Taking it to the Max-- June 2013 thru...

Long post got eaten and I don't want to retype it.

Suffice it to say...
Hi Katie! I hope you guys had a nice birthday evening with Nygel.

Renee, good luck on the potential job and congrats to your friend. I'm happy for her!

Melissa, sorry you are feeling kind of blah about your workouts and the whole scene with your diet/clothing. Sigh.

Ladylep, I think you'll like that rotation, and hopefully it will fit into your schedule. You can always do as much as you can on any given day...you don't have to finish every workout if you just don't have time. Maybe some of the shorter pre-mixes would be a good match for you.

Today I did ART Upper Body. I'm a little sleep deprived so it was a slog, but I did it. I still need to do my add ons...trying to motivate now.

BTW, did you all pre-order? I think I remember that you did, Renee, but I cannot remember what everyone else did. I did, at the last minute, although now I wish I didn't. But once they get here, hopefully I'll enjoy them.

hi girls! long day again here and really tired-- sounds like others are not getting much sleep, either. anyway, I got up and did 58 minutes of shiva rea more daily energy. that was good for me today-- this schedule is so intense. wanted to leave a bit early today, and then nygel's trio ended up performing in a master class-- which was good to see, but then we get home late and I am trying to get stuff done around the house and make lunches for tomorrow and it's like the whole night slips away. anyway, nygel had a good bday yesterday and said he got everything he wanted:). we will celebrate with family on sunday after the faculty concert and then just one more week of this schedule.

eva-- way to go for keeping up with your w/o even when you haven't slept well and your energy was low-- I know the feeling:eek:. hope you got your extra challenges in-- I have a feeling you did! I also preordered and am looking forward to some new w/o's to have when I have more time this summer.

renee-- great job on the aolih! you are getting stronger still, see? I am excited to updates, too, though many happened while our power was out so I had plenty to catch up on! I hope they finish filming soon so we get the dvds still during summer!

ladylep-- I don't think I could do all raw unless I had the money to eat at ecopolitan-- my favorite restaurant in mpls, all vegan all raw-- everyday. I am just too lazy for all the prep work. I think it's great the amount that you do, and I think you should cut yourself some slack on one of your favorite holidays:). enjoy yourself and you can get back on it the next day. great job on the w/os. I think eva is right in saying that you can do as much as you are able to any day and you will still be doing good for yourself.

Melissa-- the vegan carrot cake was yummy! they sell them at whole foods from the Chicago diner. amazing vegan desserts, truly. hope you are feeling better today!

alright, I am going to go sit on the couch for about an hour before heading to bed. It seems like I just can't keep my eyes open past 10:00 anymore.

peace,
katie

Thanks, Katie and Eva for the words of encouragement. I ended up getting all of Legs Premix 1 done, which was the basic program plus rear delts. I'm not sure what's on tap for tomorrow, but I hope I can get it in.

As for eating, I had my large fruit smoothie for breakfast, avo with hummus and hot sauce for lunch, a banana for a snack and I made a yummy dinner of yellow squash (spiral sliced) with tomatoes, a handful of my basil :) 2T pine nuts, 2T olive oil (could have used way less), 2 cloves of garlic and salt. It was yummy! Even B(6) tasted it and liked it! I don't feel the chocolate craving tonight. I even made homemade dounts for the first time for the kids today and didn't have any! Oh, I have had 2 dates with almond butter. I may have more before I go to bed because I feel a little hungry. I'm also thinking about fresh strawberries with maple syrup!

I got my monthly friend today and the cramps have been minor. They are picking up a little but not too much. Tomorrow will be the worst hopefully with flow and cramps. Tomorrow is also my WW weigh in evening, hopefully that will go well too.

I took a picture of my dinner, but I can't seem to send it from my iMac, I'l have to try from my iPad.

Hi Melissa and Renee!

Hi Girls,

No workout for me yesterday! I was so miserable and crabby. I ate a double scoop of ice cream which made me feel better!

I am hoping to do something today besides art. Maybe now that my hip is much better I can manage. I wonder if I need more impact.

I am glad you are all on track.

Renee your pic looks great!

Melissa

I did muscle max upper body last night!b loved it! Today I think I'll do lower body blast I think is the name it has an orangy color to it.? Anyway I need to work legs but want cardio to son that will kill two birds with one stone.
I had a shake today. It was good it was plant based protein powder chocolate flavor almond milk frozen banana, 5 blue berries and 5 raspberries!! yum yum that's what was for dinner. Now I think I'll have another for snack if I get to wanting to eat something sweet again.

Good job on eating lady Lep!

Katie I thought since school was out ud be able to have more free time!

Eva yes I preordered and can't wait. I wonder y they quit with updates seems since sat it has not been alot of updates.

