Taking it to the Max-- June 2013 thru...

Happy Saturday!
Melissa, sorry that you're in such a funk...but that's why it's good to have the group, so we can encourage one another when we hit a slump. Which we all inevitably do. Hope the next few busy days go smoothly for you. I'll miss your daily check-ins.

Just finished ART upper body and am off to my sister's house for a family get together. :D

Take care,
Eva

hi girls! so tired today! the concert ran late last night and I ended up staying up until almost midnight. then woke around 3:30 and could not fall asleep again-- too much thinking about the craziness of this weekend and trying to have the house ready for nygel's party tomorrow. I had clients at the studio this morning and then stopped at whole foods to get stuff for lunches next week (we always pack them the night before-- nothing healthy down at the u of m, in my opinion). anyway, came back and now have to get ready to head out the door again for another concert. this one the kids are not performing in, so we can at least relax, but still another night out. will get up and workout tomorrow and then try to clean some before the faculty concert in the afternoon-- will pick up the cakes from the co-op and then people are coming at 6:30. busy, busy days, but at least I made some good tips today;).

I know Melissa and renee saw this on facebook, but a friend shot nygel's trio last night and here is a link. it is filmed sideways, but you still can hear them, at least:):Mozart piano trio - YouTube

Melissa-- sorry you are in a slump-- they happen to everyone, I think, so don't be too hard on yourself! maybe your body just needed a break for a little while? I think you will get back on track soon-- I know it is especially hard when the kids are home and there is stuff to do with them. staying on track is definitely a challenge. did you preorder the new cathe dvds? maybe that will get you excited to sweat again:). this humidity is truly awful, isn't it? today the sun is thankfully not out, as the air is super heavy and still. blech. it's supposed to be nice again on Monday-- figures everyone will be here tomorrow for a muggy sweatfest!:p

eva, renee and ladylep-- great job on HS! smart minds think alike, I guess!

renee-- glad you are seeing progress in your stamina! that is fantastic!

eva-- congrats on the results with the ART workouts! have fun at your sister's tonight!

ladylep-- congrats to you as well on the weightloss and on getting your workouts in! hope you had fun at the pool.

a pool sounds like an amazing idea right now, but we will at least be sitting in a/c. hoping that the concert doesn't run too, too late tonight. I could really use a good night of sleep and an early bedtime.

have a good night everyone! may not be able to check in tomorrow, but will try. I am planning on TTM or something along those lines for the morning.:)

Hi all- quick update here. I did cardio leg blast premix the one that only does rounds 7-12 and burn sets bis. I just didn't want to work out for almost 70 min today so 50 min. Maybe I'll do rounds 1-6 tomorrow or I'll take that rest day. Pool was fun yesterday, but I have a fever boy today. Hopefully the others won't get it. It's moving up from Little K, the youngest and today B, (6).

I will have a one child week next week if B gets well and if it doesn't run through the others as they have camp at church all day and my mom is keeping them overnight Monday through Friday! My anniversary is Wednesday and we hope to go out for a date and not spend more on the babysitter than on our date!

hi girls! so much to do, and not enough time! going to clean the house in a minute, but wanted to check in. decided on AT today since it is so, so muggy I did not want to attempt TTM. forgot how intense AT is, though, too! anyway, got a super sized sweat in and then did 27 minutes of shiva rea yoga for energy-- a mellow routine just to cool me down and also calm me down for all the running around today.

great job on the workout, ladylep! hope you and your husband get to have a nice night out for your anniversary!

hello to eva, renee and Melissa!

happy sunday,

katie

well, Ladies!!! I did a two mile jog today , then I did a light toning dvd. I wanted total body but nothing to heavy because I had a headache yet again!!

So I did the 20 minute upper body on the body fusion DVD, it was a premix and then the 20 minute lower body premix, I did it a few times before, but felt it was too easy, but I upped the weights to be more challenging, and it was a nice total body workout!!!
I was surprised, I used red tubing so it was heaviest tube, then I used 10 pounds for the rest of the exercises and it was just right!! not to heavy and I sweated some, but not like MM and it helped my headache!! amazing what a workout can do!!
I will do that again, I am thinking ill do it once a week, then a total body heavy once a week like MM or STS TB.

