Getting Our Licks In!

9-9-13

Afternoon Ladies!

Yesterday I did 4DS chest/back + Kelly Coffey Myers' stepboxing w/out #2 + Core #2. Tonight will be Turbo Barre the first premix that's 52 min. That's long enough for me for barre.

Cindy: You did have a pleasant & busy weekend. Glad that Lucas is back to sleeping normally & the kids enjoyed their soccer games. The more times Lily plays the more comfortable she'll feel & before you know it she'll be running all over the field. I've never done a Bob Harper strength workout before. Which one did you do? Good luck on the Advocare cleanse. Let us know how you make out with it.

Janie: I sent my condolences to Renee. Such tragic news my heart went out to her. Thx for letting all of us know. Did you do Pure Strength? I wish I could do those but will soon enough.

Michelle: Your legs are certainly going to be talking to you with all those leg workouts. PS Legs & Abs is such a hard workout in its entirety especially the body bar work. I remember I had serious DOMS from that one.

TTYT,
Kathy

It was an iffy day for walking for Rolly and me, and threatened rain. I had to see the ocean anyway. We spent about a lazy half hr. out there. Did Pure Strength Strong Legs and Abs. Wasn't pretty even modifying, but it got done.

Michelle, Great job walking with Ripken and doing Pure Strength Legs and Abs. My legs feels like noodles right now!

Cindy, Yea, you are getting some sleep. Isn't it wonderful to have all your chores done, Clean and sparkly? OOOOOOO, my first taste of smores is when the Staffords were here. OH MY! And I do love fishing. Sounds you had a fantastic weekend. Aw Lily is still very young. Glad Brodie did well. Great job on Bob Harper strength workout with your new shoes. Never heard of Advocare 24 day challenge. Will look it up. I do love the lean meat and veggies and a little oatmeal. mmmm.

Kathy Sis, (hope I'm not overdoing it) Great job on 4DS chest, back and Kelly Coffey Myer's Stepboxing with out #2 + Core #2. Wow. Enjoy tonight's workout.

Morning!

Last night was Turbo Barre that first premix that's 52 min. Oh my! I was going along pretty well until that last segment when your keeping your leg bent raised up but you have to press your supporting leg down so many times while your arms are straight out holding onto the back end of the chair. I thought I was going to cry it was that bad with that lactic acid buildup. Had to take a very brief break & then get back at it. That workout was enough for me. Whew!

Tonight I plan on doing Cross Fire the fitness blast section & then going into 4DS shoulders + Core #1.

Michelle: Did you have another nice walk w/Ripken or is it raining by you like it is here in NY. What PS workout was on the agenda for today? Or is it cardio? I should look it up. You inspired me to do 4DS which was always one of my favorites.

Cindy: Did you start the Advocare cleanse yet? My girlfriend who lost 30# recently was fasting 1x a week. She only drank a protein shake, water, tea & that was it for the day. She had plateaued & wanted to get the weight loss moving again. Have you also considered fasting? Does Lily have cheerleading practice today? Are both of your children in school? Can't remember.

Janie Sis: Glad you had such a fun time w/the Staffords. It does feel good though getting back home & into your usual routine. Good job on Legs & Abs. That one certainly is tough. I have PS on VHS. The tapes probably don't even work anymore. I'm not overdoing it. Don't worry. I'm careful not using any weights on my left arm nor any planks or pushups. I'm wearing a brace which has helped tremendously. Plus stretching the arm as much as I can.

My son has started his senior year of college. Can't believe that his college years have flown by so fast. Then he'll be onto grad school. After his Bachelor degree he'll be going onto pharmacy school for his PharmD.

DH has a 2nd interview today at 4:00. Wish him luck ladies. Its for much better pay & better benefits. I'm praying for him.

TTYL,
Kathy

Yesterday was my first day of the 24 day challenge and it wasn't too bad, no hunger except for right before dinner which was normal. We all took a walk tot he school so the kids could play for a bit and I did 35 min of KickMax. It kicked my butt so I could tell I am really behind from where I was before getting pregnant. I have major doms in my arms and legs so tonight I plan to get some yoga in. Love the burn.

