Taking it to the Max-- June 2013 thru...

Katie oh my holy cow! 20 pounds on bis? !! You are a beast!! I can't even imagine! Maybe u should do a dvd with Cathe! Lol I am in awe way to go! No I didn't see what actually happened with the plane my boss was saying something about it. I still remember the one that went down or missing and I don't know if they even found it to this day. It was what six months maybe a year ago? I don't know y time is off I'm sure. But yes I am worried about what is going on now. I try not to watch news to much but I also try to watch it to keep up with what I need to. I think I can't live in the dark it at same time it is scary. I worry about how they have the border open now and they have amnesty for the immigrants that are here now. I mean I totally feel if people want to be here yes by all means but do it right. But the way it is now terrorist can come in and it is jist scary. People don't really see it as a big deal I guess. I don't know.
I have not done a workout today yet I am at KIa dealer now gettin oil changed on my car and it is almost 7 already. They take forever! Well at least it will be done! Work was good today to. My boss is funny little guy, just sitting there he makes me giggle. I don't know why. I guess cause he looks like a little fat hobbit. His belly is big and hat looking and he is short ands he is just really nice to his patients.. And he will kind of not him but make a bum bum by with his voice lol he is to cute! That's just him passing time and making noise I guess. Anyway it's good to be able to laugh one day he said something that almost made me fall out of my chair I laughed so hard. [emoji12]. I make him and his patients laugh to I love laughing

Okay I back ! I didn't get back from KIA till 730! The appointment for oil change and clean it was 5:30. I got home and did burn sets bi and tris. Tomorrow I'll do the rest of that one![emoji2] I love burn sets. I forgot how much I loved x train! Anyway I was not into exercise tonight at all when I started but I made myself do it. So once I got finished with bis and tris I felt really good and wanted to add some cardio but was afraid to hurt the foot so I saw AOLIH in the lovable xtrain case! It was calling my name! I did that one and thought I was only going to do 15 minutes but I did the whole thing since it is really a shirt one. I did sweat and I didn't hurt my knees or my feet! I feel pretty good. DH is out of town tonight and I am off work tomorrow so I hope to get my closest clean tomorrow and some really good workouts in. Low impact of course! I am doing better in eating so far to I have went down 2 pounds in two weeks. FINALY seeing something (scales) moving besides my boobs and belly! [emoji13].
I hope I am starting to get back to myself some what. I will never be the same as before I'm sure but at least have some kind of normalcy to live my life the way I know Ryan would want me to.

Two days off for me. I just needed rest and had too much going on I guess. I am still feeling the trisets lower body from Monday! But this morning I did LIS Cardio Supersets. This push ups and mountain climbers are hard! I wasn't dripping like I am with HiiT but it wasn't easy!

Katie- impressive on the wts for burn sets!!

Renee- such a bummer about your car!

I love burn sets too. I really want to try every wo from LIS before I move on to some rotation. I'm not sure if I'll do AfterBurn or trisets upper body tomorrow. AB scares me a little!

Okay today was hard strikes full workout but I skipped the last part. It was more sit ups and push ups five sets like I did yesterday at the end of that workout. AOLIH. Anyway I guess my headache creeped up on me today. It is strange it seems it comes on Friday or Saturday. Maybe cause I sleep longer in one of those days? It's strange.
Ladylep those push ups and mountain climbers are hard! I never can get all of them! I may revisit some of the LIS and do CSs and AB but I tell u when I did those and Xtrain I had back soreness but I think cause I have such weak core. Maybe I need to keep doing it. I think I may play around with LIS and Xtrain and add in HIIT series to once a week to see if that doesn't get me to lose some weight and pull in my waist!
It seems that they are so core intensive and butt intensive it should pull it all in if I watch my food intake.
No rotation for me either for now just something to play around with. Of course I do not like the music on LIS but I can use my own music I guess.
I have to say I dread AB cause it is super hard! It does scare me lol [emoji16]

Katie hope you are feeling good and hope you tried the socks! The hardest ricks never ever hurt my feet but today there were screaming and every time we stopped to punch I was so happy! It was a numb feeling. Ouch! Grr. So headache and feet ache. Well I'm still proud I did the workout despite all the problems !

