Taking it to the Max-- June 2013 thru...

Hello All,
Katie, I agree with you about Pyramid. That's the easiest one of the bunch for me, and it has moves that I like. I also prefer it because it does not need any equipment. I think the other two both use a step, if I remember correctly. I know 30/30 does. I've only done 40/20 twice, so I don't remember it that well. I do remember it was hard, though!

Renee, congrats on that extra .5 mile. That is awesome! I still believe that running is the toughest exercise of all, at least for me. I wish I could get into it, as it's efficient, but it just does not click with me. Do you still use Brooks as your preferred running shoe? Do you ever use those for aerobic stuff? If so, how do you like them for that?

Melissa, I have a similar experience to Katie's sister as far as eating and not being able to exercise. I went through a stretch a few years ago where I just did not want to exercise and probably took 3-4 months off. I ate very clean, though, watched my food very carefully, and I did not gain any weight at all. However, now that I exercise like a fiend, I'm not losing any weight either, and I still eat well, so take that for what it's worth! :D I do think that as long as you're not taking in more calories than you're expending, it would be essentially impossible to gain weight.

Hi Ladylep!

Today I did Booty Barre for about 30 minutes, that's all I had today. I had a class today and a second day of class tomorrow, so my schedule is a little off. Theoretically I'll get up tomorrow morning to work out, but we'll see how that goes. ;)

Ok, I'm off to watch the last episode of the Killing, season 1. Did anyone else watch that?

Take care,
Eva

Eva and Katie, thanks for the comments about weight gain. I did good today too. I wish I could do pyramid. I did 23 min. of bryan kest power yoga 1. Wow, lol.

Melissa

Melissa glad u tried the yoga! How did it feel to your back?

Eva I do use brooks defiance 5 and I have 6 now I alternate those to run I have tried the brooks for my aerobics but no they don't work we'll for that! I am a neutral runner, I thought I needed arch supports but I don't so I think that contributed to my PF. I went to a running store during my PF healing process and got fitted and surprised I did not need support ! And I could walk again! But I still can't run to far lol.
I do have to use shoes that have lateral support, for my aerobics or like crossfire because if side to side movements and I haven't found a great pair for that. I true rykas and they felt flat no cushion at all to me. Then I did up shots they were good but not long the cushion became hard if that makes sense, I got a pair of ASics gel intensity 2 they are good so far but next time I get a pair I need one size bigger. I have such sensitive feet!

Katie you are making me want to try that! I remembered one that caused me to b sore in my ribs and abs and I new it was one with the ball, but couldn't figure out which one! I will have to do that one lol

Katie- I have drill max so maybe I'll do that one on Friday. But I don't remember loving it.

Did I ask this already, but are circuit workouts the same as interval workouts? Because I know BM2 and HCExtreme both have some intervals in then. But does it really matter? If I'm doing cardio, UB, cardio, LB, circuit/interval/steady state cardio? And what about legs, like CLB/Legs/GymStyles Legs or butt and guts. I just deleted legs and glutes and KPC and my last Gilad Sclupt workout because we needed the space and I haven't done them in forever.

Today I was up early-ish and was hoping to do it, but only got TTM step tabata in, goodness, I think I may have already posted and said that! I had no time for anything else today. I'll have to do something early tomorrow too. Helpfully STS lower body.

Hi Melissa-good luck on eating clean! It's so hard! I just don't get yoga. Is it just a lot of Cathe's "cool downs" (downward dog, etc)?

Hi Eva and Renee!

In need to get my PT exercises in. Tomorrow is my last appt. my pain is mostly gone. :). But I've been bad with the exercises.

I've been pretty good with foodstuff today until after dinner.

hi girls-- still living in a sweatbox here. I think it supposed to be 100+ heat indexes today, and I plan on bringing the kids to a movie to escape some of it. was hard to sleep last night with it being so hot-- think I was up in the middle of the night for at least 2 hours. will be glad when this is over-- it's supposed to be in the 80s tomorrow and 70s on Saturday, which will feel amazing. today I did total body trisets chest shoulders and triceps premix and then did 50 minutes of intense yoga (arm balances and lots of sun salutations).