Melissa, I hope you are feeling like you are crawling out of the slump. I felt that way week before last but it lasted a while because I still tried to do exercise. I think if I would have rested id have felt better sooner!! I don't know, but I think rest and sleep are good for us.. I am just now realizing this duh lol

Eva, I am happy you are seeing the results you were wanting with the ART workouts!! I am still thinking hard about buying the 360 workout!! Can you tell me what is it that you like about it and what you don't like. Does it make you sweat? Is it better for light days? Is it a toning or cardio or both?

lady lep, wow I am glad you are losing the weight!! I know you are so happy the scale is finally moving in your favor!! I may check out the WW online if I don't see some movement myself!! Great job on Cardio leg blast !! I love that one!! I hope your son is doing better!! Summer sickness is not fun! Happy early anniversary!! How many years? Did you already say? Sorry if you did I didn't catch it.

Katie, AT is that the Low impact Athletic training or is it step Athletic Training? It was actually hot here but not to muggy! I was surprised it was not raining today!! I get confused with her energy workout dvd I have it has segments but they all sound the same. I want one that is easy flowing slow and deep breathing, relaxing for the head and shoulders and lower back.. lol not asking a lot am I?

I am still thinking of what color to paint my family/exercise room. It basically is an exercise room, I have to big mirrors on wall and I have all my stuff in there. So I was reading Orange evokes energy and I really think a soft orange will be great for the cardio, and weight dvds and I even think once I turn a lamp on and cut the over head off it will be a soft orange for yoga practices. But I am just stuck on the right shade or orange, I saw one at Lowes today it was called orange dream, I am not sure yet. Same for my bath trying to find the perfect green and my bedroom the perfect tan and one wall is going to be chocolate, but like I said so many times before I am not sure of the shade yet. It is hard to find when you are looking at them all at the same time. I cant wait to get it finished!!

Renee, glad the workout helped your headache! That's so cool! Good luck on the painting. I would love to let Little K's room painted (light green) and my bed room (aqua blue), family room (lime, same as kitchen) and B and CDawg's room (blue). But I'll be lucky if I actually choose the right green for Little K's room by the time summer is up!

I hope the scale goes down again for me this week. My WW meeting will be tomorrow instead of Wednesday (anniversary day, 14 years!). I should take measurements too, Eva inspires me!

Since I only have Little K this week, I'm hoping to get a lot done but also relax. Tomorrow morning will mostly be spent out dropping the older 3 off, then Whole Foods, then dropping all their overnight stuff off at my mom's then pick up some fish for dinner. Then if the weather is nice, Little K and I will walk/stroller to the pool from 11-12:30 or so, have lunch there (already made) and then head back for his nap (hopefully he will stay awake in the car all morning!) so I can workout and shower. But I hope to clean the house and maybe some more work on cleaning the schoolroom or looking at my new curriculum or scrap booking. :). This week is going to fly by!

Sickness is basically gone. B had a 102 fever yesterday but better enough today where I took the older 3 to see despicable Me 2. Fun! Except for JTrain throwing up in the car, I think he has some visual motion sickness going on. He go sick after Man of Steel last week too.

No workout today, rest day, I was happy to do six days in a row one 30+ min workouts!

I finally attached the picture from my raw yellow squash dinner from last week and the other on is my garden after the deer attacked it! :(. The tomatoes might survive as might the acorn squash. Cukes and sunflower are dead and bell peppers and delicate squash are questionable.

Alright, I should really be asleep as I need to be up by 6:15 to get to church by 8:30...JTrain has to be there by then for the counselor meeting.

hi girls! another long day here, but now in the last week of bravo. it is so hot and sticky here! got up and did HS no conditioning (still sore from athletic training yesterday, actually!) and then the 108 prostration push-up/upper body and core yoga from shiva rea. walked a ton today, too, so tomorrow may just be a yoga day.

renee-- so glad the workout helped your headache! way to go on the strength gains! if you try the first practice in the lunar flow from shiva's more daily energy, it is pretty mellow and just a nice stretch-- for the most part-- after a sweaty workout. I will have to check the name of it so I can tell you better. I did athetic training from the LI series and it felt intense! sorry you are having so much rain! we had great weather last week, but it is way too muggy here now-- so much so, I wish we were cloudy or raining!:p

ladylep-- sounds like you are super busy! glad the sickness seems to be gone-- sorry I missed that last post! I hate it when the kids are sick! anyway, hope you got your workout in!

hello Melissa and eva!

going to jump in the shower now! too sweaty with no a/c so it is the only way for me to cool off!

peace,

katie

Quick update: yesterday I got in tabatacise and back. I should have done the premix with abs but didn't. Today was AOLIH with chest. Last night to went to my WW meeting and I was up .8. Not good but way better than I thought. Since my anniversary is tomorrow I didn't want to go then.

