STS first time!

Holy smokes I've been so busy today!:eek: Today's workout was Afterburn. I was thinking of you when I was high on my endorphins Jean! Carolyn's right, if only more people realized that feeling everyone would be scrambling to workout! It's Nature's Prozac!:D

Welcome back Betty! Your trip sounds awesome. I love Italian food, too! Authentic food is so much better than what we get here in the US. What's called Italian, Mexican, or Chinese wouldn't even be recognizable to folks from those countries. That's too bad about the smoking and litter, although I've heard that before so it wasn't too shocking to me. Didn't Italy have a big issue not too long ago where trash was building up in the streets due to a garbage collectors's strike or something like that? Hmm, I may be remembering that wrong. I hope you got a good nap in today! I get SO tired when I travel. It's like I need several days to recoup!

News for me...we may be taking a trip to Florida with the kids this summer. Disney! It's not for sure yet, my sister is a travel agent and is looking at flights for us so we haven't booked it yet. I'm so excited! It's been over a year since we went anywhere!

Marie- I got nervous for you with Slide and Glide and then I saw you had finished it and was okay. I got this vision of you slipping on the discs! Okay, okay...the paranoid girl who sees danger at every turn strikes again!:eek: Be careful though! I think my mom would have had a heart attack if I had worked out when I was pregnant. I remember we went boating on the Mississippi that summer when I was pregnant with Lydia and she freaked out. She thought for sure something was going to happen:rolleyes:.

Missy- I've never heard of that system before. I wonder if you posted asking about it on VF if you could get some feedback. That's always the place for answers regarding home workouts!

Good Evening! I was extremely busy today!!! And, now I am exhausted.

I did 45 minutes in the elliptical and I am calling it a day! I am going to shower and go to bed.

Good Morning!

I had some terrible insomnia last night, actually early morning, just couldn't get back to sleep. So I finally got up and did Intensity. I was a sweaty mess but now I feel much better. I'll probably pass out later in the day.

Betty, welcome back! Your trip sounds fantastic! And the food! I'm surprised there was so much smoking there still, you'd think they would all know about the health risks by now. And dog poop, yuck!

Full day today, basketball this morning, then softball and soccer. At least its a beautiful day! Have a good one!
 
No workout for me today. We slept in and then cleaned up around the house. Think we will head to Caribou in a bit and then we have the Twins game tonight with Tony's mom and her husband. Should be fun! Colleen- You are so sweet. Thanks for your concern :) Tony gets all nervous too when I do any working out actually. I keep telling him its good for the baby and the dr says its ok. Jean- My massage was amazing! It felt a little strange laying on my side as they don't let preg women lay on their back or tummy but it was great. She worked my knots hardcore. I get nasty tension in my neck and shoulders. She said I should stretch and apply heat daily especially to my neck. We will see if I keep that up. Have a good day everyone :)
 
Whoo hoo! I'm so psyched you loved the workout Carolyn! Yay!:D Isn't it crazy how much your core gets worked without doing any traditional ab work? Fun stuff! I would totally love it if Cathe made a workout similar to this. I know she's not big on kettlebells but she could make it similar to how the modifier does it in Burn and Build. I noticed in LIS she was experimenting with some kettlebell-like movements.

Speaking of Cathe I'm getting SO antsy for the new workouts! I hope everything goes smoothly with filming and editing so we can get them in our hot little hands sooner rather than later!!

Today was a rest day for me. Actually, I'm at work right now just finishing a quick bite to eat before I take off since I don't have any more patients scheduled. I'd better get my butt out of here before they decide to take in a straggler!:eek: Gotta go enjoy that nice Saturday afternoon weather we're having!

Good Evening! Well I have been busy today!

I did go straight to bed last night. Went to sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow!!!

Today, I have been doing barn chores! I did go do Zumba with an instructor I love. She lives 1 hr away and she came to town to fill in for another instructor. I had a blast! I also, just finished 4DS-Bootcamp!!! This was my first time doing Bootcamp, and it was awesome!!!!

Carolyn---So glad you liked the new DVD. I will have to look into that. :)

Okay...off to shower. Be back tomorrow. I will be home all day!!!
 
Oh...Colleen---I am getting antsy too! I ordered the DVD's the first day she opened the pre orders. I just can't wait!!!!!!!

I am a fitness nut!!!!!! I just love exercising, but I absolutely love buying exercise stuff!!!!! It is always exciting waiting on something in the mail!!!!!!!:p
 
Happy Mother's Day everyone!

I can't believe I am in my last week of STS! I did disc 34 - Chest & Back this morning. Who would have thought going back to 8 reps would be such a challenge! But I did it. I am going to miss STS when its all done and I'm already wondering what I will do after. I've never done rotations before but during STS found that I really like the structure of it. I'll have to do something with LIS, I really miss those.