Melissa-- I love bryan kest, but he is ashtanga based and so pretty intense. way to go for getting that in! and good job on eating clean! I had green tea coconut milk ice cream last night:eek:

renee-- I always end up with PF when I run, too, and super sore calves/legs. I do lots of it when we vacation on the north shore, but beyond that, I know my feet and knees just aren't made for it:(. you'll have to let me know how you feel after the UB TBT. I am still sore...

ladylep-- maybe there is a premix on drillmax that you can do? I think there might be, but would have to double check. I think of circuits and interval workouts as being similar, but it seems like in the interval workouts cathe normally inserts a few "blasts"-- am I right? anyway, I don't think it matters what order you do it in, or whether it is steady state or circuit-- I just like to mix things up and so that is what I aim for. I do think HiiT or tabatas are most effective for losing weight, but I am also seeing how the horizontal work in AB and CSS is very effective for leaning out, too. I am keeping those in my rotation for a while as I am seeing results in my core/abs that I like (which could also be from all the yoga, too, but I think it is a combination). I hate those slow mountain climbers and spider man crawls but probably because they are what I need most:p

hello eva! hope you are well!

hope everyone is staying cool!

katie

Quick update as I need to make dinner (pizza) and go to my WW meeting. I got in STS TB lower body this morning and HiiT 30/30 in this afternoon! Burned close to 600 calories! Whoohoo!

Thanks for the ideas, Katie. Not sure yet what I'll do tomorrow. Depends on when I do it and what I have time for. :)

Hi Girls,

Renee, I think the yoga did help my back. I only did about 10 min. today.
I am doing much better pain wise and am afraid to do more.

Katie, I would have been sweating all night. sometimes i get uo and change my shirt in the middle of the night from sweat even with the ac. I liked the bryan kest beccause you don't hold the moves forever, except downward dog. I couldn't hold it as long as them. too much discomfort in the shoulder area. Maybe I am doing it wrong.

Ladylep, thanks for the words of encouragement,

Hi Eva!

Ate good today! 3 days in a row. Although, it is still early.

Melissa

Hello Everyone,
Katie, I'm sorry it's so hot here. It's crazy hot here in DC, but since we're so far south, every place here as A/C, for the most part. I lived in a house in college that did not (I went to college in Maryland), and it was so miserable! Your climate is more like what I had in Vermont and Maine, and not everyone there as A/C because it's just not hot for extended periods of time. I bet you're excited that it's going to cool down there! It is usually in the 90s with 100% humidity here from now until September, so this is only the beginning for us.

Renee, thanks for the info on the sneakers. I probably like my Asics best for aerobics and lateral moves, I agree, but they're not as cushy as I like for high impact. I had a pair of NB 900 series that was good for lateral moves, but they are very heavy, much heavier than the Asics. The NB 877s I have now are very cushy, but not very good for lateral moves. They're also kind of slippery, which is weird, and they are not as steady on my bamboo floors as I would like. Finding a good shoe is so hard!

Congrats on the double workouts, Ladylep, you are on a roll!!

Melissa, I'm glad you are feeling better today! Hopefully you've turned the corner. I would be pretty tentative about exercising now too! Kudos to you also for eating well the last three days. Now you can have a cheat tomorrow, and then do three or four more days...that might give you a little light at the end of the tunnel to keep you motivated. The weekends are hard though... :-(, which is why I program my cheat day on Saturday. I'm going to eat worse anyways, so I might as well plan for it. :)

Today I did a double workout, just like Ladylep! I did ART Cardio Dance Walk in the morning, which is basically a lower impact jazzed up indoor walking 30 minute workout. It was perfect for 6 am and I burned 300 calories in 30 minutes. I use 2# weights when I do this and add more bounce. When I came home I did a new Christi Taylor Hi-Lo aerobics workout. I just got a bunch of new workouts, but I'm sending most of them back as I don't like them. I am going to do this one again to see. I liked it ok, but I think it would bore me. It's a wee bit too repetitive, otherwise, it would be a good dancy, hi-lo workout. It's so hard to find awesome workouts, especially if you like dancy ones. I'm just so desperate to find good workouts that are not endless drills. :(