hi girls! thanks for the compliments on the weights! I really think it was the LIHI lifting tapes that increased my strength, as I was never able to use 20s when I did the xtrain rotation-- not even towards the end of the 90 days-- I used 15s. today I did plyo hiit 2, abs 1 and yoga and I did use the socks! you know, renee, I think they do help! I just got the anklet style, but I think I may get the longer ones, as they are supposed to add even more support for plantar fasciitis. it is weird, because they just look like socks. anyway, me feet hurt a little, but the main thing was the hiit just felt super tough and I think it was because I didn't sleep last night very well.

renee-- great job on all your workouts! you got in a lot last night, and now again today. I wonder about hard strikes and how my feet would survive. I do want to do that one again. so sorry for the foot pain and headache! I dread afterburn, too-- always have, probably always will- and it is mainly due to all the horizontal work, especially the spider man crawlers, which I know are great for your core. oh well. congrats on your weight loss, too!

ladylep-- I do like cardio supersets and that one seems like a more manageable one compared to afterburn, but, yeah those mountain climbers are brutal! hope your boys are behaving themselves ;-).

I ended up doing LIS Step Express on the Cardio Supersets DVD for 32 min today. I was losing at all her step workouts: IMAX 2, BM2 (step only), Hardcore Extreme, Intensity Step only and PRS1&2, but wanted to stick with the LIS al long as I can. But I cans we where the music can start to get to you. I may do turbo barre tomorrow or yogamax or yoga relax. Depends on timing, I will be planting my garden tomorrow! Garden is almost read, just needed some more soil, which I bought today with all my seeds. So excited! We, JTrain, CDawg and I, weeding it all out, took about 1.5 hrs in 37° windy weather! But it is almost finished. Now to get them started on sorting the games in the basement, missing/broken pieces, everything needs to go back with its own game or thrown out.

I was doing well with my weight this week, small amounts of chocolate daily, but then yesterday it was a frustrating afternoon out Witt he kids, so I ate 1/3 dark chocolate bar. It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't had 3 small pieces of cake after dinner! So I'm up 3, I'm trying to go back to my only 1-2 smallish servings of starches/carbs per day.

Hi ladies..
I'm not sure what I am doing today. I am stuck between a step workout or attempting Afterburn since it is Sunday and it is the begging of my week. I figured y not hit it off with something that is challenging? Then tomorrow since I have to work I will do a 30 minute workout. We will see and I will post once I figure it out.
I wanted to ask have you guys heard of intermittent fasting and have u tried it? I was reading one lady who does it and her times to fast is 7 pm till 11 am and it sounded really doable. Then you eat what you eat with in the 8 hour window during the day. And by 7 you should have eaten all you are going to and not eat again till 11 the next day this gives your digestive system some rest and it burns the glycogen stores then fat and if you do it regularly it will teach the body to burn fat better while sleeping is the way I understand it is supposed to work. Well every day this week I have been attempting this. Well I always end up I am eating at 730 or one time I ate 8 then 9 it is night time eating that's my problem. I really think if I can disappoint myself it may actually make me feel better when I do wake up. I think that's why I feel like crap upon waking. I have a full belly I feel Oregon and I have a headache and had rotten nightmares. So maybe this can help you to Ladylep.
Some people fast for 24 hours but I am not sure I can do that so the intermittent fasting sounds more doable for me for now. Once I get that down then I may try the 24 hour fast. We'll see.

TurboBarre complete! Boy I really like that but it is long! I'm beginning to see what you mean about the music in LIS. I like it for TurboBarre, but it is the same for all of them I think except for the yoga ones.

Renee- I have tried intermittent fasting. It was ok, not getting the results, as usual... But I will tell you that I'm trying to go more simply on my food eating, not stressing about it. Last week I wouldn't eat after 7ish and then would wait until after my wo for my shake for breakfast (1c almond or cashew milk, frozen berries, 1/2 frozen banana, 1T ground flax seeds, 1t peanut butter, 1 scoop teraswhey protein powder-dark chocolate, and 1 scoop chocolate greens). I think that keeping "empty" for at least 8 hours is a good thing every day. But I'm trying not to be so hard and fast about it...but tracking!

Off to return skis and run some errands!
 