Kathy - Great job pushing through turbo barre! Prayers and luck out to your DH for his interview :) I have been fasting 1-2 times a week for about 6 weeks and I really like it, never thought I would say that :) Lily does have cheer and she was pumped to get her cheer gear together last night, wanted to wear it to school today! Lily is in Kindergarten and Brodie is in 2nd grade, I feel like they'll be in college before I know it - times goes too quickly! I have the Bob Harper Skinny Rules DVD's so it's like a cross train workout, I did WOD#2 and it was more of a killer than I expected.

Janie - I think the hardest part for me will be cutting out sugars and carbs and I've been limiting them for a few weeks so that should help on this journey. Glad you got a walk in - we had clouds threatening on our walk too but thankfully they didn't rain on us.

Happy Tuesday everyone. The heat and humidity are back in Virginia for a few days, so Ripken's walks are a little slower and we have to take a rest break, but my sweet pup perseveres. Did cardio today--just the step premix from cardio and weights. My legs felt fine yesterday but the noodle factor hit this morning about the first 10 minutes of step, then they got better.

Kathy: no rain here although we could use a little. I didnt' realize it was raining up your way. Your son is in his senior year of college: what a great year. Sounds like he has a plan for what he wants to do next--he must be great in the sciences if he is planning on going on to a PharmD program. Does he go to college in NY state or out of state? Nice job on the workouts: I like the way that you mix different workouts together. Do you use Cathe's workout blender software or just switch between the dvds? Sounds like you were doing Cathe's turbobarre and I know exactly which move you are talking about where you press down with your leg out behind you. THOSE are killers for me too. So how are your legs feeling today?

Cindy: yoga sounds wonderful. I wish I could find a good 20 minute yoga routine that is good to do before going to be. I should check Shiva Rea--I think she might have one. KickMax is a deceptive workout--you think: this will be easy and then you realize that it is kicking you in the butt. I tend to do the workout without the blasts at the end--those are always a challenge.

Janie: did you cycle max, ride, or cardio today? Obviously, I opted for cardio. I'm not sure how my legs would have responded to a cycle max or ride workout.

Hope everyone has a great evening.
Michelle

Road the tricycle today and got more sand about 3 times. It took a good 45-50 min. to do going up hill on the way home. Then Rolly and I walked on the beach and goofed off for 45 min.

I got some kind of a bug bite on my right ankle yesterday and felt it all during the night. Tonight it's starting to swell, so but cortisone cream on it and some ice in hopes it helps.

Kathy sis, Bet you are a very proud mom of a senior student from college. Our daughter is a pharmacist. Congratulation for the hard work your son put in at college. Great job on Turbo Barre first prm. I know what you are talking about on the last segment. It's hard and not for wimps. Good job. Wishing luck on your hubby's second interview. Prayers your way. Enjoy your workout tonight.

Cindy, Good job on your first day of the 24 day food challenge. Great job on the walk and the 35 min. of KickMax. Don't worry about being a little behind, you will catch up soon enough. Slow and easy, remember that. Congratulations on the DOM's. Enjoy your yoga tonight.

Michelle, Opted for my own tricycle ride today and worked at the same time bringing home sand from the beach 3 times going up a hill. Yes!

Sorry about the darn humidity. Great job on Ripkens and your walk today. Also the Step Premix from cardio and weights. I hear ya on the noodle feeling. Glad it works itself out. LOL

Take care ladies,

Janie

HEY AGAIN! So sorry to be popping in and out I am trying to get into a rhythm again. Just settling into the girls routine and my new routine and as always fall is a very busy time of year for me.

I did STS Chest Shoulders and Biceps Yesterday Week 1 Meso Cycle 1
and STS Back and Triceps Week 1 Meso Cycle 1 today

I am down to teaching only 2 classes at the Rec Center in the mountains due to the commute and I can tell you my body is missing those extra 4 classes a week!! UGH! Oh well I can only move forward right??