TGTIF!!
Take care,
Eva

If you guys are curious about the ART workouts that I've been doing lately, Terri Walsh, the trainer, has been doing a series via Instagram. It's a little weird to navigate, since each panel is a short video illustrating the move, but some of these could make good add-ons. Instagram. There are also photos here intermingled, but the videos are all in a series.

Some of these moves I just add on to other workouts. I have been getting good definition in my arms and my but is shrinking, so I'm happy!

I also love that these are joint friendly workouts, which I'm really appreciating right now.

Eva

Hey Eva,

300 calories in 30 min, is excellent!

I ended up eating ice cream, my sister is in town again and she treated us to ice cream at an old fashioned ice cream parlor, I ate the leftovers of my daughter. I guess it could have been worse.

Here it is another week almost gone, and I am hoping the pain is too!

Melissa

Melissa,

YUMMY!! Ice cream! I've been craving ice cream lately. We just figured out that a brand we've had in Ohio, Graeters, is sold at some stores here. Do you have that where you live? They have old fashioned shops there, but here you can get pints. It was the best ice cream I've ever had! :D:D:D

I hope you enjoyed it.

Katie, unfortunately I don't have circuit blast. I will do a search on Cathe's shop page and see what I have of hers that are circuit. I may check out drill max for tomorrow I just don't know.

Melissa, I hear you on the ice cream, as I'm sitting hear eating chocolate chip cookie dough!

Hi Eva and Renee!

Stay cool all! I'm thankful for a/c here and a pool in my development! We are headed to a friend's pool tomorrow afternoon through dinner, kind of been an every Friday weather permitting with friends from high school youth group and their kids. It's been really fun!

Eva, We do not have Graeters. Thank goodness the place we got ice cream doesn't sell in stores!

Ladylep, I am glad I am not the only one eating ice cream!

Anyhow, I am feeling pretty good today. Here foes my statement I have made many times in the past weeks, Monday is the day I workout regularly! Ha!

Melissa

Hardcore Extreme Interval Circuit is what I did today! About 15 min into it I thought I was going to die! And was thinking about quitting at 30 min then realizing that wouldn't even be half way! But I made it through, sweating buckets! Over 700 calories in 70 min!

Tomorrow I'll do nothing, or something easier (Butt and Guts premix) or something fun (Rhythmic Step). I will try to at least to abs or something with abs as I don't think I did anything with abs this week.

Next week I think I'm going to try to do all the ones on the timesaver DVD. Weights and cardio on each one and core/abs on 3.

It will be hard to eat well this weekend: pool party with dinner tonight (same people every Friday that the weather is nice) and B will be 7 on Thursday so his party is tomorrow at our pool, pizza and a big cookie. But thankfully he asked for peanut butter M&Ms which I don't really like all that much so I won't be eating a ton of that! And I'm up almost 5 pounds in the last 1.5 weeks, due to not tracking last week during my anniversary. :( Here's to a better week next week! And I'll be starting raw towards the end of next week. Tuesday/Wednesday will mark 7 days before my period, which I will have to watch my temper!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

hi girls! well the weather finally feels some better this early afternoon, but this morning was rough working out. it feels like my body never gets a chance to cool down at night, and then I am pushing it with hiit:(. anyway, I got it done despite feeling like my legs weighed 200 lbs a piece! did afterburn and then more daily energy/yoga practice with shiva rea. then imala and I took busgy on a 25 minute walk-- there is a breeze out now and the humidity is dropping, thank goodness!

eva-- that sounds hot! I don't know that I could take so many days of 90+. I am much better in the 60s and 70s. if I could I would live out on the west coast-- my sister is in la jolla and the weather there is always perfect. thanks for the link! will have to check that out! also, congrats on the results and on getting your double workout in!

ladylep-- a day at the pool sounds wonderful! have fun with your friends! congrats to you for your intense workouts these days! that is fantastic! you deserve a little cheat this weekend, I would say! it seems you have been very consistent with getting your sweat in:D. happy birthday to your little guy!

