Taking it to the Max-- June 2013 thru...

Renee, enjoy your weekend with your friend. I also have a few friends that I hardly ever see, but when we do, it's like we saw each other yesterday. Those are the friendships I cherish the most...because it's nice to have a friend that you're so in synch with.

Today I did lots of ART workouts! I did the dance walk again, a lower body segment and another lunge/plank sequence add on. I worked out for 90 minutes and burned about 700 calories. I did break in the middle to make some blondies for a dinner party I'm heading to tonight, though. ;-)

Off to get ready for that...I hope you are all doing well. Ladylep, I hope the party is going well for you today.

Katie, you're busy with clients today, if I recall...catching up on work! I hope it's not too hot there today. :)

Hi Melissa!

Eva

hi girls! have to be quick here as I need to run do shopping for birthday presents for a party this afternoon. tired, too-- for whatever reason my insomnia kicked in pretty good last night:confused::(. I had been doing pretty well for a few nights and have been using a magnesium supplement. oh well, hoping for a better night tonight. I did all 5 tabatas this morning and 40 minutes of more daily energy yoga. it didn't feel so bad-- probably because it is so cool here today!

eva-- you always impress me with your workouts! so great! hope the dinner party was fun! I did work all morning thru mid afternoon yesterday, and then brought the kids to lessons. busy day!

renee- hope you are having fun with your friend! I dread those workouts, too, but know that they are effective, so make myself keep them in my rotation:p

hello Melissa and ladylep! hope you are having a nice sunday!

alright, better fly!

I did cardio interval burn peak fit, where does Michelle get her energy! She seems like she just bounces lol!!! Like springs on her feet ! I hoe I can one day feel light on my feet again! I miss that feeling. It was a great workout! Fun music not as good as x train but it was good! I miss Hard strikes lol! I think I may add that to the day I'm suppose to do the core workout!!! I hope I finally lose weight, the ONLY bad thing I eat is almond butter or peanut butter! The rest of time I eat veggie trays and spinach salads! I mean really what more can I do. I thought I was losing but not!

I'm happy to say me and hubby went to see the movie the conjuring!! Oh my it was good!! Loved items shocked hubby went with me lol he don't like to go out to movies, to expensive and to Manu people so we went early in the day,
My friend didn't come here yet she is coming today. Her and her friends went to a concert last night to say bye to her! I think she is lucky to have that many friends, I hope she understands how hard it is here to make friends. Yes I am her friend but I have to admit people here in SC are not very nice! I keep thinking I must be in New York or jersey where people say its rude there! Idk. So I do worry about that and I did warn her.
Hope u all have a wonderful day

Good Morning Girls,

Katie, sorry your insomnia is back! You handle disruption well. I was going to get back to it today, and will start tomorrow. After I dropped my son off at basketball camp, I get home to workout and there is work to be done. Well, I was only going to do 4 days this week to ease back in.

Renee, It will be nice to have your friend nearby. My two closest friends live over an hour away and it is difficult to keep in touch,

Eva, I haven't done art for over a week. I am going to incorporate it when I start back. I can't wait. I am glad you are doing so well.

Hi Ladylep

I am sorry I don't check in as much, everything is easier to put off in the summer.

Melissa

hey girls! this morning was S&G for me plus 10 minutes of core yoga. it is nice to see that the plank work on discs-- mountain climbers, etc-- is getting easier! I guess having been away from it for awhile my strength had declined, but it seems like it is back again. anyway, that is nice to see:). still love to hate those discs, though!

renee--sounds like a great, sweaty workout! so glad you got to see your scary movie! I think it might freak me out too much, so I am letting alec and imala go with their cousins on Thursday night and nygel and I will hang with the little/younger ones. since mom passed away I have stayed away from most scary movies as I think I am hypersensitive to it now and think about that stuff at night and then don't sleep. am sure I will catch up on scary movies around Halloween, though! that is one of our favorite holidays around here:D

hello eva, Melissa and ladylep! hope everyone had a nice weekend!

katie

we must have been posting at the same time, Melissa! I think 4 days sounds like a good plan! I hear you on the work thing-- seems like there is always something to be done around here.

okay, I am off now!

Hello Everyone,
Melissa, good to hear from you. Sounds like you are feeling better today. Good luck with your workout tomorrow, and definitely take it easy. The workouts will be there whenever you're feeling better. ;)

Katie, sorry your sleeplessness is rearing its head again. It's amazing how many people don't sleep well. I've seen a lot of studies attributing it to stress, tv screens, computer screens, etc. Who knows? What is apparent is that we get by on less sleep than we need. I hope you have a restful evening tonight.