Morning Ladies!

Sad day today. Don't like to think & try not to remember that day as I was down there when everything happened.

Last night was 4DS warmup to LIS (forgot all about this fun warmup) + 4DS shoulders + Susan Chung's Rapid Fire 3 abs. Susan's ab work is hard. Tonight I have my PT session so no workout. I'll be too sore & will get home too late to do a workout. DH's interview went well. They grilled him for an hour & a half. They'll make their decision next week. Thx ladies for your well wishes.

Janie Sis: Your legs have got to be talking to you today with trying to bike on all that sand. Not easy. Glad you enjoyed the walk on the beach w/Rolly. What are you doing today? Your daughter is a pharmacist? Yes I'm definitely a proud mom. DS has a 3.81 GPA. He loves the sciences. He could spend all day in a lab. He originally went to Univ. of MN for 2 years but couldn't take the cold. He now attends Mercy College in Manhattan. He's thinking of going onto Univ. of MA, Univ. of RI or Chapel Hill, NC. How many years is your daughter a pharmacist? Are those bug bites better today?

Cindy: I'm glad you did fine on Advocare. I too have a sugar craving & it doesn't help that my co-worker keeps a candy dish right smack in front of me. Kick Max is hard especially those high impact drills at the end. I remember Cathe's choreo on that one. Like Janie said don't worry. You'll catch up in no time. For some reason I had thought Lily was older than Brodie but its the other way around. I heard that Bob Harper's workouts are not a walk in the park. I heard of that one Skinny Rules. I'll have to check it out over on Collage Video.

Michelle: Our humidity is back 92 today. Ugh! I always liked Cardio & Weights but mine is on VHS. It probably doesn't work anymore. If your interested in shorter yoga routines I think I have one from Rodney Yee. It might be the stress relief one. I'll check tonight & write back which one it is. You & Janie must be doing a PS strength workout today?

Waves to Ladubose!

Have a good ladies!
Kathy

Good afternoon to everyone. My sweet pup is hanging in with the heat and humidity; we walked before the sun came up so he did okay. Just had one brief rest. And by the time we walk at night these days, the sun is well on its way down on the horizon, so that is a blessing for us and makes it a little easier on my senior pup. Today was Pure Strength Back and Biceps. Challenged myself to go heavy and made it through--killer abs on this workout.

KathyH: yes, it is a bit of a somber day. You were at/near the twin towers? How horrible. My office is a couple of miles from the Pentagon--we felt the ground shock when it was hit. Hope our country never has another day like that. On a more positive note: University of Minnesota is an excellent school; your son must be quite the student. But I hear ya on the cold--I do not think I would like Minnesota in the winter either. If he ends up at Chapel Hill, he will find winters to be quite mild. We'll keep the positive energy going for your DH and this job opportunity.

Janie: peddling a bike/trike on wet sand should give your legs a good workout. Ugh. I hope you are not having an allergic reaction to whatever critter bit you.

Laura: so happy to hear from you. Have you gone back to school? Just wondering. Doing STS is a good way to get back into exercising regularly. Good for you!

Hi to Cindy--hope your week is going smoothly so far.

My DOMS are intense, they were waking me up last night when I'd move my arms :) The yoga last night helped and I stretched extra, tonight will be off since my wine club is getting together for a tasting and dinner - should be fun and I'm in need of some girl time. The wine is not part of the 24 day challenge but I already had this scheduled and I'm only going to have what they give for the tasting then move to water. It will be my only cheat during the challenge.

I woke up feeling a little hungover this morning so I think it's from the cleanse - probably a good sign but not fun first thing in my day.

Michelle - It's nice you can get out during times that aren't so intense with heat and humidity, I really love the calmness of dusk. One yoga practice I really love is one I recorded from FitTV years ago. It's Namaste Yoga, check out Namaste Yoga | Namaste Hatha Yoga Practice by Kate Potter, DVDs, Videos, Learning Materials They are 20 min workouts and hit different areas.

