I currently live in a house and am considering a move to an apartment/condo. Does this mean an end to my step aerobics at home? Does anyone live on the ground floor of an apartment/condo and get away with exercising at home?

I live in a third floor condo with wood floors. I just try to do my cardio during daylight hours so I don't annoy the downstairs neighbors (although they've never complained). There's no way I can wait until I own a house to do step! :)

I live in a house that's a two family home. Luckily we're on the bottom so I can chuck my weights and tuck jump myself silly :)

heck no i just moved into an apartment myself and still step, jump, and whatever else i need to get the job done. the only thing my neighbor asked is that i do it at a reasonable hour(i.e not at 9pm-6am).i think that is pretty fair, besides once viola is on the bus i go right into working out and she goes to her room which is towards the back so she never really hears me unless she is in her living room also. i don't think it matters where i live i will always do it.

I'm in a two-level apt on the ground floor. Bedroom, with my treadmill, is in the "basement." I have it on a shock absorber/floor protector pad and it seems to help with the noise. Plus, I run two fans when I use it, so that covers the rest of the noise.

I do weight workouts and step workouts on the first floor--all wood, recently ditched the rug. No complaints from the neighbors. I use the treadmill at 6 a.m.

I had a horrible apartment issue. I lived on the top floor and my downstairs neighbors were so mean about my exercising. I felt guilty at first because I know I was probably causing a ton of noise for them, and even though I tried to keep my exercising during reasonable hours (during the day, never too early or late) they were always mean about it. Thankfully, I bought a condo on the ground floor and can now plio jump until my heart's content :)

My tip, just talk to your downstairs neighbors about it. By the time my neighbors and I got around to talking, they were already mad and not willing to budge on anything...

I used to share a 2nd floor apartment with my friend and we both worked out. The guy who lived below us yelled at us but we didn't care because we heard him & his girlfriend screem at eachother all the time, so we did it anyway.
