STS first time!

Okay, so here's a question for you girls...I'm thinking about getting a pair of minimalist shoes for step aerobics (especially the high impact dvds). I was looking online and the New Balance Minimus seems to have good reviews. Is anyone familiar with these or minimalist shoes in general?

Betty- as far as whey protein powders I have tried several brands and I just can't seem to find one I like enough to stick with. I was thinking about trying the brand Carolyn uses (Jay Robb I think?) or I might try Swanson's brand next. I used to use Pure Protein and then switched for awhile and bought some from Sam's club (their Muscle tech brand). Then I thought I'd want to go more natural and get away from artificial sweetners. I've used Whey factors and a brand called Tara's Whey but they are both pretty expensive (got them from my local food co-op). Right now I'm finishing up a GNC brand that was unflavored but the taste...not so good! I have to make sure and use plenty of other shake ingredients to cover up the chalky taste!

Carolyn---OMG I was so excited for you, and then I read the 2nd post! Hopefully, she is a nice person and will help you.

It is pooring here. We really need the rain so I am not going to complain.

What DVD am I doing tonight? Maybe Disc#10 with left arm modifications???? I am not going to let this shoulder soreness stop me. I am doing it!!!!

Wish me luck tomorrow at the Dr. Will keep you posted as to what the Dr says!!!!

Gotta Run.........1 hr left till I can go home! Be back after my workout! Have a nice evening! :D

Jean, so sorry to hear about your Mom, I'll be thinking of you.

I did Disc 35 tonight, my last plyo legs! It is so humid here, my sweat was flying more than usual but another great workout. I even got a few more of those one legged squat thrusts, but I'm definitely stronger on one side.

Welcome Dawn! You will love STS. It really seemed daunting when I started the 1RMs, but now I can't believe I'm almost done, and wondering when I can do it again. Where do you go on Cape Cod? My brother has a place in Chatham and we go alot during the summer.

Carolyn, hope you are feeling better. That's too bad about the 4DS - wonder why she would only sell one disc? It only comes with 2 so doesn't make sense to have one without the other.

Missy, good luck at the dr's tomorrow. I know how hard it is to rest an injury, but sometimes that's what is needed.

Colleen, you might like the gym for the elliptical, and getting Mark to go with you. I use my gym at work because with my schedule, sometimes the only time I have to workout is during lunch. It adds some extra variety. I've thought about getting cardio coach too, to use on the machines - people seem to rave about those workouts.

Betty, how are you liking Meso 3? I say if you don't like Plyo legs, do whatever you do like, all of Cathe's workouts are great!

Have a good evening!

Hello!

I have major DOMS from plyo legs last night. I probably should have stretched more but ran out of time.

I ordered the Boot Camp Deal of the Day. I had done that one on Fit TV a while ago and remember it has good core work. Variety is always good!

Carolyn I was thinking about your pool and puppy. Can you get one of those sensors/alarms that detects when something has gone in the pool?

Marie, good luck with your search!

Good Afternoon ladies....I have been trying to post a message for hours...but everytime I have gotten interrupted.

So, let me try again......

Jean---I am sorry to hear about your mom. I will keep your family in my thoughts.

Well, I went to the dr and they are recommending BC pills. They think my issues are hormaonal. So with a low dosage BC, they hope will fix my problems (painful intercouse(not all the time, maily 1-1 1/2 weeks prior to period), and cramps throughout the month off and on and painful menstration). What are your thoughts???? I have had LEEP, CRYPO, COLPO, Caterazation all on my cervix starting at age 16. They assume I have endometriosis, but can not verify without lap sugery which I am NOT having done. They think the BC will calm it down, if I do have it.

