS)) to everyone in your area! Have you heard anything new? I've been tuning in and out of CNN all day..

Kathy glad the rest helped your arm! IMAX! WOW always a tough one! I haven't done it in so long!

Enjoying more fall-like weather with my sweet pup on our walkabouts. Did double-wave pyramid this morning for my cardio and will be trying out Jillian Michaels level 1 workout from 30-day shred later this afternoon with my boss, assuming she remembered to bring socks today. I previewed the workout at lunchtime. It's a good beginner's workout but I've got to say: do I really need a commercial before the workout screen? It's like having to sit through move previews on a movie dvd--so irritating. Made me love Cathe's workouts all the more because you don't get a sell job on her other workouts, you go straight to the main menu so you can get to the workout. It made me realize how much thought Cathe and her crew put into the production of the Cathe workouts and how much they try to provide a seamless product that meets their customers' wants. IMHO, the best way to produce demand for more workouts is to provide good solid workouts without any commercials.

Laura: chicken, potatos, and collard greens sounds likes good southern cooking to me. Gosh, I can almost smell it way over here in Va. Way to go on starting week 2 of meso1!

Janie: you guys really have done a great job on your beach house. Your pictures make it look spacious. I'm impressed.

Hi to Kathy and Cindy.
Michelle

I went for a jog walk combo today. The sun was out and I really wanted to be outside to enjoy this beautiful weather after all that rain! I am doing a coach to 5k running program on my iPhone. I am on week two. It is alternating between 1 & 1/2 minute runs with 2 minute walks for 6 cycles so it is relatively painless! Not my usual style to ease into something so slowly, but I am not where I was a few years ago where I could just go out and jog 3 miles and now that I am over 40 I am beginning to understand the importance of patience! I might tack on some abs a little latter in the day...

Michelle I couldn't agree with you more! "IMHO, the best way to produce demand for more workouts is to provide good solid workouts without any commercials." Well said! Speaking of the clips for the new workouts look great!

Wedding Video today. Just love that one. Here is a photo of my Fiddle-Doodle (zentangle). Couldn't figure out a name for the type of artwork I do so named it Fiddle-Doodle. LOL

It's my hand and spray can. Think I might have real words, but don't know what to say yet. Any suggestions?

Laura, Great job on Meso Cycle 1 Week 2 c, S and Bi's. The dinner smells so good. Even from here. Yummmmmmmmy. Enjoy. You are right, theses workouts are so worth it, cause I get wonderful results.:)

Michelle, Great job on the walk with Ripken and the double wave pyramid for the cardio. How was Jillian's DVD? Glad to hear your boss did it with you?

Laura, Great job on your jalk today. Those to me are Hitts. Congrats on the week 2 of coach to 5k running program. Sounds like a winner to me especially not having to set it up yourself. I'm impressed with you.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Quick check in: GS Back, Shoulders, and Biceps this morning. Great workout. My boss and I did Jillian Michael's level 1 workout from her 30-day shred dvd yesterday afternoon. I would say it is a good beginners workout.

Laura: sounds like you are back into exercising on a regular schedule. Ripken and I have a motto: slow and easy wins the race. So, your approach to easing back into running sounds good to me. Let your body get used to exercising again and minimize risk of injury.

Janie: I love the use of shells in your newest zentangle. I've got quite a collection of seashells so I noticed them right away.

Michelle

Today was GS back shoulders and biceps. Gotta love it! Still being very careful but feeling good about it too. Then a usual walk on the beach with Rolly for about 40 min.

Missing some of you. Do take care. LOL

Michelle, Great job on GS Back, Shulders and biceps this morning. Can't believe you are doing two workouts per day. Even if it's a beginners workout. Good for you for doing JM workout with your boss. That is so cool.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Hi Ladies!

