Taking it to the Max-- June 2013 thru...

Hi ladies! I can hardly move my arms! Lol not only was it the full upper body burn sets I really pushed myself to lift heaven as I possibly could and I did 20 pound dumb bells for press and 15 for flys and 12 for bis. And I even did shoulders military press with 12 that's good me I normally only do 10 lol Tonight I did cardio hard strikes! And core premix!

Eva no can't do one square lol that's like peanut butter to me if its here I eat it and eat it all lol

Katie can u tell me your rotation it sounds neat!!

Lady Lep you are doing awesome!! Keep going!

Goodness you guys I Miss Melissa, geez ... Ok girls got to lay it down

Hi everyone!!

Got in hard strikes at 6:25 am this morning! And had lights out by 11 last night!! Little K still woke me at 2 or 3 something but I feel more rested than I have have in months!!

hi girls! three little munchkins will be arriving here any minute, but wanted to post something quickly (who knows when I will get another chance today!). anyway, I did circuit blast today and then 43 minutes of yoga. in CB I used the blue band and 20 lbs instead of 15-- that is a good, short sweaty workout:). don't know why I don't use it more often! the yoga was from 2 different shiva rea dvds. morning yoga, which is very active and lots of core work, then more core yoga from another dvd plus forward bends which really relax you. anyway, was a good workout and it looks like it will be another gorgeous day, so will head out to the park with the kiddos.

renee-- I miss Melissa, too! hoping she comes back someday! way to go on the weights!! woo hoo! did HS loosen up your upper body a bit? hoping so! sometimes that is the only thing that makes my DOMS lessen, is to get up the next day and do some good cardio:). my rotation is pretty simple. I am doing 3 days of HiiT a week, plus yoga 6 days a week and then on the other 3 days I do metabolic workouts, circuit and/or one day of heavier weights. it seemed like with xtrain and the heavy weights all of the time I got stronger, definitely, but not leaner. anyway, I am hoping that by getting HiiT (or tabata) in a few times a week, I am burning big calories, the yoga is to keep my muscles long and hopefully leaner, and then one day for weights to keep my strength up. anyway, not sure what the results will be, but wanted to give it a try. like I have said before, I was actually my very thinnest-- 15 lbs lighter then I am right now, and even lighter then I was in high school or college-- when I was doing only the primary series of ashtanga yoga 6 days a week-- no cardio or weights whatsoever. go figure, huh? wish I could get some of that with a little more balance, but we shall see...;)

ladylep-- great job on the workout this morning! especially on a day with middle of the night wake-up times! glad you are feeling so well rested, though!

hello eva! hope you are having a good Friday!

alright, better prepare for the craziness!

peace,

katie

Lady Lep great job u r still knocking the wo out ! Lol

Katie interesting ! I am doing more jogging and I am trying to do a weight workout heavy and one legs but I am not getting in the second one in thee! I want to do weights heaven once upper and lower and once upper and lower with moderate a week and yoga two times and jog three but not sure how to do it! I have been painting alot so that is a rest day lol except today I painted and was mad cause I kept messing up so I had to go jog and I shaved a minute 5 sec off my time!! Yah!!! Tomorrow I need to get in legs I think.

hi girls! got up and did CF today plus 48 minutes of yoga, then we headed to brunch for those apple quinoa pancakes that I am becoming addicted to:eek:. came home from that and took the dogs for a walk. burned 776 calories, so hopefully it was okay to eat the pancakes!

renee-- that is so great on your jog time! way to go! sounds like you have a good plan for a rotation, too! I was surprised that CF did not feel so bad today-- my least favorite part is that initial fitness blast...once I get through that, things seem pretty good. anyway, good luck on the painting! it has been so long since I have painted anything-- love freshening things up with a new coat of paint. your exercise room looks great!

hello ladylep and eva! hope you are having a good weekend!

hugs,

katie

Paddle boat today and then a nice 30 minute jog! I found runtastic app for my phone. There is a fat loss program I am going to try it calls for 30 minute jogs four times this week the next jog is Tuesday. So I think tomorrow ill do legs DVD and do it at work since the afternoon is no patients scheduled. Lol I think all I need for that workout is two sets of weights, and fire walkers? Ill have to look.