I am like Katie on the scary movies. That is a no-go for me. I also try to avoid really violent movies too. I just have a very weak constitution when it comes to things like that, but I'm glad DH went with you, Renee. Sounds like you had a good time! Jeremy and I went to see Pacific Rim on Friday and we liked it alot.

Hi Ladylep! I hope you are well. Are you transitioning to raw this week?

Ok, I'm sleepy! Need to hit the hay. Today I did Ultimate Yogi Cardio. Sunday I took the day off.

Tomorrow is an ART day for me.

Take care,
Eva

hi girls! beautiful day here again today-- was actually chilly this morning when I came downstairs to workout-- 58 degrees outside. hoping this lasts for a while! anyway, got up and did TTM triple tabata plus shiva rea's upper body yoga/108 prostration push-ups plus core. I will take the dogs for a walk here in a bit. eva, you asked how henri was doing in the heat, and he really dislikes the muggy weather:(. he did want to go for a walk yesterday, though, so I think he is happy now that it has cooled off-- thanks for asking about him!

the sleep thing is still a drag. can't figure it out as I was doing better on the magnesium supplement, but lately I wake for no reason around 2am or so and am up til 4am. thinking it may be TTOM coming on again, as I seem to always have crummy sleep around then, but not really sure.

eva--I am curious what the yogi cardio is like? do you sweat/get your heart rate up with that one? hope you got some good sleep last night! and maybe the weather is better for you, too?

Melissa-- hopefully you got something in today-- maybe a nice, mellow workout to start back into things? hoping you are having a good day!

renee-- hope you are having some good times with your friend! what are you guys up to today?

hello ladylep! you probably are starting a raw diet again, like eva thought. hope things are going well!

will check in again soon!

katie

Greetings,
Checking in with ART lower body today. A great workout. My buns were on fire. I will definitely revisit this one again. My shoulders are sore from yoga yesterday as well.

Katie, the cardio yoga workout is not that intense, compared to a Cathe workout, but it does seem relatively intense for a yoga workout. I stayed within my target heart rate zone for about 35 minutes or so, and the workout is a little over an hour. It's a nice rest day workout for me, and I'm trying to do so yoga or that Bodyfit 360 workout every Monday. Glad you had cooler weather today. I would love to wake up to 58 degrees! It's between 70 and 80 in the morning here. It's a wee bit cooler here, so now it's in the upper 80s, which is not *that* bad for this area this time of year. Glad Henri is hanging in there and that the cooler weather is easier for him. It sounds like Bugsy isn't bothered by it. How are the kids doing? What are they up to this week? I hope they're having some down time. :D Hope you get some shut eye tonight.

Hi Melissa, Renee and Ladylep.

Take care,
Eva

Hello ladies I had a busy day at work so I went for a 23 minute jog instead of pure cardio DVD. I just needed to get outside! Breath!
We aren't doing much here we are kind of just working and exercise and bed for now ! Both are dental offices have been busy enough to ware you out. I was busy because yesterday n today I did the front desk and back chair side assisting and made a couple of retainers. So I like the busy part but hate she is to slow! Lol

I'm excited to hear when Cathe is gonna film I read rehearsals but I don't see filming this week! Did u guys see if she said filming? And I wish they'd tell us what they are putting in the greatest hits DVD!! The suspense is agony! Ha ha I want pics to! And I get excited for the road trip even though I can't go, I still love seeing other fans have a ball! Love it

Hi Katie,Renee, Eva and Ladylep,

I have decided to take a break from the boards. I am so out of it as far as working out. You have all been very motivational to me. I feel I am not here as much for all of you and my support has become nil.

Thank you all for all of your support and encouragement these last few months, really it has been a half a year. I wouldn't have made it this far without you.

I am sorry this sounds generic, I don't mean it too.

Good luck and wishes in your routines.

Sincerely,
Melissa

Hi everyone!

Sorry I've been MIA. We are at the Adventure Aquarium yesterday ,then to the pool, dinner and ice cream with friends that are in town from Savannah, they have 3 boys. :) And Monday I had another friend over with her 3 kids. Today I just ran some errands and dropped off JTrain at a friend's. That way I didn't have to drop him off at church at 12:30 and have Little K nap in the car. He won't be home until after youth group (XTreme) at 9:30. And all I have is a wonderful annual visit with my midwife and my WW meeting.

But I did get workouts in both mornings. I'm working through Timesaver this week, I did #2 Monday and #1 was yesterday and today will hopefully be #3 while Little K is napping. I also got a good but lighter workout in on Saturday: Butt and Guts: Premix standing legs and abs.

B's party went great! 8 boys in the pool is about the easiest party ever!