Quick check in: I did RWH low impact 2 at 9pm tonight, not my fave time to workout but we were in Philly all day. I took the train in with all the boys and went to the Academy of Natural Sciences. Fun time! Not sure what I'll do tomorrow, I feel I need to do upper body weights, maybe it will be LIS (1part but almost an hour) or RWH (2 parts, one almost and hour).

hi girls! sorry I have been off of here for a few days. the weekend was absolutely packed and crazy with stuff for the kids. I ended up taking both sat and sunday off, which wasn't so bad, since I worked out for 7 days straight the week before (I knew I probably wouldn't get one in this weekend and planned for it). anyway, yesterday I did athletic training. that kicked my butt! at least the first third of it did, anyway! I can't decide what to do today now. I am thinking maybe cardio supersets, or both low impact HiiTs. thinking I may stay away from plyo/impact for another day or two. the kids are on spring break, so have everyone in the house while I am trying to sweat. it is nice to have them here and the week off, though!

sounds like you had a good day yesterday, ladylep! I don't think I could workout at that time of night! I am usually about ready to fall asleep by 9:30 :p. anyway, great job on still getting that in!

renee-- I have not tried that fasting. I have always agreed that we shouldn't eat after 7 pm as, when we do, our bodies are digesting all night instead of resting, but I also think you should eat something in the morning to break the fast-- even if it is just an apple or something. also, I know it is good to drink two full glasses of water on waking-- before brushing your teeth or anything.

better go figure out my workout!

Got in LIS trisets upper premix 30 min chest shoulders triceps. It was hard! I kept up with Cathe for all the wts but couldn't on the push-ups most were done on my knees.

Oh my word, we are terrible parents! 3 kids on sports teams, 4 baseball and one volleyball. Missed Tryouts for CDawg and his first practice last night!! We feel terrible.

Kids are not off but we only have 2.5 days this week.

Katie I was thinking of doing cardio supersets today as well! I wanted to try that with the premix of the step included I have never done that one. I did the express premix before. But not the workout as is then the step that will be a long one and I figured that one can be my long workout for the week since I am off on Tuesdays and I need low impact as well! Seems to fit the bill as long as I can ignore how much I hate that dang music! I don't think I can't mute the music on this one because I have to hear her cues. Ugh. I really wish Cathe would do Afterburn 2 and cardio supersets 2 with some music like x train or party rocking step and rock out knock out music and if she thinks some wouldn't like it do like she did before and have the options for instrumentals! Gosh I love LIS but do not do it because it is hard to do and if I have hard workouts I need that extra push lol.
My question to u is how long have u been drinking water in the morning? And did you see a difference and what was the difference? I just read this ! I never really heard it before. I'd love to hear your comment on this!

Lady Lep good job on Tri sets and doing Cathes weights! Ouch!! That is awesome! Cathe is a monster when It comes to push ups lol when she says push ups? I just realize she is going to stay on the floor for....? Ever? So I know I will attempt a set on my toes then go to my knees. If I don't just plan on it I feel like a big failure! I really wish she would do a few sets and tell us how many and let it be attainable so I can feel strong enough to get there [emoji2]!
You are not bad parents, lol you just have a lot of events and sports to keep up with! Will they let him tryout anyway? Or is that it? I hope they let him. How does he feel about missing it? Is he upset?
Okay now for what I did Sunday I wanted to do an hour workout but I wanted some good music and I wanted a hard one but not mix it up on the step cause I may fall off and brake a neck! [emoji16]. So I did imax3 no last premix 30 minutes it was steady state of really awesome music! John Bon Jovi, and old school stuff tainted love! Loved it but I didn't want the blast cause I know it would kill the feet and knees. So then I decided I wanted to do high intensity but not high impact so insert Afterburn!!! [emoji13]. I can handle it for the premix of everything once all the way through it was still a sweaty one I was red and sweaty and the music didn't bother me to much cause I only had to do the moves once through! So as long as I concentrate on the moves through once I don't listen to it but if I have to go through it two times? Ouch!? Yeah that's when I needed the music to drive me but no need to worry the premix helped that!! lady Lep you may enjoy this one ! It was 30 minutes I think, anyway all together I guess I had a little over an hour and I was happy! Endorphins was soaring high! And last night church people came to practice singing with my son and his guitar! I am happy about that! He is getting back into talking to people again since my other son past away and he is getting back into church again. That is a blessing. Anyway I didn't get a workout in till late either! It was 10 pm!! So I understand how you feel Ladylep lol got to get it in. I am glad I'm off today though. If I had to work today? I would not have done it.
It was Kelly Coffey Meyers muscle up I did the workout 2 it was legs and arms. Arms being the bus and tris. It was really good you do only 8 reps and two sets so you can really go heavy heavy!! So I decided to go for it and I got in 15 pounds on my biceps!! Yeah me! 8 pounds for triceps! Today like I said I am thinking doing cardio supersets.