hi girls! renee, it seems it's just you and me here for awhile:). everyone is probably busy with their summers. anyway, I did S&G this morning. I really like how that one works the legs so much and also the slow mountain climber/dragging push-up plank work I think is super effective (though not always fun!). anyway, got that done and 25 minutes of shiva rea yoga, today I did the "earth" segment. I had super bad insomnia last night after rik came to bed-- just couldn't fall back asleep for anything, until just before my alarm went off! in that short time period, I had a dream with my mom in it, which was nice as I really don't do that often, but nice to feel her around still in some way. anyway, working today and it is rainy outside/dreary.

renee- you are doing so well with your jogging! how are your feet holding up? hope you get legs in. I thought that needed the big ball, too? it has been awhile, though! maybe that is in an add-on section. hope you are having a good day!

hello eva and ladylep!

still missing Melissa, too!

peace,

katie

Katie

Yes! I just read I need the big ball for legs but I am hoping I can use the chair instead. I may do barre part then the floor work to see what I have to modify.
Yes actually my left foot does feel not to good but I am glad I don't jog til Tuesday! And it's only 30 minutes at that. I love to jog but I sure hate when my foot starts. I am hoping giving it a rest day today it will be good to go. I am hoping it will help get rid of my fat!!!

You also are doing a great job!! I have been having the insomnia myself again! I had been doing better too. I for some reason feel a need to try and stay awake!! I know that's strange but I put on my eye patch but feel I need to hear the tv rather then earplugs and turn it off! It's like I am feeling anxious again! I understand about the dreams! It took over a year for me to have a dream that was good about my mom! It was all bad dreams and sad scary ones at first for me if I had them. Most of the time I didn't have any and my sisters told me they dreamt about her all the time! It's so sad. But my dreams I had lately have been bazaar to say the least but they haven't been about her. It's more like I see things like when the Jews was in the camps, and different stuff that are scary and possible that can happen or gas happened. See.. Strange! Lol

Have you finally got some days you don't have so much going on now?

Oh gosh almost forgot!!! I just ordered STS!! It is deal of the day!! I can't wait to see it! Do u have it? I can't remember what you said. I think I will start on it soon but I will do jogging on non STS days! I am sure I HAVE to lean our by doing this and eating less !!! Right? I hope!
I think I am going to do Kathy smith yoga today intermediate one. Not to bad I think.

hi renee! did you end up trying the legs without the ball? now that I start thinking of that workout even more, I am pretty sure you need discs, too:p. I will have to order myself some new discs as I just realized both of mine have small cracks in them (in the same place...wonder what the heck I did to them!?). for today I just put some duct tape on them and then the black covers back on and they worked fine. how exciting that you got sts!! I don't have that and am not quite ready to commit to that one, though will be anxious to hear of your results! I am anxiously awaiting the new workouts! guess she finished filming them all and now we wait for editing and such. I wanted to let you know that there is a great deal on 3 shiva rea dvds on Women's Apparel | Tops and Outfits | Unique Gifts | Beautiful Home Decor | Acacia Catalog. not sure how long it will last, but they have 3 of her dvds priced at $5 each! a very sweet deal, plus I got instant downloads free on two of the ones I purchased. I think if you click on their sale button they should come up. anyway, not to encourage us blowing more money on dvds, but this is such a cheap price for good yoga that I thought I should pass it along!

I hope we both lose the fat we want to;)

my schedule is pretty calm right now and we are going on vacation in a couple of weeks-- can't wait! though when we get back, school will be starting and I am stressed for that! anyway, when we head up north I will be running everyday, so I hope my feet can handle it! such a bummer to have foot issues but sounds like yours is doing okay:D

have a good night!

katie

Hello all,
Quick check in for me, I will BBL for personals...

Let's see, it was a nice quiet weekend for me. Nothing exciting, but not a lot of time on the computer, which was nice. Saturday and today were ART days. Sunday I did 1/2 of KPC and a 30 minute Abs/Pushup DVD that I just got. It's by Ilaria Montagnani and it literally alternates three sets of pushups with three ab exercises back and forth for 30 minutes. It was a good workout. Definitely felt that in my upper body today and want to do that workout at least once per week.

Katie, sorry you're still battling with insomnia. I don't know how you get in your workouts without sleeping ever. It seems you get just a few hours every night. :(

Renee, sorry that your foot is bothering you. IMHO, if the jogging bothers your foot, it's not worth it, since there are so many other workouts there, but I know that's easier said than done. It took me a while to admit that I cannot do a lot of high impact, and I'm still in denial, which is why I bought that rebounder. ;)
Ok, I've got some reading to do, will check in again tomorrow.

Hi Ladylep!
Eva

Hi everyone!