I feel bloated today to cause of ttom Melissa gave it to me I guess! Lol

hi girls! another busy day today and no time off for the holiday:(, so kind of quick post from me (yes, bravo still meets tomorrow-- and Friday, etc., can you believe?). anyway, got up and did cardio supersets and it actually felt much easier today-- wonder if this is from me just doing yoga in between my cathe w/o's which means more energy, or if I am just getting used to those dang slow mountain climbers:eek:. anyway, added 16 minutes of shiva rea core yoga. tomorrow will just be yoga and then will do a HiiT on Friday.

renee and ladylep-- I love smoothies, too! it is my favorite summer food, actually-- I always have one for breakfast and often will have the same for dinner.:D

ladylep-- enjoy your special day tomorrow! great job on your eating!

renee--yay for your w/o's! sorry you are feeling bloated:(. I always feel that way with my totm, too.

Melissa--sorry for your crummy day yesterday, but glad the ice cream helped! I think we all deserve a treat sometimes! hope you got in your w/o today and things are looking up!

hello eva! hope you are having a good day, too!

enjoy the holiday tomorrow everyone! hope the rest of you have it off and nice plans for the weekend. I work Saturday, too, but am looking forward to nygel's bday party with family on sunday (except that it means I also need to clean this house before then!)

hugs,

katie

Hello!

Today Jeremy and I went to see a movie and had dinner after work, so no real workout for me today. I did get in a 2 mile walk at lunch time, and some trodding around after dinner though.

No exciting plans for the holiday, as he and I both have to work on Friday, but that's ok by me. I'm looking forward to a mellow day tomorrow.

Melissa, I am glad your hip is feeling better! Sounds like you're missing your more intense workouts...what do you think you'll put on tap? Are you going to do a Cathe workout or do one your runs. Ice cream sounds delicious! :) I don't know if we ever really need more impact, per se, but it sounds like you are craving some intensity. :D

Ladylep, glad you are doing well. I hope your WW meeting went smoothly. Enjoy your holiday cheat day tomorrow! Sounds like you should have some extra points for the week since you've been eating raw for several days, enjoy all those yummy foods. My sister is having a family BBQ on Saturday, so that's when I'll be eating some potato salad and chicken wings with the fam. Looking forward to it, as my mom will make her traditional foods in her special way that makes them super yummy, since I don't eat them often.

Renee, how was LBB? I like that workout, and have not done it in ages. Do you do the leg drills that come with it? I've never done those, but will probably check them out at some point.

I just ordered this new workout set called Cardio Karate. It's a 14 disc set that is based around karate/kickboxing workouts. I'm probably going to sell my Les Mill Combat set since I only ever do the 60 minute workout. The others are too short for me to really bother with them, but this new set has mostly 50+ minute workouts, which is more my speed.

Katie, interesting that your performance on CSS was much better. Is there a lot of plank work in your yoga workouts? Those mountain climbers never get easier for me, but I did notice that the last time I did Afterburn, I performed better than I thought I would, considering I have not done that workout in ages. Maybe that's the secret. My ART workouts are not as huffy and puffy, but I definitely am getting a good workout, and I'm still including 1-2 days of intense cardio to keep my endurance up.

I take my measurements again tomorrow, hopefully they are moving in the right direction. I weighed myself the other day and I've not lost a pound, but I am looking better. My bum is a little perkier, my shoulders and arms are looking more defined, and my tummy is less bloaty...but I've been really strict with my eating the last two weeks too.

Take care,
Eva

Eva Lower body blast seemed harder then cardio leg blast to me! I am not sure y!! I did not do the barre part I did standing and floor with cardio blast ! It was fun but hard to get through I made it to 46 minute mark and had to stop, had to go pick up a friend and was running late. I was ok with it lol I was sweating god. I think maybe cause the weight routine was longer and cardio was short cause if I don't do cardio longer the weights I feel more stiff and harder to get moving after weights but I did descent I guess.

Quick update, I got in tabatacise premix 12 today! I have never tried to do more than level 1, today I did 1 and 2 plus, burn sets back and core! Tomorrow is AOLIH with burn sets shoulders. I hope I can get it in. But we have 41 people coming of tomorrow, lots of pick up (much is paper piles), some cleaning, food prep: 40 burgers to make and my avocado dip. We have gotten Bubba burgers int he past but they are 11 points!! The 93% lean beef was on sale at whole foods so I got 13 pounds! And decorating. Party doesn't start until 4, so we have time, but still a lot to do.

I lose 1.2 pounds this week. :). Hopefully I can keep it going. I have 13.4 pounds until I don't have to pay anymore. Eight weeks until the last Wednesday in August. My goal is to lost it and be free by then. That will be tough.

