Just for fun -- The Worst Songs Ever

Oh Bobbi--you should really try a good tough leg workout to AC/DC--they get you rockin! Pixie, My Sharona was the Knack & how dare you smack my Knack. OK, how did we miss these: --Short People by Randy Newman --Kumbaya--whoever wrote that song should be strung up by their gonads &...

On being "Long & Lean" vs "Bulky"

RE: On being Thanks for posting this honeybunch--I've been telling people this for years & they just won't pay attention. This might sound a little harsh, but whenever I hear a woman in the gym say "oh I don't want to lift too heavy b/c I'll get bulky," all I can think is "man could you...

    strength or cardio 1st?

I always do cardio first. In my (potentially flawed) logic, this is b/c I get my heart rate up & then when I'm weight training I can still keep it up to some extent, thereby burning a little extra fat. Also I like to thoroughly warm up my muscles before I lift, which cardio definitely helps...

is a half hour of cardio enough?

It's enough for weight loss if you do it at least 5 times a week. I make sure I do a minimum of 30 minutes at least 4 times a week, usually closer to 40-45 minutes, 6 times a week. I would not recommend doing less than 30 minutes though. Otherwise you're just wasting your time.

Rhythmic Step - my new favorite step video!

Laura I am so totally with you--it literally took me like 2 years to get all the choreography down, but now that I know it I am addicted! I do this workout once every week or two now, it's so much fun!

I want my abs to be on fire

On Sunday I did sections 2 & 3 of Core Max, then the whole Rael 27 pilates DVD. Man was I sore! In fact it's Wednesday & I'm still a little sore. I love pilates. :)

    When a guy whistles....

I love it. I love that I'm 37 years old & have men honking & whistling at me when I walk down the street. Of course I don't respond or anything--the one or two times I did the poor guys just didn't know what to do--they were like oh ####, what did I get myself into? :7 Funny how men have...

    Powermax

You know Kathryn (sorry to hijack this thread LOL), I've found the kickboxing workouts to be really tough on my knees. Not so much the conditioning drills, but I think things like the jumping side kicks & the like put some seriously major stress on my knees. Anyway, back to the original...

    O/T>Dress for a Wedding.....

Black is the new black. :7 Seriously, if you want my advice I need more info. Is it an afternoon or evening affair? Do you know what color the bridesmaids' dresses are? What kind of tuxes are the grooms wearing? What kind of place is the reception being held? Is it rubber chicken or...

    Does anyone ever just stop?

All the time! For me it's usually for one of two reasons: 1)I'm out of time & late for work. 2)I'm just plain bored. #1 is really not a big deal for me--as long as I get a solid 30 minutes of cardio before work I figure I'm doing OK. #2 happens with workouts like Step Blast & Step...

    Fraxel laser treatment

Yeah psoriasis is a weird thing--when I first got it I was 14 & I was literally covered from head to toe--so badly my dr. actually gave me a note to get out of gym class so I wouldn't have to change in front of the other girls. I mean, being 14 is hard enough without having to deal with...

    Why I LOVE interval training....

I don't feel that I'm in the lower part of my target heart rate (although I don't measure it). Just the opposite in fact--I feel that I'm in the upper part of my heart rate for a longer amount of time, since you don't get the breaks & lower your heart rate between intervals in the IMAXs.

    Fraxel laser treatment

It is from both. Unfortunately I don't have a choice when it comes to UV exposure--I have psoriasis & it's pretty much the only cure. I have the option of either being covered head to toe with red, scaly patches, or having relatively clear skin. It's a trade off & I'm sure you can guess what...

    Fraxel laser treatment

OK I think I'm gonna get this. I was looking at laser resurfacing around my mouth (serious smokers lines even though I quit 2 years ago--guess the damage is done). I did a little research & was really, really amazed at the results, which are permanent, unlike botox which only lasts a few...

    SNM--defective DVD question

Hi there--I've owned IMAX3 pretty much since the day it was released, but it's always locked on interval 8. (I have no idea what intervals 8 & 9 are! :-( ). In any case, I'd had some similar problems with other DVDs but after cleaning the player they're all working fine except I still can't...

    Why I LOVE interval training....

Personally I'm not crazy about interval training. My limited understanding is that it works better for low fat diets than low carb. I'm on low carb & I see much better results with straight aerobic workouts rather than anaerobic. I do some form of cardio 5-6 days a week, usually 2 of them...