Sorry I've been a little MIA. I have worked out every day except I took Sunday off. Yesterday was Tabatacise. I wasn't in the mood to workout so I just did the the 18 min tabata 1, still worked up a good sweat. Today will be AOLIH,hopefully I'll get to it. We only have today and tomorrow to finish planning for our trip as Thursday is packing. Today I hope to have the kids make some cards for a friend who's hip went out, get B's thanks you cards made, prints, written and mailed, go to another friend's house to have him look at our radio since its been really static-y. Then lunch, Little K's nap and then I hope to get my workout in. Sometime after lunch, my husband's cousin is coming over pick up some school stuff to borrow. She homeschool's her 7. :). Then I'll need to work on printing out travel games like the license plate game, etc. I doubt I'll get all that done, plus Hubby is really sick with a cough and sore throat.

So if I pare down, I HAVE to print out travel games today or tomorrow. And I need to buy travel games and set up wifi on my iPhone so we can use our iPads for movies in the car, if needed. Last time we went, we didn't use the portable DVD player we borrowed.

Busy, but exciting! I've been putting off the cards for the friend and thank yous long enough. Those I'm not thrilled with doing...but they need to be done.

So I'm not sure how much more I will be on, plus I've been going to bed too late and my weight hasn't moved much, up and down a little every few days. I'm still tracking though.

Gotta get moving! I'm still in bed as Little K woke me and I "slept" in his bed until 6:30. I've been in and out of sleep from then until 8ish.

hi girls! ugh. insomnia bug again last night. it always seems to come in sets of 3 or so:confused::(. anyway, HiiT felt pretty rough this morning-- at least the first half-- but pushed through it anyway. did the 30/30 as that seemed the most doable for today. then did agni namaskar/108 prostration push ups yoga sequence. I really do like that one-- it is challenging and a nice flow. I work this evening until late, so hoping maybe I can sneak a nap in today. not too much going on until then, though I do want to clean this house some and get laundry done.

ladylep-- so happy you guys get to go on vacation! sounds like you are getting in gear for the new school year, too. I am still in denial that the craziness is just around the corner!:p sorry your husband is sick! I kind of feel like I am coming down with something, but think it may just be the lack of sleep. sorry the weight hasn't moved the way you want it to, but great job on sticking with your workouts!

eva-- glad to hear that you had a nice weekend:D. that upper body/core workout sounds good. I am liking all the core work that shiva rea has in her yoga dvds-- it is a nice change of pace from cathe. anyway, good to hear from you:)

hello renee! how are things today?

will try and check back in before work tonight.

katie

two posts from me in a row! miss you guys!

today I did LIC total body sculpt premix plus 40 minutes of yoga-- standing balance evolution from shiva rea-- and a long walk with the dogs. anyway, weather is gorgeous here again and nygel had a cello lesson today. stopped at whole foods and bought the makings of black bean soup, so about to start that now:). hope everyone is doing well!

peace,

katie

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for holding down the fort, Katie. ;) Hope you are well. BB soup sounds delicious! I made a chickpea curry this evening for dinner. It must have been beans day! Did you use canned beans, or did you speed cook the black beans? I've had mixed results with the latter when I don't soak them overnight. I hope you had a better night of sleep last night. I finally checked out some of the Shiva Rea clips on youtube. She has a fantastic physique. I'm so intrigued at the upper body definition you can get by doing yoga. ART has a lot of plank work, and it's definitely working well for me...I'm getting great definition without a lot of heavy weights. ART definitely uses weights, but there is a lot of bodyweight work too, and that is relatively new for me.

Ladylep, I forgot to thank you for the raw peach pie recipe that you posted. Thanks for taking the time to type that up for me. I put it in my online recipe database and I look forward to making it soon. I'm still craving something yummy with peaches. I eat one every day, but I'd like to make a dessert thing too! I was thinking of making a coconut milk ice cream with roasted peaches. I might also buy a bunch and make some low-sugar freezer jam to put on my yogurt in the fall/winter. Have a safe trip and an awesome vacation!

Renee, hope you are doing well.

Today was a rest day for me, although I did go for a walk during lunch, it was only about 1 mile.

I decided to cancel my Cathe pre-order. I may get some of the downloads, but I have not gotten any more excited about this set, even with the descriptions, so I guess I would rather have the refund at this point. I'm a little sad to be on a Cathe hiatus, but I'm glad that I have some workouts that I am enjoying. I feel like I'm "cheating" on her, though, which is crazy, but that's how I feel. I've been with Cathe for what seems like forever.