Melissa-- it is easy to eat ice cream when the weather is so hot! luckily, my green tea stuff is pretty low cal and high in fiber-- maybe you should give it a try! it is by so delicious and is made with coconut milk (hence the 5g fiber per serving). probably not as creamy as the stuff you had, but I think it is super yummy and does the job of cooling me off a little;). I bet you will get on track Monday! you can do it! glad you are feeling good today!

renee--hope you are doing well! did you get to your scary movie today??

happy Friday everyone! busy weekend for me as I work tomorrow first half of day and bring the kids to lessons in the afternoon, then more work and a bday party on sunday for my grand niece and nephew.

peace,

katie

Greetings!

Wow, Ladylep, you are on a nice roll. I've never done Hardcore Extreme but I'm sure its a doozy, since Cathe's version of hardcore is certainly going to be serious business. 700 calories is amazing. I think I've only burned that many calories in one workout once and it was a buttkicker. Your evenings at the pool with your high school friends sounds like such a great time! I wish we got together with our friend more often, but everyone is so busy these days. You'll drop those five pounds in no time, so don't worry. Have a good birthday party for B this weekend too.

Melissa, I'm glad you are feeling well today too.

Katie, kudos on getting in your workout under these conditions. It's so hard to motivate when it's hot. I was just chatting with two friends who workout about this today. We were all complaining about how the heat makes us sluggish...but we're all persevering too. How's Henri faring in the heat?

Renee, hope you are well! Your friend is coming this weekend, right?

OK, gotta run. Jeremy is home and we're about to head out for a movie...and I still need to shower. I just finished my ART upper body workout.

Toodles!

Eva

Hi girls I have been busy the past two days! I like it too lol.
Any how I did the dynamic core per the peak fit rotation, and I did today the cardio strength one and man it was good.. I tried to do like she said the girls in the back were doing 8 and 10 pounds as light and heavy weights, but I was doing that and I had to go with 5 for the lights weights because I couldn't go as fast without messing up the form! So I am gonna stick with the five for now and eights.. kind of disappointed with my self but I am thinking okay it is just a different type of workout.. I mean I only use 5 and 8 in Crossfire and TTM and this was a workout like that, sort of.. any way I will come back later to get into personals!! also I received my KCM dvds I ordered three of them I really like what the spit looks like but I opened the cardio blast and no DVD!!!

Melissa, you will make it happen!! lol I think you should keep trying the yoga too.. I don't do It often enough but I do try to add on a yoga at least once to two times a week.

LadyLep Hardcore Extreme Interval Circuit !! I don't have that one but I tell you I think that ones title speaks for itself I would be afraid of it lol I am afraid of after burn and ttm and cf but I do try to do them once in a blue moon!! lol I can not imagine doing Hardcore extreme anything, is that the one with a compilation or is it a premix from low impact circuit? So proud of you that you finished it!! and 700 calories?! WTG
Good luck at the pool party with dinner tonight

Katie, Glad the weather is doing better!! OMG Katie you are doing all the hard workouts I tend to avoid!! I don't mean too but I tell ya, if I think of trying them I feel draggy even before I get started.
no I have not got to see the scary movie lol it is hard to get anyone to go.. I guess I can go alone but I hate to lol I will be scared!!

Melissa, I'm glad you are feeling well today too.

Eva, hi there!! yes she is coming this weekend I think Saturday!! I hope it is gonna turn out good!! I hope she likes it here, and I hope I can make her feel welcome but not up her butt lol I like my time so I don't want to ignore her or make her think I am ignoring her but I also don't want to be overly welcoming and talk to much lol I know I think way to much!! we have a great time together and it is like the years was not years at all so I think that is a good thing!! What movie are you seeing?