Janie - How's your bug bite doing? I hope the cream and ice helped. Great job getting all that activity in, it's hard work walking on sand.

ladubose - The fall is insane with everything picking back up so just keep doing your best :)

Kathy - So glad the interview went well, hopefully you'll get some good news next week. All those images sure bring the memories back, it's good to not forget and it's been interesting explaining it to the kids in a way they can understand. Brodie is 7, Lily is 5, and Lucas is 11 months - my life is mayhem but I wouldn't change it :)

Cindy

Yesterday's workout was Pure Strength Series Biceps and Abs and just now finished today's workout on the mountain climber for 30 min. Haven't used this contraption for a very long time. Feels good too.

Laura, Always nice to see you around. New routines soon will be everyday routines. Great job on STS Chest Shoulders and Biceps yesterday and today's WK 1 Meso Cycle 1 and STS Back and Triceps Week 1 Meso Cycle 1. I'm sorry to see you are not teaching more classes. Yep, you can only move forward. Very proud of you. I know it's not easy but you are strong. Right?

Sad day today. Don't like to think & try not to remember that day as I was down there when everything happened.

Kathy sis, Great job on 4DS warmup to LIS and shoulders and also Susan Chung's Rapid Fire 3 abs. Good for you for doing a hard abs. Continued prayers for hubby to get the job. We have 5 successful kids. One is an emergency doctor, a environmental engineer, pharmacist, advertising, and self employed financial adviser. So very proud of them all. I'm trying another approach on the bug bite. I went on line and found an herbalist to use 2 prt. soda and 1 part salt (using Himalayan salt). It immediately stopped the itching. Lets hope it will heal in a few days. Your son being a 3.81 GPA is fantastic. We need a person like him in Science.

Michelle, Great job on the walk with sweet pup Ripken. Great job on Pure Strength Back and Biceps. Way to go. I hear ya about the killer abs. Yowzie!

Cindy, Congrats on your DOMs. Yep stretches help out with that. You have to do what you have to do in the name of schedules. LOL Did you have fun?

Take care ladies,

Janie

Hello Ladies!

PT session last night was another brutal session but got through it. Hard to sleep & today the arm is hurting. If it still hurts bad I'll have to take a rest day. Planning on doing 4DS bis/tris no cardio. I'll have to just use the 1 db instead of the bb like Cathe & crew.

Cindy: Yoga & stretching always works w/those intense DOMS. Thx for the link to the Namaste Yoga. I'm always on the lookout for short yoga practices to tack onto the end of a workout. I know you had fun at that wine tasting hence being hung over. LOL You sure do have a busy schedule. As Tony Horton says do your best & forget the rest.

Janie Sis: Thx for your prayers for DH. The headhunter spoke to DH & the feedback was that they were impressed w/him. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thx also on your compliment to my DS. Wow your kids are very successful. You can certainly be proud of all 5 of them. Glad that the itching stopped finally w/those bug bites. You'll have to tell me what a mountain climber is. I have no idea. I know of a versaclimber, treadmill, elliptical, etc. but no mountain climber except for the exercise.

Michelle: Your almost finished with PS week. Was it cardio today? I do enjoy mixing & matching different workouts but the real Queen of M&M is Diane Sue. DS is in the Hardcore checkin section. Our heat & humidity has left. We're expected thunder storms today. Hopefully it won't be too bad for my commute home. Enjoy your walk w/Ripken.

I had a good time with my friends last night at the wine tasting. We then stopped at a sushi place for dinner and I split some rolls and lettuce wraps with a friend. It was the perfect amount. I didn't get a good night sleep, was up later than normal due to having to get a load of diapers washed and then Lucas was up at 4:40 and I haven't been to sleep since. Tonight I am going to do the express Athletic Training and then work on cleaning the house a bit. I can't believe it's Thursday already but I sure am happy about it.

Janie - I love when I do something that I haven't for awhile and it feels great. I think I've been slacking on my abs but tonight's workout will help with that.