Take care,
Eva

Hi ladies!!

I jogged 30 minutes after work and then I did disk 2 of x train bis and tris

Lady Lep my goodness I do not get tabata out often!! It scares me still!

Eva that's sad u canceled the order! Lol I do understands giving it a rest for now though, I think it won't be long and u will be at her again!

Katie u ever try Elion Finn? I think is his name ? Happy hips?

Also I think I asked you all did u try STS before? I am actually excited because I got the 36 disk set for 120 !! Daily deal and with 15% off!! I'd love to hear if any of u liked it?

Hi Renee,
I did STS last year and I had good results. I did not lose any weight, per se, but I definitely increased my muscle tone dramatically, particularly biceps, triceps, shoulders and quads. I also got more definition in my abs and my rear perked up a little bit. I was thrilled with my results.

I had only lifted sporadically before STS, although I have done a round of P90X, but that was years and years ago. I was a one hour a week kind of gal when it came to weights, if that. I really loved STS. I was excited about the workouts, never found them boring, and really looked forward to them. I will definitely do another round at some point...

I did not really do the STS cardio religiously, I just rotated whatever cardio I wanted to do on any given day. If I do it again, I'll probably do 3 days STS, 2 days cardio and 1 day yoga. You will get sore and you will get tight as you're building muscle. I tried to do more HIIT than steady state, though, as that is supposed to complement a muscle building program better, and Cathe designed the system that way for a reason.

The other thing about the workouts is that they are a solid hour per day, give or take a few minutes, so you just have to plan accordingly. That meant I had to move days around sometimes, but I stuck to the 12 week schedule and took the active recovery weeks in between, so it was a 14 week program.

Enjoy it. STS was probably the most "fun" fitness project I've experienced. It's an amazing program and Cathe really set the bar higher than ever with that one.

If you have any specific questions, I'll try to answer them.

Eva

hi girls--
late post from me-- long, exhausting day! alec and imala had picture day at their school and then meetings with the school g/t coordinator trying to iron out schedules for this year. then came home, had lunch and walked the dogs before heading to the co-op to give a cookie demo. I do work for liz lovely on occasion-- she makes vegan and gluten free cookies. anyway, that time went by pretty slowly as the store was quite dead. glad to be home!

this morning I did afterburn-- still hate those spider man climbers!-- and then did shiva rea's sacred heart yoga.

eva and renee-- sts sounds like it would be good for me, too, but think I will stick with what I am doing for a while. happy for you, renee, that you got a great deal on it! hope you guys had a good day!

renee I have not tried elion finn-- you like him?

hello ladylep!

happy almost Friday! (even though it will be a working weekend for me!:p)

katie

Eva thanks on ur take on STS! Not sure if I start tomorrow or not, I may try.

Katie I have not tried him yet I ordered the happy hips, I have been adding tamel dodge or kathy smith or shiva Rae for 30 minutes after my wo it is nice! I heard alot of good things on him!!

Today i did another 30 minute jog.

Renee, definitely invest the time to do the 1 rep max before you start STS. That is an important part of making the program work for you so that you get optimum results. You can use that as your workout for the day, since it is a full-body workout just to get them done. You might even want to split it up and do all of the upper body 1RM and then some cardio, and then the lower 1RM or some cardio, or whatever...but do try to find the time to do them as they become the foundation of the entire program. I also encourage you to read through the materials that Cathe provided. STS is a little more involved than doing a rotation, or whatever, so I think taking the time to get set up properly will pay off in the end.

Congrats on the run again yesterday! Are you going to keep running when you do STS? I have seen others report amazing results with that combination.

Happy Friday to you too, Katie!

Today is a cardio day for me, I think I'm going to do that Studio Mixx workuot and then a section of Strong Strides, which is a toning workout I just got but have not opened yet.

hi girls-- this morning I did pyramid hiit and then 35 minutes of daily energy yoga with shiva rea. my quads have been a bit sore, so the yoga helped stretch them out:). nice day again here and I have errands to run before a dinner party at my niece's house tonight who *still* has not had her baby-- I think she is close to 42 weeks!

renee-- great job on your jogs! will be excited to hear how you like sts! great that eva can offer so much help and advice with that:)

hello eva-- sounds like you have a fun workout planned! I always like trying something new.

hello ladylep!

have a good weekend if I am not on here-- working both days, so may be m.i.a. until Monday.

peace,

katie