Eva- I'd be curious about your workout collection. You seem like you have/get a lot! I thought I had a lot with 22 or so I think Cathe workouts, 5 The Firm wo and a rebounder one. :)

Hi Renee, Melissa and Katie! Happy Fourth!

Lady Lep that's great!!! So did the raw food contribute to the loss last week? How is WW ? I thought about it before but thought it was a pain to go to the meetings! Lol. I would like to get the points calculator!

Happy 4th of July!

I'm checking in with an ART lower body workout today. I did my measurements this morning and I'm down .25" in left thigh, none on right thigh, down .25" inches on waist and .25 down on hips since last week. I'm doing a happy dance!!

Renee, I did WW online a few years ago, and you don't have to go to the meetings. You get access to the food diary/counter system, an online community, recipes and tons of information. I liked it alot. I think it was $10 a month or something? I cannot remember but it was not expensive and was definitely a good investment for me.

Ladylep, I do have quite a few workouts, but not as many as some! I belong to the videofitness board and there are ladies on there with hundreds of workouts. I have about 20 Cathe workouts + STS, LIS and XTrain, I have Les Mills Combat series, 2 Doonya dance workouts, a couple of Zumbas, 3 Michelle Dozois workouts, 2 Leah Sarago barre workouts, 1 Tracy Mallet booty barre workout, 6 Tonique workouts, Hip Hop Abs, P90X, 2 Ilaria Montagnani workouts, a Brazilian Dance workout, Tracy Anderson Mat workout, the Ultimate Yogi set, 3 horizontal conditioning workouts, 1 Pump It Up dance workout, and Amy Dixon breathless body. I have others, but the ones above are the ones I actually will do. I have more that I have stored in my garage to donate to the library...there are bout 20-25 of those, on VHS. I also do YouTube workouts from Leslie Sansone and Jessica Smith. I have all of these because I get bored very easily, and my body seems to quickly adapt to things and then stops making progress, so I have found that I need to mix it up.

The ART rotation I'm doing now is all online workouts. I subscribe for $7 per month and get dozens of workouts, and the trainer is very active in her private Facebook group and chats and answers questions, which is helpful. Those are my favorite for now, and those are the ones that I'm doing and tracking results for currently. Melissa has been doing ART too. :) Oh, and congrats on dropping 1.5 pounds.YEAH!!!!

Ok, I'm off to go plant shopping. I really should not buy any more plants, but the nursery is having an awesome sale and I can't resist!!

Renee, your new photo is lovely. :) Very adorable.
Hi Melissa and Katie.

Me again...coming to be an enabler.

Total Fitness is having a sale this weekend, if anyone is interested in picking up some non-Cathe workouts.

I'm eyeballing a few, but thought you might be interested in this sliding disc workout, since there are not many of them on the market and Cathe does not really use that *that* much...mine sit idle quite a lot.

I am definitely going to order this, I've been stalking it waiting for this sale....Mindy Mylrea Gliding Extreme DVD.

Happy Fourth of July!

We had some family over or a cookout and set off some fireworks. The kids had fun! Me too.

Eva, what I had on tap is a bunch of nothing, I have gotten so lazy. I have eaten a lot too. I am tempted to get the subscription for art. I may just do the 24 hour downlaods. Anyhow, I should just do something. .25 is awesome!

Renee, Sorry about the bloat, lol! I am sending more your way! Just kidding.

Katie, That is great about your endurance, I think all the walking does more than we think.

Ladylep, Congrats on the weight loss, I think you sent it my way, accoring to Renee's way of thinking!

I really need to get motivated.

Melissa

Hi Melissa,

Glad you had a great cookout and time with your family. I'm looking forward to my belated celebration on Saturday with mine. :)

I give the ART workouts two thumbs up, and you might like them if you cycle through a few of them. The downloads that you buy are $1 for 24 hours, but a one month subscription is $6.99 and you can use the entire site for one month. I think that's a better deal, and if you do them for a month and don't like them, you don't have to renew.

I am currently doing the June challenge through the Facebook group, so that is contributing to my results. In addition to four ART workouts per week (she recommends that plus one day of pure cardio, for a total of 5 days), I am loosely following her eating guidelines. She recommends three meals per day that consist of a protein, a veggie and a fruit. She does not recommend any starchy carbs during the challenge. I am not following this religiously, but I am definitely watching what I eat. We report our losses in weekly, which helps keep people accountable. There are only three of us doing it religiously, and my results pale in comparison. One lady lost 2" off her waist in one week. So, if you stick to the program, it will work...I think I'm not getting those crazy results for several reasons, not the least of which is I'm already and advanced exerciser so I'm not going to have that kind of progress...ART has actually taken my workouts down a notch, not up. But the woman who is losing like crazy has been doing them since January, so who knows. I think she just cleaned up her diet a lot, whereas mine was already pretty clean.