Waiting for my girls to make me pancakes this morning. I'm hoping they'll go for a walk with me later, and I promised to take my oldest out driving to practice parallel parking. She's getting ready for her license test.

I agree about buying fitness equipment, we all need things to look forward to, and its such a healthy investment.

Jean---please be careful with your shoulder!!! I hurt mine several months ago too....I thought it was all better, I worked it really hard yesterday and today my bad (left) shoulder is very sore/painful. I just iced it. So, just start out with light weights and work your way up. I hope it gets better quick!!!:confused:

Happy Mother's Day ladies!
Today I got breakfast in bed!:) Mark and I always do that for each other for Mother and Father's day. Dylan wrote another card for me that Mark helped to dictate. It went "we love mom because..." and then you open the card and it was all "because she takes care of us and washes our dirty clothes and cleans our house"...and it goes on like that and then at the very end it says "and Dad says she's a hottie!". lol It was so funny to see the words written in Dylan's handwriting!:D:p

I went to visit my 94 year old grandma with my mom and dad and sisters today too. She's in a nursing home and just hates it so much. I feel so bad for her. She's hanging in there pretty good, though. She's pretty with it for the most part and loved having company. Then I took my mom and dad out for dinner and just got home. Tomorrow I won't get to post at all since I have to leave at 5:30 am for the Twin Cities and my day long CE. Ugh. It's going to be such a long day!:(

Today I did Athletic Step! I almost have most of the choreography. I did slip and fall at one point, though.:eek: I was okay but I twisted my foot a bit. It feels fine now but I was bummed out. I stopped for several minutes to ice my foot just in case and my heart rate came down. I finished the workout but was disappointed. It almost made me want to do it again just so I could do it all the way through without messing up! I think I need to concentrate on one step workout at a time and get it down before trying one of the other ones I've acquired. Athletic Step has thrown down the gauntlet and I intend to beat that sucker!:eek:

ETA: Oh, and we made plans for Disney in Orlando the week of Fourth of July! Yipee! We found a house to rent on vrbo.com that was super cheap and also has a screened in pool, just 15 minutes from Disney. Can't wait!

Good Morning ladies! I once again stayed up late last night so I am dragging my butt this morning. I was able to do 45 minutes of cardio this morning. Looks like I will be pulling a longer workout this evening.

I was extremely bad yesterday. I have figured out that when I eat sweets in the early morning my entire day is crap. I ate all day yesterday. So, today I am trying to be extra good!!!!

This is my last week of Meso 1. I am going to continue, but go extra careful with my left shoulder. It is feeling 80% better today.

Gotta go....BBL!!!! :D
 
Good Afternoon!

Betty--I planted all of my crops from seeds this year. I planted them in March and put them in a green house. I now have all my plants transplanted into the garden. My tomatos are green and look like They will be ready in a few weeks. So excited. My corn is growing, you can see all the silk. I have been picking and eating squash and cucumbers. The peppers just started flowering this weekend. I am just so excited. Here in GA it is already in the 90's. Today is overcast and rainy/drizzly.

Jean---I am glad to hear that your shoulder is getting better. I think my left shoulder is just my weakling. I have always struggled with it exercising. I guess I need to just be careful with it.

Okay...Back at work and lots to do. BBL!!! :D
 
Hi Everyone!

I had a nice Mother's Day yesterday. My kids made blueberry pancakes for breakfast and I ate too many but they were really good. I wanted some one-on-one time with my kids, that did not go as planned. I promised to take my older daughter driving and shopping, thinking it would be fun girl time, but she got really frustrated parallel parking and then was in a bad mood for shopping. I couldn't even explain it to her, and I avoid parallel parking if I can. But she has to do it on the road test. I went for a walk with another daughter, and then we all played some Boggle.

Today at my work gym I did 10-10-10 class. The instructor does 10 mins of step, then 10 of plyo, and 10 of drills. It was really tough and I was sweating. And there was no cool down! Its hard when I compare everyone to Cathe, but I have to squeeze in my workouts when I can.

Colleen I like Athletic Step too! There is still one move I can't do, when she turns around on the step and does an ab crunch I think - I just stay forward the whole time. Disney trip sounds great!

Sneaking in from work, better get back to it!

I love how this one thread keeps growing and growing! I'm new here so I don't really know what everybody is talking about (LOL) but I think it is amazing how you all seem to really enjoy and respect each other. What a wonderful community you've become. :)

Yes, I have decided that I will be starting STS next Monday. That makes my first week of vacation the recovery week between meso 2 and meso 3. I'll have to figure out what to do the first week of meso 3 while I am there. We rent a house so it is possible to bring my weights - not ideal certainly - but I'll work something out. ;)

Being I was able to get STS on sale today for an amazing price there is no way I could stand to wait until August to start! LOL.