Okay...onto better subjects. I did my hour of cardio this morning. Tonight I am doing Disc#11 and looking forward to that!!!!!!!!!:D

Okay, I am being interrupted again. BBL!!! :p

Quick check in before I take the next patient. I did Cardio Supersets (full premix with bonus step). I could just kiss Cathe for making LIS!:D My knees and ankles feel better today. I've been looking at that website Carolyn, Thanks for sharing that! We'll see what I end up getting...I hate to drop another $100 on shoes when I have 3 pairs in my closet:rolleyes:. Oh well!
Gotta go...BBL

Hey ladies,

The humidity is through the roof! My carpet felt like I was exercising on a woolly mammoth! Sweat was pouring out of my pores. Good way to clean them out, I suppose!

I did sub Legs & Glutes for Plyo Legs. It was hard, of course. I was complaining about 30-sec rests in Plyo Legs, but there were none in L&G! I think I've only done this workout once or twice, but I've had this dvd for 7 years! KPC was one of my first purchases! Tacked on Pilates Abs after. Feels so great to work on my abs. Hopefully I'll do a 3rd one on Friday! Can't wait to shrink the cellulite and flab all around! I like the way my arms look (when they're flexed or lifted, of course;))!

I'm trying to get my 19-yr-old to do STS while he's off for the summer!;)

Missy, bcp is not a bad option. It helped me, and I did have a dx of endometriosis before I had kids. I feel for you, in your monthly pain! While on bcp, I loved the regularity of my period (I seem to tend toward every 3 wks:mad:), and the reduction of flow.

Jean, I'm thinking of you and your family today.

Carolyn, what a heartwarming story. Thank you, Shelby!

Marie, good luck searching for a place. It's so exciting your belly is getting bigger! Don't worry about the exercise--get in what you can and forget the rest (well, not rest rest).

Mary, how awesome you ordered Boot Camp! That used to be a toughie for me, and I'm proud to conquer it. It's a fun workout!

Have a great afternoon!

Good Evening! Just finished my workout and I thru in no equipment abs from ab circuits!!! :p:p:p

Off to prepare lunches for tomorrow. Good Night! :D

Betty---Thanks for your opion on BC. My husband is all for it also. He thinks if it will help me then I should at least try it. He hates seeing me in so much pain all the time. It use to only be at the time of the month but within the last year it has started to affect me off and on all month. Its like I have menstral cramps all the time. This past month I have had cramps almost daily. It sucks. So, I am going to try it for 2 months. Then I have to f/u with my Dr.....at that point we will see if it is helping. Keeping my fingers crossed that it does. I am NOT having any surgery unless it is an life threatning emergency. I am not that type of girl. So many people think that surgery is the majic answer but it never is. Just like they think diet pills will solve there problems but they don't!!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha :)

Okay, off to do my evenign chores and bed!!!!

Chat later! :D

Carolyn--- I did some research and this is what I came up with:

How It Works
Birth control pills (oral contraceptives) that contain estrogen and progestin are also called "the Pill." Birth control pills relieve endometriosis by stopping ovulation and decreasing the endometrium's monthly cycle of growing, bleeding, and shedding. They also affect the endometriosis growths (implants), making them shrink and bleed less.1

Why It Is Used
Birth control pills are the first-choice treatment for controlling endometriosis growth and pain. This is because birth control hormones are the hormone therapy that is least likely to cause bad side effects. For this reason, they can be used for years, while other hormone therapies can only be used for several months to 2 years.

Birth control pills can also be used to stop or further slow endometriosis growths after endometriosis surgery.

How Well It Works
Like all hormone therapies and surgery, birth control hormones do not cure endometriosis. However, they can relieve endometriosis symptoms and are likely to slow the growth of endometriosis.

Birth control pills improve endometriosis and menstrual pain and bleeding for most women. They are most effective when used to relieve minimal to mild symptoms.

I am not sure if it will work, but I will give it a shot. I am just tired of cramping all month. Also, pain and discomfert with intercourse is no fun. I try to hide it, because my wonderful husband does not want to hurt me. But, I can't just stop!!!! (TMI) (i know)

Okay....at work...gotta run! BBL!

