When a guy whistles....

When a guy whistles, makes a comment, looks at you, etc., how do you ladies react!? And does your reaction change depending on they "way" that they look, etc.?

My reaction depends, in part, on my mood but I find that most often, I am most likely to laugh or smile. I do get annoyed when guys feel the need to actually embarass me with their comments, for example, as we pass on the street and they decide to comment on this or that part of my body or if they are crude about it.

I am curious what others think/do.

I tend to ignore it because I am shy and easily embarrassed so I find it easier not to respond at all...I have to admit it makes a girl feel good though!

I was out with DH somewhere recently and he watched a guy checkin' me out and then told me about it! Nice to know I still got it! ;)

:+ :+ :+ Thanks Cathe!:+ :+ :+

Morning All:

I don't like it when guys actually comment, that's totally rude and crude. But I must admit that I do feel pleased at a look or a quick whistle. I spent so many years feeling fat and ugly, I won't complain at a whistle. :)

Like Wendy I usually ignore it though I am smiling inside.

Well it if is not a crude or rude moment, I tend to burst out laughing especially if a guy is just staring at me. I can't help it. I will just burst out laughing if anyone is staring at me for that matter. If I had to go on stage for anything, in front of an audience, I would just laugh and get really embarrassed. LOL! Sometimes when our family goes out to a small diner where there is a population in town of 100 or less, people tend to stare and I end up laughing at them. Especially when it is dramatic and they all drop their forks and just stare as if the aliens have landed or something. Laughing at them tends to stop the staring after that. O.k., back to the topic....it does make me feel good when DD friends say that, "Your mom is hot", etc.

Ignore it for the most part.

I've also flashed my wedding bands before. I have two, one from the civil wedding, another from the church wedding. I wear them all the time.

When I was younger and new to this country and some guy would approach me at a club, I'd feign ignorance, wave my hands wildly while shaking my head and say, "No Eeeng-reesh, no Eng-rish!" Scared the heck out of them. Yeah, I have my crazy side.

Pinky:)

depends if there is a comment to accompany that whistle. usually they get a look of "don't you wish" back and usually the look"you're such a pig" after a dirty comment. sometimes i am annoyed no matter what b/c i don't workout to be eye candy for anybody and shouldn't be treated as such. there is a lot of factors to my reactions. i have gone off and slapped some in the face before but you can guess i wasn't in a good mood for crude comments.

LOL, Pinky! You crack me up, you crazy 666 girl!!

YEARS ago when my daughter was about 3, we were walking into Wal-Mart and some guys drove by in a car and yelled "Nice a$$!" I tracked one down in the store, got in his face, and b!tched him out for talking like that, especially with a child present. He apologized and slunk back in his hole.

I usually ignore them b/c if it isn't me that they are whistling at then I will feel like an idiot:)
When I am running outside and men wave or stop and stare it irritates me b/c there is no way I look good.Im sweaty and gross.
For the most part, I ignore anything that isn't words.I am just not sure how to react.Do you smile? Say thanks? Blow a kiss? I dunno:)

Ha ha, not so, Lori! I have recently learned that men, in fact, DO think that this is very sexy. I had this conversation the other day w/a male friend that explained to me that men *love* sweaty women. Meanwhile, when a guy approached me at the gym, all I can think is "uh, I stink!"

When I am running and someone honks, Lori, I usually burst out laughing because I know I look gross! I have mascara running down my cheeks and my hair is nasty. I think it is so funny that some men are such desperate perverts! :+

Most of the time, honestly, I roll my eyes and ignore it. My sister thinks that I am a b*tch when I should feel flattered, and my husband even feels proud (I wish he would get mad and want to hit someone), but I think it is so rude to just come up to some random girl in the grociery store, who has her kid in the cart by the way, and whistle or make lewd comments. Ugh. Like that would turn anyone on, anyways???

Missy

Missy,

I almost choked on a tortilla chip. LOL! LOL! LOL!:p :+ :p :+
That is so funny!!! I swear, I have to agree with ya on the sweaty and running mascara part. That has happened to me too numerous times when I am just yucky and someone is checking me out. Then there is TTOM...please don't try looking at me at all during that time or I will give a look that will cause instant death by eye contact!!!! LOL!

I agree, Missy. As if we exist just as eye candy for the guys, or as objects of the male gaze. And we should be thankful for any interest they show us. (Guess I'm a bitch, too!;-))

If somebody whistles (hasn't happened in a while) or makes a comment, I ignore them. I'm not here for their entertainment or viewing pleasure. And any man I would actually be interested in or find attractive WOULDN'T whistle or make comments at women like that...so why should I feel "flattered" by what some rude dude thinks of me?

Well had a guy slap me on the butt this past saturday night at an amusement park, thought it was hubby at first, then realized he wasn't there. The guy never said anything, and I didn't either, just let it go. I took it as a compliment. He was a younger guy in his 20's....

I love it. I love that I'm 37 years old & have men honking & whistling at me when I walk down the street.

Of course I don't respond or anything--the one or two times I did the poor guys just didn't know what to do--they were like oh ####, what did I get myself into? :7

Funny how men have so much courage when they're behind 2 tons of steel, but when you call them on it they turn into little girly men..........

ETA: how cool, our swear words turn up as number signs LOL

I'm creeped out by it (whistling and comments). I don't like it at all.

It used to happen to my mom too when I was little. I remember yelling at some guy when I was 6 yrs. old. I told him to quit whistling at my mother! Teehee! I was a tough little girl!

Now, when it happens to me, I remember yelling at the guys for my mom, and it creeps me out to this day.

IMO (just my personal opinion now) no offense! If a guy's going to do that to a total stranger, then he's a creep in my book. I don't want anything to do with a guy like that.

An innocent look or stare is different than some rude comments and whitles. JMHO.

BTW..good for you Angie! :)

Rhonda,
This happens to me but when I turn around it is DH and he is laughing b/c he thinks I am gonna turn around with my fist in the air. When it happens now I know it is him but one of these days it may not be and I will turn around with a smile on my face!:)
Lori:)

Timber, prehaps I think they think it is gross b/c DH keeps his distance when I am sweating. He thinks it is gross. You don't have to convince me that a man thinks its sexy. They probably think that we are goodlooking b/c we are out taking care of ourselves.
Men are perv's!:) BUt then again so were we will Wendy posted a picture of Uncle Lee:9