And I think I will be transitioning to raw this week, but one of my best friends from high school, is having a bday pool party on Saturday. So I'm starting raw on Sunday that will give me hopefully 3 days of raw before my period comes late Tues/Wed of next week.

Thanks for keeping in touch, even though I've been MIA!

hi girls-- well, I wish I could say I slept last night, but it was a rough one. yesterday brought some stressful news that I think is the culprit. rik found out that he has an inguinal hernia which requires surgery:(. the worst part is that he is self-employed and right now has no insurance, so major drag here. I think that was way too much on my mind so I ended up not sleeping most of the night. it is another gorgeous day here, though, so I got up and did CSS plus 40 minutes of yoga and then took the dogs for a walk. yes, eva, bugsy seems to put up with most weather, though I know he doesn't mind skipping walks in the super cold days of winter and when it is super hot, he comes home and stretches out like a flat pancake on the hardwood floor:D.

eva that yoga dvd sounds and looks a lot like bryan kest's dvds-- I went and checked it out. I am so picky about yoga teachers, otherwise I think I would buy it-- there are three that I love and they seem to put out enough dvds/practices to keep me practicing:). I think it's great that you incorporate that into your weekly rotations. oh and aren't buns on fire always a good thing?! glad you had a nice intense workout-- seems like you get lots of those, though! it sure is warm where you are! I am so grateful it has cooled off here-- extended forecasts all look like highs in 70s to low 80s and lows in upper 50s to mid 60s. I love that-- especially when the humidity is so low. the kids are having a nice break from all their work, though they did seem to be bored senseless last week (esp when it was so hot and no one felt like getting outdoors). anyway, alec and imala are headed to the scary movie tomorrow night with my nieces and nephews and nygel and his cousins close in age will be here to do something fun. thanks for asking about the kids:)

Melissa-- I am sorry that you are taking a break as I will miss hearing from you-- even if you are taking a break from workouts for a while! I really do think we probably all need that once in a while, especially for you right now as you have had that hip pain for way too long. anyway, I hope you will come back on and join us again sometime soon! it has been great getting to know you, so keep in touch when you can!

renee-- glad you got outside for a jog! that sounds perfect:D. sounds like you are super busy! when do you get another vacation from work? seems like your last one just ended up with you in pain from the stone:(. hoping you get a break soon from the hectic schedule. oh, and did you see the update on the new dvd? I am really looking forward to that one and the kickbox one-- I am not a huge step fan, so these two will probably be my favorites (or I will love to hate them!)

ladylep--glad you are getting some time in with friends and family this summer. great job on still getting your workouts in! I don't have the timesaver series-- do you like it? good luck with the raw diet-- I just got my sunwarrior protein powder restocked in the mail-- really love that stuff and it is vegan and raw. guessing you have tried it before. glad the bday party went well, too!

okay, I am going to get a couple errands done around the house-- lots of dirty clothes calling my name.

take care,
katie

Well today I thought for sure I got in 4 miles! But I did not ! I got home I had gone 3.9 !!! I almost made it! Crapy part was I want to do it in45 minutes but it was 49 ! Grr
Ill get it dang it! Then I did kathy smith yoga intermediate it was nice! Very relaxed after that one!

hello girls! today I had very little time before work in the morning and my quads have been sore for a couple of days, so I decided to just do shiva rea's core yoga dvd-- I did 4 of the segments which came out to about 50 minutes of yoga. I really like this dvd though, because it actually gets your heart rate up (she does yogic mountain climbers!) and works the lower body, so it still felt like a nice, sweaty workout. I am also driving the kids back and forth to chamber music practices today, and then tonight will have my great niece and nephews over while alec and imala go to a movie-- the scary one, the conjuring--- with my niece and her husband. will probably be a late night, but at least it is Friday tomorrow!

renee-- you came darn close to 4 miles!! I think your time is great and how nice to be working out outdoors while you can! woo hoo! hope you are having a good day today!

hello to eva and ladylep! hope you guys are also having a good day!

and hello to Melissa, even though you may not be on here now;)

hugs,

katie

Hello All,
Renee, congratulations on getting to just about 4 miles!! Four minutes and a tenth of a mile means it is within your grasp to accomplish that goal. Heck, you might even do it the next time you run. I'm proud of you!! :D:D How are your feet feeling today after your run?

Ladylep, congrats for getting in your daily workouts. I still don't know how you do it! You and Katie are my heroes! :) It sounds like you and your family have such a well-rounded life...you manage to get in your kids and home activities, and you spend time with close friends and family. That sounds lovely. :) I hope your WW meeting went smoothly.