Popping in quickly to talk about water. I used to get 40 oz in before lunch but that hasn't happened in a while. I at least try to get in 16oz before breakfast. Today it was 8 oz during my workout and 8 just now. Yesterday I did 24 while in the city from 9-4. Then another 32 before and after dinner. Then 16oz of pelligrino. So yesterday was 72oz of water and pelligrino. I aim for 80 but I should be doing min 85 because I'm up to 170# now. [emoji20][emoji20][emoji20] I feel like it keeps me fuller and I'm not thirsty during the day when I do that. But I don't know if there is another more significant reason.

Raisin bread got me yesterday. I put it in the freezer so it wouldn't be staring at my while I'm fixing s meal!

Well yesterday I did it completed the CSS extreme premix! The one with step added! I can't believe i did it! The problem I have is the mountain climbers! I can never get them all! And the step portion by the time I got to there I thought it was a choreographed section [emoji20] no it wasn't it was 32 leg lifts off the side and what??!! Ouch I had to pause fast and get water! Lol but I kept going after that. It was hard so if anyone thinks CSS is intermediate then do the extreme and it will make it more advanced I think but then again I am not up to advanced as a lot of you Cathletes are!
Well I was wondering about what would be the effects of drinking water the first thing in the morning on a regular bases. I drink water a lot now but I drink coffee in the morning and thought it would make me sick to drink water first thing but I read an article it helps with circulation and all so I am thinking of trying it so I drank 8 ounces to start this morning. So that was what I was asking; what if any difference you can tell in what u feel like by drinking it in the morning upon rising ?

So today I have to work. So it will be a 30 minutes session tonight probably something KCM related and cardio again. Not sure what yet. Humm

hi girls. so, I got hit with a miserable cold yesterday afternoon after my workout. I did do cardio supersets and wondered why it felt so horrible, but I think that was it. my throat started throbbing just after I was finished, and then by last night the body aches and congestion came. blech. I still got my workout in today since I don't have a fever. I did low impact hiit 2 plus bryan kest yoga for weight loss. I am hoping I feel better tomorrow as this really stinks, especially since it is actually nice out-- was 84 degrees today.

Generally speaking, people rush to drink water when it’s hot out or after we’ve been physically active. Those are good times to drink water, but the best time, and the one most people are missing out on, is in the morning. First thing in the morning, that is, on an empty stomach.
After 10 years of coaching friends, family, and clients about healthy habits and practices, water drinking always finds its way into any good conversation about health. Not only are our bodies comprised of 70% water, but so is the earth and almost every other living thing on earth. They all are 70% water and more. Water is king.
What I’m talking about is what is now known as water therapy in some healing circles. Essentially it’s large amounts of water immediately after awaking on an empty stomach. This consists of up to 1.5 liters or so of water upon waking. You should never break a fast with starch or heavy carbohydrates. Liquids are the best way to break a fast, and water in the morning is your best bet to get some real great health benefits!
You have to think of your body while sleeping as being in a state of fasting where it is also repairing itself. An empty stomach allows for more energy to be allocated to the healing and reparation process that your body is going through while sleeping. You don’t ever want to compromise these effects by eating heavy meals before bed nor by eating heavy meals upon waking up.
Water in the morning
  1. Drinking water on an empty stomach in the morning purifies the colon and allows for better absorption of nutrients in your system.
  2. To help with weight loss, drinking at least 16 oz. of water in the morning can boost your metabolism by up to 24%.
  3. Water in the morning hydrates your cells at a superior rate after hours of fasting (sleeping). The rush of hydration to the cells helps in production of blood and muscle cells.
  4. The high dosages of water help to purge the system of toxins through the bowels and will leave you with glowing skin.
  5. It helps to flush and balance your lymphatic system which leads to increased immunity, helping you fight a variety of illnesses.
I’ve had a lot of my coaching clients complain to me about how hard it is for them to drink water upon rising in the morning. For a lot of people, they’ve already established a lifelong habit of eating breakfast first thing in the morning. Creating a new morning ritual of drinking water is one that is healthy and super beneficial to your overall long term health care. It is especially an easy way to detoxify your system without having to make major changes to your lifestyle.