Kathy - Sorry you're in so much pain after the PT session, hopefully it gets better soon.

Cindy

Quick check in: hardstrikes cardio only premix yesterday and Pure Strength chest, shoulders, and triceps today. I've got a lengthy 2 volume document going to the Department of Defense today, so I've got to get back to the last minute stuff with that.

Michelle

On rotation today was Pure Strength Series Chest Shoulders and Triceps. Love this. Also Rolly and I went for a walk on the beach for 45 min.
My mountain climber is called an Alpine Climber. It's like stepping up all the time like you are going up hill. It makes for a great sweat. I truly love this machine.

Kathy sis, I do know what you are going through with the tennis elbow, it's tough. (hugs) Enjoy doing 4DS bis and tris. Keeping fingers crossed for hubby to get job.

Cindy, Aw glad to see you having fun with friends. Wonder if you might have eaten too late at night for a restless sleep? Enjoy Athletic Training. Seems housework never gets done.LOL

Michelle, Great job on HS cardio only premix yesterday and PS chest, shoulders and triceps today. Yea, we are really going to town! Last min. stuff does need attention. Hope you get every thing done.

Take care everyone,

Janie

:eek:I just Finished STS Legs, Meso Cycle 1 Week 1,:p That is a tough one and she keeps quite a good pace through out with only 25 second rests for the entire workout! I managed to get through it without any pauses although my weights are still down from my last rotation. Me and the girls are going to go for a jog later today because the sun is finally out!!

The flooding has been very very intense but luckily we have been fine down here at my moms. She is out of the country so I am glad I was here to look after the place.

The divorce continues to go slowly and difficulty and I can't wait to be through the legal process!!!:(

Janie: is that your workout room? It looks so lovely and bright! I love PS

Cindy: Hi! You sound like my kinda gal! Wine tasting's and sushi is right up my alley!

Kathy: oh Tennis Elbow is awful! I had it a few years back when I started lifting to heavy to quickly. I had remarkable success with acupuncture it took about 6 sessions before it went away but has never bothered my since

Michelle: Good luck on your document today! give Ripken a big hug from me glad to hear he is still his puppy self!

Hi everyone!

I did Step Moves today and Yoga Inspired Abs, I had forgotten how much fun step can be! I picked up the moves pretty quickly which was really nice since it has been so long since I had done a step routine, like maybe close to a year!!!???:confused::(

The sun came out today and we got out of the house. We saw the helicopters coming in on the Boulder Airport as we drive by it to get to town. It was quite the sight! Evidence of flooding everywhere but the waters have receded quickly. Floods are like tornados in that their destructive paths are so specific. You can have one house completely ravaged and the one right next to untouched. Sending love and prayers all around!

Morning Ladies!

I've been MIA for a few days. Fri. my arm was hurting me far too much & decided to just rest. Yesterday (Sat.) it felt terrific for the 1st time in a long time. Sat. I did Gym Style Back/Shoulders/Biceps the Timesaver premix. I had to leave off the resistance band parts & just did a 2nd set of the dumbbell exercise instead. Today (Sun.) will be IMAX3 Intervals 1-6 premix + one of the ab workouts from Ab Circuits.

Did any of you view the clips? OMG I'm so excited for these. Can't wait to try them. What did you think?

Ladubose: My town of Oceanside, NY knows all about destruction from water due to Sandy. I feel for everyone in Boulder. My prayers are w/them. And poor New Jersey with the fire that once more totally destroyed all homes & businesses on the Jersey Shore. I fear Jersey Shore will never be able to recover this time around. I'm so sorry your having such a difficult divorce. How are your children doing? Step Moves I never could master. Great job on that one & I'm amazed you conquered it after not doing step for one year! STS M1 Legs too is tough. All of Meso1 is tough. I had thought of acupuncture for my arm. I'll look into this & see if my insurance will accept it. Thx for letting me know about acupuncture.