Katie, I am so sorry to hear about Rik's hernia. And I am especially sorry to hear that he does not have health insurance to help cover it. Since he is self-employed, are there any support programs that he can tap into through the state health agency? Has he started to look into any options to assist with the expense? That would keep anyone up all night...very stressful. I hope you guys find a good solution that enables him to get the care he needs without being a huge financial drain. I'd be curious to hear how the kids like the Conjuring. The more I hear about it the more interested I am in seeing it. I know it would scare the crap out of me, but it sounds like it's not gory, which is usually why I stay away from stuff like that. I can do movies that are creepy and atmospheric, in fact I like them. But I don't like violence and gore. I did check out a few clips of Bryan Kest on Youtube, and I did not really click with him. I can see what you mean that he is similar to Travis Elliott, but I guess I have a soft spot for him now and I've settled in to his style. I have to check out the Shiva Rea workouts...I've not previewed those yet. I'm not sure what it was that did not work for me with those Bryan Kest workouts, but that's how these things go. That's why there's enough room for a million instructors, because everyone's tastes are so different.

Yesterday I went to a Pilates class. That was my first time in a real class on a reformer. I liked it. I was working. That was probably one of the toughest workouts I've ever done. I had a one-on-one session with the instructor, and frankly she was going pretty easy on me. It just used my muscles in a totally different way. It was shockingly hard. I also got a small rebounder and am going to start doing some jumpy workouts. I'm trying to find ways to do some higher impact stuff without bothering my feet. I think I'll like the rebounder a lot. I did not work out today because I have a weird pain my tailbone that's gotten worse as the day has gone on. I thought I would have DOMS from the Pilates class, but somehow I ended up with these weird tailbone issue instead. Not sure what that's about. Hopefully it will be much better tomorrow. I did jump on my rebounder for a few minutes, but that did not seem like a good idea. Tomorrow I will walk if it is still sore.

Melissa, I am sorry to see you go. I hope you'll check in with us occasionally and let us know how you're doing. I love your posts and your sense of humor. I'm going to miss you on the check in, and I hope your hip gets better soon.

Eva

Katie. Oh my goodness that is awe full about Your hubby ! I think that is unsettling. I hope you can find a way to make it work. Like Eva said maybe he can get help from state. However if its like here it is hard to get any help! My boys have this problem to. It's so sad. Ill be praying for a solution.

Lady Lep hope u are doing well today. You seem to be on track still.

Eva my feet were good the next day! I was surprised. I had been trying to insert days of jogging when the rotation cause for a pure cardio because its so nice out! I am still doing peak fit for the most part! Lol.

Yesterday I did a yoga by kathy smith. It was the basic one that starts off on ur back. I could not do any other exercise yesterday sad to say!! I woke up lifted my head off my pillow and heard a snap and then pain! It was pain all the way down my neck into shoulder blade! I went to work but my dentist asked what was wrong And she looked at it. It was red and swollen. She had me to go see my doctor, thank goodness I didn't hurt my disk he said it was a torn muscle or ligament in the neck!! Strange! So I was told no exercise go home take muscle relaxers and pain meds. So I did, he said once I feel ok I can jog or walk but I can't lift for a few days. He said it can take two weeks or longer. Lol who ever thought you can hurt your self lifting your head?

Melissa I do miss your humor !! I hope u pop in once in a while and tell us how ur doing,

hi girls! thanks for the support re:rik. it is stressful. there is something in Minnesota called mncare that I have told him to apply for in the past, so he is going to do that now, but worried about how long it will take and about him working with the hernia in the meantime.. ugh. I don't know if it is a guy thing or what, but wishing he had applied before something went wrong, versus now, but I think men always think they will be healthy and/or that nothing will happen to them. I guess some women, too, but it feels like it is a guy thing. anyway, hoping he gets approved and then will have to get the surgery and not sure how long for recovery. blech.

today I did supercuts, which felt good and also more difficult after not doing it for a few months. I also did 30 minutes of shiva rea yoga.

eva-- that is so interesting about the pilates class! I would like to try out those machines, but still have yet to do so. my sister swears by them and she is very fit. anyway, glad you had a good/tough experience:D the kids liked the movie! imala said it was super scary and alec said it was pretty scary-- not really any gore, either. they had a fun night! let me know if you try shiva rea-- I think you would like her!

renee-- I am so sorry about your neck!! ouch! so glad that your boss took a look at it and that you went in! rest up and heal well! hope you have a quiet weekend planned:)

hello ladylep! hello Melissa (I know, still hoping you pop in sometime!)

better get moving with the day! going to walk bugsy and henri and then take nygel to cello lessons. it is chilly here! highs in the mid to upper 60s today! feels like fall:)

happy Friday!

katie