I've been MIA due to workoad. Just awful. Keeping up though w/some of my workouts. Saturday was GS back/shoulders/biceps timesaver premix; Sunday let's just say I tried to do the choreo to IMAX3. OMG! I really forgot most of it. I only managed to get through combos & intervals 1 & 2. I was truly in choreo overload. LOL I pulled that one out I went onto AOLIC floor cardio & then did KCM's Train Like a Contender conditioning section. Monday was GS chest/triceps timesaver premix + Ab Circuits med ball but only used a pink 3# med ball. Tuesday was Hi-lo Dynamics from Amy Bento Ross but again the choreo threw me especially in the 2nd combo. Amy has a tendency to do a lot of turns. I then did her abs to this dvd. Wednesday was a rest day as day at work was awful. Tonight's my PT session but will try to do Xtrain's barre section.

Michelle: It was just horrible hearing about the shooting in DC. My prayers go out to everyone. You've been doing so well & doing 2 workouts a day besides. Its been beautiful here too w/the weather. I've been thinking about what Ladubose does w/walking & running. I want to see if some weight of mine will come off. Maybe shake things up a bit.

Janie Sis: Glad to hear that your back at it w/the weights. GS is not an easy one to do. I can't do any pushups yet but I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Arm is getting better little by little. I'll have to go back to see the picture of your new Zantganle. I might've spelled the word wrong. You do such beautiful work. I'm impressed. Have you sold any of your work?

Waves to Cindy! We know your busy!!

Have a good day everyone.

Kathy

Must be something about September--it seems folks get so busy and we know it is only going to get crazier as we get closer to the holidays. I just hope everyone keeps on exercising even if you don't have time to check in. For me, checking in is like my 5 minutes of reprieve each day so I hate when I miss a day or two or three. My sweet pup is extra sweet smelling because he went to the groomer yesterday. Boy, he knows he looks good too and manages to muster up a little show-dog attitude during our walks. Ripken is such a golden retriever. Did HIIT 30/30 this morning. I have to say this workout is starting to grow on me in terms of being one of my favorites. Also found my Defense Dept ID today which I thought I might have lost--but it fell under my car seat. Thank goodness I found it!

Janie: did you enjoy HIIT 30/30 today? Guess what? Tomorrow we've got those drop set pushups waiting for us. Can hardly wait--how about you?

Kathy: Boy--you've been busy, but you've also been doing great modifications on your workouts. Don't forget: IMAX3 has a premix which is just the intervals which I have found to be a good way to refresh my memory on what is in that workout. But I know what you mean about choreography overload in IMAX--it happens to me too.

Hi to Cindy and Laura: hope you all are getting your licks in.

So sorry I've been MIA! Work was busy early on this week with moving my office and then Lucas came down with a fever and I've been dealing with that since. They think he has a virus and it's been temp control for 2.5 days now. I thought he broke the fever last night only to see 104.8 2 hours later, I'm tired and my neck hurts from sleeping on the couch with him. He has had two great naps today so hopefully tonight I can get him to sleep in his crib IF his fever seems to be under better control. On the bright side all of my laundry is done and my house is clean.

I've been getting exercise in regularly, got in a jog over the weekend, an XBOX workout with Dave on Monday, and Tabatacise yesterday. This was the first time I was able to do Tabatacise since my new shoes keep my knees feeling good :) Not sure what I'll do tonight but I'm thinking Hiit. Today starts the burn phase of the Advocare 24 day challenge, I've lost 4.6 pounds and 5 7/8 inches overall so not too bad!

Michelle - I think I'll do Hiit 30/30 today too, it's a great workout for a short one. Golden's know they always look good, they are such sweet dogs.

Kathy - Great job keeping the exercise up while you're busy, it can be hard to do but is so important :)

Janie - I love the drawing - have a great talent.

Laura - I did couch to 5K a few years ago to get myself into running, I really enjoyed the program and like that I can now just get out for a short jog and not feel like a total amateur.