I try to do this and I think it does help when I stick to it, though this morning with my sore throat, I couldn't stand the thought of drinking a bunch of water down. if nothing else, I do think it keeps you healthier-- this is the first sickness I have had basically since all of winter.

great job on the long workout, renee! it was the mountain climbers that I felt I might drop to the floor on, but I got them all in. I don't think I could have ever done that step segment afterward, though!

ladylep-- you are a great mom, from what I see here, so cut yourself some slack. you do so much with your boys, I think it is really remarkable. great job on the workouts, too.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Katie! It's so hard being a parent!! Thanks for the water info. When I'm conscience about it, I can easily drink 16oz, especially if I workout, before breakfast.

I actually went back to Shaun T this morning! I know I said I wouldn't but I was looking for 30 min of intense and I looked at a bunch of Cathe's and nothing fit the bill. I was looking for intense step that wasn't HiiT, although, Max Out Sweat may have been a HiiT. He used the Lord's name in vain again, in the first minute! What is the deal? (Did I already vent about this??) I may do another of his tomorrow, I don't know. I actually liked today's wo, some moved I hated and some I liked.
 
Lady Lep I have not noticed Shawn T used the Lords name in vain before in insanity!! Wow I hope he didn't anyway I wouldn't like that. No I never heard u mention that before. But as far as getting him out nothing wrong with doing Shawn T lol ! I still have the insanity series and I have not pulled any of those out but I'm sure if they was only 30 minutes I might! I mean I wouldn't mind adding him into my rotation just not everyday. Just gets boring, well insanity did.
Have you ever tried any of Kelly Coffey DVDS? She has one outbox I want called cardio power I think? It is boxing and kickbox for 30 minutes and the second workout is total body pyramid weight workouts! I think it looks good! I like adding her on the days I have not much time to workout!
Thanks for the article on the water in the morning!! Yes that was what I was wondering! It was helpful. It was a lot plainer and simply put then the other things I was reading I am trying to implement it into my mornings. I am only doing 8 ounces to start lol. I'll get more in next week!
Today I did Amy bentos hi low kickboxing because it had some great music in it! Awesome awesome! It was like a jog to me! It was over an hour however!! Thank goodness the office is closed today so we are off! Yeah !! I sweated good the only thing is my left knee I had to modify the pendulums! I love those things! So fun but the outside of my knee is what I have to be careful with. If I turn and torque it or put all my weight on it leaning over like in a pendulum it pulls and feels like I might tear something!!! Eek I don't want to do that so I just jogged with high knees. [emoji53]. And there was one hopping on one leg and swinging the other out like a flying angel or something I had to be careful on that so I hopped on both legs to that side and I still sweated good. So I guess since it was fun it was not like I wasted time! Last night I did a quick KCM 30 kickboxing.
Tomorrow I think I'll do Muscle max! Yeah !!

Insanity Max 30: Max Out Strength today, no cursing. Yay! Lots of push up and various kind of push ups. I stink at push ups! But there we're some exercises that I did like, but I forget what they are!

In month on there wasn't any cursing except for in Friday Fight Round 1 and it was once maybe twice. He said oh my goodness a lot And I like that! I say that! But the second month videos, not the same. Day 1, he said oh my G in the first 60 seconds!! And a binch more. Day 2 more of the same. I am disappointed. I need to call them back and see of they will still take it back. It was already past 30 days, now it's 2.5 weeks later, but they ever sent the email on how to return it...

Period came today, very crampy and tired. Not sure if I'll get a wo in tommorow, I'm not sure if I'll have it in me to do Friday Fight Round 2.

It is worth a try.. If you are not going to use them much and u do not enjoy them is try to see about sending them back for sure! Also if they don't maybe sell them on amazon or eBay or graigslist for what you paid for it. I have seen people do that and get every penny back. If it is in good condition! If u try it and it doesn't sell drop in price about five dollars it will sell then.

hi girls. still pretty sick here and was up most of the night with congestion and this sore throat, but did LIHI chest bis and shoulders. not sure what I will do tomorrow, but will be in a rush yet again. will probably end up doing low impact hiit 1 as it will fit my schedule and my feet would not like plyo, I don't think.

ladylep-- I would think they would take them back, or like renee suggested, sell them on ebay/craigslist. sounds like you are doing great with workouts, though!

renee-- that sounds like a fun workout! I haven't tried any of those workouts. glad the water info was helpful!