Low key day today, just catching up on house stuff like laundry and sheets. Hopefully I'll get some cleaning in before Hubby and I go out to eat with friends and no kids! Little K will have a sitter tonight and tomorrow. :)

My eating has been so so and will get worse tonight because we are going to Bucca de Beppo.

Hope you all are doing well!

Hello All,
Sorry I've been MIA. I've not been feeling very forum chatty the last few days, but I'm still around.
Ladylep, have a wonderful anniversary dinner with your hubby and your friends. If anyone deserves a night out without the kids, it's you!! I'm glad you're having a quieter week in general, and the older boys are so lucky to get to spend the week with their grandparents!

Katie, I hope you're doing well. Thanks for sharing the link to the concert. I am looking forward to listening/watching the performance. Glad you've had some nice weather and that things are going well for you and the kids. If you have some time, at some point I would be interested in hearing what you pack for vegan lunches...it might give me some ideas, as I take my lunch to work 95% of the time.

Renee, I love that Bodyfit workout. It's a nice creative mix of pilates moves, with some dancing type moves, and bodyweight exercises. It:'s hard to describe. I don't know if you've seen this already, but here is a decent clip of the workout, Michelle Dozois Body Fit 360 DVD. I do it on rest days and it works well for that...and I burn about 325 calories doing it, but I feel stretched and calm afterwards, so it's a nice "bonus" workout.

Melissa, I hope you are doing well! I hope you're starting to ease out of your funk. :D
Take care,
Eva

Katie what are 108 prostration push-up/upper body? Is that sun salutations?

Lady lep great job on TAbata!! I really dread that one!! lol But I do like the AOLIH a lot! Thank .8 may just be the need to go to the rest room!!

Eva it is fine I understand the not feeling chatty at times.. I tell ya I get that way. I have three threads I am on. I have to sometimes not chat on all three everyday. Just to much and I don't want to copy and past that seems not so good. But I have done it with some parts every now and again.
thanks for you take on he body fit workout! oh my it sounds like what I need on days I don't want to workout but really feel stiff and need to move!! I sometimes feel my blood needs to flow, yet I don't want to job or lift heavy, and I love to feel stretched out and calm. lol

Melissa I miss ya!! hope you are doing better now!!

Okay I did a walk yesterday only two miles I think and jog really light for a half a miles.
Today was push pull! I am so proud of myself!! :D
I know it is easy for a lot of you but when I first started with Cathe I could not do all the reps!! now I did every single rep and I used heavier weights AND I did not sweat much!! I was really surprised. I remember once thinking man I just wish I can nail a cathe workout so I can feel like I accomplished it! Well I did !! every rep whoo hoo. Most of Cathes dvd I modify here and there or I will have to take longer brakes like tabata!! ouch. But since I did x train every thing seems easier, well except To the Max and Cross fire!! :p

Renee,
Congratulations on finishing Push Pull Cathe-style! I totally understand what you're saying about matching her...that's always my goal too. If I can get through this workout like the folks on the video, I know I'm doing well! That is a good motivating goal. Glad you're there!

Eva

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful day today. Happy Anniversary, Ladylep!! I hope you're having an awesome date with your hubby!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

Today I had a class which threw my schedule off. I got up around the same time, and worked out this morning, since I did not have to be in until 9 (I'm usually at work at 7). I am not a 6 am exerciser. It was hard...but I'm glad I did it. Kickboxing is about all I can muster at that time in the morning, or other no impact workouts. I did PowerStrikes. I did not have time to finish the whole thing, but I did about 35 minutes and burned 350 calories. I was surprised to burn that much, as I don't consider that workout to be that "intense". I also walked about a mile and a half today.

Now I'm of to read a book.

Eva

Eva great job on morning workout! I think if I was to do a morning before work I'd do hard strikes! That would be the only high impact I'd do because you don't have to think about plot or concentrate! You just move lol I think kick box would be good for mornings! Great choice!