Cindy

One of my all time favorite workouts 30/30. Love it! And a 45 min. beach walk with Rolly. Found a poor little seabird going in and out with the tide. I picked it up and all kinds of green little bugs were on it. I didn't have the heart to put it to sleep, obviously it was very sick. So I put it on a bed of soft seaweed in hopes the sea would take him out gently. When I left it, I looked back and he was off the seaweed bed going in and out with the tied. I cried.

Update: I've been on line about this bird and I have high hopes to it's future. Pretty sure it is a Murre seabird.

Cool Fact:

A Murre chick leaves the cliff in dramatic style. Even without proper flight feathers, it hurls itself off the edge and glides down to sea—a drop of 800 to 1,000 feet (244 m to 304 m). The male murre escorts the chick out to sea, where he feeds and cares for it until the chick can fly on its own. Also I learned when it's molting it won't fly from 45 days to 60 days. Positive thinking on this beautiful seabird.

Kathy sis, Being such a busy woman I'm proud of you for keeping up with the workouts. Great job on Sat. GS bac shoulders and biceps timesaver. 1 amd 2. Then doing AOLIC floor cardio and KCM's Train. Wow! You go girl!:D Also for Mon. GS chest triceps timesaver prem and ab circuits med ball and using the 3# med. ball. For Tues. Hi-lo Dynamics from Amy and her abs. For Wedn. great rest day and for tonights PT session. So glad your elbow/arm is doing better.

Michelle, Aw you know what I like. 30/30 was made just for me. And rearing to go on those drop set pushups. YIKES! Please give our Ripken a wonderful kiss for us. What a sweet clean boy. Love to see that dog attitude. How cute. Glad you found your ID card too. Great job on 30/30. YaHoo!

Cindy, Aw not fun when you are so busy and little one gets sick. Good going on your cleanmax. Great job on the job last weekend and Mon. XBox workout with Dave and Tabatacise yesterday. Any hiit especially 30/30 is good. Enjoy it. Congratulations on losing 4.6 pounds and 6 inches. Fantastic! Very proud of you. Keep up the good work.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Hi Ladies!

PT session last night was a good one even though my arm was killing me afterwards. She placed an athletic band on my arm instead of the one I purchased at the drugstore. The one she gave me works better. Arm doesn't hurt as much today.

Tonight I'll be doing Xtrain's legs or the barre section. Not sure yet.

I always liked 30/30 & the Double Wave Pyramid. Great job on doing this one ladies.

Janie Sis: So sad about the bird. I would've cried too. I love animals. I have a feral cat who just turned up on my deck one day. She had 3 kittens. I had all 4 of them trapped & spayed/neutered but all 4 of them come to eat every single day on my deck. I have my own cat, Tuxedo. The mother cat I named Baby. I've never known a feral cat to come to me when I call her let alone let's me pick her up & kiss her. She's tiny & a beauty too. I'm trying to come up with a shelter for all of them on my deck before winter sets in. The things we do for our animals. Michelle can relate. :) I LOVE the new drawing. Your quite the artist.

Michelle: Give Ripken a hug from me. I love that smell on dogs when they just get groomed. Don't blame him for strutting his stuff. Glad you found your ID. You suggested I do the intervals premix to IMAX3. Will this help me w/the choreo?

Cindy: Good hearing from you. Great job on losing 4.6#s. I guess the Advocare is working for you. I hope Lucas is feeling much better today. What is this couch to 5K? I heard of it but never tried it. Who puts it out? Is it Cardio Coach?

Must get to work.

TTYL,
Kathy

Hiit 30/30 felt great last night, I did better than I expected since I was newly pregnant last time I did it. Tonight I'm going to do some Athletic Training and get to bed early. Lucas is better so I'm at work and already am happy it's Friday! Saturday I'm planning a run in the morning and then we are hosting a BBQ so there will be some cheating with food and alcohol but I'm going to watch myself. Should be a good weekend and it seems like our last one in the 70's for the year.

Janie - That is so sad, it's hard to see any animal struggle. You have such a sweet heart to put it on a nice bed!