Maybe the above noted observations will inspire you. :) Four weeks is not that long...:):):)

Hi all-

Happy belated Fourth! I got AOLIH in but not with the shoulders. But should have because the first people didn't show until an hour late! I ate a lot yesterday. But I tracked: a whopping 54 points, I should have only had 34. But I still have more allowance points to use if I wish.

Today I got in Hard Strikes premix 2 (?) with tris and core 1. It was 70 min long but took 85 with all the "kid interruptions". Better than not doing it all! I so wanted to quit before the conditioning and then again after the conditioning. I couldn't do everything in the conditioning or core work as she does it.

Eva- that FB group sounds inspiring. To post wt. losses and inches lost! How cool is that! I have taken measurements a lot, but not in at least a year.

Hi Renee, Melissa and Katie! Hope you're doing well! I'm off to shower and to a friend's pool for dinner. I found out last Friday (we were there then too) that another mom there (who I've known since high school, most of the adults I have known for that long) does WW online. This week I lost 1.2. :)

I did HS whole workout last night today I am thinking I may do cardio interval remix with Michelle. Not sure yet.

Eva I saw the 360 DVD oh michelles video on YouTube and i think it may be something u would like!! I may get it not sure yet. Looks very interesting!! It's her newer one.

Melissa hope u are doing better with eating this week!

Katie what did the family do for the4th?

Lady Lep sorry about going over your points!! I guess u could walk alot to help it counterbalance lol

Have a great day bbl for what I decide on my wo
It is raining hard here yet again

hi girls! super quick post from me-- sorry! have no time to read but wanted to say hello and happy belated 4th! we just got home from a full day at the u of m and are headed back for a concert that starts at 7:30. all three kids are performing in their chamber groups and they want to get there by 6:30 to rehearse (we just left there at 4:45!). anyway, time to head back out and I work tomorrow first half of the day. hopefully I will have time tomorrow between work and the concert to check in! today I got up and did intensity premix with the double HiiT and bootcamp. it is super muggy here, so it definitely felt sweaty and challenging! hope everyone has a great Friday night and hope to check in better tomorrow!

katie

Hello!

Funny, without seeing what you all have been up to, I also did Hard Strikes today! I was in a workout confusion state and that seemed to hit the spot. LadyLep, you did an awesome job finishing the entire workout. I did the main workout, and the tabatas, but I did not do the core work. Sounds like you're still on track with your eating as you are still loosing and you even have points left over. Good job!! Enjoy your pool party this evening. I do find the group pretty inspiring. It's nice to get such hands-on support from the trainer herself...she responds to all posts and is super encouraging. Apparently she's quite the celebrity trainer in NY. I did a search on her and she was one of the 10 most expensive trainers in the city. I feel kind of honored to have access to her directly for $7 per month! She's awesome. Very down to earth, and her workouts are very innovative. Having to post measurements definitely keeps you on point, that's for sure. It makes a big difference. It's the same kind of motivation that you get from WW. You know you have to be accountable to someone, so it keeps you on target.

Melissa, I hope you're doing well. Did you manage to squeeze in a workout today?

Katie, good to hear from you!! And kudos for getting in a workout today. I am sure I'd be using all that working as an "excuse" not to do any other workouts, so I really admire that you are so dedicated. :D Have fun at the concert this evening!

Renee, I do have that BodyFit 360 workout, and you are correct, I like it alot! I have been doing it on my rest day, and trying to alternate it with yoga, and I like it alot. It has a lot of yoga and pilates moves and is a fun workout for a light day. I wonder if you would like it? Did you like what you saw in the clip?

Take care,
Eva

Well I did super cuts tonight! I did good! Every rep at same speed it was not to bad! Love the music in that one. See I think the peak 10 interval cardio strength remix is way harder then super cuts! That's y I ordered the peak fit system I hear they are not as hard as the remix ones so it may be what I need to be as hard as Cathe but not as hard as remix ones , I want to try the 360 workout but afraid I won't like it but my instinct says it is different and fun. I am thinking, but I want to try the program I ordered first. I wish they'd ship it already!

Hi Everyone,

I should be banned from the thread. The only thing I take to the max is laziness and poor eating. You all are doing great.

Katie, We have such humid weather too! I don't know how you do it without ac. My parents have no ac, and we sit in front of fans.

Eva, Thanks for the tip about the month subscription. And, I agree about the results the others are having. Your loss is great, I think for an advanced exerciser, it is difficult to loose inches, even with changing up the routine. Why does it have to be soooo easy to slide backwards than forwards?

Hi Renee and Ladylep!

I am going to be fairly busy for the next week and will probably not checkin until Wednesday. By then I really hope to be back on track.

Have a good weekend.

Melissa