I did a three mile jog at noon then I did yoga in the evening. I was wanting to do weights but since I did push pull yesterday ill wait till tomorrow to do a harder upper body. Maybe mm again I'm not sure yet. Or I do wish there were more workouts that is all upper body in about 45 minutes. I know the premixed in x train and 4 DS is an upper but they are very long!!
Hope everyone has a great evening. I ate great till about 5 I had corn chips! :(

hi girls--

sorry for my quick posts lately! the end of bravo means completely insane schedules. today imala played in a masterclass and so we were there until 6pm. just finished dinner and making lunch for tomorrow. tomorrow nygel plays in an afternoon concert at the end of the workday-- at 3:30, which I am hoping will not run too long as then alec and imala play in an evening concert at 7:30. another full day Friday plus evening concert, and then the gala on Saturday. then we are free! anyway, I am exhausted, but chugging along. it is such a great experience for the kids. this morning I got up and did 40/20 Hiit and man, was that brutal! that felt tougher then CF or TTM. I am probably super tired, though, too from not sleeping during all the heat and humidity. tomorrow I will just do yoga and get in another HiiT of some sort on Friday.

renee-- great job on your workouts! the 108 prostration push ups in on the Core Yoga dvd-- I love that one!

eva-- good to hear from you! I will let you know about lunches as soon as I have a bit more time-- remind me if I forget!

ladylep-- happy anniversary!

Melissa-- hope you are well!!

alright, better dash. hope to check in soon, but if I don't, you know where I am;):p

peace,
katie

Hi Girls,

I am back from my few days of vacation. We went to the shore for a few nights. I did not get in any exercise, except walking to and from the beach. I did less snacking which is good. I appreciate all of the words of encouragement regarding my slump. My hip still hurts, but more of a dull ache. I can't remember the last time I worked out. Renee, I think you are right on for me, I need the time off. I am going to keep away from workouts until Monday, except walking. I am going to keep off the junk between meals.

I am glad you have all kept up with your workouts. Katie, We get really humid weather too and it gets hard to breathe. Eva, you are so right about having encouragement. I am glad I have you all to keep me accountable, otherwise my slump would be a downward spiral.

Hi Ladylep.

I am sorry I just skimmed the past posts. It was nice not to be tied to my ipad for a few days. Something can be said to less access to electronics.

Off to fold towels!

Melissa

Katie those HIIT is crazy hard!!

Melissa so glad you u are back! Dang that hip!! I hate that,

Eva isn't that awesome about the new DVDs I love the sound a likes but It is so cool how they really try to please all of us!

I did HS tiday with burn sets tris

hi girls! have to post quickly as headed to the u of m for the last full day of bravo! yesterday was so stressful with all the performances, but the kids did so well! I will have to try and get video somehow-- forgot the flipcam but I know another parent recorded. anyway, so proud of them! tonight one more concert and then the gala tomorrow-- but this is all chamber music stuff now, so no more solos.

I did cardio supersets and some core yoga this morning-- super exhausted from way too little sleep, but got it done!

Melissa-- so glad you are back!! glad you had time away and hope that hip heals once and for all here soon!

renee-- you are doing so great on your workouts! woo hoo!

hello eva and ladylep!

better get my butt in gear!

hugs,

katie

Hello Everyone,

Katie, congrats to you and the kids for powering through some hectic weeks at Bravo. Bravo to you guys! Are you all going to just veg out this weekend? I hope so!!

Melissa, I am sorry that your hip is still bothering you; that stinks. Are you going to go back and check in with the chiropractor?

Renee, I will probably never really use the alternate tracks, but I'm excited that Cathe is offering them. I get tired of hearing people complain about the music on her DVDs so hopefully this will please the hard to please folks out there.

Hi Ladylep!

Today I did an ART lower body workout. This one is a butt literally. I've done this one before and it was tough. Buns are on FIYAH! I also went for a little walk today after dinner. I did not lose as much this week, but I'm down another .25 on my waist. My last week of the challenge ends next Thursday, then I'm going to do ART workouts 2-3x per week. I just got a bunch of new DVDs from Mary's sale, so I'm looking forward to working my way through those over the next few weeks.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Eva

Hi Everyone!

Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. No workouts the last 2 days. Hopefully I'll get one in today. Thursday we did simulator golf and my arms are in pain! I also had DOMS (?) soreness in my legs due to Legs on Wed. Yesterday I cleaned the house for about 2 hours, so that counts for something, right?

I haven't tracked my eating and haven't weighed myself. I hope to track and exercise today. Nothing planned except a trip to Home Depot to replace a shade for Little K's room, the shade already broke. He is sleeping horribly again...woke up a bunch last night. All the kids are back. :) Chaos is back.

Hi Girls,

i had unexpected company the last two days. It has been fun. No workouts and bad food. Tomorrow is my day to get back on track. Although I still have some pain, I will resume workouts, including art.

Eva, I will be glad when my butt is on fiyah!

Hi to Renee, Katie, and Ladylep, I will try to check in more often. Thanks for all of your continued support.

Melissa