Kathy - That's great the band she gave you helped, woo! I think I dislike the Pyramid Hiit the most, I think it's because I have to repeat it all :) Couch to 5K is just a program to get you off the couch and running a 5K in a few months. It's free online, it just tells you how much to run/walk in timed intervals for each day and it gradually builds you up to doing a 5K. It got me running :)

Cindy

Just wanted to show y'all my tshirt I got for a 5 k my sisters idea, I was gonna drop out cause I am so depressed but I know ryan would want me to keep going. He was proud I was jogging so I am going to dedicate my run to him.

Been having rainstorms and busy cleaning and forgot to post. Yesterday was GS chest and Triceps and cleanmax. LOL Today I got started unusually early and did Cardio Leg Blast OUWIE! But it's all good. Working hard at challenging leg exercises are so wonderful! Suppose to be rainy all day today and a big storm tomorrow.

Kathy sis, Glad to hear you are still doing PT sessions but also sorry your arm is hurting. Glad it's feeling better today. Enjoy Xtrain's legs or the barre. Love feral cats too. So nice to see other people enjoying animals especially ones that are in need of our help. The mother feral knows by instinct who she can trust. You have animal magnetism. So rare for a fetal cat to let you pick her up and kiss her. Lucky you. How is the shelter coming along? When I visit Westport I saw a shelter I think for feral cats. It was a wooden box with food and water in it. Such a great idea for the Summer.

Cindy, Great job on 30/30 last night. Nice to hear Lucas is better. Hoping you have a restful sleep. Enjoy your BBQ, sounds like so much fun.

Renee, Love the T shirt for the 5 k. I love the instinct you have that Ryan would want you to to this and to keep going. Very proud of you dedicating the run to him and very proud of you trying hard to keep moving in life. Take care sweetie my prayers are with you always.

Take care ladies,

Janie

I took last night off since Brodie met up with a friend and Lily got a movie night so it was late to bed. I did go out for a walk/jog with Lily this morning. She did well but I would run ahead then run back to her just to get a decent run in. We're ready for the BBQ and just waiting for people now, I think this is our last warm day for the year so it's perfect for a BBQ. Should be fun and I'm looking forward to having a glass of wine or two ;)

Renee - I'm so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine the heartache you are enduring. Running with an angel behind you is good motivation, he will be smiling the whole time you're out there. That shirt is wonderful.

Janie - We've been having so much rain lately it's been crazy, even the uncommon lightning storms in the morning. Glad you got your cleaning done, that always puts me in such a great mood.

Hi Ladies!

Yesterday I felt really good. I did Kelly Coffey-Myer's Circuit Burn the combined workouts premix which is 60 min. Felt good afterwards. DH & I went to the movies & saw Insidious 2. Very cool the way the writers combined 1 & 2 into one movie. You ladies will have to see this one if you haven't already. I love scary movies.

Today I'll be doing Amy Bento Ross's Body Box. This is one masterpiece. Amy's the Queen of choreo. The music rocks in this one too.

Cindy: Hope you enjoyed your BBQ. Thx for letting me know where to find the couch to 5K. I'll check it out. No promises I'll do it as I can't stand to run. Glad you got a good night's sleep too.

Janie: The murre bird is beautiful & it didn't even peck at you while holding it. Amazing. I have to get in touch w/the woman that trapped my feral cats to find out about the shelter. I have a feeling that the mother cat, which I've gone and named Baby LOL, will be staying indoors during the winter. She'll just leave her babies outside. Your doing so well w/your workouts. Are you able to lift heavy again? I'd settle for lifting anything at this point.

Renee: I can't imagine what your going through. Just know that all of us cyber buddies will be w/you in spirit during your run.

TTYT,
Kathy

Was stormy all day today with sheets of rain coming down. It even turned sunny out and decided to walk the beach with Rolly. Plants and seaweed all over the place. As we were coming home decided to take a route closer inland.