Missy- I definitely think the BCP are worth a shot. If you don't get relief after a few months you could always stop them. I used BCP all through my twenties and loved how they made my period regular and lighter. Then for some reason, when I hit 30, my body couldn't tolerate them any more! I had migraines off and on in my twenties but they got more frequent and unusual. Once I got the visual scotoma (sort of a blind spot/aura you can get) and it lasted for almost a week! I was so freaked out and so was my doctor. We did an MRI just to be safe. It was all fine, so eventually it just came to discontinuing the BCP and my migraine symptoms went away. Of course, then I got pregnant.:p I wasn't quite expecting Dylan at first but it was all good! He was actually present at our wedding:eek:. I always joke that if it wasn't for all the problems with my bcp Mark and I would still be non-committal with each other and not know "what we want". Sometimes fate just takes the steering wheel when you're being all wishy-washy! lol:eek::eek:

Today I was going to do LBB in place of STS Meso 2 legs but my body is still feeling a little beat up from AS on Sunday. I wound up popping one of my yoga dvds in instead and it felt great! I think skipping all the cool down/stretches is starting to catch up with me! Next week I plan to do the rest week and alternate days of yoga with light cardio. I'm looking forward to it!:D

Have a great day ladies!

I finished STS! What a great system! It feels a little weird though, like, what do I do now? Next week is supposed to be a rest week so I'll probably do whatever cardio I feel like, and then I'll look at some of the LIS rotations. I really need to get my core back in shape!

Missy, I agree with trying the BC pills. I have heard that they really help alleviate the pain, and why suffer if you don't have to.

I think we're supposed to have beautiful weather here for the next few days, so hope to get outside more. Have a good evening!

Forgot to say I'm really excited for the new workouts, but a little scared. These sound harder than Afterburn!

Good Evening all....I only have a few minutes.....

Jean----We all are thinking of you.

Thanks for all of the encouragement on BCP!!! I now feel a little more at ease knowing that there is good reviews from people I trust. Thanks again. As always we are there for one another. Thanks!!!

I have tomorrow off because my equine vet will be here @ 10:30 or 11:00 in the morning to do the horses teeth. Big job!!!! Will let you know how that goes.

I am off to bed. Oh, I had pizza for dinner per husbands request. So, not healthy, but he is always trying healthier meals because of me, so I decided not to fuse about the pizza. Plus, it was yummy!!!! Will have to workout extra hard tomorrow!!!!

Chat tomorrow!

Mary---Congrats for finishing STS!!! I am trying to get there too! You should feel so excited and accomplished!!! Be proud of yourself!!! :D

Missy- I too have heard that the BCP helps. Hope it does the same for you. Colleen- Funny you mention yoga. I'm making that my new goal for next week. Half hour once a week. The premixes will be good for that. Mary- Congrats on finishing STS :) It's been a busy couple of days. We looked at a couple places but they were not what we were expecting.....let's just say not up to par with where I would want to live. I'm not super picky but one place was a dump! We took a look at our budget and with baby coming we decided to look at some less expensive places just to keep our options open. We are thinking even if it's just for a year it'd be nice to save some money or spend it on baby....whatever may happen....we just don't want to be housebroke as they say :) No workout today....I worked AM. Yesterday was TBT Total Body Express.....feelings DOMS in the tris from that one. I got SJP and Step Blast today. Tomorrow is a SJP day...can't wait! Nothing like a new workout to get ya motivated. One more week til we find out the sex :) Can't wait!!!

Good Morning!

I just finished Cardio Supersets with Bonus wo. I think that is my favorite of the whole series. I really felt my core kicking in, and I'm looking forward to getting that area back in shape.

Marie, good luck with your search, I hope you find something soon. New baby will bring lots of expenses, but also lots of joy!

Looks like another beautiful day here. Enjoy!

Good Morning ladies! Just a quick hello, before I head to the barn!