Cindy: Your my kinda gal too but only w/the wine. LOL Not so much on the sushi. More power to you for washing those diapers. You wouldn't catch me doing that. LOL

Michelle: You must be having much more comfortable walks w/Ripken. Its quite cool up my way. I wish I could do Pure Strength. I'm w/you & Janie in spirit. Did you finally get through the volumes at work?

Janie: How are you doing on PS? Are you lifting heavy weights again? If so that gives me encouragement.

Went out last night w/DH for a few drinks. He got the job but has to iron out some details before he starts. He probably will start Oct. 1st. Thx for all your prayers. They worked!

Off to do my workouts. Have a great day!

Kathy

Can't believe I didn't post yesterday! I did IMAX2 and today's rest. Yes! Feeling confident once again. Today I might get done with yet another doodle art. If so will post later. Woke up to thunder wow! That doesn't happen here usually. Now the misty rain is here and the fog is rolling in.

Laura, Great job finishing STS legs, Meso Cycle 1 Wk 1. Sounds tough! No pauses is a good sign to move on to heavier weight. You don't really want to finish a workout too many times. LOL Good for you! Enjoy the job with the girls. Where did your mom go? Someplace exciting I hope. Hope the flood eases off for you guys. Hugs to you with the difficulty of the divorce. It's going to be OK, just hang in there. Yes, it's my workout room/family room/dinner room/gaming room. LOL It's what we call our very small beach house in a small single wide motor home(with a tip out). But only a 10 min. walk from the beach. It's heaven to me and Joey. Great job doing Step Moves and Yoga Inspired Abs. I do love steps too! The dancer the better LOL. Well, is it any wonder, from what you are going through that step isn't the first thing on your mind lately? You are doing remarkably well and I'm so proud of you. So so relieved the flooding is receding. Hugs to everyone there having to go through this. It must be so scary at times.

Kathy sis, Oh the memories of Tennis Elbow! It will get better then it will hurt then better, then it will hurt. Just the nature of the injury. Be carefull not ti re-injure it. Great job Sat. doing Gym Style Back/Shoulders and Biceps the timesaver premix. Glad to see you are modifying. There is nothing wrong in that. And for today's IMAX3 Intervals 1-6 premix and the ab workout from Ab Circuits. OMG! I didn't know there were clips! You know where I'm going once I'm done posting. WooHoo! I'm trying hard to get to that point and feel confident that it won't take too much time. I think after this rotatation and playing around with the new workouts and maybe even a rotation with the new workouts, that I will begin the "Body Building Rotation" Cathe did for me. I can't wait. However I'm taking it nice and easy. I don't want to rush this time and take in the experience of having my body change right in front of my eyes. LOL Aww, I'm so glad your hubby got the job!

Take care special ladies,

Janie

Good morning--barely. We are into a taste of fall weather and Ripken is really enjoying our walks. A bit of tension here in the DC area today with the lock-down at the Navy Yard. I hope they can get the person who is running around shooting people down there. It's just terrible. Took a break Saturday, did IMAX2 yesterday and started Gym Style week with GS Legs this morning. Going to see if I can get my boss back into working out again this week. I've got my gear with me at work today.

Kathy: it sounds like you needed a good day of rest for your tennis elbow. I'm happy to hear that it is feeling better.

Cindy: thanks for the yoga recommendation. I've written down the website to check out this evening. Hope things settle down for you a bit this week but I'm wondering if that is really possible when you have young children?

Janie: From the picture that you posted, it looks like you are back home. Is that correct? Looking forward to those drop set pushups later this week, how about you?

Laura: hang in there with the divorce--yes, it seems like the legal system likes to drag things out. I have a friend here at work who has been separated from her husband for over 4 years and they still are not divorced--can you believe it? I think the lawyers are to blame on that one though--seems like they enjoy dragging things out and creating billable hours. Crazy. It's great you've gotten through the first week of STS meso 1. Don't worry about how much you are lifting but concentrate on the fact that YOU ARE. I'm happy to hear that you have not been affected by the flooding--I was a bit worried about that. (((HUGS)))) to you.