I literally found a secret trail not obvious at all. Well, the curiosity took hold of me and in we went to investigate. It reminded me of the rain forest further N. of us. Trees were full of moss. The trail was full of tree roots and sometimes hard to keep walking without almost tripping. Someone put a lot of work in the trail because as we continued further, there were several wooden bridges to cross. Very slippery with tennis shoes on, but I had to find out where it came out. So we kept going. I felt maybe we should turn back, but I went this far I might as well continue on.

After going for about 1 mile Rolly and I saw houses in front of us, but I still couldn't tell where we were. There was a little path connected to the trail going left, but didn't want to lose my way, so we kept going on the trail into someone's yard. They weren't home, it looked like it was abandoned, but once I got in the front yard I knew where we were.

It was so thrilling to find something like this. I think it belongs to the development for the neighborhood here. How Lucky They Are! Next time I'll see where the little path leads. It may lead out of the trail without having to go through someone's property.

As soon as I reached home it poured sheets of rain again. Was so lucky not to get caught in something like that. Whew! The storm continues even tonight off and on.

Cindy, Sometime we just can't workout when we want to. Great job on the walk/jog with Lily this morning. How did the BBQ go? I bet it was fun. Hope you enjoyed the last BBQ of the Summer.

Kathy sis, Can't lift heavy yet, but will start doing that around Christmas time. Just want to have a solid foundation first and get the little muscles ready to lift heavier weight. I love how you love your animals too. Great job on yesterday's Kelly's Circuit Burn, combined workouts premix. I'm looking forward to seeing Insidious 2. I love scary movies too. OOOOOOOO Also, Great job on today's Amy's Body Box. Sounds like an awesome workout.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Janie Sis: What a cool trail you found. I would have to head all the way up north from where I live to see any of those kind of trails. I don't think I would like to live w/those kinds of woods right behind my house though. The NYer in me says danger. I would always think someone's lurking watching me. LOL I hope the weather improves soon.

I did the entire workout to Body Box all 4 combos & intervals. This is truly the best she's ever done. Its a masterpiece. She's far more controlled & explained the move slowly beforehand. The moves were more defensive & she introduced a "cut" kick. But I'm used to her choreo & pick it up quite easily. Except for her step. For the life of me I can't get the choreo. I had to improvise on 2 of the intervals due to my arm. I just used 2 of Cathe's intervals.

Tonight's my PT session. No workout. Tomorrow I'll be doing Afterburn. I think I'll stick w/circuits for a while as lifting heavy w/one arm I have a feeling I'll hurt my back due to the imbalance.

Glad you'll be lifting heavy again & playing it smart. Did you see the infomercial to P90X3? It will be coming out Dec. 10th. It looks like a cross between P90X & P90X2. I never purchased P90X2 b/c it looked way out there on some of the moves. You should check it out. There's 20 workouts & all of them are 30 min. or less.

Cindy: How did the BBQ go?

Take care ladies!
Kathy

We had a great BBQ and a lot of people showed up. My kids were in full spaz out mode but everyone had a good time. I enjoyed every salad that was brought and definitely cheated but I kept the wine consumption low so hopefully I can bounce back quickly. Sunday we had soccer games and Lily finally didn't cry and had a great time. She was running those little legs all over the field and wore herself out, I was so proud of her. She earned her Monster High doll and slept with it last night. I wrapped up the weekend with Tabatacise 1-2 + Burn Set Back and it felt great. Tonight I'm going to do Afterburn since I've been thinking about it for a few days now. I'm also trying a new stuffed squash recipe, I hope it's good and that the family enjoys it.

Kathy - I am not built to be a runner (I'm more of the carry heavy loads & pop out babies body type) but the Couch to 5K actually got me to where I enjoyed it. I don't ever plan to run more than a 5K though and most of my runs are shorter. Ooo I would love 30 min P90X options, that was one thing that killed me with P90X it got to be so long and I didn't always have time for it so I'd get grumpy!

Janie - How fun to discover a new trail, you'll have to let us know if the side trail lets you access it without having to go through someone's yard.

Cindy