Okay...I started doing STS Disc#10---But, my shoulder was hurting pretty bad...so I took Jean's advise...I am letting it rest!!! SO I switched over to B&G premix standing legs and abs. Then I did a 25 minute walk on the treadmill at 3.5 mph. :D I got nice and sweaty! :eek:

I hope my shoulder feels better tomorrow so I can do Disc#10.

It is storming here, I better get off this computer! :(

Good Morning ladies!

Today, I started my day different. I got up and did and hour on the ellitpical. Change is always nice! I felt like I got an awesome workout this morning! But, I did miss the run. Maybe I will alternate them this week and see what happens. :D

Carolyn- I understand they worries of the puppy. Still to this day....when the weather is cool outside and I open the windows...my cats always sit in the window and look out and smell the fresh air. I always worry they are going to fall out of the window. There is a screen there but you never know. My husband says I worry to much. I also worry about our dog when she is outside playing. Thankfully she does not like water, since we have a pond on our property. When she was little she would walk down to the pond and I was always afraid she would go swimming and drown. But, she hates water. She will not even go outside if it is raining. She is a prissy thing!!!! So, I understand!!!!

Jean---Maybe I will try that!!! This is my last week of Meso 1!!! Next week is a rest week from STS. Watch out, All those other DVD's are coming out!!!! Not that I havent been doing them, but I will be able to do some of the weight lifting DVD's of hers that I replaced with STS. I sure do miss them. But, that what keeps you coming back for more!!!

Colleen---You better pack some shorts. It will be HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Normally high 90's to low 100's!!!! But, well worth it!!!!! The last time my husband and I went to disney, we had a blast!!!!!!!:p

Oh man, Carolyn, that's so funny because I was feeling the exact same way today!:confused: I did disc 22 chest, shoulders and triceps and I wasn't feeling strong at all today. I just wasn't able to put my all into it for some reason. Only today the weather is nice and sunny so I can't blame that. I feel really bloated and yucky after sitting all day yesterday in CE and eating crap food.:( I sort of feel like I need really good, intense cardio session to feel better so maybe I will try to work something in tonight. I work late, though so that's probably wishful thinking!

Yesterday was such a long day. I was having a hard time staying awake during the sessions!:eek: Plus my knees and ankles were bothering me from Athletic Step. I don't know. I really loved the workout and am finally catching onto the choreography (except that one move you described Mary! I do the same thing with that core crunch...I stay forward while she spins and does something I can't even imagine). I don't know if I just need to find different shoes for the high impact step aerobics or what. The ones I have (and I have 3 different pairs) all suck and I hate them...hence the barefoot workouts. I tried to put a pair on again during the workout and I honestly feel like I could hurt myself more with them then without. Maybe I need to find a more minimalist pair. I do feel like I could use more ankle support during high impact step. My arches and the balls of my feet are just fine though. Maybe high impact step aerobics with complex choreography just isn't for me :(.

Missy- I am so jealous of yours and Jean's ellipticals! Someday...;) Mark and I are talking about maybe joining the gym down the street and then I could use the ellipticals there. I still would do my home workouts but he needs a workout buddy to encourage him to go so he really wants me to join with him. We'll see, I guess. I hope your shoulder is feeling better today! During your rest week I would concentrate on more cardio and leave the weights alone unless your doing something like Afterburn where they are meant to up the cardio factor rather than the strength. I think the rest week is built into the program to allow the muscles to fully repair and take on the next mesocycle. I'm planning on alternating yoga and cardio next week...we'll see though! I'm so bad about sticking to my yoga self-promises!

Welcome Dawn! The more the merrier!!! You have lots of folks to encourage you with STS and since we've all done it feel free to pick our brains for tips and such!

Betty- I just like the plant protein powder because it's got all kinds of goodies in it for health. I figure your getting all that stuff plus a little protein as well...win/win! I also add the scoop of whey like Jean does because I've read that whey is the gold standard for muscle repair though, so I'm enjoying using a scoop of each in my shakes. Today I blended pomegranate juice, coconut/almond milk blend, some greek yogurt and a scoop of each. It was tasty! Burn and Build is an awesome workout! Not for the faint of heart though!:eek:

Oh, I was going to mention about that hilarious Mother's day card, I'm pretty sure Mark dictated the card to Dylan. I noticed that the words were mysteriously spelled correctly! lol I think he was trying to get brownie points!:D

Carolyn---I hope you feel better. I know those cramps are horrible. I actually have an appointment with the GYN tomorrow to discuss some of my "girl" issues. We shall see what she says....hahaha...never anything good!!!!

Colleen---Thats what I meant.....cardio based workouts! Looking forward to them.

Betty---Good to hear someone tell me that having kids does not correct the mense cramps!!! no kids here, but cramps from hell always! never look forward to that time. I hear you about the eating factor. Last Sunday I was at home and it was raining so I was stuck inside....well, all I can say is I was it the kitchen ALOT!!!!!
